Nicholas Grey awakened to the sound of birds singing. He gently opened his eyes and got struck by the bright rays of light stroking through his window and pointing directly to his eyes.
He turned around and got startled as sleep condensed his eyes while trying to imagine why he had been sleeping in his study for some days now.
He could hear the sound of his ceiling fan rotating as it does during his work days. He observed the heavy, brooding silence that descended on him; the silence and loneliness he had gotten used to.
Still feeling tired, he leaned back in his armchair and fell asleep again.
Some minutes later, he eventually woke up to the sound of pattering footsteps. He could tell there were people in his office, not one person.
He sluggishly stood up, looked around and was flabbergasted to some files and documents scattered around his study.
"Who must have been here? Who would do this to me?"
He stood there staring into space while fiddling with his keys. He turned to look at the door that connected his office to the room and frowned in confusion.
His workers knew better than to enter his office without permission unless it was urgent. But what about his best friends? Those two idiots were capable of doing anything.
Suddenly, his phone rang; it was his secretary, Miss Lance.
"Ahh" He screamed and deliberately ended the call when his eyes caught a document of a deal he closed a fortnight ago with a client over a cup of coffee.
He remembered arranging those documents in a sequential manner on his office desk but here it was scattered around his study.
"What's going on here?" he whispered as he wandered aimlessly around the room with his eyes feasting on every important file he noticed.
He had an inner room in his office where he relaxes and uses as his study and he preferred staying there for some unsolicited reasons.
In a jiffy, he walked out of his room, ready to give his best friends a mouthful for disturbing his sleep. His eyes widened as he peeped closely and saw his staff all dressed in a blue coloured apparel.
Of course, blue was his favourite colour. 'How could they have known and why are they dressed this way?
Before he could complete his line of reasoning, he heard a sharp shout out.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOSS!!!".
He looked up and saw his name boldly inscribed on a banner which was held at both ends by all his staff. He spotted his best friends smirking at him with a mischievous glint in their eyes.
"Happy birthday man! More chics to you" Killian said laughing.
"Happy birthday bro! I'm not suprised your birthday didn't ring a bell to you". Matt said laughing playfully.
He was amazed and worried at the same time. How busy was I to forget today is my birthday?
He pretended and let out a fake smile with slight tears running down his cheeks.
Everyone was surprised, they had never seen their boss in such frame of mind before. He looked so fagged and exasperated and appeared in the same garb he wore the previous day. They knew who their boss was and never questioned him.
Nicholas Grey was a typical business tycoon, handsome, rich, demanding and domineering with his fierce look. He possessed a latent leonine power and walked with purpose and authority. He had a Teutonic-gold hair that was always coiffed to perfection.
People always commented on his alluring grey eyes; they could shine as bright as the evening stars when they were alight with joy. Other times, they could resemble two drops of flashing fire.
He had an upturned nose and high cheekbones carved down towards an identical prominent jaw.
Above all, he was sexy looking and every lady's dream man.
Nicholas gave a warm speech and the celebration began, he enjoyed every bit of the party.
The atmosphere was light and he had never been that happy in his entire life for a considerably long time. He ate and drank with his staff and friends and got tipsy before the party ended.
He stood with his Killian and Matt as the trio discussed about random things. He thanked them before they departed while the employees dispersed to their working post one after the other before he noticed someone was missing.
"Prisca Lance!" he muttered while hitting his palms on his desk.
He quickly reached out for his telephone and ordered her to see him immediately in his office before the next hundred seconds. Yes, he was bossy and would never take no for an answer.
While he was still pondering on why she was absent, Prisca appeared like a ghost before him. He was lost in thought and did not notice when she came in.
She wore a sleek blue gown like the other female staff but hers was extremely revealing and showing off her curves. He stared at her perfect body without uttering a single word but broke his stare when he heard Prisca mutter 'Mr. Grey' as he was popularly called.
"Miss... Miss Pris Lance" he slurred. "I didn't see you earlier in my short birthday party".
"Uhh.. Mr. Grey, I was present, you probably didn't notice me" She lied without blinking.
Nicholas was ashamed, after giving it a quick thought, he replied, "We could make it up for a dinner date, right?"
Her response came immediately "Yes sir" as she smiled sheepishly.
She turned to leave but felt his presence right behind her. She knew it was her boss and thought to herself, 'what is he up to this time?'
Prisca knew how badly she fell for him and was not sure she could control herself at that moment.
Before she could move a step further, he held her slim waist and dropped a light peck on her neck.
'Not again, not anymore and worse still, not now' she imagined herself saying these words but unfortunately, she only let out a soft moan in response to his touch.
He felt that was a greenlight to go further and pulled her closer to himself. While his hands roamed all over her body, she slowly turned to face him staring deeply into his enchanting grey eyes.
His body was like a magnet that attracted her to him, driving her body closer to his, in a way that seemed like a mystery to her.
Rather than ashamed this time, she initiated the kiss and he responded immediately with another kiss. Soon their lips were interlocked and he gently took her in his arms kissing her hungrily.
She was always waiting for such moments and there she was, weak and feeble like a new born baby, kissing him helplessly as he returned the kisses in the same manner.
She let out another soft moan as the intensity of the heat increased. He rolled his tongue inside her mouth and kissed her passionately making her beg for more.
Just as she clinged to him and slowly unbuttoned his shirt, she came back to her right senses and dropped her face down feeling very ashamed. She did not recall closing the door when she entered and it dawned on her that if anyone saw them that way, she would be fired immediately, knowing the kind of boss she had.
She tried to break free from his grasp and acutely perceived the smell of alcohol in his breathe.
As she looked at him, his eyes were filled with lust and desires.
"Oh my God! He was drunk" she whispered to herself as she hurriedly rushed towards the door.
"He was only drunk" she cried out while slamming the door behind her.
Prisca sat in her office feeling restless and felt her head splitting. She felt worse than she had ever imagined. She still had a vivid recollection of his encounter with him and was shocked at her own behaviour.
She was a saint and was supposed to set an exemplary life for others to emulate, but her recent encounter with her boss betrayed her behaviour immensely.
How could she forget that her best feature was her God-fearing heart? She felt sober and lost concentration in everything she was supposed to do that day.
The embarrassment she faced throughout the day was biting since she had always wanted to prove herself as a strong, independent and sophisticated lady but deep down she knew that when it comes to Nicholas Grey, she was always submissive.
Prisca dropped her face down in disappointment and tried to gather back her full strength to complete the day's work.
Reluctantly, she stood up, stretched and yawned, she was hungry and needed to take her brunch before attending the meeting scheduled for 3pm.
While climbing down the stairs, she glanced up at the office she left about an hour ago, her boss office. She thought of going back there to question him for his action.
At first, it seemed quite daring but after thinking about it she decided that it was, in fact, a very sensible thing to do.
Lost in thought as she stood there looking at the door of his office and debating within herself between going for brunch and confronting her boss, she got startled when she heard someone call out her name behind her.
"Prisca, are you okay?" she knew who the voice belonged to, Miss Cassie, the HR manager.
She turned to look at Cassie and replied bluntly while trying to fake a smile.
"Yes, I'm good".
Even though Cassie seemed very caring and virtuous, Prisca never liked her because she felt she took all the attention from her boss and it was obvious her boss had a thing for her.
She had no great yearning to keep standing beside her so she moved away slowly without saying a word.
"Just be fine" Cassie yelled at her before she finally disappeared from her gaze.
She must have nodded in response or even ignored her but she knew she was beyond being bothered by that.
Cassie was also heading downstairs but decided to go back since she did not want to pry into anyone's private life.
Immediately she stepped into her office, she heard a loud noise that seemed to come from the distal end of the receptionist's office situated downstairs.
She stood there like a monument with several thoughts running through her mind.
Out of concern, Cassie rushed downstairs and saw a crowd already gathered at the receptionist's office.
At first glance, she thought she had been bullied. But on a closer look, she discovered that it was their job applicants at it again.
Emily, the receptionist, was not even as calm as she appeared. She would definitely talk back at anyone who gets on her nerve.
Little wonder how she was given that position, maybe it was because of the cute smile she wore. They had begged to see Mr. Grey but she kept saying he was temporarily unavailable.
She forcefully made her way to the front of the crowd feeling quite terrible already.
"Hey guys," Cassie shrieked.
Immediately the other staff saw her, they dispersed to their various offices. She stared at them in amazement.
"I need you two to calm down" she added.
They turned towards her direction spontaneously and for some uncharted reason, they stopped arguing and faced her.
"Could you please sit while I attend to you two?", she spoke slowly while making some wild expressions with her fingers.
"Ma", the male applicant spoke, "we have been waiting her for over four hours now and all she does is fiddle with her phone and acting indifferent."
She forced a smile and moved closer to them. She was dressed elegantly with a matching pair of shoes and the female applicant could not stop staring at her. At first, she was uncomfortable with the stares but she later assumed that perhaps, she was admiring her style of dressing.
"As a prospective staff about to be employed, you need not behave that way in a company you intend to work for. Except you both have plans to work somewhere else".
"No ma'am", the female applicant replied.
"I would have assured you that my boss will attend to you in a couple of minutes but that would be too dangerous"
As she spoke, their attention gradually left her to the stairs. She curiously turned round to her boss heading towards her direction.
"Good afternoon sir", they both greeted in unison. He pretended not to hear them and continued with his steps.
"Miss Cassie Peyton", he called out.
"Yes Sir", she answered in fear, "When did it become part of your core duty to address my applicants?"
"Sir... Sir... I was only trying to help" she stammered.
"And who gave you the right to start speaking for me? Firing you right now will only be an understatement on my part. Back to work Miss Peyton!" he groaned.
She hurriedly ran up the stairs with her face down in embarrassment. What will those prospects think of me? She sat in her office feeling very furious. The meeting was about to begin in five minutes but she was already feeling tired and famished.
"If not because he pays very well, I'd quit this job right now ", she said, clenching her fists on her laps.
Shortly, she heard footsteps approaching her office, she tiptoed and peeped through the window. It was her boss again.
"He must have sent them home", she whispered angrily. She never wanted to be a workaholic, all she needed was an assistant and he still refused to grant her request. She stood there staring at him angrily until he was out of sight.
The only thing that made her move away from there was the signal she received from the secretary.
"The meeting!" she exclaimed, stamping her feet on the ground.
Slowly, she arranged some files on her desk and walked sluggishly to the conference room. Of course, she knew she was not late so she did not mind maintaining her pace.
To her surprise, everybody including her boss was seated already probably waiting for her to arrive.
"Gosh", she muttered, she did not hear Mr. Grey passing by again. Even in her disloyalty, she knew she could still be loyal. She entered the hall feeling scared and bowed her head in shame.
"Miss Peyton!", her boss called out, she stopped immediately turning to face him but her face fell in disappointment.
"I hope you know you have proven yourself unworthy to remain an asset in this company?"
She kept mute, that came out worse than she expected.
"Well, I want you to know that your expectations can always be cut off anytime, any day" he added, stressing the last word.
"I am aware sir", she said and moved quietly to an empty seat behind the table.
The next few minutes of the meeting was blurred to her because she had lost concentration. The meeting began with an opening speech by their boss, followed by the secretary reading out the objectives and agenda of the meeting as well as taking down what was going on in the present meeting.
The copies of the agenda were passed round even when there was a projector displaying a larger copy of it for everyone to see. During the course of the meeting, Cassie wanted to remind her boss of his promise to get her an assistant but she chose to keep her mouth shut. She was not ready to be humiliated again, she had gotten enough already for the day. She did not participate in any of the discussions and thankfully, no one seemed to care.
Her boss finally ended the meeting with his regular speech.
"I want to apologize for the inconvenience or calumny, if any, that I may have caused today. I'd always prefer being arduous but please if you insist, humility pays."
That seemed to be his best words because he never failed to mention it at the end of his speech.
The other staff dismissed to their various offices walking in groups of two and three but Cassie delayed a bit before joining them. She wanted to quit her job but kept having second thoughts about it, she was not ready to do something that would make her regret.
She briefly recalled how she went to different companies, knocking from one door to another, attending different interviews only to receive negative feedbacks. She remembered how happy and hopeful she was when she finally got a job and compared it with how far she had gone. She could not give up so easily, she had to bury every thought about quitting, especially when she had no backup plan.
But was she going to continue that way? Was that how he treated other staff or was it just her?
Her face was flushed again with anger.
She gently climbed up the stairs and headed towards her office. She could hear some silly noise coupled with shrieks of laughter from other staff.
While paying attention to every step she took, she saw someone standing in front of her office. It was Marcus, her intent worker.
"Cassie baby" he called out and chuckled before she even got closer to him. She smiled reluctantly.
"What brings you her Marcus? Are you here again to solve problems that aren't yours?" she inquired and they both laughed.
Marcus was a sanguine, always smiling, cheerful and playful. He always cheered her up in situations like that in a way that seemed to be a mystery to her.
He found his way into her office before her and made himself comfortable while she kept on staring at him in surprise. He noticed it and smiled tenderly.
"Cass, you no longer have to guess why I'm here, do you? Relational small talks aren't your thing but you see this four walls?" he continued, "it will make you start feeling like it's a prison unless you go out and breathe some social interactions."
Cassie burst into laughter. She probably could not find the right words for him so he slowly moved from where she was standing and sat beside him looking angry again.
"Oh! Come on! Don't give me that face" he said fiddling with her hair. "Nobody dares to challenge you without seeing an iota of positivity in you. Chill babe, at least he didn't fire you."
Hearing that, she could not help but smile bluntly. "Marc, he didn't fire me today, but what if he eventually does?"
Does that even make sense to you?" He replied, keeping a disgusted face. "Nobody fires a queen with a blonde hair", he said while stroking her hair.
"You never stop flattering me", they both laughed.
"You know your presence glitters my spirit" she chuckled.
"Oh! What a lucky man I am", he laughed again. "Now get up, clear your desk and don't ever put on that lugubrious look on your face again", he said, heading to the door.
"Yes, daddy!" she smiled widely. "Thanks for coming around Marc."
"Don't mention, I'll be back again," he yelled while slamming the door.
Marcus had always taken time to check on her since he was hired. He was always there for her and ensured that she was fine everyday before leaving. But why did he always do that? Was that just his nature or could it be that he was feelings for me? But he never said so, she wondered.
She fell back on the chair and stared at the ceiling for a while, one could think she was counting it except for the fact that she kept blinking continuously. She quickly grabbed her earbuds and wore it in her ears since she was feeling bored already.
She brought her laptop closer and started scrolling in search of a report she made earlier, she needed to copy it into her boss' flash drive so he could analyze it before the next morning. She would probably have no excuse to give for her indolence if she chose to go home since she knew she would not look into a work related issue at home, so she had to complete all work projects before going home.
Since she was in a hurry, she mistakenly deleted the documents instead of copying them. Her recycle bin was full and could not store any recently trashed files. She tried to retrieve the document but to no avail, she let out a snort. She was literally going to spend the next few hours in the office to prepare a new report.
While typing, she kept musing on what happened earlier. She had never received a word of encouragement from her boss, all she got was a warning glare. She also wondered why her fellow workers did not approach her on normal note except on matters relating to work.
Do I really suck? She imagined.
At least, she was sure that she was not a psychopath.
Mr. Grey felt very restless in his office. He wanted to apologize personally to Cassie but he could not. Although most of the staff had left because they were done for the day, Grey slowly went out of his office and stood in front of her office contemplating whether to go in or not.
He hid by the transverse beam that supported the door of her office while peeping at her through the window. He had done all what he did because he wanted her attention and hoped she had not taken it personal. He watched in awe as she sat on her chair looking so relaxed and doing nothing at the moment.
She had always overstayed her working hours just to give him the satisfaction he needed and he did nothing in appreciation for that.
He planned to ask her out several times but brushed it off because he was afraid of getting rejected. No woman had ever said 'NO' to him and he had to make sure she would not be the first. He was not ready to face the shame of being turned down by a lady.
Suddenly, he heard footsteps on the stairs and rushed back to his office. He stood by his window anticipating to see who eventually showed up.
Unbelievably, he squinted at who he saw. It was Marcus, his younger brother whom his mother sent to work as an intern in order to spy on the behaviours of most staff. He stared at him in disbelief as he walked majestically into her office and thought, 'what did he want?'.
Just then, he overheard sounds of laughter. He was instantly furious and wondered what was going on in her office.
Would Cassie stoop so low to fall in love with an intern? That was not the first time he saw them together, but he had never smelt a rat since he knew Marcus had a fiancée.
He paced around his office in pure agitation and bitterness. He felt his heart beating faster than normal and he started breathing heavily.
What he felt was more than just affection towards her. He wanted to see what she looked like beneath the chemise she wore. Even though he always liked his women slim and curvy, he would totally make an exception for Cassie.
Cassie was slightly chubby with the right curves at the right places and always looked enchanting. He wanted to cuddle her tenderly and greedily savour the taste of her.
With that in his mind, he could feel his blood riling up and pounding through his veins. He knew he would not be able to stand there and keep hearing them roar repeatedly with laughter. He kept himself busy for the rest of the day as a distraction to keep his anger at bay.
Working seemed to be his best comfort in situations like that but even though he indulged himself wholeheartedly in it, that was the first time in his entire life that it did not seem to work.
He felt more distracted from work and feeling very furious, he knew he had to do something else to reduce the outburst of rage that was burning within him.
Miss Lance laid on the couch watching the puffy clouds with its dazzling texture from her window while creating beautiful pictures on her mind.
She was rather nervous and excited at the same time to go on a dinner date with her boss. She had been longing for such moments so she knew she would have to spend a lot of time working on herself. She wanted to appear with that perfect look of Princess Qajar, an iconic beauty symbol of Persia.
She had invited her best friend, Scarlett, over to her house to make her over. Even though she knew Scarlett was always devoted to her work, she hoped for a positive response.
Pushing a bit forward, she picked up her girdle from the table where she had kept it earlier and wore it. She wanted to slim down her natural waistline to get an hourglass figure. She did not want anything that will steal her boss' attention from her that evening.
At the thought of that, she heard her phone beep. She hurried to check and saw a message from her friend, Scarlett had accepted the invitation.
"Yes!!!" she shouted, jumping up in excitement and punching the air with her fist.
"Scarlett is good at what she does, she will definitely give me that glamorous look I deserve", she said, making some funny moves out of anxiety.
She moved straight to the mirror in her bedroom to admire herself again. The girdle she wore caused a little discomfort along her abdominal region but she knew that she had to endure.
Pulling her stomach in, she tried to adjust the girdle to a different position but this made her wince more in pain. Obviously, her stomach was deeply compressed as it was earlier.
"Anything for you boss!", she screeched, moving slowly from the mirror to her living room while struggling to take it off.
She sprawled out on her couch eagerly waiting for her best friend to arrive so they could make preparations for the evening. She stretched and grabbed the TV remote on the table, leaned back and tuned her favourite channel to keep her company.
"Ouch!!" she exclaimed, her favourite TV show, "Love Scandal" was in two hours time. She was sad when she realised she would miss out for that evening.
Suddenly, she was engrossed in the show but was revived by a knock on the door. Rather excited, she ran towards the door and opened it. She was not mistaken by who she saw.
"Scarlett!" She screamed. The duo hugged each other while grinning happily.
"Won't you invite me in?" Scarlett teased, a smile of joy and satisfaction lit up her eager face as they went inside the house.
"OMG! Prisca! You seem to change every day!" Scarlett screamed.
"Just like a chameleon?" Prisca asked as she turned to face her best friend. "Well, if the chameleon didn't welcome change, I doubt it would have still been a divine creature," she continued.
Both giggled as Scarlett tried to change the topic.
"Come on girl, what have you been up to lately?"
"Well... nothing much, just taking each day as it comes" Prisca said curling her lips.
"Oh dear" Scarlett muttered, "Stop talking like that. Come to life Prisca! Life is full of surprises. You never know for sure what your future will look like."
"Exactly" Prisca cut in. "This is about elevated basics, not to keep doing the same thing over and over again.
"It's okay." Scarlett said as she patted her back. "You know we will always dwell on who we later become and not who we are now right?" Scarlett watched her as she chuckled. "Cheer up babe! let's get started. Besides, we have a lot to talk about.
"You have a lot to talk about " Prisca said pointing her fingers at her, "because I'm not going to reveal my secrets to you damn fool", they both burst out laughing.
Exhausted, Scarlett slumped on the couch, Prisca soon joined her.
"Prisca baby" she teased tapping her lightly, "could you please tell me what is going on between you and your boss?"
Prisca choked, letting out a loud cough. She was surprised to hear her friend say that.
"Okay" she said, clearing her throat. "My boss invited me over for dinner at his favourite restaurant."
"Uh..Oh!" Scarlett smirked, "He did what?" she asked sounding more surprised as though she did not receive her message earlier on.
"Oh Scarlett! You heard me right. Stop the pretence."
"Well you should get used to me by now" Scarlett said rolling her eyes.
She lifted up her face to look at her, they sat vis-à-vis on the couch and their eyes met. They spent some minutes glaring at each other while making some funny expressions on their faces.
"Gotta bug out on you," Prisca mumbled leaving Scarlett behind while she immediately fixed her gaze on the TV.
Few minutes later, she returned with a towel wrapped around her body and found Scarlett engrossed in the ongoing TV show. She reached out for the remote and paused it.
"Scarlett!" she scowled, "is this not the same channel you detested watching some months ago?"
"People change." she murmured.
"Oh, I see. Would you like a piece of apple pie or some burgers?" Prisca asked, walking out of the room.
"I'd rather make myself comfortable!!" Scarlett yelled. She leapt out of the couch and walked towards the kitchen. Shortly, she appeared with a tray of cupcakes and a bottle of lemonade.
Prisca later returned and stood there staring at her with mouth agape.
"You're watching your weight for goodness sake. You're not supposed to take all of that."
Without further hesitation, Scarlett devoured the cupcakes and poured the lemonade into an empty glass and gulped down on it.
"Well check this out glutton" she mocked and threw some of the dresses she was holding at her."
"You need to wear them consecutively" Scarlett replied while her attention seemed to be on the cake she was eating.
"You know what?" Prisca smirked as he bent over to retrieve her clothes, "this was actually a bad idea, you can leave. She reached for the door handle. Scarlett gestured towards the door and made a sound between a gasp and a laugh.
"You invited me here. I mean, you need me" she giggled.
She was absolutely right, I needed her but she did not have to keep behaving indifferently.
"Obviously!!" Prisca screamed.
Scarlett carefully dropped the tray on the table and gave out a loud burp.
"Disgusting!" Prisca snapped.
"Whatever, I can't waste my manners on you" she cooed.
"You don't have manners at all, you should literally stop making up for yourself," Prisca retorted.
Scarlett smiled while approaching her, "let me have them!" she ordered.
Prisca handed over the clothes to her without uttering a single word. Scarlett looked at the dresses one after the other and handed over a black silky gown, with diamonds sparkling all over it like stars to her, she looked at it for a moment and smiled happily.
"Wear it while I bring my makeup kits" she added.
She returned with the makeup kits and surprisingly saw her friend sitting quietly on the chair beside the mirror waiting for her, she took the opportunity to tease her.
"Looks like a perfect day for being submissive to me."
"You better hurry up so you don't make me late".Prisca retorted.
'Right,' 'Miss bossy was back,' she thought.
Scarlett delicately gave her eyebrows a quick check and plucked out some stray hairs while shaping them perfectly. She gently applied a bold makeup on her that incorporated both smoky eyes, red lips and a thick black liner around the eyes. She slowly untied her hair which was packed in a bun and styled it elegantly while attaching some heart shaped hair clips on it to keep the hair away from her face. Prisca smiled sweetly as she stared deeply into the mirror. She loved the reflection she saw.
"Don't you think this might be an overkill for a dinner date?" she asked softly.
"No sweetheart. I did not change your appearance, I only improved it. Besides, your looks are important." She teased.
"Thank you Scar," Prisca grinned.
"Oh, don't mention. I'd personally go all out for my girl just to see that bright smile illuminate even the darkest corners of this room."
Prisca smiled as she stood up and spritzed her neck with cologne. Still unsatisfied, she lightly spritzed the cologne in the air and quickly walked through the mist.
"You know that your mild fragrance could be overpowering and you don't have to bathe yourself in it after you've already used your deodorant." Scarlett warned.
She nodded in response and immediately wore her silver strappy heels. She was standing behind Scarlett, feeling a bit nervous. But then, even if she was, she wouldn't dare show it.
"Are you comfortable in that dress?", she heard Scarlett ask.
"Yes" she replied right back.
She reached for her purse on the table and turned to say goodbye to Scarlett.
"Hey babe! You have the whole house to yourself," she winked at her. Scarlett sniffed, feeling rather lonely and forsaken.
"Make sure you stay calm and in case you choose your drink, please don't go overboard." she warned.
"Yes mum," she snorted, "and please keep my house clean." Prisca said while walking out on her.
Prisca arrived at the hotel earlier than the actual time she and her boss agreed on. The atmosphere was warm with great ambience. She walked slowly to the lounge with her keen eyes being quite observant.
It was a rowdy environment indeed, she thought.
She grabbed a seat and tuned in to a fairly miraculous recovery even though she seemed to have been under slight pressure. She decided to order for some drinks to settle her nerves.
Even with the loud music, she felt a degree of reluctant admiration for the waves of hedonism that encircled the area.
She sat there sipping at her wine continuously and swishing it around in her mouth hoping that her boss could just turn up immediately.
