The bed sheets at the hotel room was soaked with Flora Meng's tears. With tears rolling down her cheeks, she cried, "Chris! How could you..."
She had no strength left in her to fight back. She felt like an animal locked up in a cage, waiting to be slaughtered. She looked at Chris Su with fear, like the prey looked at its predator.
As the drug started to kick in, her cheeks became flushed and her sexy collarbones were revealed. Chris Su ignored her plea for help and stroked her smooth skin, his hot breath brushing against her ear. "I want to marry you. I won't marry anyone else but you. You will be my wife, Flora!"
His rough palm brushed against her smooth skin as he touched her neck. She felt as though her skin was on fire, making her squirm at his touch.
"No!"
she cried out. She was desperate and furious at the same time.
They had dated for two years in high school and had been in a long-distance relationship for four years during their college years. They had never had sex during these years. After fantasizing about her body for days and nights, how could he not want to use it for his pleasure?
She became frightened and her anger turned into a prayer as she begged, "Don't do this, please. You're a good man, Chris. This isn't like you!"
However, regardless of how much she pleaded, he wouldn't stop. He kept stroking her skin, which make every hair on her body stand. He was completely lost in desire. How could he hear her pleas?
"I hate you! I will hate you for the rest of my life!" she roared, using the last bit of strength left in her, as she dug her fingernails into his flesh.
"You will forgive me!" He bent down to kiss her collarbones.
Everything in front of her slowly started to turn blurry and her sanity was falling apart because of the drug. She closed her eyes in despair and tears continued to trickle down her cheeks.
Just when she was about to accept her terrible fate, she heard a loud bang. Chris Su panicked and moved away from her.
She couldn't tell if she was dreaming or if it was real. She felt as though someone was wrapping a blanket around her and lifted her. She could hear a man cursing. The man was holding her, but he wasn't supporting her well, so her body swayed. She had an uncomfortable feeling as though there a volcano had erupted inside her and the magma was burning her from within.
Just for a second, she felt a cool breeze as the man moved her to another room.
He dropped her on the bed and stared at her coldly as he touched the back of his head. He felt a warm liquid oozing out of his head and his expression darkened.
He then turned around and walked away. As he headed for the bathroom, he stopped for a second when he heard her groan. But then, he ignored her and went into the bathroom.
Once he was inside the bathroom, Ivan Gu hastily cleaned the wound at the back of his head. If she hadn't wrapped her arms around him, blocking his vision, he wouldn't have been hit by the ashtray that Chris Su threw at him.
After he cleaned his wound and washed the blood off his hands, Ivan Gu walked out of the bathroom only to find Flora Meng rolling on the floor. The drug had caused her to feel so hot that she couldn't stand being wrapped in the blanket. However, she grabbed the blanket again, draping it around her, as though there was a fire burning within her waiting to be extinguished.
Ivan frowned and regretted having saved her from Chris Su' hands. He walked over to her and snatched the blanket from her hands. He then wrapped it around her and picked her up. But as he dropped her on the bed and withdrew his hand, she caught his arm.
His cold arm felt refreshing, so she wrapped herself around him tightly, like a vine. He was still in a daze when he felt her arms around him. Something wet and soft was caressing his neck.
He had always been a calm person, but somehow her touch set him on fire and his desire grew uncontrollably.
No woman had ever touched him the way she did.
She was faster than he expected. Before he knew, his shirt fell to the floor as the buttons came apart. He could even hear the buttons falling to the floor. If James Qin and Allen Qi had been here, they would have teased him. Ivan Gu could almost feel James Qin patting him on the shoulder as he said, "Our boy Ivan has finally become a man!"
How could he let a woman control his desires?
He pushed her away abruptly. Perhaps, he had been a little too brute with her that he could see his fingerprints on her smooth skin. With a frown, she pouted and grumbled, "Ouch! That hurt."
She showed her weakness, which caused him to pull her closer. She covered his mouth, making him gasp. He wanted to push her away, but when he saw her tremble pitifully, he couldn't.
With every touch of her lips, she set his skin on fire. His eyes were filled with desire. Ivan let go of her for just a second, but then he noticed her opening her eyes and smiling at him. He could only think of one word to describe the feeling-breathtaking.
And before he realized, he had tightened his grip around her waist, pulling her closer.
Most of her shirt buttons had already been undone in Chris Su's room, and now her breast was almost exposed. Ivan Gu couldn't control himself, even if he wanted to.
She was going to be his sooner or later, anyway, so he wouldn't mind having sex to her now.
He held her flawless back as he thrust himself deep into her.
Their warm breaths intertwined, and his sweat cooled down her body, just the way she wanted it. She sucked him in, little by little. And the more he pleased her, the greedier she became.
The warm sun shone through the crack between the curtains, gradually heating her skin until she felt hot. The drug was starting to wear off, and she could hear some noises in the room.
She saw him by the bed, with his back to her, as he got dressed. Only a second before he put his shirt back on, she noticed a distinct mark on his back. As he put on his pants, she could hear the sound of his zipper.
She closed her eyes again, and what happened last night all started flooding back to her. The panic in her mind condensed into rage. And in the end, all she could say was, "You bastard."
As Ivan was buttoning up his sleeves, a pillow came from behind him and hit him in the head. He became shocked and his expression darkened.
Last night, Chris had thrown an ashtray at him and now, Flora was throwing a pillow at him. What did they want from him?
However, he didn't dwell on the thought, and went back to buttoning his sleeves.
Flora felt her body sore all over, making her feel angrier than she was. Suddenly, something occurred to her. The man in front of her was at least a few inches taller than Chris. Moreover, he had a very unique sense of calmness to him which Chris never had.
Upon realizing that, she couldn't help but blurt out, "I'm sorry..."
She didn't know what made her apologize to him. She thought for a while and understood that she was frustrated from her relationship with Chris. They had been together for so many years, yet he had found the most unspeakable way to force her into marrying him. However, she couldn't explain why she slept with another man. Wasn't it Chris who had taken her to the hotel room? Why was there another man in front of her?
The man just stood there quietly, which only brought up more questions in her mind, puzzling her.
Once Ivan was done buttoning his sleeves, he turned to her and said coldly, "I performed well last night."
The sunlight touched his face, outlining his sharp nose, perfect lips and chiseled jaw. Flora almost thought that he was an illusion. She didn't come to her senses until after he left the room, closing the door behind him. His handsome face and sexy voice lingered in her mind.
But then, she thought of what he had just said.
"Performed well?"
Flora repeated his words with a flush on her cheeks. But the very next moment, she felt dispirited and shrunk like a deflated balloon. Her hair was messed up. Flora thought of how despicable Chris was, and couldn't help but cry.
She was a conservative woman. She had thought that he wouldn't take her virginity until they were married, but he broke her heart by drugging her and trying to rape her, which ended up her losing her virginity to a stranger.
What an asshole!
Wiping her tears away, she began to look for her clothes.
However, when she found a shirt, she was shocked. Whose was it? It certainly wasn't hers! Could it be that man's?
Perplexed, she picked it up from the floor.
"The buttons..." she muttered.
Most of the buttons on the shirt had been ripped off.
Her eyes went wide with horror. Was it that man's doing or was it her doing? She wondered and felt ashamed of herself.
"Ah!" Holding her head, she let out a scream. She then sighed and pouted.
The only thing that was on her mind was that she must be shameless to have behaved like that.
At three o'clock in the afternoon, on the 26th floor of the Millennium Building
As he gazed at the pile of documents in front of him, Ivan was lost in thought as memories of the previous night kept replaying in his mind.
That moment, he heard someone knock on the door twice. Then the room was filled with the scent of fresh hot milk. Closing the door behind him, James announced with excitement, "I was passing by a shop when I smelled amazing egg tarts. It was even better than the ones I got from the coffee shop downstairs." He laid out a dozen of delicious egg tarts on the coffee table. He then grabbed one and took a bite, exclaiming, "Oh my God! This is amazing! I've never met anyone who can make egg tarts as delicious as these. Ivan, would you like to try one?"
Ivan's head was still hurting from last night, so he rubbed his temples and replied, "No thanks!"
James knew that he didn't have a sweet tooth, so he didn't force him. After he chowed down on two more tarts, he walked over to him.
"Ah!" He noticed a small red patch on his neck and exclaimed after he leaned in and took a closer look. "Is that what I think it is?"
Ivan pushed him away, and went back to reading the document.
"Ivan! You have finally become a man! Well, now, your grandpa can rest in peace without any worries!" James said. He couldn't believe his own eyes and was happy for his friend.
Ivan's grandfather, Greg Gu, was still alive!
Ivan lifted his head and gave him an icy stare.
"All right, fine! I shouldn't have said that and I am sorry," James said grimly. He knew that Ivan was close to his grandfather, who loved him dearly. Scratching his head, he asked, "By the way, how is your grandfather?"
"He has been discharged from the hospital,"
Greg Gu was a strong man. Although he'd had some joint pain, he had never been that seriously ill in his life. But then, two months ago, he had a serious stroke, which had alarmed everyone in the family, including Ivan.
As the thought of his grandfather faded away, Ivan thought of the woman he was with last night.
The previous night had been just as beautiful as any other night in S City. There were small neon lights which hung from the trees, looking like glowing berries. It was winter, but it was never excessively cold in S City.
A man stood by a tree, lighting his last cigarette as a woman approached him. As she came closer, he quickly threw the cigarette onto the ground and put it out.
It was Flora. She looked at the cigarette butt on the ground and frowned. However, she hid her displeasure and greeted him politely, "It's been a while since we met."
The man was Chris. He had been waiting for her to throw herself at him, but her politeness shocked him.
"Aren't you going to come with me?" he asked with a frown.
"Where? L County? I think I've made myself very clear, Chris.
That place won't work for me," she said firmly.
Chris grabbed her by the arm and roared, "Can't you do this for me? Can't you live there for us?"
"Why should I? When you can come to S City for me instead," she muttered, gritting her teeth.
"Why can't you live in L County? I work in a government unit in L County now, and once we get married, I can buy a house for us there. Doesn't that sound nice? Why do you always have to look down upon smaller towns? You can't always expect to live in a big city, right?" Chris questioned. To him, there was nothing wrong with living in a small town. However, he couldn't understand why Flora hated smaller towns. If they both started working in government units, they could easily afford to get married and have kids. Soon, they would also be able to buy a house for themselves. Their life would be better than those of most people in L County.
Did she hate him? Chris had always wondered if she thought lowly of him because of his status. Flora had always wanted to live in a big city where there was always something new to try, places to explore and dreams worth pursuing. She didn't want to live in a small town, leading a small life.
She sneered and pulled her hand away, feeling disappointed. "You're the one who is being adamant!" she roared.
Only two months ago, they had split up and decided that they would never meet each other again. However, a few days ago, Chris called her and told her that he had come to S City, wanting to meet her. Flora thought that he was finally willing to accept to her terms and live there, but she was wrong. Chris had been a disappointment to her one more time.
After a few minutes of silence, Chris whispered, "Flora..."
When Flora heard that, her heart skipped a beat. She lifted her head and looked into his bloodshot eyes. That was when she noticed the stubble on his face. He used to be well groomed and cared a lot about his appearance, but now he looked haggard and worn. Did he go through a lot lately?
As she thought of that, her heart ached and tears welled up in her eyes, but she turned away, hiding her feelings.
"Please, let's go and get a drink. Consider this as our last date," Chris said with a bitter smile.
They had dated for nearly two years in high school and been in a long-distance relationship while they were in college. Their friends were even asked them when they were going to get married. But alas, no one had expected that they would break up eventually.
Flora nodded reluctantly and let him take her to a cafe.
Not far away, a black Maserati moved slowly as soon as the two of them started walking.
Flora enjoyed drinking caramel lattes at S City, which was rare to find in a town like L County. Even if they came across a cafe which did serve the expensive drink in L County, it would never taste authentic. But the caramel latte which she had that day was just horrible. She avoided looking him in the eye, but Chris glanced at her longingly.
"I'm going to the bathroom," she said. Flora thought that it was too depressing and had to vent out her frustration.
"All right!" Chris replied, looking at her until she walked around the corner and disappeared.
She returned after ten minutes, but instead of sitting down, she picked up her bag and said, "Let's go back."
"Hold on! Finish your drink first," Chris ordered, grabbing her arm.
Although she hated it, Flora drank it without throwing a tantrum. Upon seeing that, Chris felt relieved and said, "I would like to go for a walk before we say our goodbyes."
There was an unmistakable pain behind his faint smile. When Flora heard that, her heart ached just as bad, but she faked a smile and said, "All right, then!"
As they walked along the river bank, they felt a cool refreshing breeze brush past their skin. However, she felt something was off. She was getting hotter and hotter. Even after she removed her sweater, her body was felt like it was on fire. Her vision started to blur and she felt too weak to walk.
That was when she realized that there was something wrong with her. She stopped Chis and said, "Chris, I think..."
The moment he held her, he felt her body burning and trembling.
"You don't look so well. How about I take you back to my place so you can rest for a while? The hotel I'm staying at is not far away from here," he said.
"Okay," she replied weakly. Flora had never felt like that before. How could she possibly know what had caused her to feel sick all of a sudden?
The moment they entered the hotel room, Chris closed the door behind them.
"I think I should go to the hospital," she said while she was still conscious. But then, he pounced on her, making her scream.
He stroked her cheek, his eyes filled with love and lust, and said, "There's no need for you to go to the hospital. You'll be fine soon."
To her disbelief, he began undressing her.
Even though she was still a virgin, she could now clearly understand what was going on.
She struggled to push him away and said, "No! You can't do this!"
Chris snapped at her, "Why can't I? We have been together for years! Do you know how long I've waited for this? We were going to get married! But then, you suddenly broke up with me. Why wouldn't you marry me? Why would you do this to me? How could you break my heart just like that?" The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. He tore apart her clothes forcefully.
The bed sheets were soaked with her tears as she whimpered, "Chris! How could you..."
All this while, Ivan had been watching them from a distance. Although he could tell that they were arguing, he didn't know what it was about. He saw them going out for a drink and thought that they had patched up. He was about to leave, but then he saw Chris sneakily putting something in her cup while she was in the bathroom. He had no choice but to follow them back to the hotel. Ivan was obviously concerned about her, so he bribed the hotel manager to give him a duplicate of their room's key. Chris' despicable actions had angered him. Ivan barged into the room. The hotel manager waited outside until Chris hit Ivan in the head, hurting him.
Ivan frowned and contemplated whether he had made a good choice or a bad one by interfering in their business.
Meanwhile, Flora sat on the bed in her bedroom, looking pitiful. Miya Wei pointed to the thermometer and said, "38.5 degrees Celsius. Just take some medicine and rest, you should be fine."
But then, when she was about to give her the medicine, she noticed something odd.
Flora usually preferred wearing lose fitting pajamas. Besides, she was burning with fever, so why was she wearing a turtle neck sweater? Miya Wei rushed to her side in the blink of an eye.
"Ah!" Flora was caught off guard by her sudden reaction. Moreover, she was at a disadvantage as Miya Wei was much taller than she was, so she couldn't even push her away.
"What are you doing?" she asked, crossing her arms over her chest, as though she were protecting herself. Miya Wei looked into her sweater and saw the hickeys on her neck. She was furious.
"Did you stay out all night yesterday because you were sleeping with him?" she asked, glaring at her coldly. "With Chris?
No! It wasn't him. This was not his doing. It was another man. Nothing happened between me and Chris!"
Flora said. She remembered another man coming in before Chris could have what he wanted. At first, she had not taken it seriously and thought that it must have been a dream. But she thought about it carefully, and she was certain that the other man had taken her virginity last night.
When Miya Wei heard that it wasn't Chris, she felt relieved and breathed a sigh. "I'm glad it wasn't that bastard, Chris. You were so naive, Flora. No wonder he was able to deceive you,"
she hissed, gritting her teeth. Flora smiled, "But Miya, I'm just as old as you are!"
"Only in years! You'd only had one boyfriend all these years. You should date at least a few guys," she said.
"Weren't you saying just the other day about how all men are all jerks? So why should I date at least a few guys?"
"But there are many men who are better than Chris!"
"You're just contradicting your own statements!" Flora protested.
"No! They're all jerks, but at least some of them are handsomer and richer than Chris," Miya Wei replied.
The moment she heard the word "handsome," Flora's mind went back to that man from last night. He was obviously much better-looking than Chris. In fact, he had the looks of a Greek god. However, she didn't know if he was rich.
"Mm hmm." After last night, Flora's opinions about Chris had completely changed. He was a vile and disgusting man. However, her agreement had made Miya Wei curious, so she asked, "Did something unpleasant happen to you last night?".
Of all those times in the past when Miya Wei had warned her about Chris, Flora had disregarded her words. What made her change her mind out of the blue?
'What happened last night was not only unpleasant, but also disgusting!' Flora thought to herself.
Although Miya Wei couldn't wait to know more about the night before, she gave her some pills and watched patiently as Flora swallowed them one by one. Then Flora told her what had happened the night before.
"Okay. I'm glad you slept with a handsome man, who wasn't Chris!" Miya Wei said happily.
"I think so too, so it's not a complete loss," Flora added with a grin.
