Obsession with my CEO

I look in the mirror to confirm I dressed well. Looking at the mirror, I saw an average face, medium size breasts, and a nicely shaped belly. I spread a pleasant smile on my face. I always felt difficult to smile. There is not much happiness in my life. But I always smile in front of the world around me. I don't want anyone's sympathy.

From in front of the mirror, then I go straight to my mother's photo. She is still young and gorgeous in that photo. My mother died in a car accident. I was were young. I have no memories of my mother. A photo of her is what I have.

A voice came from my back.

Lucy said with pride in her tone.

Elizabeth Gets up from the chair and goes straight to the kitchen. I looked at dad. He still sits in the chair in the same position. I got up from my chair. I came near to dad. Tears started rolling from his eyes.

"Leave it, dad. Everything will be okay," I said to dad.

He raised his head and looked at me. He tries to smile, but I know he can't. I took my bag from the table. And said goodbye to dad and Lucy and I come out of the home.

When I just leave my home, I see John watering his plants in the garden in his house. The smell of the flowers makes my mind calm. Suddenly I just remember what Elizabeth told me about the money a few moments ago. So I ignored John. I walked straight to the road. But before reaching the road, a voice came from my back.

"Ruby"

I see John when I turn back. He still watering the plants.

"I told Elizabeth about the money. It's urgent," John said.

"I didn't have this much amount right now. Give me two months. I will clear all of your debt."

It felt like I begging John.

He fell into depression; I stop him from going to work. And I promised him I will buy a shop for him one day. And he will become a shop owner again. I am looking at the full expense of my entire family. Including my step-sister's education and my f****** step-brother's debt. I look after my home without the help of anyone.

After a while, a car stopped in front of the shop opposite the bus stop where I was standing. A young man from the driver's seat opened the car door and got out. I looked back and saw our team leader, Samuel Hudson. He was standing among the people. A smile came to me from his stern face.

Samuel wished me.

After that, Samuel said nothing. I withdrew my eyes from his side. Samuel is a chapter in my life that I would like to forget.

I have been working in this company for almost a year. I came to work in this company called Qtech with many dreams. Samuel was one of the first people who I was friends with. Samuel was a very honorable person. He helped me a lot at the beginning of my work. He had a lot of love and care for me. I saw him as an elder brother. For a while, we were talking about work-related things. I felt Samuel was not interested in talking about office matters. So I stopped talking about office matters there. Samuel ordered food for both of us to eat. He ordered the food I like.

"Is this the first time you have been to this restaurant?" Samuel breaks the silence.

The elevator doors opened. I got out of the elevator. Then walked to my department. I was about to reach my desk when my friend Maria came to me.

"Isn't you early today?". Maria asked me.

My answer was a smile to her question. Samuel passed nearby.

"Good morning, sir," Maria wished Samuel.

"Good morning," Samuel wished Maria back.

Maria asked me when Samuel had left us.

"Is there a problem with you and Samuel, sir?".

"There is no problem between us".

I told no one that Samuel proposed to me and what happened after that.

"Didn't he scold you for a small thing yesterday?" That's why I asked. Maria said.

Maria was right. Yesterday he scolded me unnecessarily in front of others. He scolds me whenever he gets the chance. He hasn't crossed the line yet. I will respond when he crosses the red line. Anyway, he is just a poor disappointed lover.

"Did you know our new CEO will come to the office today?" Maria said excitedly.

Maria pointed to a young man in the group and said. I was shocked to see the guy who she pointed out. The same young man I saw with Jessica. He is our new CEO.

Eric Luther and his team came near Maria and me. Eric was not in the dress where I saw him in the morning. Instead of a t-shirt and shorts, his costume was a suit and pants. There is also a cooling glass on his face. Our manager is saying something to Eric. But Eric's face doesn't have any expression. His gaze came to me. With the cooling glass on, I couldn't be sure he was looking at me.

But that look didn't last long. Eric's eyes turned to my friend Maria, who was more beautiful than me. When I looked at her, she was staring right at Eric.

"Maria," the manager called Maria.

Eric stopped walking near us. And Eric's team as well.

"Sir, Maria is your assistant"

The manager told Eric. A smile spread across his face. He held out his hand to Maria. Maria looked at me in disbelief. Then she gave Eric her hand.

"Hello, Maria. I'm Eric"

Eric told Maria as he shook her hand.

"Good morning sir, I am Maria," said Maria.

"Nice name," Eric said.

Eric withdrew his hand from Maria's hand and walked forward. The manager motioned for Maria to join them. Maria walked behind them to CEO's office without even looking at me. After they left, I went to my desk.

I put my handbag on the table. My face appeared on the black screen of the computer sitting in front of me. I stared at my face on the blank computer screen.

"Am I not beautiful at all?" I asked myself. I know i was just an average girl.

I turned on the computer in front of me. After that, I opened my bag and took out the files inside it. I heard the sound while flipping through the files.

"Good Morning, Everyone"

I looked up and saw Eric and his group standing a short distance away from my desk. Our manager, Maria, and Samuel accompanied Eric. The employees were standing up. I also stood up immediately. Then we waited for our new CEO to say.

"I know you are busy. But I have a few things to tell you." Eric said to everyone. He then removed the cooling glass from his face. Those thin eyes attracted me a lot. While Eric was standing there, his body language was calling out who was the boss in the group. I looked at Maria. Her eyes were on Eric's face.

"From today, I am your new CEO. I am the son of Luther, who is the chairman of this company. I have never come into this company. To tell you the truth, I have never come across a situation where I have to interfere with the operation of this company. As you know, our company Qtech is one of the top IT companies in the US. After some time, the manager and others left. Eric and Maria went to Eric's cabin while talking. I pulled my eyes away from Eric and looked unfortunately straight at Samuel. He was staring at me in front of my desk.

"Ruby, was the work complete?" Samuel asked me.

"No sir. I will complete it today." I said.

"Ruby, stop staring at CEO and focus on work".

Samuel was scornful of me with words. Samuel left saying that I should complete the work before office hours. So, He has a reason to scold me today.

"Go to hell man," I wanted to say to him. But I didn't, because i didnt want to lose this job.

I heard a message from the smartphone inside my bag. I took out the phone from inside the bag. When I looked at the home screen of the phone, there was a message from Maria.

The new CEO started flirting with me.

"Is Eric flirting with Maria?" I said in my mind. Is Jessica just Eric's friend? Or is our new CEO a playboy? If Eric is a playboy, I must save Maria from him. I looked over to the side of Eric's cabin to see if Maria was coming out. The door is closed. There is no one in front of the cabin. I looked back at the computer screen in frustration. I continued my work.

After a while, I saw Samuel going to Eric's cabin. Jacob was also with him. They stopped in front of Eric's cabin and they were talking about something. Jacob is on our team. Jacob is a gentleman. We always talk about office matters. But nothing else. Jacob and Samuel are good friends. But even Jacob didn't know that Samuel had proposed to me. Maybe he knows or not. "Ruby, the CEO, has called our team to the office. Samuel wanted you to come with us." Jacob said.

I looked at Samuel, and he looked away from me when he saw me. I want to laugh. But I didn't laugh in front of Jacob. I quickly turned off my computer and put the files back in my bag. Then I got up from the chair and goes straight to Eric's cabin with Jacob and I came in front of the cabin. Then I saw Sophia was there, along with Samuel. I went to Sophia. After Maria, I am closest to Sophia in this office. She does not get close to people easily. She is a silent child, so no one is interested in talking to her. Sophia looks like a nerd kid studying in school. I like her very much. I try to talk to her every chance I get.

"Do you know why the CEO called us"?

I asked Sophia.

"Don't know exactly. Maybe our team has done the best projects in this company. That's why we were called." Sophia said.

The door to the cabin was opened. Maria said from inside, with the door half open.
