Chapter 1 The Funeral

All the members of the Flynn family gathered at the Old Flynn Family Mansion. A funeral will be taking place today and all the members of the family were wearing black.

It was the funeral of old Nathan Flynn. Nathan Flynn, the head of the Flynn family suffered from a heart attack and passed on.

Nathan Flynn was a respected man among the influential family in the city. He was a man of great virtue and prestige. Other than the Flynn family member, many people from distinguished backgrounds in the city came to pay their respects. Many people entered the mourning hall wearing similar black attire to show pay their final respects.

Nathan's casket was in the middle of the room, with white flowers surrounding the casket.

Amidst the family members, stood Katherine, the granddaughter-in-law of Nathan Flynn. She is the wife of Tristan Flynn, the CEO of the Fylnn Group. He was missing from the scene.

Tristan's absence was unacceptable, as there were many guests present at the funeral. Other family members were spread out among the crowd greeting the guests and receiving condolences.

Right before noon, Nathan's casket was moved to the cemetery for burial.

When the family members reached the cemetery, Tristan was still a no show.

The funeral continued till noon. No one saw Tristan even after the funeral was over.

As the guests and family members walked away Katherine who was in deep thought stood in front of Nathan's grave.

Her marriage with Tristan would likely come to an end since Tristan's Grandpa has passed on. After all, it was Grandpa who forced Tristan to marry Katherine two years ago.

"Grandpa, I will visit you when I can. Please take care", Katherine murmured lowly and wiped her tears.

Right after Katherine turned around and was about to leave, she was stunned by the sight that greeted her.

Tristan was standing close by.

He was dressed in a well-ironed handmade black suit and a pair of shiny leather shoes. He was an exceptionally handsome man with an aloof expression. His black clothes made him look even more handsome than he usually his.

Regardless his good looks have always been able to garner the curious gazes of the people around him.

His expression was thunderous and he was gazing at Nathan's gravestone.

Standing behind him was the girl who already had a place in his heart, Ellie.

Chapter 2 About Time

Tristan brought the girl who has occupied his heart along to attend such an event today. Perhaps he could not wait any longer to introduce Ellie to the rest of the Flynn family members.

Katherine felt like her heart has been pierced by a needle. Her eyes hurt more than her heart.

She turned around and left the place quietly, not wanting to witness the scene in front of her. She left the cemetery in a daze The scene occupied her mind and it hurt so much that she felt like she couldn't breathe.

She felt nauseated and rushed to a tree nearby. She retched for a long time, but nothing came up. Suddenly she remembered that she had not eaten anything all day.

After a while, she started walking and went down the mountains. The Flynn mansion was nearby the cemetery and soon Katherine stood in front of the mansion. She looked at the mansion before her with tears in her eyes, thinking that it would be her last time here.

During the past two of their marriage, Tristan hardly paid any attention to Katherine let alone cared for her. So it is only right that their marriage ends and they move on and live the rest of their life separately.

Since Grandpa has passed on, and after his funeral, it would only be a matter of time before Tristan hands her over the divorce papers. Tristan could not wait for his lawyer to draw up their divorce papers soon after his grandpa passed on.

His grandfather Nathan Flynn had three children. The Eldest child was Nolan, who was Tristan's father. He died in an accident along with his wife, leaving Tristan alone. The Second was Stewart, who doesn't have any children with his wife Peyton. The youngest was a daughter named Nora, who has a son named Kyle with her husband Easton.

Nathan had valued Tristan so much that he passed on the reigns of the Flynn family to Tristan. With Tristan now being the CEO of Flynn group, he no longer has to answer regarding his decisions with his family members that include his decision to divorce Katherine. Even though both Stewart and Nora doted on Katherine, there is nothing much they could do to persuade Tristan.

Katherine kept walking down the mountains. The Flynn family home was on top of the mountain, and there was no public transportation nearby, so she could only walk down the mountain.

It was getting dark and it looked like it would soon drizzle.

Thinking so, Katherine quickened her pace.

A car engine roared nearby.

Chapter 3 Thunderstorms

"Screech. . . ." a Maybach stopped by the road.

Katherine turned around and faced the car.

The window rolled down and revealed Tristan who was sitting in the driver's seat.

'Why is Tristan here? Where is Ellie?' thought Katherine.

"Get in!" said Tristan in a low voice. He did not even look at Katherine when he said that.

Katherine was reluctant to get into the car. However it was monsoon season, and it was getting dark. Thinking so without delaying anymore Katherine pulled open the passenger side door and got into the car.

The car slowly started moving toward the city center.

The atmosphere in the car was weird and tense. Both Katherine and Tristan remained quiet throughout the journey.

At first, Katherine thought they were heading to the villa where they lived. But soon she realized they were heading in a direction unknown to her. Although she was confused, she did not ask Tristan and remained silent. Occasionally, she glimpsed at Tristan from time to time from the corner of her eyes. As usual, Tristan seemed distant and focused on driving, keeping his gaze fixed on the road.

Soon they arrived in front of a cozy-looking restaurant.

Katherine got down from the car and entered the restaurant to find them a table. She took a seat by the window and the waiter handed her a menu. She waited while Tristan parked the car.

Soon after Tristan parked the car he entered the restaurant. Seeing Katherine seated at a table, Tristan went over and sat opposite of Katherine.

"Did you order?" Tristan asked while taking the menu from the table.

"No" replied Katherine.

Tristan nodded and named a few items from the menu to the waiter. Afterward, Katherine also placed her order and gave the menu back to the waiter.

Thereafter, the two of them remained silent. The atmosphere was cold and awkward.

The waiter brought out the food and served them at their table.

They both ate their dinner silently like they always do. Once they finished their dinner, Tristan paid the bill and walked out of the restaurant together.

Katherine waited at the entrance of the restaurant while Tristan went to bring the car from the parking lot.

On the way to their home, Tristan discussed the recent dealings of the company with Katherine.

Katherine worked at the Flynn company as a Director of the Housing department.

"You will be in charge of selecting the new spokesperson for the company this year", said Tristan coldly.

"Yes." Katherine agreed and nodded.

Katherine would accept and carry out whatever task Tristan assigned her without any objection.

Tristan further provided Katherine with some instructions briefly.

By the time they arrived home, it was raining and lightning was flashing. A thunderstorm seems to be happening.
