A planned car accident turned Sherri's life upside down. Jackson, the son of her foster father, thought that she was the one who had gotten his sister into that accident, and was determined to make her life a living hell. He mercilessly threw her onto the bed and scowled at the confusion in her eyes. The desire for revenge gradually left him. Falling into his tenderness, Sherri lost her heart to him, but the secret he was hiding finally broke her down. She gave up and tried to run away from him, but he would never let her go.

Chapter 1 A Car Accident

It was the beginning of summer in L City. The shrilling of cicadas grated on people's ears.

Somewhere, a Porsche sports car drove down from an overpass. However, a truck suddenly appeared in front of the car. The driver of the Porsche swerved to avoid the collision, but it hit the protective railing on the side instead. With a loud crash, the car billowed out white smoke.

It was a chaotic and hectic scene. The accident prompted the ambulance and medics to show up.

"Miss, can you hear me?"

A nurse looked anxiously at the woman on the stretcher. The woman's white dress was blood-stained due to the crash. The nurse was used to seeing all sorts of patients, but she still felt sorry for the fashionable young lady.

"Ouch. It hurts... My legs..."

The young woman's eyes were misty. She was dizzy and confused. Eventually, the strong smell of disinfectant woke her senses up.

The car accident, which had just transpired, made her suffer a lot. The immense pain that she felt was reflected in her eyes. When a doctor came in to check on her, she struggled and screamed, "My legs! Why can't I move my legs?! I don't want to stay here. I want to go home."

The outburst alarmed the doctor, so he called a nurse to help him. The two of them worked together to keep the woman on the bed and they injected her with a tranquilizer to ease her violent behavior.

The nurse carefully walked up to the bedside. She looked at the young woman who now had messy hair and clouded eyes. "Miss, you're in the hospital. You had a car accident, and your legs were seriously injured."

"Fuck off! Get out!"

Meanwhile on the national highway, a Bugatti Veyron car zoomed through the city. The driver, Jackson Murong, wore a high-end customized Armani suit. He took off his Bluetooth device and frowned. In the next minute, his face turned cold and a cruel smile slowly appeared. He stepped on the accelerator and sped up, leaving traces of smoke and tire scratches behind.

In L City, there was a famous and affluent community called the Downtown Garden. It was filled with all kinds of amusement facilities along with grand and luxurious villas. The place was simply astounding. Every villa was surrounded by huge lawns that made passers-by stare in awe. They couldn't help but praise the lavish area.

Right in the center of the Downtown Garden, there was a duplex villa that exuded a European charm and influence. On that day, the sound of a weeding machine emitted from its huge garden lawn. A beautiful and petite woman inside the villa stared out the window, seemingly lost in thought.

Suddenly, the phone in her pocket rang. Seeing the caller ID, a sweet smile appeared on her face. She answered the phone excitedly. "Allen, have you been busy recently? Me? I'm fine."

Her life in the Murong family had not exactly been smooth sailing, but they were the ones who adopted her. This kindness had been like a debt that she had to repay. It was a big family, but she handled most of the housework by herself. Her musing was once again interrupted. This time, it was the sound of tires that broke the rare peace.

Jackson Murong got out of the Bugatti Veyron angrily. His livid face showed fury and discontent. With a loud and harsh sound, he slammed the car door shut.

"Sherri Bai!"

Jackson Murong grabbed her wrist, his eyes burned with rage.

She didn't know what he was angry about. She stared at him blankly, struggling to get rid of his big hand. "What's wrong with you? I didn't do anything to you."

"I just came back from the hospital. Did you know that Bella's seriously injured? She's lying in the hospital right now. Tell me! Did you do it?" With an intense look of accusation, he dragged her into the villa.

"Let me go! Let me go!"

She felt terrible about what he was saying. Bella Murong was completely fine when she went out this morning. How could she be in a car accident? Her heart was in turmoil, so she kept shaking her head in denial. Seeing the man's unusual behavior, chills went through her whole body. Did he think she did it?

Jackson Murong dragged Sherri Bai to the living room on the first floor. Fueled with anger, he mercilessly grabbed her neck. Her fair skin made him pity her briefly, but he was still mad. "Who do you think you are? You're just a servant in the Murong family. Why do you treat my sister badly? Why do you treat her like a thorn in your flesh? You treated her so badly when I was not home, and yet I let you go. Now you even got her in a car accident. Sherri, you deserve to die!"

She looked at him in horror and shook her head continuously. "No, I didn't. The car accident has nothing to do with me. You wronged me!"

"I wronged you? Bella is my sister. She's so obedient. Why are you so cruel to her? Did the butler lie too? Are you saying that they planned to frame you?"

Jackson Murong was stubborn in his argument. The anger made him go out of his mind. Sherri Bai didn't expect Bella Murong to set her up. But why did the butler frame her too? He was close to Bella and had watched her grow up, so it made sense that Jackson Murong believed the butler's words.

"Do you really believe that I did it?" she asked.

"Who else would it be if it wasn't you?! Sherri, you're such a wicked woman. You won't admit it, will you? I will make you admit it." In a sudden turn, Jackson Murong became eerily calm. He continued coldly, "Do you want Allen Zheng to suffer for your fault?"

She looked at him in astonishment and shook her head. "Jackson, what do you want?"

"What do I want? How about I give Allen double the pain that you've inflicted on Bella? What do you think?" Jackson Murong sneered in response.

Sherri Bai, who was preoccupied, stared at him with fear. Her wrist was ruthlessly grabbed by him once again. Disregarding her feeble body, he strengthened his hold. The tremendous force made her feel the familiar pain. Jackson Murong whispered in a cold voice, "Sherri, you have a face that can bewitch men, but you are more vicious than anyone else."

"No, I did do it. Jackson, you can't wrong me."

He then glared at her fiercely and harshly shook off her wrist. "Since you don't want to admit it, just wait until you have to bury Allen's body."

After saying that, he turned around to leave.

Sherri Bai fell to the floor and grabbed his sleeve tightly. "You can wrong me all you want, but you can't bring Allen into this. Jackson, if you dared to hurt Allen, I will make you regret it!"

An evil smile appeared on the corner of his mouth. Disgust was evident in his eyes. He jested, "Sherri, you're just a wild child adopted by the Murong family. How dare you bargain with me?!"

"Jackson, you can't wrong a good man. Allen has a bright future. You can't do that to him." She was beyond frightened. No matter how bad he treated her, she could endure it. It didn't even matter if he misunderstood her. But Allen Zheng was different. He shouldn't have to suffer.

Jackson's gloomy eyes became more hostile. He squatted down to grab her hair. "Allen also likes your face, right? Sherri, you're a slut. The more you defend Allen, the more I hate you two!"

Hearing his words, Sherri Bai became desperate. She struggled to stand up and stared at the cold and ruthless Jackson Murong. The tenderness and patience in her heart had long disappeared. With jumbled emotions, she said, "Yes, I did it. I don't like Bella, so I wanted to teach her a lesson. Are you satisfied with that answer?"

"You finally admitted. Very good!"

Sherri Bai stared at him with red eyes. Grief and sadness overflowed in her heart. If he needed a scapegoat, she would sacrifice herself instead of Allen Zheng.

The last trace of pity in Jackson's heart vanished after hearing her confession. He was on the verge of exploding in hatred. At this moment, all he wanted to do was vent the displeasure in his heart.

"Can you promise not to make things difficult for Allen?" She carefully looked at the man's eyes, her body trembling.

Her plea was all for Allen's sake, which made Jackson Murong feel very conflicted. He glowered at her with red eyes. How much power was hidden in her thin body? He really wanted to know what she was thinking. He was burdened with complex feelings as he carried her on his shoulder and went straight to the second floor.

"Jackson, let go of me. Put me down!"

Sherri Bai felt an imminent threat as he went upstairs step by step. She preferred the angry and screaming Jackson than this creepily silent one.

She came to the Murong family at the age of eight. She didn't know much about Jackson Murong, but she knew that he was cold and cruel. All this time, she had kept her distance from him. She had endured his cold attitude all this time. She had no idea what he was planning to do now.

Jackson Murong carried her into his big bedroom. A room that showed his seriousness with the gray styling. He threw her onto the bed mercilessly and scowled at her confused eyes. The desire for revenge gradually engulfed him.

"Isn't this your room? Why did you bring me here?" Sherri Bai was confused as she tried to decipher him. A shadow of fear slowly covered her heart.

His fingers roughly caressed her cheek. He looked down at Sheri with conflicting emotions. He could feel her body slightly trembling. Sherri Bai felt his fingers caress her skin, which left a cool feeling.

A strange desire flowed out of her body. Jackson Murong stared at her impatiently.

She couldn't look into his eyes. His body emitted a threatening aura and a suffocating smell. She couldn't see through the real him at this moment. She struggled with all her might, but she was no match for the man. Soon, her hands and legs were suppressed by him.

"No... You can't do this..."

Panic could be seen in her big watery eyes. He smiled wickedly. If he could see her fear and panic in that moment, it would mean that he had won. The more panicked she looked, the happier he was.

Looking at her stubborn eyes and unwillingness to admit defeat, he became very angry. Pinning all his strength on her body, he leaned over her earlobe and whispered evilly, "I always get what I want. You deserve this."

Chapter 2 She Is Desperate

Sherri's eyes were filled with despair. In a flurry, she lashed out her fingernails and left bloody red marks on the man's neck. Her eyes were full of resentment. She wasn't going down without a fight, so she opened her mouth and bit his shoulder hard.

"Ah! How dare you bite me?!" Jackson slapped her in retaliation.

The sting made her head spin and she eventually fainted. The early summer wind kept pounding the windows beside them. For the whole night, Sherri only felt pain. Her fingers had become pale and weak from clinging to the white sheet all night. She refused to let go of them.

The next morning, warm sunlight enveloped the two people under the fluffy quilt. Sherri's shoulders were half exposed and the tears on her face had already dried up. The man sleeping beside her was restless. He turned over and frowned when he noticed something was wrong. Suddenly, he opened his eyes, wide and clear.

He remembered what happened last night. Sherri looked very calm at a glance, but a closer look revealed her stiff shoulders indicating her inner defiance. Jackson squinted his eyes with an unspoken melancholy in his heart. Indeed, he had lost control last night. Hearing Sherri shout Allen's name while struggling to reject Jackson made his heart go numb and cold.

He tortured her. He wanted her to beg for mercy. However, she was Sherri. She wasn't like anyone else. She was strong-willed in everything, even if she was just a maid. Her self-esteem was so high that she would rather be hurt than give in to him. Compromise was not something that she was inclined to do.

After the recollection, he reached out to touch her face. As soon as his skin made contact with hers, though, he withdrew his hand and changed it into a fist. He then pushed her hard. "Sherri, get up!"

The woman jolted and opened her eyes in a daze. Their closeness somewhat enlarged his face and she looked at him in confusion. His cold and almost ruthless eyes sent shivers down her spine.

Seeing her confused eyes, Jackson impatiently pushed her out of the bed and said, "I'm not Allen. Sherri, look carefully. I'm Jackson. You can't escape me."

Sherri fell on the hard floor. The sudden pain brought her back to her senses in an instant. She held the quilt tightly. She was stunned by how the quilt intimately hugged her body and realized that what happened wasn't some bad dream. It was real. She then felt something wrong, her body ached.

A pale red stain on the bed sheet attracted Jackson's attention. His anger was lessened by this. He didn't expect that Sherri and Allen hadn't made love yet. However, this revelation wasn't enough to completely calm him down. Remembering his sister, who was seriously injured and was lying unconscious in the hospital bed, he was fuming again.

"Sherri, you're as dirty as the bed sheet. You make me sick. Wash it clean!" His cold demeanor was back. He put on his shirt and ignored the startled eyes that bore on his back. He kept on putting his clothes with his back turned to her.

Looking at the dirty and messy bed sheet, Sherri felt ashamed. A night of betraying her pride had turned her life completely upside down. She couldn't tell what she felt. Was it all for Allen's sake? Or did she betray herself so that Jackson wouldn't hurt the people around her? She kept getting flashbacks of last night's events. Her earlier pain was now accompanied by nausea, but she forced herself to endure it.

She told herself that she wouldn't cry in front of Jackson. If she cried in front of him, it would prove that she was too fragile. She couldn't let him win.

Sherri didn't move behind him at all. Feeling strange, Jackson turned around. He happened to meet her gaze. Her eyes that twinkled like crystals with unshed tears instantly caught his eyes.

"Do you really think you have a position in the Murong family? You're just a plaything for me and my sister. A plaything that we use whenever we want. Something that we can throw away if we want to. Sherri, you're just a living puppet. Don't think that your position will change after what happened last night. Let me tell you, you're just a servant in my eyes. Sometimes, you're even lower than that."

Jackson's words hit her hard. She covered herself with the quilt, turned her back on him and took a deep breath. Her heart couldn't help but break at his words. She closed her eyes and clenched her fists. In a low voice, she said, "You go out first."

"Humph! Do you think I want to see your ugly face? I'd feel sick if I take even just one more look at you." Jackson glanced at her and left with indignation.

As the bedroom door closed, Sherri dropped her last defense and left herself exposed. She glanced at the scattered clothes in despair. When she closed her eyes, she recalled what had happened last night. No matter how hard she had begged for mercy, Jackson didn't let go of her. He harshly trampled on her last shred of self-esteem and dignity.

"Allen... how can I face you after this?"

She put on her clothes mechanically. She felt like a living dead, just going through the tasks she needed to do. She walked into the bathroom, her weak body holding the bed sheet. Even though it has dried up already, seeing the obtrusive red stain made her want to wash it off quickly. She wanted to erase that reminder as soon as possible. She kept rubbing and rubbing until her own hands turned red. Peeking at the sun outside the window, she felt like she was in a trance. Jackson was right. She really had no position in the Murong family.

Jackson was in a bad mood. He turned the TV on and switched the channel to the news station even though he didn't really want to watch it. Lee, the butler, came after a while and politely put a cup of coffee on the tea table. "Sir, here's your coffee."

"What are they doing?" Jackson took a sip of his coffee. His expression still conveying annoyance.

Lee had worked for the Murong family for nearly twenty years, so he knew Jackson well. He slowly explained, "Tina has prepared the breakfast, and the others are ready to clean every corner of the villa. What else can I do for you, sir?"

"Cleaning? Find something for Sherri to do. I don't like people who do not contribute anything while living in the Murong family," Jackson said indifferently. A hint of coldness clouding his eyes.

Lee understood what he meant. He nodded and said, "I understand what you mean. Please rest assured that I will find a task for her."

"It's good that you understand. I want to have breakfast now." Jackson stood up.

"I'll ask Tina to bring it right away." Lee left.

Jackson looked up at the closed door of the room on the second floor. He realized that she was still washing the sheet. He sneered wickedly. Even if he took away her virginity, her reluctance in the act made him uncomfortable. In any case, the trust between her and Allen was broken. At least he was able to teach her a lesson.

After minutes of intense rubbing, Sherri finally removed the trace of blood in the sheet. She looked at her red and raw hands. Her heart was beating so fast and it seemed like she didn't have any reason to calm down at this moment. As much as she was sad to be humiliated by Jackson, she didn't have plans on yielding to him. She would never back down to him. Everything that was happening to her wasn't a big deal. She would get through this.

She walked out of Jackson's bedroom. She took a deep breath before squeezing out a smile on her lips and clenching her fist. She muttered to herself, "Sherri, you can do it. It's okay. You have to hold on."

She saw Lee coming over just as she descended downstairs.

"Sherri, we are having a house cleaning today. We are short of people, so you should go and help them," Lee said. His eyes were full of contempt for the woman.

"Oh, shall I go now?" Sherri touched her stomach. She hadn't eaten anything since last night and she was feeling the effect now.

Lee nodded, his hands behind his back. "Go now, everyone is busy cleaning. You're free, right?"

She had no choice but to follow the orders with her head down. She went to the storage room where all cleaning tools were located. Just as she was about to enter, she heard voices talking inside.

"I heard that Mr. Murong came back furious yesterday. Did Sherri offend him again?"

"Who else could it be except for her? She really thinks of herself as a lady of the family. Shame on her!"

"That's right. Miss Murong is the true lady. Sherri's just adopted by the Murong family, but she really thinks of herself highly."

"She has a seductive face. That's her leverage."

Sherri, who was standing by the door, heard everything clearly. She knew the people who were talking inside. She decided to knock on the door to let her presence be known. "Lee asked me to clean the villa with you."

The two panicked at the fact that they had been heard. Sherri stared at them from head to toe. The woman in the blue coat, with a mole at the corner of her mouth, was about 30 years old. Her name was Julie. The younger one was called Carol. The two of them had been working in the Murong family for about four or five years, and they were quite efficient in their tasks.

The both looked at each other before Carol decided to break the silence. "Sherri, don't make Mr. Murong angry again. Whenever he gets angry, he puts our life in misery."

"Don't think that you can seduce him just because you're pretty. As a woman, we should behave ourselves," Julie reprimanded her with a duster cloth in her hand.

Sherri felt suffocated. She didn't want to argue with them, so she went in the storage room to get the basin and the broom, bearing her hunger.

Julie and Carol looked at each other and smiled conspiratorially.

Sherri opted to stay quiet. She just silently followed them to clean the attic. None of them spoke for the duration of the walk.

"Ouch, my leg is cramping!" Carol suddenly shouted.

"What's wrong, Carol?" Julie exclaimed.

Sherri had no idea what the commotion was about. She stopped working and curiously stared at Carol's cramped leg. She asked with concern, "Do you want to take a rest?"

Carol glimpsed at Julie and they nodded. "Yes, I do. Please clean the attic by yourself then. Julie, help me go down. My leg is numb."

"Okay, take care."

Looking at the large attic and the thick dust covering every inch of it, Sherri heavily sighed. It was really stressful to clean alone. She had to continuously wring out the rag and wipe the attic silently.

Chapter 3 The Tibetan Mastiff

When Sherri recalled Lee's tone and expression, her eyes dimmed. She knew that Jackson wouldn't let her go easily. She also knew that he would definitely find more ways to torture her. She was ready for anything that he would throw her way. She already expected a prolonged struggle.

Jackson didn't see Sherri around the house after breakfast. He attributed it to her being busy with housework. Lee was standing beside him when Jackson ordered, "Go and see if Sherri is still working."

"Sure. I'll look for her now." The butler left the dining room without any more questions.

Just in time, Julie and Carol had just finished their breakfast. They were about to go back upstairs when they unexpectedly ran into the butler. They glanced at each other before smiling.

"Well, isn't Sherri with you?" Lee asked arrogantly.

Julie and Carol stared at each other in silence. Finally, Carol answered him, "We just finished cleaning a part of the attic. We haven't seen her anywhere."

Lee hummed and promptly went upstairs. Julie was afraid that he would see through their lie. She pulled Carol close and whispered, "Why did you say that we haven't seen her? Isn't she in the attic?"

"Don't be silly. If I told him that she was there, Lee would figure out that we were lazing around."

"You're right. I really don't know what will happen if Lee gets angry."

Sherri wiped the sweat off her forehead with the back of her hand. Surveying the newly cleaned attic, she felt accomplished. She was used to doing a lot of housework, so she didn't feel tired at all. Despite that, she still felt her growing hunger. In fact, her stomach hadn't stopped growling since earlier.

"Sherri, how long have you been wandering in the attic?" Lee walked up slowly and saw her in a daze. A duster cloth and a basin of dirty water were left at her feet.

Sherri was surprised at his words. She explained, "Lee, I've been cleaning the attic all this time."

At this moment, Jackson also went straight to the attic. When he saw Sherri's face covered with dust, he narrowed his eyes into a seam. He looked around. His voice hinted distrust when he asked, "Are you sure you weren't slacking off?"

Hearing Jackson's voice, Lee took two steps back and fell into silence.

Sherri pointed at the floor and the walls. "Can't you see? I cleaned all of this."

"Really? Do you mean to say that all of the Murong family's servants are paid even without working?" Jackson asked coldly.

Lee looked at Sherri and kept shaking his head. It was unbelievable how she always offended Jackson and annoyed him almost every single day. It was a usual occurrence for Jackson to show his dislike towards her. Lee belittled her more in his mind as Jackson continued the scolding.

Sherri was about to retort when her stomach started to growl again.

Jackson obscurely winked at Lee and whispered something in his ear.

Sherri then followed Lee and they left Jackson's line of sight. The butler took her to the kitchen. After looking for a long time, he couldn't find any food for her breakfast. It wasn't easy but he ultimately found a long piece of bread under the hood. Seeing the moldy spots on the bread, Lee sneered, "That's all I can give."

"Thank you, Lee," Sherri said, smiling with gratitude.

Lee strode out of the kitchen with a big grin on his face.

Hearing Lee's report, Jackson was satisfied with their scheme. "I'll go see if she will eat it."

"Hmm? This bread is from last month?"

As Sherri opened the bread's plastic bag, she unexpectedly saw the manufacturing date along with the molds. She felt wronged. She bit her lower lip and tightly gripped the bread in her hand. Anger slowly rose up in her chest.

The bread smelled strange but her stomach was still rumbling with hunger. Hesitantly, she tore a small piece and chewed it. There was still a faint sweet taste to the bread, but it was difficult to swallow.

Sanding at the kitchen door, Jackson saw what transpired and he smiled cruelly. He didn't expect that there would be times when she would have to give in.

"Sherri, is the moldy bread delicious?"

Sherri was stunned. She looked at Jackson blankly, who appeared as if he was watching a good show. Lee stood beside him, with a calm expression on his face. It suddenly dawned on her that they deliberately planned this.

'Sherri, it's okay. It's just a small blow. It's not a big deal.' She comforted herself. The most important thing right now was to fill her stomach. She needed to satiate her hunger first and foremost. It was not like bad food could kill people.

Glaring at Jackson, she purposefully took a big bite of the bread and chewed it.

Seeing that she still didn't break down at the scheme, the man's heart started to get filled with unspeakable rage. He glanced at Lee, huffed, and left discontentedly.

Jackson held his Tibetan mastiff by the leash and walked around the yard. He squatted down and patted its head. The dog stuck out its tongue, saliva dripping from its mouth. A wicked smile appeared on Jackson's face upon seeing that. A great idea came to his mind. It was like a light bulb lit up above his head. He shouted, "Lee, come here!"

Lee sprinted out of the living room and politely responded, "Sir, what's wrong?"

"See the Tibetan mastiff?"

"Yes."

Jackson beckoned to Lee to come closer and whispered a few words in his ears. Lee's eyes immediately brightened in surprise. He kept nodding and said, "I'll keep that in mind."

"Her punishments have just begun." Jackson's eyes looked unpredictable. Images of Sherri's stubborn face plagued his mind, making it more difficult for him to calm down.

Inside the villa, Carol and Julie had just finished cleaning the second floor with the exception of the hall on the first floor. When they saw Jackson coming in with his Tibetan mastiff, their faces turned pale with fear. They bowed submissively, "Mr. Murong."

Jackson, who was holding the Tibetan mastiff, asked, "Are you afraid of it?"

Carol and Julie nodded. Their pale faces clearly portraying terror that they felt.

"Good," Jackson said casually, raising his chin. This time, he must let her know what fear was. She pretended not to care about everything, except for her beloved. He was determined to change that.

He stared at the Tibetan mastiff with fierce and calculating eyes.

After all the work and encounters today, Sherri's body felt weak and sore. Her legs and arms were particularly worn out. She was about to sit on a chair when her stomach rumbled. Immediately, she ran to the bathroom for precaution. Her face was scrunched up in pain with beads of sweat falling down her cheeks. When she went out of the bathroom, her sickly state made her lean weakly against the corner of the wall. She spent a few minutes there, holder her knees in a daze.

This was all Jackson's fault. If it weren't for him, she wouldn't have ended up like this. Her heart sank with that fact. She took out the phone she bought a few years ago and looked at every message saved in it. Her heart felt alive whenever she read those messages. Thoughts of Allen always soothed her frustration and sadness. At least there was someone who cared about her in this wretched world, albeit silently.

The early summer dusk was accompanied by clouds which seemed like they were on fire. It presented a perfect scenery in the sky as Jackson glanced upwards. He heard familiar light footsteps coming towards him. He already knew who it was even without looking back.

"Lee said you want to see me."

Sherri had been hiding from him for the whole day, but she still had to face him at some point. He was the real master of the Murong family. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't avoid it if the master summoned her. She lowered her head and entangled her fingers. She really wanted to get out of his sight as soon as possible. She wanted nothing more than to leave his presence.

"You're not afraid of me, right? What? Are you starting to be afraid now?" Jackson said nonchalantly. He inadvertently turned around and glanced at her. In just one look, he clearly saw the woman's embarrassed state.

"You're the master of the family. Is there anything that you need me to do?"

Sherri tried her best to straighten her posture. Her unassuming attitude made Jackson's originally calm heart uneasy. He scrutinized the woman's weak body with his sharp eyes and said, "It seems that you need some stimulation."

"What do you want me to do?"

"It's still early. You'll know it soon enough."

Seeing Jackson's pensive frown, Sherri felt like she knew what was going to happen. That look only meant one thing. The man in front of her had thought of another way to torture her. Her anxiety skyrocketed at that realization.

Since Jackson and Sherri were talking, Lee deliberately coughed and knocked on the door. He shouted, "Mr. Murong."

"What is it?"

Jackson turned around and listened to what Lee was about to say.

"Tina told me to ask what you would like to have for dinner."

Sherri walked out of the room. The topic did not concern her so she wasn't interested to listen and stay. As she was walking to the door, though, she was stunned to hear Jackson's words.

"Sherri failed to complete the cleaning task today, so she's forbidden to have dinner." Jackson raised his voice on purpose, afraid that she wouldn't hear him clearly.

Clenching her fingers into fists, Sherri bit her lower lip. She had cleaned the attic and the guest room alone. She cleanly wiped them by herself from start to finish. He was lying. She suddenly turned around to look at Jackson, meeting his rude and cold eyes. She couldn't help but stare back, as if she was unwilling to admit defeat.

Jackson didn't expect that she would keep on being stubborn. She still refused to yield despite his many tactics. He stared back at her coldly.

Catching sight of Jackson's darkening face, Lee knew that he was about to lose his temper. He hurriedly pushed Sherri out and said, "Since you're free, why don't you go to the kitchen and help Tina?"

Sherri had been busy doing housework all day long. Regardless, she still wasn't allowed to have dinner just because of Jackson's order. Tina smiled uncannily when she noticed Sherri staring pitifully at the leftovers. She wiped off the water droplets on her hands and took out the leftovers. "These are spoiled. Do you want to eat them?"

"Tina, even cats and dogs don't eat spoiled leftovers. How can you even ask if I want to eat those?" Sherri looked at her indignantly.

Tina looked at her and put the leftovers on the chopping board. "Sherri, don't forget that there's only one master and one lady in the Murong family. Look at yourself in the mirror. You're just a poor servant. I've been working in the Murong family for a long time, and I'm your senior. You should at least respect me."

Sherri remained silent and left the kitchen. She ignored Tina's words and trotted to the living room. Surprisingly, she was stopped by the Tibetan mastiff running towards her.

"The show is about to begin. Sherri, let's wait and see." Jackson pulled the leash arrogantly. He squatted down and touched the Tibetan mastiff's head. The smile at the corners of his mouth gradually became colder and more sinister.

Sherri took a few steps back. Fear was evident in her trembling voice and slowly retreating figure. "Jackson, what...what are you going to do?"
