Chapter 1 Her Memories Are Back

"Hannah, we need to get a divorce!"

Only moments earlier, Hannah Greene had been moved from the ICU into an ordinary hospital room. She was still lying in bed, her body wracked with pain, when the divorce papers were thrust in her face.

Unable to turn her neck because of the brace around it, she struggled to lift her head. As she did, the old scar on the left side of her face became more evident.

Standing beside the bed was her husband, Adrian Foster, and there was no warmth in his expression.

"Why?" she asked. Her voice was so weak that getting the words out took a lot of effort. Even swallowing felt painful, as though pieces of broken glass were lodged in her throat.

"Kaitlin's legs are badly fractured because of what you did. She may lose the ability to dance for the rest of her life!" Adrian spoke with open disgust, and the disappointment in his voice only made his accusation hurt more. "Tell me why you hit her with your car."

Hannah stared at him as his words sank in.

Once again, it was about Kaitlin Foster, the adopted daughter of Adrian's parents.

"I never hit her with my car." Hannah let her eyes fall shut as her rough voice faded into barely a whisper.

Divorce was something she could accept, but taking responsibility for something she hadn't done was another matter.

Explaining everything should have been the natural thing to do. But after everything she had endured and the fact that she had nearly died, she could no longer bring herself to care about convincing anyone that she was innocent.

"You're still trying to deny it?" Adrian leaned closer and pointed at her until his finger could almost touch the tip of her nose. "Don't assume my grandfather will always shield you from the consequences. You hurt Kaitlin's legs, so you owe her for what happened. I will make sure you pay for it eventually."

Slowly, Hannah opened her eyes. "You want me to pay?"

For the past three years, she had poured all her time into looking after Adrian and doing whatever his mother asked of her. She had woken up early and gone to sleep late every day, doing everything she could to take care of things for them.

Throughout their marriage, Adrian had never been intimate with her. He had also never once brought her along when he attended a social gathering.

By now, she believed that she had done far more than she ever should have.

Something about the complete lack of emotion in Hannah's eyes made Adrian feel a bit uneasy, although he could not understand why.

Even with the scar, he had always known that she was beautiful. Her features were soft but memorable: large, innocent eyes, a slender nose, and full lips that naturally drew people's attention.

Three years ago, a serious injury had left a deep scar across the left side of her face. The doctors had said that the damage was too severe to fully repair.

At one point, Adrian had thought about having a child with Hannah as soon as possible because he wanted to please his grandfather, who had always wanted a great-grandchild. But that thought disappeared whenever his eyes landed on her scar.

In his eyes, Hannah had always been timid and dull, with no opinions of her own.

Kaitlin, meanwhile, was different. She was lively and charming.

Looking at the woman in the hospital bed now, though, Adrian couldn't shake the feeling that he was seeing someone he barely knew.

Before he could say anything else, the hospital room door swung open.

"Adrian, please don't be angry with Hannah. She's fine now, and that's what matters most. I just don't know if I'll ever be able to dance again..."

Kaitlin entered the room in an electric wheelchair. Her white dress was covered in small floral patterns, and tears still rested on her eyelashes.

She had deliberately made herself look fragile.

"Kaitlin, stop saying things like that." Adrian immediately moved over to her and placed his hand gently on her shoulder. His worry for her was written plainly across his face.

There was no doubt that Kaitlin meant more to him than anyone else.

From the hospital bed, Hannah quietly watched the two of them.

For the past three years, Kaitlin had acted like the kind and thoughtful woman in front of everyone while secretly finding ways to make her suffer.

What had happened with the car had been the worst thing she had done yet.

Kaitlin lowered her gaze to the casts covering both of her legs at that moment. "I'm only scared that you will see me as a burden now..." she said to Adrian.

Hearing that seemed to tear at Adrian's heart.

He reached up and gently held her face. "You will never become a burden to me. Even if you can never stand or walk again, I will still look after you for the rest of my life."

With every passing second, the scene became more laughable to Hannah.

Kaitlin seemed to remember that Hannah was still present, so she gently pushed Adrian away and lowered her eyes as if she were embarrassed by his concern.

"Hannah, you really don't need to blame yourself. I know that you don't like me, but I have never held that against you."

For just a second, a trace of satisfaction flashed in her eyes.

This was exactly the moment she had been waiting for. She wanted to watch Hannah fall apart after Adrian finally chose to abandon her.

But rather than give Kaitlin the reaction she wanted, Hannah simply met her eyes calmly.

Nothing resembling the heartbreak Kaitlin had expected appeared on her face.

After giving up three years of her life for this marriage, Hannah suddenly realized how pointless all of it had been.

Despite the damage the car accident had caused, she could not deny that it had given her something good.

She had nearly died, but the trauma had also brought her missing memories back.

Three years ago, Roderick Foster, Adrian's grandfather, had refused to accept Adrian's relationship with Kaitlin. He had sent Kaitlin overseas and then arranged for Adrian to marry her, a woman whose face had been left badly scarred and who could not remember her own identity or anything about her past.

Since that marriage began, the Foster family had treated her as though surviving was already more than she deserved, and they had expected her to be thankful for whatever little they gave her.

But that life was over now.

Chapter 2 I Don't Want Anything From You

After an explosion had nearly claimed her life three years ago, Hannah had fled to Ockdale. Before unconsciousness could take over, she made a deal with Roderick.

In return for a safe place to hide for the time being, she handed him the mining rights to the largest diamond deposit in Qester.

By the time she woke up again, however, she had lost her memory. Somehow, she had even become Adrian's wife.

For several seconds, Hannah said nothing as she studied Kaitlin's face. Her eyes eventually dropped to Kaitlin's legs, which were wrapped in casts, and an amused smile appeared on her lips.

"Did you really break your legs?" she asked.

The moment the question left her mouth, she grabbed the glass sitting beside the bed and threw it.

It flew straight toward Kaitlin and struck one of the casts with a sharp crack.

A terrified scream burst from Kaitlin as she instinctively jumped out of the wheelchair. She stumbled forward, and the cast around her leg cracked apart.

Broken plaster and fragments of glass spilled across the floor.

"Kaitlin!" Adrian hurried over and caught her before turning toward Hannah again. The disbelief in his eyes was impossible to hide.

For the past three years, Hannah had never even dared to challenge him openly once.

Even when Kaitlin claimed that Hannah had caused the car crash, he had still questioned whether her accusation was completely true. Now, however, he had just watched Hannah attack Kaitlin with his own eyes.

After seeing that, how could he continue doubting Kaitlin's version of what had happened?

"You-" Adrian began.

"Didn't you say your legs were broken?" Hannah glanced down at the broken cast on the floor before looking back at Kaitlin. A mocking laugh escaped her lips.

All this time, Adrian had accepted such an obvious lie without questioning it. Hannah finally understood that the truth had never mattered to him because his heart had already belonged to Kaitlin.

Something about Hannah's expression made Adrian pause.

For the first time, he felt as though the woman before him was someone he had never truly known.

Painful whimpers continued to escape Kaitlin's mouth. Adrian was about to comfort her when something caught his attention.

Once the broken cast had fallen away, Kaitlin's calf was completely visible.

Not even a faint bruise was on her smooth skin.

Silence settled over the room.

Panic flashed across Kaitlin's face, and her unsteady body began to sway.

"Adrian..."

Her fragile voice jolted Adrian, and he immediately pulled her into his arms.

Since childhood, Kaitlin had followed him everywhere and treated him like the older brother she admired. She had always presented herself as the gentle and innocent younger sister. Had she really deceived him about something this serious?

"I'm bleeding..."

A piece of broken glass had sliced into Kaitlin's calf. She twisted her leg on purpose, forcing the wound more open so the injury would appear much worse.

Blood quickly seeped from the cut as tears rolled down her cheeks.

Seeing the blood should have made Adrian worry about her, yet irritation rose in him instead.

Although Kaitlin had clearly exaggerated the extent of her injuries, he still believed the car crash was real.

He had personally watched the surveillance footage showing Hannah's car hitting Kaitlin, after all. If the collision had been more severe, Kaitlin could have permanently lost the ability to walk.

In his mind, Kaitlin had only pretended to be worse off because she wanted his attention and sympathy. Even if she had deceived him, he believed her actions came from the countless times he had failed to give her the care she deserved.

His urge to protect her won over his disappointment in her lie. He turned his cold gaze toward Hannah. "Why couldn't you just say it instead of attacking her?"

"I already said it. You simply chose not to believe me."

Hannah reached for the pen beside the bed and signed her name on the divorce agreement.

Her signature was quick and firm, and she didn't hesitate for even a second.

After that, she threw the document toward Adrian.

"We're finished. From this moment on, you and I have nothing to do with each other," she said.

Adrian stared at the signed divorce agreement, and he could not make sense of the strange feeling rising in his chest.

Was he upset because Hannah was actually willing to leave him so easily, or did some part of him feel relieved that the wife he had never loved was finally walking away?

After a while, he said, "All right. I'll have someone prepare a separate property settlement agreement and send it to you later-"

"There's no need. I don't want anything from you. Just leave."

Hannah settled back against the pillows. Watching Adrian and Kaitlin continue their little intimate act held no interest for her.

A frown settled across Adrian's face. "You don't want anything from me? You've spent the last three years as a housewife. What kind of work do you think you can find now? You can't survive on your own. I'll give you one million dollars. That will be enough for you to live comfortably for the rest of your life."

Lately, he had been negotiating a financing deal, and the last thing he wanted was for news outlets to report that his ex-wife had become a homeless person.

Hannah lowered her eyes and let out a quiet chuckle. "I'll pass. You should keep the money and spend it on figuring out what's wrong with your head."

"You!"

Never before had Adrian encountered this side of Hannah.

Her every response carried a sharpness that left him unable to come up with a reply.

Seeing the tension between them, Kaitlin quickly reached for Adrian's sleeve. "Adrian, she just came out of surgery. Let's not argue with her right now. Give her some time to calm down."

While speaking, she could not stop herself from glancing at the divorce agreement. She had to suppress the smile threatening to appear on her face.

Adrian was finally going to be hers!

As one of Ockdale's most powerful heirs, Adrian had too much pride to lower himself and try to change her mind, especially after he had already decided he no longer wanted her as his wife.

"Don't come looking for me when you realize you've made a huge mistake."

With that, Adrian scooped Kaitlin into his arms and carried her out of the room.

Once the hospital door closed behind Adrian and Kaitlin, silence returned to the room.

Hannah stared at the ceiling with a cold smile.

Did Adrian honestly believe she would regret walking away from him?

Using the edge of the bed for support, she leaned over and grabbed her purse from the bedside table. Her phone was still inside, its screen covered in cracks.

After unlocking it, she opened the browser and typed in a web address that had only just returned to her mind after three years.

A black webpage soon appeared on the screen.

Chapter 3 The World's Top Hacker Returns

Hannah's account was packed with unread messages. The most recent message was from six months ago.

V had written, "Void, are you really dead? Please tell me you just went off the grid! There's no way anyone could have actually killed you!"

Hannah's hands shook faintly as she read the message.

Three years ago, she had traveled to Trodon to carry out a classified S-tier mission. However, she had walked straight into an explosive ambush.

The authorities and the criminal underworld had both concluded that she was dead.

Hannah reached up and brushed her fingers over the scar on her face, letting out a soft, almost amused laugh. Then, she began typing her response.

"I'm back. I'm in Ockdale."

The moment she tried to get out of bed, a sharp wave of pain shot through her body. Gritting her teeth, she reached for the crutches beside the bed and slowly limped out of the room.

She knew the Foster family better than anyone. If she remained here, they would take turns finding new ways to humiliate and torment her. She refused to waste her time dealing with them.

She moved toward the elevator, walking carefully.

When the elevator doors slid open, she was met by a pair of eyes so cold and impassive that they resembled a frozen winter lake.

They belonged to a man sitting inside the elevator in a wheelchair, a thin blanket covering his legs. His complexion was unnaturally pale, and his sharply defined features gave his face an almost sculpted appearance.

It was Kellan Larson.

He was currently the head of the Larson family, one of Ockdale's most influential and powerful families. His accomplishments in the business world had already become legendary.

Many years ago, following the death of the old leader of the Larson family, his children had nearly destroyed the family by fighting among themselves for control. Their internal struggle had left the family business severely weakened. Kellan had eventually stepped in, managed to turn the company around in just six months, and then expanded the family business' reach into the overseas energy and defense industries.

According to rumors, Kellan had lost the use of his legs years ago while saving a woman. After that incident, his temperament reportedly became more unpredictable, and he gradually stopped appearing in public.

Hannah certainly hadn't expected to run into him here.

Was he here to receive treatment?

Without showing the slightest hint that she recognized him, she quietly glanced away. Leaning on her crutches, she stepped into the elevator and positioned herself beside him.

The already narrow space suddenly felt suffocating.

Kellan cast a brief, indifferent glance in her direction.

Behind his wheelchair, his subordinate, Zayne Clark, stared at Hannah as if she had lost her mind. Had she somehow failed to notice the sign outside stating that this was a private elevator?

They had just finished a consultation in the hospital's exclusive VIP wing on the top floor. During the entire ride down, no one else had even dared to summon the elevator.

Zayne was already thinking about how he could get Hannah to leave.

"Miss." He spoke. "You'll have to step outside. This is a private elevator."

Hannah remained exactly where she was.

"My leg is broken," she replied calmly. "Are you seriously asking me to leave like this?"

Zayne's eyes moved from the crutches to the old scar running across her face.

She certainly did not appear to be faking her injuries.

For perhaps the first time, Zayne didn't know what to say.

"Lobby, please," Hannah said in a polite tone.

Zayne blinked in shock. This woman was incredibly bold. Did she have any idea what would happen to people who managed to offend his boss?

He snuck a glance at Kellan, but the man's expression held no anger.

With no other option, Zayne pressed the button to close the elevator doors.

The entire ride took less than ten seconds, yet the atmosphere felt so tense that Zayne could barely breathe.

Kellan had always been impossible to predict. But what surprised him even more was the woman beside them. Why was she so calm? Kellan's intimidating presence didn't seem to affect her in the slightest.

Just then, a chime announced the elevator had reached the lobby.

Hannah stepped out, supporting herself with her crutches. Without a backward glance, she continued on her way.

Kellan's eyes followed her as she slowly crossed the lobby.

She seemed to know who he was.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Larson," Zayne said in a low voice. "I'll have keycard access installed on the private elevator right away."

"Okay." Kellan's voice was as emotionless as ever.

At that moment, a message appeared on Zayne's phone. He glanced down at the screen, and his entire body immediately stiffened.

"Mr. Larson, Rylee just detected activity from Void's dark web account. It's active again, and it looks like Void is actually in Ockdale!"

Kellan's hands tightened slightly where they rested against his numb thighs.

It had been three years.

Void was the most skilled hacker in the world, a mysterious figure who moved effortlessly between official organizations and the criminal underworld. No one had ever seen Void's face, and after the incident in Trodon, the entire world had assumed the hacker was dead.

But Void was still alive.

"If we can get Void to help us locate Dr. G, then Dr. G might be able to heal your legs!" Zayne said, barely able to contain his excitement.

Dr. G had a reputation for treating patients other doctors had already declared beyond saving.

They had searched relentlessly for Dr. G for years. They had contacted every legitimate and underworld connection at their disposal, yet they had not managed to uncover even the slightest trace of the elusive doctor.

Rumors had it that Dr. G and Void had a close relationship.

For the first time, a faint hint of emotion slipped into Kellan's normally detached voice.

"Tell Rylee to find Void at all costs."
