My mate is a Human

With a loud thump, the body dropped, causing an almost deafening crash. The two men stood at the top of the stairs in shock, ready to make a run for it before the person or thing could get to them. With just two big steps the creature swept the men off their feet and the rest was history.

The wailing of police sirens echoed into the night as the men were loaded into separate cars and taken away. They all looked like they had just been eaten limb by limb.

This was something that would surely be written up in the papers, but this was hardly the first time something similar happened. "This doesn't look like it was done by anything human," said a Cop "It looks more like an animalistic attack," said another one, shaking slightly. All three men agreed, but they didn't say so out loud. "What do we do, people are asking questions," Said another cop.

"We keep investigating," said Officer Laura.

"Whatever that has been doing this isn't human for sure, and I'll make sure to find it" Officer Laura stated.

Laura James, a 45-year-old head of the crime unit was a woman with an attitude, who was determined not to let this happen again. She wasn't about to go back on her word, no matter how hard it may be. She knew it would have been easier if these attacks hadn't happened so often, but this was part of life, and she's been dealing with this for quite some time.

"Once the forensic results are out we can know exactly what we're dealing with"

Officer Laura looked up from the pictures taken of the bodies of the two victims.

The bell signaling the end of the history lecture went off.

Diana walked out of the room quickly, eager to get away from Kai who's been talking her ears off since the lecture started. "Wait up Ana" Kai ran after Diana, catching up with her outside "So as I was saying, these new guys are phenomenal" She gushed, grabbing Diana's arm "Apparently they just transferred from their old college to ours... I saw them at the staff office.. ugh hotties" She continued.

Diana rolled her eyes playfully, she loved her best friend, she really did, but sometimes she could be so over the top when it came to her crushes on guys, and she was just going on about it now, which was making Diana want to punch her square in the face.

"Well, I can't wait to meet them if they're all that you've been talking about," Diana said with a forced smile.

"I told you right? they're three in number-"

"Yes, you told me in the middle of history class, you're making my ears bleed. So if you don't mind, can we just go?" Diana asked

"Yes! Okay fine, whatever". Kai gave a small pout, but she soon changed her demeanor and smiled.

"Where are we even going?"

"I don't know, maybe we could sit here," Diana pointed at one of the seats under a large tree.

"So did you watch the news last night?" Asked Kai as they sat down.

"No" Diana shook her head.

"You missed the latest episode of another brutal killing in the woods," Kai said. "They said it isn't anything human," She added.

"That's why Mum wasn't home last night" Diana muttered.

"That's right, have you heard from your mum? She's handling this case, right? She should be very careful, whatever it is, it ain't playing games"

"Yeah," Diana sighed "I hope she's okay though..." She said quietly.

"We have a class now," Kai said. Diana and Kai both sighed, wishing their classes were over for the day.

Both walking hand in hand into class Kai dragged Diana to the back side making Diana groan. Students started filling the class, and there were barely any empty seats left, only a few. Three undeniably handsome guys walked into the class. They must be the guys that Kai had described earlier. And oh boy was their beauty out of this world.

Diana noticed a few girls whispering behind their hands, even boys. One of the guys had blonde hair and tan skin, he looked unreal, his eyes were gray, and he wore a black jean jacket. He seemed confident and cool as he looked around the class.

The other boy was damn hot, slightly shorter than the rest of them, he wore yellow framed sunglasses, tight skinny jeans ripped on the knees, and a dark gray shirt tucked into the jeans. His brown hair fell onto his forehead as he turned to whisper something to the blonde guy who nodded slowly.

Finally, the last boy, speechless, let's start with his full arm tattoos, and the fact he wore a sleeveless shirt wasn't helping. He was just too good to be true. His eyes were piercing. Oh, and his piercings? How many were they? He's just what you simply call perfect, they all are, in different ways and auras. I honestly wasn't expecting them to be...this ethereal. Kai clearly wasn't explaining well.

Even though everyone was staring at them, they seemed perfectly calm. My breath hitched when the one with the tattoos locked eyes with mine. Why was he staring? Did he notice me staring at him?

My thoughts were broken, however, when the lecturer walked into the class. Everyone's attention snapped away from the three boys and onto the teacher as they took seats close to each other.

Something about them was strange. Did they all transfer at the same time? Why did they leave their previous school?

These were the thoughts running through my head.

"I told you they are beautiful" Kai whispered loudly enough to catch the attention of several students next to me.

"Shut up Kai," I responded without looking over at her.

A few minutes passed in awkward silence until the lecturer finished his lesson, everyone shuffled out quickly to find their next class, while still eyeing the new students with curiosity. A couple of the boys introduced themselves as they went.

"Should we go introduce ourselves?" Kai chimed

"Don't be embarrassing Kai" I scoffed leaving the class just like every other student did. Suddenly I'm being pulled back into the class immediately I took the first step out.

I gasped, pulling my arm away from the stranger's grip. "You dropped this." The tattoo guy said, staring at me the same way he did at the beginning of class but this time with a smile.

Seeing him up close was even much better. He got more handsome the more I stared. My heart was beating violently against my chest.

Something about him just makes me curious.

Draws me in.

Makes me feel like we should be together, I know that sounds stupid considering I'm just meeting him for the first time today, but I can't help the feeling.

"Oh... thank you" I took the pen I thought I had on the side of my bag.

"I'm Zayn" He extended his right hand for me to shake "And these are my friends, Justin and Cole," He said turning his head to gesture towards the two boys at the back Kai stood probably introducing herself.

"Uh I'm Diana" I shook his hand and I swear electric shocks shot throughout my whole body. His grip on my hand was tight, almost too tight to be painful.

"Nice to meet you Diana" He bit his lower lip, staring me down. It took everything in me not to blurt out something embarrassing, but instead, I smiled and made my way over to Kai, ignoring Zayn's stares as I dragged Kai along with me and walked past him and his friends.

"We both know she didn't lose that pen" Cole smirked at me.

"Yea I stole it from the side of her bag"

"So wanna tell us why you introduced yourself to this girl?" Biting his lower lip Justin asked me.

"Yea I could hear your thoughts the entire class about how you want to train her," Cole said, scoffing, making me roll my eyes. He's gotta have to learn to not listen to my thoughts.

"She's my mate" Their eyes widened as they stared at me with mouth agape.

"What?!" They both yelled at the same time.

"How were you so calm around her?" Cole grabbed my arm looking worried.

"Do you know how difficult it was to stay sane when we entered the class at first? My wolf was begging to claim her, to have her, but I had to hold myself back" I sighed.

"Wow," Cole exclaimed, staring at me in awe.

"So what are you gonna do now? Tell her?" Justin questioned.

"Not now, I'll just try not to be in a room with her alone but damn it's painful watching her" I groaned rubbing my face.

"Are you going to tell Benjamin? " Cole asked curiously. I looked down at my hands and nodded my head.

"Why not? He's our alpha" I smiled, missing the presence of Diana already.

"I think it's break time, I hear the sound of spoons and forks clashing" Cole informed. We walked down the hall to the cafeteria where other students were eating.

We secured a seat close to the wall and ordered our food. My eyes scanned the whole area searching for Diana or even her friend.

"If you're looking for your mate she's right on the table behind me" Cole gestured over to the table where she sat with her friend surrounded by three other students.

Guys!

"Control yourself" Justin gripped my wrist making me turn to look at him.

"Those boys are fucking flirting with her" I growled. I stood up to make my way over to where Diana was sitting but Cole grabbed me before I could get closer to her table.

Why's he so strong?

"Zayn I know it's difficult for you to watch but you have to control yourself, you've learned self-control so what's this? I'm the one that doesn't have control yet in the pack" Cole said quietly but firmly enough.

Oh, how I wanted to rip those guys apart, limb for limb.

My hand twitched at my side itching to rip something into shreds but Cole held tighter on my wrist forcing my body back to the chair, I gritted my teeth at him knowing there was nothing I could do but let him drag me away from the cafeteria when it looked like I wasn't going to calm down anytime soon.

Slamming me against a locker hard I pushed myself away from it and looked Cole straight in the eye.

"I'm going to have to knock you out if you keep thinking of killing those guys," Cole warned.

"Stop fucking reading my thoughts!" I shouted

"Zayn takes a deep breath" Justin urged. I inhaled slowly, calming myself down. But her laugh kept echoing in my head, and knowing that those guys were the reason behind that beautiful laughter made my head almost explode.

It took everything I had not to pounce on them when I saw them talking shit over there. The urge to destroy every one of them and rip their heads out is almost unbearable.

Cole and Justin both noticed my eyes turning bright blue, my claws piercing through my flesh.

"Shit" Cole cursed, dragging me into an empty lecture hall and locking the door.

Before I could charge at them Cole threw a punch at my face knocking me out cold.

"How do we carry him out?" Justin whispered.

"We'll have to wait for him to wake up so he can walk out himself because I ain't carrying this muscle pig" Cole responded.

They waited hours until Zayn woke up cursing and holding his jaw.

"Finally you're awake" Justin huffed, crossing his arms over his chest.

"School is over, we missed the rest of the lectures" Cole informed and the realization hit me, Diana must have left.

"She hasn't left yet" Cole pointed out.

"I saw her walking towards the gate with her friends just now," Justin added.

"I'm calm now, so we can go," I said mostly telling Cole, he gave me a knowing look "I said I'm okay now" I scoffed getting up and dusting my ass before walking out of the door with them following behind me.

Students crowded the school gate, some rushing past each other while some others walked slowly with their friends. I found Diana with Kai laughing about something as they just left the gate. I rushed towards them wrapping my hand around her arm to stop her.

The moment she looked up at me I swear my heart did flips.

I want her.

My wolf howls inside of me wanting to claim her and I have no idea how I've been able to hold back. Her gaze flickered to Cole and Justin who followed behind us and then back to me again.

"Diana, do you have time? I'd like us to hang out" I spoke softly, trying to make sure my tone came off as sweet and caring.

"Um, I'm so sorry Kai and I have plans" Looking over at Kai the urge to snap her neck grew inside of me.

"Okay!!.. we'll get going now" Justin threw his hands around my neck dragging me away.

"I think Zayn likes you" Kai whispered to Diana earning a slap across the back of the head from her friend.

"Shut it" Diana whispered.

As Zayn, Cole, and Justin walked away a red Ferrari pulled up next to them making them groan.

The window rolled down revealing a blonde-haired Jake. "Hello kids, I'm here to pick you up" He beamed smiling ear to ear.

"We told you not to pick us up, we ain't kids no more" Cole huffed.

"Don't act like you didn't miss me" Jake rolled his eyes as they all entered the car.

"Zayn, I can feel how angry you are. What's wrong? You just started school today and you're already pissed" Jake Spoke smiled.

"I found my mate today"

Jake suddenly stopped the car causing Zayn to crash directly into the dashboard.

"Dude!" he whined

"You found your mate? Wow, that's great news Zayn" Jake laughed.

"Yea," Zayn nodded.

"So who is she?! I want to meet her!" Jake grinned.

"Ugh let's get home first" Cole groaned earning a glare from Jake.

Sex.

Sex was the first scent Zayn picked up from Diana immediately after he walked into the class. His blood boiled when he also picked up Kai's scent on Diana. He growled slowly at his wolf wanting to rip Kai apart. But he knew it would only hurt Diana. So he held himself back from going after Kai and tearing her limbs apart, he was beyond pissed off.

He walked out of the lecture hall trying to find some sort of calmness. He didn't realize Justin had noticed everything and went after him.

"You have to stay calm," Justin whispered.

"I am calm!" Zayn snapped angrily.

"What happened, why are you suddenly so furious?" Justin frowned, Zayn remained silent burning from the inside as he imagined Diana being intimate with someone else. His teeth clenched together as jealousy and anger filled him.

"Let's get you home" Zayn suddenly growled, throwing Justin across the hall, his eyes bright blue. The noise gained the attention of everyone in the class.

Justin grunted as he sat up, rubbing his jaw as Zayn turned around running back to the class.

He walked straight to where Diana and Kai sat. He could sense Kai tensing slightly upon seeing him approaching.

"You bitch" Zayn grabbed Kai's neck slamming her against the wall. "Are you fucking around with Diana?" He whispered. Diana screamed in fear. Her breathing hitched as the entire class stood from their seats, some filming, while some scared of approaching.

Before Zayn could lift Kai off the floor with his hands tightly around her neck, he was thrown across the room hitting his head on the wall.

Everyone gasped, staring at Cole who smiled. Kai landed on the floor coughing harshly. She looked over at Zayn as he was still laying there.

"Oh would you look at that he passed out, we need to take him to the nurse's office," Justin said carrying Zayn over his shoulder before storming out of the class with Cole following suit.

"What the fuck just happened?" A student stated.

"What were you fucking thinking going at her like that?!" Noah yelled at Zayn as he sat on the bed in silence. "Would you say something already?" Benjamin said, exhaling loudly.

"I think it's because of the scent he picked on Diana" Cole spoke up.

"What do you mean?" Lucas asked, confused.

"Well..... Y'know how I'm not able to control my senses yet, I didn't mean to but I picked up a scent of sex from her immediately I walked into the class"

"Ahh, so that's why," Benjamin said.

"For once I was happy that Cole has no control, he would have killed that girl" Justin added. Meanwhile, Zayn, his wolf, was going wild. His urge to kill Kai was overpowering, and he wanted nothing more than to tear out her throat and be done with it all.

"Calm your shit, you ain't killing anyone," Benjamin said, earning a glare from Zayn.

Mrs. Laura was going nuts about the absence of her daughter from home last night. "How could you let her stay away from home now that it isn't safe out there?" She huffed walking around the apartment as if the answer was written on the walls.

"She stayed over at Kai's place," Her husband said, shrugging.

"Stayed over at Kai's place?... Honey, there's a thing out there, eating people, tearing them apart and you let our daughter stay over at someone's house?" she exclaimed pointing at her husband.

"But she did ask for permission first. Kai's parents were also there so no need to worry" He argued back as she scoffed, crossing her arms.

"Kai's parents fucking went out of town" She rolled he eyes still dressed in her officer uniform.

"Diana is fine, she isn't home yet because she went to school from there, she'll be back today chill"

"I have to return to work, I just came home to make sure y'all are okay" She explained as she picked up her bag. "And she better be home by tonight I will not wait another second to see her in this house" She warned

"Yes ma'am." He saluted, making her roll her eyes at him.
