No Escape: Her Ex-boyfriend's Love Trap

Author: : Lanny Coccia
Genre: Romance
Years ago, Isabella eloped with her secret lover after getting pregnant. Not only did this ruin her reputation, but it also made her then-boyfriend, Claud, the city's laughingstock. Five years passed. Claud was declared the powerful successor of his family's company, the GL Group. The day he returned was the beginning of Isabella's woes. Claud was indifferent and ruthless, while Isabella was stubborn and fickle. The two continued to torment each other. Things went on like this until something dire happened: somebody had kidnapped Isabella! She was locked in a dilapidated boat for three days and nights while the kidnapper demanded an outrageous ransom. But nobody came to save her. She was on the verge of losing all hope when a man covered in blood showed up. He stretched his hand to the dying Isabella and whispered, "Don't you get it? You can't live without me."

Chapter 1 You Can't Keep This Baby

In Okmore.

Layers of grey and fluffy clouds decorated the eastern sky. Soon after, it began to rain heavily.

Squalls were slamming fiercely against the windows. Stepping onto the three pregnancy test reports scattered across the floor, the man in the room said, "Tell me! Who is the baby's father?" His expression was terrifying.

The girl shook her head. She really didn't know!

Claud Lambert was furious. "Isabella McCoy, we've been together for so long. How did I treat you?"

How did he treat her?

Tears streamed down the corners of Isabella's eyes. All this while, Claud had showered her with passionate love and affection. He was always good to her.

Besides, he cherished and respected her. They never ever had sex despite being with each other for so long. He wanted to wait until she was ready.

"Why aren't you saying anything? I thought you're always expressive? Are you feeling guilty?"

"No!"

Isabella's breaths were turning heavy. She extended her hands and pinched his arm, trying to free herself from his grip.

Staring at the color draining from her face, Claud didn't have the heart to kill his beloved woman after all. The moment he let go of her, Isabella slumped to the floor and started to cough violently.

Claud unbuttoned his shirt and asked again, "When did you hook up with that man?"

When Isabella was back to her senses, she yelled at him in despair, "I've never betrayed you. Not even once! I have no idea why I'm pregnant! Isn't the Lambert family powerful? Go ahead and investigate! Prove to everyone that your girlfriend is innocent."

Isabella was pregnant, but she insisted saying she didn't know how she got herself into that state. It was too ridiculous. No one would believe it, not even herself, let alone Claud.

"You're saying this because you know I'm never going to find out the truth, aren't you?"

When Claud heard about the news back then, he had sent his people to dig into it. Yet, he found nothing. There was nothing about her checking into hotel rooms and sleeping with other men. There wasn't even any suspicious men around her.

However, her being pregnant was the truth. Two of the three pregnancy tests were done in Claud's presence. He watched from the doctor drew her blood and everything else, to the reports were printed out. There was no way the reports could be fabricated.

Staring at him, Isabella felt her heart had been shattered. "Claud, are you not willing to even trust me?"

Drops of tears coursed down the chin of the girl, who had just turned 19. A sharp pang of disappointment streaked across her flawless face, but she wasn't giving in.

Claud was frustrated. Turning around, he kicked the chair that was near to him. It flung off and smashed against the wall, breaking into pieces.

Isabella was startled. Shudders ran down her spine. It was the first time for her to see him like this.

After a while, he turned and flashed her a sharp glare laced with killing intent. "Isabella, you better pray hard I never find that man. If there is a day where I find out who he is..." Claud didn't continue with the rest of his sentence, but his wrath had made it clear.

After recomposing himself, his rage faded away. He bent and gently carried the girl from the floor, just like how it was when they were in their love bubble.

Isabelle wasn't accepting the sudden change in his behavior. Such a kind of person wasn't giving her any sense of security. "Let go of me!"

"No, Bella. You took the initiative to approach me. You have no right to push me away."

Indeed, she was well aware of it. Hence, she couldn't defy but allow him to put her on the sofa.

Crouching before her, Claud gazed at her deeply. "You can't keep this child."

She let out a soft gasp. However, she didn't say anything.

"Stay with me..."

When she was touched by his words, he added, "I have to hide you from the world."

He would definitely find that man through her. At that time, no one could protect him, not even Isabella.

Isabella's smile froze on her face.

She couldn't believe what she heard. She was the daughter of Averie McCoy, the mayor of Okmore! She was also Claud's official girlfriend. And now, he was going to hide her like he was ashamed of her?

"No way!" she said.

Upon hearing her rejection, Claud didn't reveal any of his emotions. He gently wiped the tears on her face. "Bella, don't push me."

"Keeping me by your side is just your way of taking revenge on me, right?"

Of course, she knew he was never a kind person. Isabella just never thought Claud could be this ruthless.

Pulling her delicate chin closer to him, he uttered, "Bella, I'm protecting you. Everyone in Okmore knows you've betrayed me. As long as you continue being by my side as my woman, no one would dare to hurt you."

"I can protect myself!" Isabella retorted. She wasn't a weak woman.

The man smiled, radiating a sense of sympathy. "Be a good girl, will you?"

Averie McCoy was now the head of the McCoy family. She preferred boys over girls. How could Isabella protect herself when she wasn't even favored in the McCoy family?

"No, I don't agree!"

Claud's eyes darkened when she wasn't submitting herself to him. Standing up, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her out of her room. "You don't have a say in this!"

She was frantic with fear. "Where are you taking me?"

"To abort that bastard child in your belly!"

The word "bastard" angered her. She gave her all to break free from his control. "Claud, since you don't believe me, then let's break up!"

Expressionless, he glanced at her. "You'd rather choose to break up with me than to abort that child?"

Claud believed he had already been very benevolent to Isabella. Why weren't she appreciating any of it?

"Whatever you think."

She was tired of explaining. After doing it for two days, there wasn't anyone who was willing to believe that she didn't betray Claud.

"Isabella McCoy!"

She didn't give him a chance to speak. "I'm leaving now."

Looking at the girl's retreating figure, Claud became very gloomy. She was getting more and more disobedient.

Even if it was raining outside, she still decided to leave his residence. Standing in the rain, she looked back at the villa. Flashes of their sweet memories reminisced at the back of her mind.

However, before she could get in the car, she was escorted back inside by several bodyguards.

Just like that, she was forced to stay in the villa. However, Claud was nowhere to be found.

As the night fell, Isabella lay on the bed, feeling both mentally and physically exhausted. She closed her eyes and rubbed her lower abdomen with her hand, immersing in her own thoughts.

Where did it go wrong? Why was she pregnant?

Firstly, she didn't lose her memory. Secondly, she had never got drunk and been taken advantage of. Simply put, she didn't have sex with anyone. Yet, why was there a baby in her belly all of a sudden?

She was only 19 years old and had just started her college life. It might sound ridiculous, but did someone cast a spell on her?

Chapter 2 Disappearance

One day, an uninvited guest came to the villa.

Isabella was standing on the stairs in a creamy white silk nightdress, expressionless. Everything that happened recently wasn't putting her in a good mood. She looked at the girl in the living room downstairs. She was roughly around one or two years younger than Isabella.

And she was Frieda Lambert, Claud's sister.

Even if Isabella was lively and capricious at times, her elegance and nobility still showed since she was born into a rich family.

At this moment, she looked just like a goddess looking down at a mortal, moreover, when she was standing on higher ground compared to Frieda. Thinking of this, Frieda was a little annoyed. "Isabella, you still have the nerve to stay in my brother's place?"

"It's your brother who brought me here," Isabella reminded her kindly and added, "personally."

Personally? Isabella was perhaps the one and only in Okmore who could make Claud do things for her in person. Even Frieda, his biological sister, wasn't favored by him like that.

Frieda had no idea what Claud was thinking. There were so many extraordinary women who were willing to give themselves to him and yet, he chose to be with such a loose woman like Isabella. Frieda became more and more agitated as she pondered on the thought.

She wanted to throw a tantrum. However, when she thought of the purpose of her coming here, she suppressed her anger and said, "Claud asked me to come over and bring you to the hospital for an abortion. He said you can't keep the bastard in your belly."

Isabella turned pale. It felt like there was a sharp blade piercing through her heart the moment she heard her words. The pain stung so much that she could hardly breathe. "He asked you to take me to the hospital?" she asked doubtfully.

"He said he doesn't want to see you at all until you get the abortion."

Isabella didn't believe her. She turned around to walk up the stairs. "Tell him to talk to me himself!"

Besides, whether she'd get an abortion had nothing to do with the siblings. Did they really think she'd allow Frieda to step on her just because she tolerated her in normal times?

"Listen up! Go and take her away!"

This time, Frieda was well prepared. She had come here with her bodyguards because she was afraid Isabella refused to go with her.

Several strong men rushed in from the door right after receiving her order. Seeing this, Isabella was shocked. She looked at Frieda and said, "Frieda, you know your brother's feelings for me. If you dare to hurt me, do you think he will let you go?"

She felt a twinge of guilt. However, when she saw Isabella struggling to free herself from the bodyguards' control, joy sparkled inside her. "I'm not afraid of anything. Do you think I can get in here easily if Claud didn't give his permission?"

Isabella's heart ached as she muttered to herself inwardly, "Claud, so this is your choice, isn't it?"

She was then forced to get into a car and was taken to the hospital without any chance to ask for help along the way.

Isabella was in deep despair when she accidentally saw a person walking into the elevator. A mixture of emotions overwhelmed her at that instant. She knew this was going to be her last chance.

Seeing the doors closing, she slowed down her steps deliberately and noticed the elevator finally stopped on the seventh floor.

The bodyguards held onto Isabella and led her to the operating room. A nurse said coldly, "Go and lie down."

There weren't a lot of people in the room. Only one doctor and two nurses. Isabella glanced at the side door next to the operating room and realized that it was a special passage for medical waste disposal.

When no one was looking, she grabbed a scalpel from the side and put it against the doctor's neck. The nurses panicked at once.

"What are you doing?"

It was the first time for Isabella to do such a crazy thing as well. Speaking of fright, she wasn't experiencing it any lesser either. However, she needed to escape. She needed to know how she got pregnant. "Don't scream. Let me go, or I will kill her!"

The scalpel was extremely sharp. It scraped the doctor's neck by accident, and blood started to ooze.

The nurse nodded in a fit of panic. "Okay, okay!"

Isabella looked at the side door and ordered, "Open that door for me! If you dare to tell others about this, she'll die!"

As per her instructions, the nurse opened the passage door.

Isabella brought the doctor along into the passage and went up the stairs. She couldn't take the elevator. There were people guarding it. Isabella seized the doctor with her arms and climbed to the seventh floor. Opening the door of the staircase, she stepped out and glanced at the offices on both sides of the corridor.

It was night, and the place was exceptionally quiet. She shouted, "Terry! Terry Bentley!"

She saw Terry Bentley just now enter the elevator, but she didn't dare to act rashly because the bodyguards were with her.

Soon, a young man with yellow hair came out from one of the rooms. Terry came to the hospital to look for a friend. He didn't expect to see Isabella here in such a situation.

At the same time, doors of the elevator on the seventh floor opened. Frieda's bodyguards were after her.

Isabella panicked. She looked at the young man and screamed, "Help me!"

In less than two minutes, Terry knocked down the two bodyguards.

After coming out of the hospital, Isabella followed Terry into his car. When he was about to start the engine to leave, somebody knocked on the window of the front passenger seat. It was Frieda.

Terry rolled down the window when he heard the taps. While having the ongoing call in her hand, Frieda whispered in Isabella's ear, "I've told Claud about it. He's going to teach you a serious lesson!"

She then put her phone on speaker and said, "Claud."

Claud's aloof voice pierced through the call. "Isabella, stay there and don't go anywhere. If you dare to leave the hospital, you will be dead meat!"

Claud heard from Frieda that Isabella was with a man, and they seemed very intimate. He wasn't having a good feeling about it. He stepped on his gas pedal and sped towards the hospital at once.

The fine hairs behind her neck stood up when Isabella heard him. She touched her flat belly subconsciously, thinking of what Claud would do to her next.

All of a sudden, she yanked off Frieda's hand at the window and said to Terry immediately, "Go!"

Frieda fell to the ground. Before she could catch a glance of the car plate number, the red sports car had already dashed away at a lightning speed and disappeared into the night.

Five minutes later, a sharp, squeaky brake interrupted the silence of the night. Upon seeing the black car, Frieda quickly hurried over. "Claud, I failed to stop them. They ran away!"

He looked extremely sullen. He stared at the road junction that was within reach. "They won't run far away from me." He shifted his dark gaze to his sister. "Frieda."

Shivering in fright, Frieda stammered, "I was just obeying mom's orders. She asked me to do so. I didn't want to, but mom said it's for your own good."

For his own good?

Claud sneered, "This is the last time I'm tolerating with you. If I find out that you dare to hurt Isabella again, I won't let you go!"

Frieda was at a loss for words.

To Claud's surprise, Isabella had disappeared without leaving behind a trace since that night.

That year, Isabella was 19 years old, and Claud was 20.

Following the news of her disappearance, the rumors of her having an affair and eloping became more intense. While everyone was cursing her, they sympathized with Claud at the same time.

On the night before he went abroad, Claud sat in a messy room. He had destroyed every single thing that was related to Isabella. Looking at the flames in the fireplace, his eyes turned red.

After some while, he murmured to himself in a hoarse voice, "Isabella, do you think our relationship is over just because of this? No, I won't let it happen for the rest of my life. When I find you someday, you will be doomed for sure!"

Chapter 3 Encounter

Five years later, in Okmore.

Wans International Hotel.

A large-scale event was held tonight in the glass room of the back garden of the hotel. GL Group had organized a lavish banquet to welcome the return of the son of Lambert family who had studied abroad for four years, as well as to congratulate him for taking over the company.

Even if it was raining heavily, it couldn't stop their enthusiasm and excitement from holding the event.

It was almost eight o'clock. All the guests had arrived, and they were waiting for the man of the hour.

Shoving away the wet hair from her face, Isabella tilted her head and glanced at the hotel signboard before rushing in to take shelter from the rain. She came to attend a friend's birthday party, but she got out of the taxi in advance because of the traffic jam.

However, the rainstorm that came without any prior notice had made her a mess. Her wet clothes clung to her body, and her black eye shadow was smudged as if she had dark circles under her eyes.

At the same time, a low-key, black luxury car stopped in front of the hotel. Opening the umbrella, the driver got out of the car and trotted to the rear door.

A pair of brand new black leather shoes stepped onto the exquisite red carpet. Then, a young and charming man came into view, taking people's breath away. Despite the rain, his stunning appearance still managed to capture their attention.

Isabella was no exception.

She froze as if someone had nailed her to the ground.

The next moment, their eyes locked.

Isabella stared at him. It had been five years since they last met. She remembered he always wore white casual shirts back then, but now, he was dressed in formal apparel.

He had become more mature, and his expression was indifferent plus serious. There were hints of iciness in his deep-set eyes, and what was more, his aura was incomparably imposing and domineering.

Two to three buttons on his white dress shirt were unbuttoned, and his coat was draped casually on his arm. The black suit pants accentuated his long legs, while the pair of handmade leather shoes complemented his nobility.

He was wearing a set of high-end customized clothes.

It was him, the Claud Lambert that she hadn't met for a long time.

Their encounter came after five years, in the downpour, where the woman was drenched in the rain while Claud wasn't wet at all. His assistant was holding a black umbrella for him.

When their gazes met, Isabella gritted her teeth and suppressed her trembles. However, the man was calm instead. His eyes gently swept past her.

Right then, a familiar voice floated to her ears. "Isabella, are you okay?"

The man in a blue striped polo shirt stood in front of Isabella and blocked Claud's view from her.

Isabella's face was as pale as a ghost. Her lips quivered as she looked up at Norris. After recomposing herself, she answered in a hoarse voice, "I'm fine."

Norris Carter, was her current boyfriend.

Closing his umbrella, he dropped his coat over her body. "Why didn't you bring an umbrella with you? Or even drive? Thank God, I'm nearby."

He had rushed over as soon as he received her call earlier.

"Thanks." Isabella lowered her head.

The steady footsteps came closer. Dropping her gaze, she could only see the pair of black leather shoes. He seemed like he had slowed down, or so she thought.

Norris' gentle voice pierced through the invisible connection between them. "I've got a room in the hotel. Let me take you there."

Isabella was speechless.

No! It wasn't like that. Norris just wanted her to change out of her soaking wet clothes! Isabella felt really upset, afraid that Claud would misunderstand the situation.

Lifting her head all of a sudden, she glanced to the side.

However, the man had already walked past her. And the next second, he was surrounded by the high-ups who had been waiting for him for a long time.

She smiled bitterly. What was she expecting?

"Isabella?" Norris sensed something was wrong with her. He touched her forehead and asked, "You're having a fever? Doesn't seem like it."

She shook her head. "I'm fine. Let's go to the room. I want to take a hot shower."

"Okay, let me bring you there first. Then, I'll go back and get you some fresh clothes."

"All right, thanks."

They went up to the 22nd floor together. Isabella walked into the bathroom, and Norris made his leave only when he heard the sound of the running water.

As she stood under the shower head, warm water gushed down her cheeks. Her eyes shut tightly.

The scene of their encounter was everywhere in her mind.

Tears streamed down from the corners of her eyes. Isabella bit her lower lip. She didn't want to cry. However, only moments later, she could no longer hold it in and wept at last.

Norris came back with a set of fresh clothes and other things she might need. "It's still raining out there. I couldn't seem to hail a taxi and I saw your car keys on the kitchen counter, so I drove your car here." He handed her the bag of clothes and the car keys. "I have to go now. Are you gonna be okay on your own?" Isabella nodded weakly and waved him goodbye.

Because of the heavy rain, Isabella was late by almost an hour. When she arrived, there were more than twenty people in the private room already. Everyone around seemed to know one another.

"Isabella, you're finally here!"

"We're all waiting for you. Hurry up. Guzzle up three glasses of liquor as a punishment!"

"How can three glasses be enough? Everyone knows that she can drink a lot!" An unfriendly tone of a lady came through and silenced the surrounding area for a short moment.

Seeing that it was Frieda, Isabella wasn't surprised.

It was expected to see her tonight. After all, the people present were the rich kids from Okmore.

Frieda was obviously mocking her. Isabella had a low tolerance for alcohol. It wasn't an exaggeration to say that she could get drunk after drinking just a glass of liquor.

Five years back, Isabella went abroad, but she had to return three years ago because of her study.

During this period, she met and fought with Frieda many times. They were known to be on bad terms with one another. It wasn't anything shocking for the people to witness such a scene at the party.

They were just confused. They had heard about it that Frieda hated Isabella and always went against her, but nobody seemed to know where her hostility came from. In the beginning, Isabella chose to endure it. However, when she returned from abroad, Frieda was making things more and more difficult for her, and so she started to fight back every time she saw Frieda.

The one who held the birthday party was bold enough to invite both of them to the same event.

One was the noble daughter of the McCoy family, and the other was the little princess of the Lambert family. Wasn't the host afraid that these two people could tear down the private room if they got themselves into a heated argument?

As expected, Isabella retorted at that instant, "Frieda, stop talking nonsense. No one will regard you as a mute if you keep your mouth shut for like five minutes! So just shut up!"

Frieda's cheeks flushed with anger. Knowing that she couldn't win against Isabella, she tried to irritate her instead. "My brother, your ex-boyfriend has come back. Did you know that?"

Isabella gave her gift to the host and toasted the birthday girl calmly.

Putting down the glass, she flashed a smile laced with contempt and sarcasm. "Whether he's back or otherwise, it's none of my business. We broke up a long time ago. His whereabouts now has nothing to do with me."

"You'll know later whether it has got something to do with you," Frieda said with an evil grin.

Her sinister smile sent shivers down Isabella's spine, and she instantly became vigilant.

Isabella lost the game after joining shortly. At the same time, she came to understand what was meant by Frieda earlier.

"What is the punishment?" she asked.

She had drunk nearly a quarter of the bottle of liquor. If they continued to make her drink, she'd ring someone up in advance to come over and rescue her.

There was a moment of silence in the private room. The birthday girl next to her then replied, "Losers would have to either spend three days alone with one of the opposite-sex partners present today or to call their exes to confess their love."
