No More Foolish Love: Her Empire, Her Rules

Author: : Fumo Baobao
Genre: Romance
It was the day my grandfather would announce the man I'd choose to lead Reddington Global, our corporate empire. My "Keystone"-the family's immense capital and crucial knowledge-was meant to ensure his success. In my first life, I poured everything into Jamie Vance, my childhood sweetheart, making him CEO. But his cruel sneer still echoes: "If it weren't for needing your Keystone to help Candace build her own empire, I would never have pretended to care for you!" He paraded his true love, Candace Dubois, using all the power I gave him to elevate her. He shredded my reputation, seized every asset for Candace, then left me with nothing. "This CEO position," he'd spat, "even without you, I could have eventually grasped!" It wasn't just betrayal; it was annihilation. I died utterly broken, wondering how I could have been so blind, so foolish, to hand over my very essence to a monster. But then, I woke up. I was back. The same day, the same announcement, but this time, things would be different. Jamie Vance would not ruin me again. I'm ready to rewrite my destiny.

Introduction

It was the day my grandfather would announce the man I'd choose to lead Reddington Global, our corporate empire. My "Keystone"-the family's immense capital and crucial knowledge-was meant to ensure his success.

In my first life, I poured everything into Jamie Vance, my childhood sweetheart, making him CEO. But his cruel sneer still echoes: "If it weren't for needing your Keystone to help Candace build her own empire, I would never have pretended to care for you!"

He paraded his true love, Candace Dubois, using all the power I gave him to elevate her. He shredded my reputation, seized every asset for Candace, then left me with nothing. "This CEO position," he'd spat, "even without you, I could have eventually grasped!"

It wasn't just betrayal; it was annihilation.

Chapter 1

The familiar scent of lemon polish and old money hit me first.

My eyes snapped open.

I wasn't in that cold, sterile room anymore.

I was in my suite at the Reddington estate, sunlight streaming through the sheer curtains.

The date on my phone confirmed it.

Today.

The day Grandfather would announce the selection for my future husband, the next CEO of Reddington Global.

I was back.

My breath hitched.

The last thing I remembered was Jamie's face, twisted in a sneer.

"If it weren't for needing your Keystone to help Candace build her own empire, I would never have pretended to care for you!"

His words echoed, cold and sharp.

In my first life, I chose Jamie Vance, my childhood sweetheart.

I poured everything into him.

My "Keystone" – the critical knowledge, the family's private capital, the Reddington Endorsement Heirloom, a signet ring passed down for generations.

All of it, to ensure his victory in the "Successor's Gauntlet," the brutal series of business trials.

He won. He became CEO.

Then he destroyed me.

He paraded Candace Dubois, a social climber with a fake past, as his true love.

He used the power I gave him, the power of the Keystone, to elevate her.

My reputation was shredded. My personal assets, seized for Candace.

"This CEO position, even without you, I could have eventually grasped!" he'd spat, as they left me with nothing.

Betrayal didn't cover it.

It was annihilation.

But now... now I was back.

A shiver ran down my spine, not of fear, but of cold, hard resolve.

This time, things would be different.

The Keystone wasn't just a prize to be handed over.

It needed my willing, active participation.

A lesson learned in the cruelest way.

I got out of bed, my legs steady.

No more naivety. No more blind trust.

Jamie Vance would not ruin me again.

Chapter 2

Downstairs, the grand hall buzzed with New England's elite.

Whispers and polite laughter filled the air.

My grandfather, Charles Reddington, stood by the fireplace, ready to make his announcement.

His gaze, usually warm, held a flicker of something I recognized from my past life – the weight of the Reddington legacy.

He cleared his throat, the room falling silent.

"As you all know, the Founder's Mandate guides our family's future. Today, my granddaughter, Seraphina, will choose her intended, who will then face the Successor's Gauntlet."

He paused, a slight smile playing on his lips. "The man she chooses, with her Keystone, will lead Reddington Global into its next era."

Just as he was about to continue, a voice cut through the silence.

"Before you proceed, Mr. Reddington, and Sera, my love."

Jamie Vance.

He strode forward, a confident smirk plastered on his face.

My blood ran cold.

That smirk. I knew it too well.

He was reborn too.

"I must declare," Jamie announced, his voice ringing with false sincerity, "my undying love for another. For Candace Dubois."

Gasps rippled through the crowd. Candace, standing near the entrance, preened under the sudden attention.

Jamie continued, his eyes locking onto mine. "However, Seraphina, if you still insist on our union, I will honor our families' understanding. On one condition."

He let the suspense hang.

"Candace must be made my co-CEO. Or, at the very least, be given an equivalent, powerful position within Reddington Global."

The audacity.

The sheer, unadulterated arrogance.

He thought I was the same naive girl. He thought he had me.

My grandfather's face turned thunderous. "Mr. Vance, this is highly inappropriate!"

Jamie just shrugged, his smirk widening at me. "Sera knows my heart. I'm sure she'll make the right choice. Again."

He was banking on my past affection, on my family's desire to avoid scandal.

But he didn't know.

He didn't know the Sera standing before him was forged in the fires of his betrayal.

He didn't understand the true nature of the Keystone.

It wasn't a magic wand he could wield. It was a part of me.

And this time, I knew exactly what to do with it.

My grandfather looked at me, concern etching his features.

I gave him a small, reassuring nod. My mind was clear.
