♥️CHAPTER 1♥️ The students chattered loudly as the home room teacher is yet to arrive . Kizzy and flora were are at a corner discussing their usual girl talk . "So he was like 'can we go out ?..'in public and I only hissed and walked away "Kizzy laughed . "Ha!.....i totally killed him ,am sure he will wish the ground should swallow him .A lot of people were there but am happy I was able to embarrass him "Kizzy added . "That was harsh .Nick is a good guy "Flora said thoughtfully .

"I know but he is too ugly gosh !.I can ever go out with him talk-less of dating him .Just looking at him is enough to give me sleepless night " "You are exaggerating Kizzy .He is not that bad "Flora commented glancing at nick who is sitted at the far end of the classroom scribbling something on his notebook . "Yeah ,He is not so bad ,then go ahead and date him "Kizzy said following her eyes . "He is in love with you not me "Flora commented and looked at Nick and her own words hurt her . ...."Though I wish he is in love with me "Flora muttered inaudibly to herself . "He should go find ugly girls like him not me "Kizzy chuckled . Kizzy is no doubt a very beautiful girl .With short wavy hair and an incredible hot face that got guys drooling ,She is sure one of the most beautiful girl in the school . Kizzy have only one friend ,Flora .She believes having a lot of friends is the beginning of doom so she only stick with flora . The home room teacher entered ...Miss Doris .She is the new home room teacher as the previous one is on maternity leave . The students greeted her and she only nodded keeping a strict face . "My name is miss Doris and am your new home room teacher ."She said glancing at them all with a mean look . It was obvious she wasn't happy being there . She picked the register and started calling out names and marking the students present . "I hate her already ...She looks really mean "Flora whispered to Kizzy . "Me too "Kizzy whispered but Miss Doris heard her and glared at her but said nothing . Kizzy gulped down nothing and face her desk . Miss Doris was halfway through the names when a girl rushed in but stopped on her track when she saw the teacher . "And who are you and what do you want ?"Miss Doris glared at the girl who just came in . "She is in this class"A student answered "Did I ask you .Can't she talk ?"Miss Doris and the student who spoke up kept her mouth shut . "So why are you just coming now .You think because this is a public school ,You can come to school anytime you want .uh ?!" The girl said nothing and tucked her hair behind her ear as she looks at the teacher with a confused face . Silence sets in More silence and the teacher was getting angry . "Am I not talking to you !?...You know what ..,Deten...."Miss Doris sentence was cut short as the principal entered with a guy trailing behind him . The girl used the opportunity to go to her seat which is at the middle row . The students greeted t the principal and he replied them with a smile . "So you all have a new student ...His name is Ben "He said and Ben smiled . Miss Doris is now sitted as she stared angrily at the principal for interrupting her and didn't say anything to the girl who came in late but he choose to act ignorant. The Principal told Ben to go and sit down at an empty seat which was beside 'the girl ' "Hi "He said smiling but she said nothing and ignored him . "Okay that rude"He muttered to himself . "Miss Doris let me see you for a minute "The principal said and she stood up and went to where he is . The class watchs as the principal talked to Miss Doris in inaudible words and Miss Doris mouth formed an "oh "as she stared at the girl who came in late and shook her head understandably . The principal left and Miss Doris returned back to what she was doing .Calling out names . Soon enough ,She was done and she left the classroom . Kizzy smiled as she stared at the new guy . "Wow !He is cute not like ugly Nick "She told Flora and chuckled. "Stop calling Nick ugly "Flora said sadly "I don't really fantasy lying "Kizzy laughed and stand up . "Where to ?"Flora asked "Watch ..."Kizzy winked and stood up and walked to Ben 's desk "Hi am Kizzy .Welcome to our school "Kizzy said with her brightest smile and both Ben and his seat mate who still haven't said a word to him looked up at her . "Am Ben "He returned the smile. "Do you mind if I show you around ..Break period ..Perhaps" "Sure ..,I would love that "He said staring at her . Kizzy turned and went back to meet Flora. Ben turned to face his seat-mate and he caught her staring at him but she didn't look away . "Is something wrong "He asked finding her stare too intent . She said nothing . Same silence . "Am trying to be friends but you won't even say a word .I sure don't want a grumpy seat mate ..."He said and she blinks but continued to look at him directly . "So what your name?"He asked but she said nothing . He was tempted to hiss but he did not .He move his gaze away from her and tried to do something else .The girl only continued to look at him and she suddenly felt sad but did not say anything. The bell rang for first period and the students started leaving the home room class. The girl on seeing the students leaving carried her bags also and also left the classroom. Ben shook his head and signed.She sure is a weird girl . "Hey Ben "He heard his name and saw Kizzy and another girl coming towards him . "Hey am Flora "She introduced "Ben "He said and they shook hands . "So what are you having first ?"Kizzy asked him . "English " "Wow !Me too " "Oh that cool !You can take me there then "Ben said and They left the classroom with Flora trailing behind them .She saw Nick who was also about leaving the classroom staring at Kizzy and she shook her head sadly . ✍️Authoress Adams

Ben scribes down what the English teacher was explaining to the class . He was seated with Kizzy who was not paying attention at all but muttering inaudible words . His homeroom seat mate ,The girl he classify as "Weird and rude "is seated at the far end of the classroom . He just sighed and continued paying attention to what the teacher is saying. ------- It was like all the teachers in the school were born harsh and strict . It was fourth period already and none of the teachers were a bit calm nor nice .

Anytime a teacher ask a question and he happens to know the answer ,He would raise his hand up and the teacher would just roll his /her eyes like it not a big deal . Ben could never been more happier when the bell rang for break period and the grumpy man who happens to be the history teacher left the class dragging his legs . "I hate that man!"Kizzy said rolling her eyes . "I know ,right "Ben laughed . She faced him "Should I take you round the school or we eat first ?" "Just show me around first "He said after some minutes . Flora wasn't with them at the moment .She was summoned by the principal immediately history class was over . Ben and Kizzy walked side by side in the hallways as they walked silently . "So how about that girl ?"Ben suddenly asked breaking the silence . "What girl ?"She asked "My seat mate in homeroom class .She only attended English class with us .Did not see her again after that "Ben explained . "Oh !That true .I don't know what up tho "Kizzy said thoughtfully . "Is she always like that ?...Rude or she is perhaps an introvert or ....Wait !,She can't talk ?"Ben eyes widened . "I should have known .She didn't answer my questions but continued looking at me .I should have known it because she can't talk .Oh God !,I must have embarrassed her "Ben rambled as he ran his fingers through his hair . Kizzy chuckles ."She can talk of course .It just that ....." She was interrupted by a voice . "Hey yo!" Ben and Kizzy turned simultaneously and saw a guy walking towards them with a smile . "Hi Kel "Kizzy said with a blank tone rolling her eyes "I will pretend I didn't see that "He smiled and faced Ben . "Ooh I haven't seen you before "He said scanning his face . "He is a new student dummie "Kizzy eyes Kel. "How am I supposed to know that .This is a public school and we don't wear uniform and he is putting on a housewear and of course ,he didn't write 'Hey yo ,am a new student 'on his forehead "Kel rambled sticking his tongue out at her . "And I really don't know why you are explaining your life history to us "Kizzy said sarcastically rolling her eyes . "Okay ..."Ben laughed awkwardly looking at the guy and Kizzy . "Right !This is Kelvin ,My dumb brother .He is a senior blah blah and Kel ,This is Ben ....,New student "Kizzy introduced with boredom . "Now Kel ,would you get out of here ...,am trying to show Ben around "Kizzy eyed him "Whatever sis "Kelvin smiled and move closer to Ben . "If you want to stay alive ,Stay away from her .She is a witch "Kelvin whispered to Ben and jogged away before Kizzy can say anything . Ben laughed . "What did he tell you ?"Kizzy glared at him folding her arms on her chest "Never mind "He chuckled . Kizzy rolled her eyes and continued Showing him around . They got along well and Ben was beginning to love her company forgetting the discussion they were having before Kelvin interrupted them. ------- Ben later made friend with a guy ..,more like a bookworm ,Juel that same day. He was actually cool to be with also and they got along pretty well . The didn't talk much .Juel only talked about books and historys and Ben later got bored and excused himself . Closing period ,Ben grabbed his backpack and left the classroom. It was his first day and he actually enjoyed it with Kizzy ,Flora and Juel . Kelvin too even though the meeting was brief . He passed through the hallways and bumped into a few students as there were all rushing . He chuckled within himself .Who wouldn't be happy to go home .With Mean teachers and very short break period..,It was one hell of a school . He was about leaving the school compound when he sighted the' girl '. His seat mate actually ,in homeroom class . She didn't attend any class except for English and he wondered why . He stopped walking and looked at her .She was not alone .She was with a slightly older guy with dreadlocks. He is holding her hand and her backpack on his other hand . She glanced up and her eyes locked with Ben's .She looked away immediately and walked away with the guy . Ben sighed and left the school compound .He boarded a taxi as his mom couldn't pick him up . He thought about the girl again and realized he don't even know her name .

Ben got to school pretty early the next day .He got to the home room class and met only two student in .A girl and juel sitting together at the far end of the classroom .The girl was reading a novel while Juel was solving a math problem .He wasn't even aware of Ben presence in the classroom.Yeah ,He is a nerd . Ben wasn't surprised the students haven't arrived because he was super early .Juel glanced up as Ben sat down making a little noise . "Hey "Ben greeted as he sat down . "Hi"Juel replied and immediately continued solving the math problem .The girl raised up her head from the novel she is reading and smiled at Ben waving a little . Few minutes later ,Ben stared at the door tapping his foot on the floor .Another guy entered and went straight to his seat sighing . He left his seat and went to ben's and tapped him . Ben raised his head up to see the guy grinning at him . "Is ...something wrong ?..."Ben asked slowly . "Nah ,Not really .Am nick "He introduced . "Nice to meet you .Am Ben " "I know ..."Nick rolled his eyes . "That weird ."Ben stated laughing and Nick only rolled his eyes again . "Would you please stop rolling your eyes "Ben laughed and Nick joined in . "So ...How are you ....."Nick stopped his statement as someone walked in the classroom . Ben glanced up to see his seat mate . "Oops!,We will talk later "Nick said and got up and went back to his seat . Ben watched as his seat mate took her seat beside him . "Look who is early today "He said smiling .She looks at him and looked away immediately not saying a word . "Your attitude is beginning to get annoying "Ben voiced out his thoughts loudly and groaned . What her deal exactly!Is she feeling too big or she just choose to be a rude jerk . Nick who heard Ben signed . "Stop talking to her Ben "He said and Ben turned . "Why ?"He asked raising his brows . "She can't hear you "Nick said Ben got up from his seat and went to where Nick is sitted . "What do you mean ?"He asked "She is ....kinda deaf"Nick explained and Ben eyes widened . That the reason she is not talking to him .She can't hear anything he have been saying to her . She is not rude but condition made her like that . He judged her and now he is feeling guilty. "She ...She is deaf ?!"Ben stuttered completely taken aback. "Yeah .." "I heard her mom took her to a school for her kind but she was really sad and cried everyday saying she is normal and wants to go to a normal school ...Tho she doesn't associate with anybody here ,I guess she is happy and she is actually really intelligent and aced all tests and exams but it sad she can't hear anything ."Nick said and Ben felt pity for her . She is really pretty .He could bet she is one of the most beautiful girl he have ever met and all he wants is to be friends with her . "But why didn't she say anything.She could have at least let me know she can't hear what am saying when I was trying to talk to her "Ben said thoughtfully. "She don't talk with anybody ..that I noticed .The girls here are not really nice and they do not associate with her .Well am guessing it because girls like gathering together and gossiping or whatever and she won't be able to contribute anything because yunno ..."He said . "That doesn't matter .They should have at least try to be friends with her "Ben said "I know right "Nick signed . "So she is always herself every time.."Ben signed . He later left Nick and went back to his seat .She was reading a book . He tapped her and when she looked at him ,He smiled sheepishly. He moved his gaze from her and brought out his jotter Neatly ,He wrote down ...... "Hi my name is Ben . What your name Please ?" He passed it to her and when she read it ,She looked at him with surprise and smiled within her . No one have tried to associate with her ever since she came to the school but she did not really care .She just want to be among people and be happy . Ben looked at her hopefully as she finished reading it .She opened her mouth to say something but decided against it . She wrote underneath the jotter. "Am Rissa,Why are you asking ?" She passed the note to him and he smiled . "Wow !Rissa !" He muttered to himself and smiled . He wrote again . .............."You got a really nice name ,I wanna be your friend and please can I hear your voice ...please ?" She read it and looked at him.Almost immediately ,Students started trooping in . "Hey Ben ,You came early today "A voice said Almost loudly . Ben sighed as he stared at Rissa who had started reading a book . He turned to see Kizzy beside his desk smiling at him . "Oh yeah ...I don't practice lateness "he said dryly . "Wow !,I love that !"Kizzy winked . "So ......."She started and started an unnecessary conversation with Ben . Ben just listened to her ramble as he said just few words in response to what she is saying . It feels like she is not leaving anytime soon as she continued talking and all he wants is just to talk to Rissa. Flora is reading a novel at one side of the classroom .It still early and the homeroom teacher is yet to arrive . She feels a presence beside her and she just guessed it Kizzy . "Finally!...What are you even discussing with Ben ?"Flora breath out not raising her gaze from the novel she is reading . "Am not Kizzy "A voice said and flora raised her head up almost immediately and her eyes widened seeing Nick . "Ooh hey ....I mean hi .......oh sorry I didn't mean to be rude by saying hey .....Like hi ..,not hey ....Like how are you ...."Flora spitted out nonsense as she stuttered . Her heart was beating against her chest and she is practically going crazy . Nick laughed softly ."You are funny " "You think am funny! "Flora widened her eyes feeling happy . Nick was gobsmacked as he stared at her . "Oh well ,You are ....I wanted to ask u that ......" Flora immediately zoned out .Of course he wants to ask about Kizzy not her .He likes Kizzy not her . He isn't sitting with her coz he wants to but he wants to ask about her best friend . Nick stared at Flora weirdly ."You are not answering me "He said "Uh !,What did u say ?" "I asked what the title of the novel you are reading .it kinda caught my attention .Sorry ..,but am a fan of novels "He smiled . "Oh ...."Flora was taken aback. "Erm....It ...The title is Wuthering heights by Emily Bronte ...Here ,You can have it "She said giving it him . He collected it and observed it . "Must be interesting,Can you lend me when you are done reading it ?" "Sure ...you can take it now ....I will read it later "she said immediately. "Oh finish reading it .I will collect it when you are done okay "He smiled and stood up to leave . He turned to look at her . "Anyways can I have your digits?"He said and flora mentally slapped her self to be sure she is not dreaming . She was about saying something when the homeroom teacher ,Miss Doris entered the classroom. "Later then "He said and went to his seat . Kizzy left Ben and went back to her seat . "Good morning students ...."Miss Doris said with a frown . Oh well !Seems she is always in a bad mood .... 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸 Immediately Miss Doris was done ,She strolled our of the classroom with an angry face . students started leaving the homeroom class . Rissa stood up to leave too and Ben quickly holds her hand stopping her . His hand felt warm on hers and she smiled inwardly . Ben scratch his head not knowing what to do . Still holding one of her hands ,He quickly scribbled on a paper . ..*"Can we have lunch together during break .....please ?"* He gave her the paper and she read it and simply nods her head signalling yes . He felt happy and she slowly removed his hand from hers and left the classroom. "Woah !,She is associating with you !That a shocker !" Kizzy said behind him . Ben turned to face her "Why did you say that ?"He asked . "Because she is always on her own "Kizzy shrugged "Or because you never tried to talk to her .She is human like you and deserves to be treated well .She is always on her own you say ...,Then why don't you walk up to her and talk to her ..Why don't you make friends with her and see her act cheerful . At first ,I thought she was rude but now I know better .She is not rude at all and is only like this because nobody is making any attempt to be her friend .Imagine you were in her shoes ,What would you have done when you don't have any friends .You just come to school and go back . Same routine everyday .Nobody to make you laugh ,Nobody to call your friend .Don't you think Suicide would be the next thing you would think of ?.Just try to be her friend please and if you don't want to then it fine ......okay ?"Ben said and walked out of the classroom while Kizzy just stood there completely Gobsmacked . Flora eyes stayed widened.They were both taken aback with Ben's words . "Oh well!,....I wasn't expecting that ..."Kizzy managed to utter .

♥️CHAPTER 3♥️ The bell rang for break and Ben stands up from his seat,carries his backpack and lazily strolled out of the classroom . They just finished mathematics and he could feel his head banging . Kizzy have been trying her best to avoid him after what he said to her in homeroom class and she is really doing a great job avoiding him . Fortunately ,Rissa attended all classes with Ben but halfway through math class ,She left the classroom. Kizzy walked out of the classroom with Flora .She sighed .

"For goodness sake Kizzy ,Would you please stop sighing !You sound like an old woman right now " Kizzy frowned but said nothing . "I just want to talk to him but it will look awkward doing that after what he said .I truly feel bad .Rissa have been here for like a year and nobody have ever talked to her or try to .i also did not try to .Am a bad person ,Right ?"She faced Flora almost tearing up . "Don't feel bad kizzy .We are all at fault here .I also did not try to talk to her "Flora said sadly . "I feel like a bad person right now " Kizzy cleaned her tears with her palm . They started walking through the hallways and saw Ben heading to the cafeteria. "Common,Let go meet him "Flora said dragging Kizzy with her . "Hey Ben "Kizzy said silently as they got to where he is . "Oh hi .."He smiled . "Have you seen Rissa ?"He asked "Nope .Not really "Kizzy answered as the three walked together toward the cafeteria . "But she said she would ..."Ben muttered to himself but Kizzy and Flora heard but said nothing They got to the cafeteria and found a table .Ben gazed around the cafeteria but couldn't find Rissa. "I don't think Rissa is coming if she is the one you are looking for because she have never been to the cafeteria "Kizzy explained . "Oooh "Ben said sadly . They started eating quietly .The silence was really disturbing and awkward. Ben felt a pat on his shoulder and raised his head up to see Rissa. Kizzy and Flora were shocked seeing her .Kizzy wanted to talk but she decided against it . Ben quickly draw out a chair and signalled for Rissa to sit of which she did . She made eye contact with Kizzy and Flora and gulped down nothing . It feels weird sitting with them on her own part .She have always had her lunch in the principal's office . Most times ,She don't attend classes when the teacher is explaining coz she can't hear what he /she is saying and the teachers did not care about that . She either go to the principal office or her Special room in the school . She is used to being alone . Her mom loved her .Like a lot and would do anything to make her happy . She buys the latest things for her .Dress ,Shoes ,The latest iPhone ,Laptop etc. Rissa comes from a rich family .No doubt about that ,She have been deaf from birth . It takes only God's miracle to heal her .Her dad love her and hate her at the same time .He is the best father to her but only at home .He is always ashamed to show her off to his friends or business partners . Sometimes ,He wish she just die because to him ...,Being deaf is like a curse . A lot of people believed he have only one child . Samson ..That his name .Her dad's favourite son . He is a school drop out .He got expended in his first year of college after raping a teacher to coma because she refused to date him . Weird right ? Samson is Wild .He smokes ,drinks ,clubs .He was sexually attracted to the lecturer and when she he asked her out ,she refused .because 1,It not appropriate and normal . 2,She is 8 years older than him . He drugged her and raped her but was caught by the Woman's husband but the woman had blacked out already . The case was taken to court but Samson's dad was able to close the case with his money and power . Fortunately,The lecturer regained consciousness after two weeks and Samson was expelled from the school . Samson love his sister,Rissa and is ready to do anything for her .Even take a bullet for her .He have his own apartment .He is in a gang but he always make up time to see his sister and hang out with her . Back to present ,Ben smiled at Rissa and passed a bowl of french fries to her .She started eating slowly bowing down her head . Now what ? She can't communicate with them unless they pen their words down .She sighed regretting accepting to have lunch with Ben . She should at least be happy he is trying to be her friend .Nobody have ever tried to . *Fast forward .........* The bell rang for closing and students started leaving the classroom . Kizzy ,Nick ,Flora,Ben and Rissa and some other students were still in the classroom probably still waiting for their ride except from Ben who was still in school because Rissa is not making any attempt to leave yet . He brought out his phone and typed a few words then passed it to her . She collected the phone and read it . ...*Can I have your digit ...please ..* She smiled inwardly .He is always saying '.please' She went to the call log and typed in her number and gave him his phone back . Almost immediately,Her phone beeped .It a message from Samson . ..."Baby Girl ,Am at your school gate ..." She carried her back pack and exit the classroom . Ben stared at her number for what seems like forever and eventually saved it with Riss with a heart shaped Emoji.He was about pocketing his phone but then thought it kinda weird since she is not his girlfriend or something .He was about removing the Emoji when a voice spoked behind him . "Wait !Do you like her ?"The voice asked in a loud voice . Ben flinched only to see nick smiling sheepishly. "Hey !,You scared me "Ben frowned . "Whatever...Answer my question ,You like Rissa?"Nick asked again "What are you even talking about ?...wait ,Where is everybody ?"Ben eyes widened .It was only him and Nick in the classroom . "Lemme guess ...You were too busy trying to get your crush number that you don't know when everybody left and when Kizzy said 'bye Ben ' and left too "Nick rolled his eyes . "Wait ,What !"Ben was shocked .Was he that engrossed?. Nick shrugged . Ben carried his backpack and exit the classroom with Nick . "Just answer my question already " "How can you even ask that .I don't even know her .This is my second time of seeing her .Am just trying to be her friend that all "Ben explained . "Yeah ,Yeah !,I hear you "Nick rolled his eyes annoying Ben . "Are you even a guy .Always rolling your eyes like a girl .Eisssh!That weird "Ben said "It my signature "Nick winked . "Well your signature isn't cool at all " "Whatever " "Aaaargh" "Just leave me alone dude " "Okay "Ben said and walked faster leaving Nick behind . "Wait !,I was just joking "Nick laughed running after him . ------------- Ben got home and headed straight to the kitchen .His food is already packed in the fridge . He saw a paper on the counter . .....*I left 30 dollars in your room in case you need anything .it in your drawer .Will be back late in night .You can make dinner or order for something .Love you ❤️.........* Mom ✅. "Love you too mom "he muttered to himself smiling and quickly carried his food to his room ready to devour it . His mom and dad got divorced like two month ago .his dad is always cheating on her but she just choose to ignore it hoping she would change but he did not . She couldn't take it anymore when she caught him sleeping with a lady on their matrimonial bed and she opted for a divorce immediately . His mom got custody over him as his dad didn't even fight for him at the court .He also want the divorce and is not ready to take full custody of his son alone . After the divorce ,His mom left the state ,Florida for New York to start a new life . Ben had to say goodbyes to his friends and his school . When they reach New York ,His mom immediately enrolled him in a Public school that not really far from their new apartment . He have been in New York for one week now and he can't say if he is enjoying his stay or not . ....... Few minutes later ,Ben was done eating .He washed the dishes and retired back to his room . He don't have any friends in the neighbourhood yet as he hardly goes outside . Remembering Rissa.He texted her and drop his phone . He hopes she replies him . {Evening } Ben finished reading and closed his books .He have done his assignments also . Rissa haven't replied him yet .He logged in on Facebook .Replied a few messages and logged out back . He left his room and went outside only to find a puppy at the front porch. The puppy barked happily seeing him .He was about carrying it but a tiny voice stopped him . "Don't touch my puppy " The owner of the voice walked towards him and he took a minute to check her out . Fluffy slipper ,White bump-short and a pink top with spongebob image on it . Her hair is pink but it obvious she dyed it and she looked extremely pretty . He couldn't get his eyes off her . "Stop staring at me ...,pervert "She said in her tiny voice eyeing him and carried her puppy . "Next time ,don't try to touch my puppy "She said frowning . She turned to leave. "Wait !,am not a pervert !"He half yelled . She said nothing and entered the house beside his . "Oh so she is even my neighbour "He said to himself and smiled .
