"Why are you still with him?"
Lillian's spoiled voice was soft, almost a whisper, but clear enough to pierce the ears of Selena, who stood transfixed in front of the hotel room door.
"I'm going to divorce him, darling. Believe me, I just need the right time. You know how much my mom loves that woman."
Selena's heart stopped beating. Her hand clutching the cell phone shook violently, while her legs felt weak. Her breathing was ragged, as if her chest were being crushed by something heavy.
From the corner of the slightly open door, she could clearly see the scene that shattered her world-David, her husband, with Lillian, the friend she had trusted.
Lillian rubbed David's face with her fingertips before pressing her body closer. "I'm tired of waiting, darling. I want you to be completely mine. I want Mrs. Smith's status to be mine alone."
David gave a small grin, his hands wrapping around her slender waist. "And you're going to get it, darling."
Without hesitation, David's lips kissed Lillian's neck, making her moan softly. Selena was stunned. Her vision was blurry as tears began to well up, but she couldn't tear her eyes away.
"So this is the reason he's always been indifferent to me," she thought bitterly.
All this time, Selena had tried to be a good wife. She always waited for David's return, cooked his favorite meals, and even kept smiling despite being ignored. But as it turned out, what she was striving for was just a big lie.
Someone had sent an anonymous message to her cell phone, telling her the location of this hotel and saying that David was inside with another woman. Selena hesitated at first. She wanted to believe her husband, but her heart urged her to come. And now, the reality hit her hard.
Without thinking, Selena turned around. She couldn't stand being there any longer. If she remained standing in front of the door, she might do something stupid-like barge in and slap them both in the face. But why would she do that? It would only make her look pathetic.
Her steps were quick down the hotel hallway. With every second that passed, her chest felt tighter. Anger, pain, and humiliation mixed together.
With no clear destination in mind, Selena stepped out of the hotel. The cold night air hit her skin, but she didn't care. All she wanted right now was to get as far away from that place as possible.
Her mind raced, repeating David's words that kept ringing in her head.
"I'm going to divorce her."
So, from the beginning, this marriage was just a game? Just an arranged marriage that meant nothing to David?
The tears that had been held back finally fell unstoppably. Her hands clenched into fists, and her lips trembled as she sobbed.
She was tired.
Tired of being a good woman who could only wait, hoping her love would be rewarded.
Tired of being someone who was constantly betrayed.
Selena wiped her tears roughly. If David could betray her without guilt, why did she have to be a pathetic, loyal woman?
Elena decided to go to a nightclub just to ease her mind.
***
An EDM song blared through the club, the bass echoing off the walls and floor, making Selena's heart flutter to the beat. She had already downed too much alcohol-vodka, tequila, whatever the bartender offered; she accepted without hesitation.
Her vision was blurry, her head felt light, but her heart was still heavy. The image of David and Lillian kept haunting her. They were making out in the hotel room while she, his legal wife, could only stand outside like a fool.
"Again?" The bartender looked at her quizzically, seeing Selena's condition, as she could barely sit upright.
"Just pour it," she muttered, pushing the empty glass towards the man.
The man sighed but complied. "This is the last one."
Selena took the glass and downed it in one go. Her throat burned, but she didn't care. She wanted to forget everything tonight.
As she tried to rise from her chair, her head spun violently. She needed air. She needed to get away from this place. With unsteady steps, she made her way through the crowd, originally intending to go to the restroom, but her feet led her to the stairs leading upstairs.
She had no idea how she got there. Him vision was getting blurry, and the only thing he realized was that the door in front of him was unlocked. With difficulty, he pushed it open and entered the dimly lit VIP room.
It was hot.
Him whole body felt on fire.
With what consciousness she had left, her hands fumbled with the buttons of her blouse, then undid them one by one. She couldn't stand it anymore. The tightness and heat were too excruciating.
She stripped off everything attached to her body, not caring about anything anymore. She wanted to feel free, wanted to forget everything, and wanted to escape the pain that was crushing her.
Breathing heavily, Selena fell back on the soft bed, her eyes beginning to close, letting the hangover take her deeper and deeper into the darkness.
Before long, Dominic Varela Hawthorne had just stepped out of the shower, drying his hair with a towel when his eyes caught something that shouldn't have been there.
He froze.
On his bed, a young woman lay without a single thread on her body. Her skin glowed under the dim lights, her long hair was tangled in the pillow, and her chest rose and fell softly with her heavy breathing.
Dominic's eyebrows knitted together. Since when was there a woman here? He was sure the door to his room had been locked.
The woman groaned softly, then suddenly her half-closed eyes opened and looked at him with a blurred expression.
"Ah, my dear..."
Dominic frowned.
Before he could say anything, she suddenly got up and grabbed the collar of his bathrobe, pulling him toward her.
"I know you want me..." she whispered seductively, her fingers trailing down Dominic's chest in a teasing motion. "You don't have to hold back... I can satisfy you..."
Dominic stiffened. This woman was drunk.
But that temptation...
His eyes swept over her face. Despite being drunk and disheveled, this woman had a natural beauty that was hard to ignore. Her red lips were slightly parted, her breath contained a faint scent of alcohol, and her soft skin touched his chest, making his blood rush.
This woman did not know what she was doing.
Or perhaps she knew but didn't care.
Selena's hands were now around his neck, pulling him closer. Dominic's breathing was getting heavier. He was not a holy man; he was a grown man with instincts and desires.
But this woman wasn't just any woman-she was in a state that couldn't be called conscious.
With what control he had left, Dominic grabbed both of Selena's wrists and held them. "Miss, you clearly don't know what you're doing."
Selena grumbled, her blurred eyes looking at him with slight annoyance. "Why, am I not seductive enough for you?"
Dominic let out a long breath, holding himself back with all his might. This woman was really dangerous.
He pushed her onto the bed.
"Don't blame me, missy. You seduced me," he whispered.
Selena squirmed softly, her head feeling heavy as if it had been hit by a hammer. She groaned, trying to open her eyes, but the glare from the sunlight coming through the window made her squint.
As her consciousness began to return, she felt something strange.
Wait...
The sheets under her body were warm. And... wait a minute. This wasn't her room! Her eyes flew wide open. She froze, turning her head to the side.
There, a man slept soundly with his chest exposed, displaying perfectly formed abdominal muscles. His skin was slightly tanned, his face masculine, with a sharp jawline and a perfect nose. His black hair was a little messy but still looked incredibly seductive.
But that's not what shocked Selena. She looked down, seeing herself without a single thread on her body. Instantly, her blood rushed.
When her eyes caught sight of the faint red stain on the white sheets, her heart sank.
Oh my!
A trembling hand covered her mouth. She tried to remember what happened last night, but there were only blurry fragments: the club, the alcohol, the heat, then someone.
But who?
Selena tapped her forehead in frustration. "Asshole... What did I do last night?"
Her soft voice was enough to wake the man beside her. With a lazy movement, he squirmed and then opened his eyes. A sharp gray gaze immediately locked onto Selena's.
Dominic blinked a few times before realizing the situation.
"Oh, you're awake," he said casually, his voice deep and husky in the morning.
Selena, still in shock, took a few seconds before finally hissing angrily.
"You... Who are you?!"
Dominic looked at her with a lazy expression. "Seriously? After last night, you were so actively flirting; now you're asking who I am?"
Without thinking, Selena raised a hand and slapped his cheek. "What an asshole!"
Dominic snorted. His hand came up, rubbing his cheek, which was starting to turn red.
"Wow." He gave a short laugh, not looking surprised. "After you dragged me to bed last night, now you're acting like a victim."
"What?!" Selena's eyes bulged angrily.
Dominic chuckled. "Yeah, don't you remember?" He raised an eyebrow. "You called me darling, but last night you didn't mind pulling me into your arms."
Selena wanted to slap him again, but Dominic caught her wrist before she could do so.
"Look, Miss Drunk," he said in a calm yet firm tone. "This club is mine, and my rooms are off-limits to just anyone. But last night, you trespassed, undressed yourself, and then pulled me into bed."
Selena bit her lip, confused. Was that really the case? But if she was the one who flirted first... But no! That doesn't make sense!
"I don't believe a word you say," she said, still adamant.
Dominic sighed, then got up from the bed without the slightest awkwardness, making Selena hurriedly look the other way. This man is shameless!
Dominic took something from his coat hanging on the chair, then walked over and handed Selena a card.
"Here."
Selena glanced at the object, hesitating before taking it. She read the contents, and her eyes immediately widened.
"What the hell is this?"
"Consider it compensation." Dominic stuffed both hands into his pants pockets casually. "A billion is enough, right?"
Selena looked up with a smoldering gaze.
"Compensation?" She gripped the card firmly. "What kind of woman do you think I am?!"
Dominic remained calm. "I don't think anything of the sort, missy. I'm just making sure you won't create drama after this. Let's pretend nothing happened."
Without thinking, Selena slapped the man across the face again, harder than before.
Dominic gasped, his eyes narrowing slightly.
"Asshole!" Selena threw the card in his face. "I don't need your money!"
She grabbed her clothes that littered the floor and rushed into the bathroom, slamming the door loudly.
Dominic rubbed his reddened cheeks and chuckled softly.
"Interesting."
Inside the bathroom, Selena sat on the floor with her knees bent, her head bowed deeply. Her tears fell silently. How unlucky.
Last night, she had slept with a stranger. She couldn't even remember how it all happened. Her hands clenched into fists on her thighs. What had she done? How did she end up like this?
For several minutes, Selena was silent, trying to control herself and calming her ragged breathing. She knew crying wouldn't change anything.
When she felt calm enough, she got up and washed her face with cold water. She looked in the mirror, seeing her own messed-up reflection: messy hair, puffy eyes.
She took a deep breath, then grabbed her clothes and put them on.
When she opened the bathroom door and came out, the room was empty. There was no longer the strange man who had slept on the bed.
However, on the bed, the card containing one billion was still lying.
Selena stared at her for a moment, then snorted sarcastically. As if her pride could be bought with money. Without a second thought, she turned and left, leaving the card where it was.

Arriving home, Selena had just closed the door when a slap landed on her cheek.
Plak!
Selena was startled. Her head turned to the side at the blow, a stinging sensation running through her skin.
In front of her, David stood with a dark face and piercing eyes staring at her. His jaw was clenched tightly, his expression full of anger.
"Where were you last night?" his voice was cold, piercing like a knife.
Selena swallowed, quickly lowering her head to hide her anxiety. She had to remain calm.
"I was with Mom at the hospital," she replied softly.
David's eyes were still scrutinizing her face, looking for any sign of a lie.
But finally, he sighed and stepped back.
"All right," he murmured, his tone softening slightly. "I'm sorry. I'm just worried."
Selena smiled slightly, though her heart felt heavy inside.
"I'll go to my room first," she said quietly, then turned and walked toward her room.
After entering the room, David walked to the closet and took out his wallet. He looked like he was about to check his black card, but instead, it fell to the floor open.
A small photograph was tucked inside, clearly visible to Selena's eyes. Her eyes widened when she saw the face of the man in the photo. Her whole body felt frozen.
With trembling hands, she picked up the wallet and looked closely at the photo.
"Whose picture is this, darling?" she asked in a trembling voice, her heart pounding loudly inside her chest.
David, who was arranging the cards in his wallet, took one glance and replied without thinking, "My father."
Selena's heart sank. Her legs felt weak, almost unable to stand. How could that be?
That picture...
That was the man she had slept with last night!
"So he's your father?" asked Selena incredulously.
Selena was still standing still with her wallet in her hand, while David was again busy checking his cards, not noticing the change in his wife's expression.
"Your real father?" Selena repeated, her voice hoarse and almost a whisper.
David nodded without looking at her. "Yes. I haven't seen him in fifteen years. After divorcing my mother, he went somewhere. No news, no trace. Until now, I don't know where he is either."
Selena swallowed hard. She felt like laughing sadly. She knew where David's real father was. He had just slept with her last night!
The thought made her stomach turn. She couldn't accept this reality. There was no way her life could turn into a living hell this quickly.
Before she could say anything, David's cell phone suddenly rang. The man glanced at the screen briefly, then quickly walked toward the balcony to pick it up.
Selena just watched in silence.
David's voice sounded softer, more intimate. There wasn't that gruff tone like when he spoke to her. And Selena knew exactly who was calling. It had to be his mistress.
Once again she had to watch her husband talk sweetly to another woman, as if she were just another wife.
After a few minutes of talking, David hung up and grabbed his jacket.
"I have a quick errand. Don't wait for me for dinner."
Without waiting for a reply, the man walked out, closing the door with a slight bang.
Selena still stood where she was, staring at the door that was now firmly closed.
Her hands gripped the fabric of her shirt tightly, her breathing heavy. David had betrayed her.
And now, she had to accept another reality that the man she slept with last night was the father of the man who betrayed her?
Selena lifted her face, smiling sarcastically. If this was a game, she wasn't going to just lose. She knew what she had to do. Wasting no time, she grabbed her bag and left the house.
***
Selena stepped into the same club as last night. This time, she was not drunk. Her head was cool, her mind sharp.
She walked up to the bar counter, then approached a well-dressed man who looked like the club manager.
"I'd like to see the owner of this place," Selena said firmly.
The manager shot her a glance with furrowed brows. "I'm sorry, but that's not possible."
Selena snorted. "Why?"
"Big bosses don't just go around meeting people," the man replied coldly. "Besides, his identity is kept secret."
Selena smiled slightly. "Oh, really?"
She was just about to utter another threat when suddenly a heavy voice interrupted their conversation.
"Why are you looking for me?"
Selena froze. She recognized the voice. Slowly, she turned around and saw the man standing behind her.
The man stared at her with a sharp gaze, dressed in a perfect black suit that added even more authority.
Selena wasted no time. She immediately grabbed Dominic's wrist, pulling him away from the crowd.
"Hey-"
"I have important business," Selena interrupted without giving Dominic a chance to object.
She dragged him up the stairs, heading for the same VIP room as last night.
Dominic just stood still, letting himself be pulled along. His expression remained flat, but his gaze seemed to want to read the mind of the woman in front of him.
Once inside the room, Selena released her grip and closed the door.
Dominic leaned his back against the wall, folding his arms across his chest. "Now explain," he said calmly.
Selena looked at him straight on, her eyes flashing with determination.
"I want us to make a deal."
Dominic raised one eyebrow, looking at Selena with interest. "What deal?"
Selena crossed her arms over her chest, not answering right away. Before speaking further, there was one thing she had to make sure of first.
"I'm Selena." She stared intently at the man before her. "Selena."
Dominic gave a small nod. "Dominic Varela Hawthorne."
So it was true. The man's last name was the same as the one on David's wallet-his biological father.
Selena held her breath, trying to hide the turmoil of her feelings. She must not falter.
"Okay, Uncle Dominic," Selena said finally. "I want you to take responsibility."
Dominic flinched slightly but quickly pulled himself together. There was a hint of guilt in his eyes.
"I did intend to do it." His voice was deep and serious. "I'm going to marry you."
Selena chuckled, without looking the least bit happy.
"Marry?" She shook her head. "No way."
Dominic looked at her deeply, realizing there was something this woman was hiding.
"You're married?" he guessed.
Selena smiled wryly. "Of course not. I just don't want to get feelings involved."
Dominic didn't ask further, though something strange was going through his mind.
"What do you want, then?" he asked.
Selena looked at him with conviction. "I want to be your bedmate."
Dominic's eyes narrowed. "Bedmate?"
"Yes." Selena walked over to him, looking at him from a very close distance. "Other than that, you have to fulfill all my wishes."
Dominic leaned his back against the wall, looking at Selena with an unpredictable expression.
"Interesting."
Selena wasn't surprised to hear that answer. A man like him would definitely not refuse.
"Of course, I agree." Dominic lifted his chin slightly, his lips curling mischievously. "Last night, you satisfied me to the point of addiction."
Selena smiled triumphantly.
Slowly, she wrapped her arms around Dominic's neck, then, without warning, she pressed her lips to his.
Dominic returned the kiss without hesitation, his hands moving to Selena's waist, pulling her closer.
After a few seconds, Selena pulled away first.
She looked up at Dominic with a meaningful gaze, then wiped her wet lips with a finger.
"If Uncle needs warmth..." she whispered, her voice seductive, "don't forget to call me, okay?"
Dominic gave her a dangerous look, but there was a faint smile at the corner of his lips.
Selena turned and walked away, leaving the man alone in the room.
Dominic could only stare at her disappearing back behind the door, his smile growing wider.
"That woman is really interesting. But why is she suddenly asking for a deal? Wasn't she angry this morning when she refused my money?"
