"Mom, I'm off to work and I will be heading back home late tonight as I am working overnight. Don't wait for me." Derek talked with his aged mother who sat on the chair, looking at his face. She gently grabbed his hands, "I'm sorry you have to juggle jobs all the time just to afford my medicine and I know my request may sound ridiculous, but can you not go to work today. I have a bad feeling about it, please don't go." His mother said with a shaky voice as she struggled to talk.
"Mom, you worry a lot. Nothing will happen to me. As you know, you gave birth to a strong and able child. Nothing can ever harm me." Derek said with a puffed chest in bid to reassure his mother.
"Okay, but remember to be careful." she said, patting his head.
"Okay, okay now stop doing that, I am not a child anymore." He said as he stood up to grab his shoes before heading out.
Derek has been the one taking care of his mother ever since his dad left with another woman claiming his mother was old and soggy. This led to his mother constantly relying on drugs because she could not take the blow.
On getting to work, Derek saw a familiar figure at the entrance, making him frown. He thought of going through the back door but later decided to approach. Avoiding it would only make him look weak.
"What are you doing here?" he asked, annoyed at the intruder's presence, "as long as I remember, this is a public place, and you can't stop people from going and coming." Angela said, flipping her hair backwards.
Derek furrowed his brows with annoyance. He and Angela had dated each other before, and he could have brought the moon down for her, even though her family, the great Donald family, disagreed with their relationship, he still did everything in his power to please her, until the day he caught her pants down with a another man in her apartment, he was so depressed that period and all she could tell him was that he was not rich enough to her standards.
"Suit yourself." Derek snorted before entering the restaurant.
When he got in, he was called by his boss to go deliver some goods, which he happily accepted because he could not stand being stared at by that irritating bitch. The thought alone irked him.
After he left on his delivery scooter, Derek noticed an upcoming trailer heading for him. He shifted from his lane to another, but the trailer followed him as he moved, and the same circle was repeated over and over again.
Derek was sure someone was after his life but before he could swerve again to the other lane, it was already too late, the trailer had already collided with him.
Derek noticed a blurry figure step out of the truck heading towards him, "In your next life stay away from what is not yours," the figure sneered at him. Derek could recognize the voice as the guy with Angela that day.
Derek sincerely regretted not staying at home like his mother said. Maybe he would not have died in such a manner. His mother, he wondered how she would react to the news, he thought, before taking a deep breath and closing his eyes. He opened his eyes again to see a strange stylish roof over his head, making him confused. This wasn't his house, nor did it look like a hospital.
Derek stood up to walk around, then headed to the bathroom, he stood at the door stupefied. Everything there was made of gold and white and was sparkling clean.
Passing the mirror, Derek paused before turning back once more, his mouth hang open in shock as he held his face feeling confused.
This is Richard's face, the idol of country A, Derek stared at the mirror wondering what he was doing with Richard's face and why his eyes were so puffy.
"You died and entered my body, idiot! I can't believe out of all bodies in this world you had to pick my handsome body, and with the way you gawked at my bathroom, I'm sure you're a poor boy. Oh my God! do you know skin care routines? My skin is too delicate not to be taken care of, go back to your body now, you piece of shit. " A voice rang inside Derek's head.
"Who are you?" Derek said with confusion, "I'm the one and only Richard, who else??" The voice said, then two and two pieced together as Derek understood it all.
What only happened in books and movies had happened to him in reality, but why was his so different? Why didn't the spirit of the previous owner vanish completely?
"You wish, I could hear your thoughts, you know. " Richard snorted rudely.
"I didn't know you were such a talkative and curser.'' Derek stated, marveled at this idol's new behavior.
"Well, you have to give the people what they want to see. That's how it works in this industry, but now that you are controlling my body, I can curse as I like. " Richard replied smugly.
"Why Is your eyes this puffy?" Derek threw another question, curiously touching Richard's face.
"Well my fiancée cheated on me with my older brother, and you expect me to be happy, they are even getting married soon, and they want me to give them my blessings, like what the hell! Dude how can I bring myself to bless those that brought me pain?'' Richard explained in a sad voice.
"Sorry, but what are their names though?" Derek asked in a daze, feeling genuinely sorry for Richard as he too had gone through the same pain, "Angela Donald and Joseph Camefolt." Richard replied, with hate in his voice.
"I think I know why we were brought together into the same body. It's because the same people had betrayed us. I was dating Angela before she cheated on me with a guy just because I couldn't afford a bag she liked for her, but I didn't expect her to be such a bitch as this." Derek explained with clenched fists, as he gritted his teeth with anger.
"So it is settled, we are getting our revenge on them." Richard exclaimed, feeling joyful that he would be finally able to get back at those who hurt him.
"I would help you on one condition," Derek stated seriously.
"What?" Song Li asked, wondering what made Derek's mood change.
"You would allow me to go to my body when this is all over, or you would leave if I am already buried." Derek answered. He knew it sounded selfish, but he had to.
"I choose whether or not I'll leave, but if you have not been buried I will go to your body. I need a break from celebrity life." Richard replied in a tired voice.
"Okay then, let's go get our revenge." Derek said, staring straight into the mirror with cold gaze.
"Welcome back, young Miss." Butler John greeted her as Diana entered the house, to which she replied with a nod.
"My precious daughter, you're back from the office, why didn't you come back yesterday? You are a girl, your body is not made of stone. I have told you several times not to overwork yourself even if the company fails. We still have enough wealth to let us start anew." Diana's mother, Donna Williams, told her immediately she entered the house.
"Mother, what do you want me to do?" Diana asked in a slightly tired voice.
"Well, the thing is that I arranged a blind date for you, you don't need to worry. He fits your preferences and is from a wealthy family abroad, so his family status matches ours." Her mother said hurriedly, hoping that Diana would at least agree to this one.
"I am not going. I have told you several times I would settle down when the time is right," Diana said calmly.
"But Diane, mum...." Her mother wanted to say before she was cut off by Diana walking away.
After Diana walked away from her, Donna saw her husband chuckling around the corner and glared at him, "it's all your fault she's like this. You handed her the company at a young age. Now she behaves like a robot without feelings because of the dirty business world of yours." She ranted with puffed cheeks, her husband left the wall he was leaning against and a handsome young man who did not seem over 30 day-old came into view.
"You look so cute when angry, but you look old too. I don't want people saying my wife is some sort of old woman." Damon Williams said while pinching her cheeks.
"how dare you call me old! just because you look younger than 50, you father and daughter are Indeed the same thing," she said grumbling.
"Exactly if I didn't quit the business world I wouldn't look this young for you, and we could make a male child to take away your precious daughter's burden." Damon said smugly before carrying her horizontally towards their bedroom, "put me down the maids are watching." Donna struggled. "I pay them so they know their limits and besides you are only testing me more by squirming about." he said before opening the door and the rest became history.
After entering into the room Diana laid on her bed in daze as she glanced at the ceiling lost in thoughts, she couldn't bare to go on any blind dates, not after what happened that day. She just couldn't stand staying with men for long without getting the urge to dismember them.
Thinking about it, she remembered that she had to go to the Donald family daughter's engagement banquet. She didn't want to go at first, but a business partner requested to meet her there, so she had no choice but to go because she was not in the mood of dissing all those fox's eyes, not to brag, but her beauty was one of a kind, she had a small face with a pointed nose and a heart shaped lips. So she had to deal with suitors of every kind, even during business meetings. Diana got a suit out of her closet as she was not interested in dressing decently for Angela's banquet.
After dressing up, she put on a touch of makeup but later decided to wipe it off, she stood up and went back to her closet and picked a dazzling dinner gown and got dressed in it.
Diana was a very vengeful person as to the fact that Angela framed her at a ball putting on her pitiful innocent face to deceive people, she wanted to make Diana look bad, so she did that, but the person in question just looked at her and walked away.
So, at this thought Diana decided that it's not that bad to out dress the main character of the party itself, so she changed and put on a provocative makeup. It was soon time for the party, and Diana walked elegantly down the flight of stairs ready to leave.
"Where are my parents?" Diana asked a maid nearby, "ma'am and sir went into their room a few hours ago." the maid said with a flushed face.
Diana rolled her eyes inwardly, knowing what that meant. Her parents are always like this, not minding the fact she was at home at all "When they're done with whatever they are doing, tell them I went to a banquet of the Donald family." Diana said before heading out and getting into the Rolls-Royce parked at the entrance of the house.
Angela paced her room nervously, she had just heard that Diana is coming to her engagement ceremony, "she would definitely cause trouble as revenge for framing her back then." She thought she couldn't cause trouble for Joseph, he was just picking up in his business. Soon after the ceremony started, Angela walked down the stairs elegantly in a dazzling red dress.
"Omg, isn't that the dress Tiger the famous designer just released?" a guest voiced out loud.
"Yeah, it is, I heard that there is only one produced." another guest chipped in.
"Wow, I'm so jealous of Angela, but after all, she is the Donald family only daughter. After all, what do we expect?" a voice said filled with envy.
Their voices were not very low, so Angela heard them, causing a smirk to dance on her face. After being showered with praises, she head towards the guests with a gentle smile looking pleasant, but soon she heard murmurs that turned her smile upside down.
"I thought there was only one of Tiger's new dress, how come Diana has it too." on hearing that Angela turned back in shock only to see Diana in the same clothes as she is but the difference is that Diana's clothes were the real ones.
Angela had thought that Diana, would wear business clothes as usual, and she was sure other than them both no one could afford the dress, so she wore the fabricated one. Seeing everyone looking at her, Angela tried to salvage the situation.
"I didn't know that the great Diana wore fakes too." Angela said full of pride. She was sure that the authenticity of the clothes could never be revealed.
"How are we sure it's her wearing the fake, and not you?" Derek butted in from nowhere.
He had arrived at the party early, so he could steal the rings or try something else to disrupt the ceremony, but embarrassing Angela seemed worthwhile.
"Are you sure I am wearing a fake and not you?" Diana asked with an uninterested look on her face, Ignoring Derek's earlier words.
"Yes, I am very sure," Angela announced with certainty in her voice.
"Let me call Tiger then, I am sure he of all people knows who he sold the dress to," Diana said coldly.
"Why are you dragging him into a petty matter like this, just admit you wore a counterfeit." Angela said nervously but the latter just ignored her and took out her phone, dialing a number that picked up almost immediately.
"Hi... Tiger, it's me Diana, I want to ask who you sold your clothes to, the red devil to." Diana asked in an authoritative voice, putting on the phone's loudspeaker.
"You, of course, why would I sell my clothes to anyone else?" Tiger asked confused, "Well, someone is saying your clothes are fake." Diana glanced at Angela with a playful smile dancing on her succulent red lips.
"Who dares to call my clothes fake? Tell me and I will make sure to ban the person from purchasing any designer clothes again." Tiger said with his voice suddenly goin
"Who dares to call my clothes an imitation?" Tiger inquired with his voice suddenly turning cold.
"She is the daughter of the Donald family, Angela." Diana stated, not sparing Angela's face a little bit, well she asked for it when she decided to throw a shade on her.
"It must be a lie, she is deliberately trying to frame me, it must be a fake she's calling all for the sake of smearing the Donald family name." Angela said in a rush as she heard murmurs of the people who were once praising her, now condemning her.
"She even dares to call me a fake, then I will show her what I can really do, sorry Diana, it is my fault for allowing an imitation to be produced, I promise it won't repeat itself again. What did you call the bitch name again?" Tiger asked still fuming with rage at the fact the dress was imitated and someone dared to call both the original and himself a fake.
"Angela Donald." Yuan Meng replied coldly, smirking at Angela, her strike back was succesful, thanks to her listening to her instincts.
"Okay, Miss Donald, I hereby ban you from wearing any high class brand again till further notice, you can carry on with your imitations, I'm sure they will suit you very well." Tiger said ruthlessly, knowing that alone would ruin any pampered upper class lady, who doesn't love wearing good things?
Tears gathered in Angela's eyes ,her engagement ceremony is ruined all because of Diana, but even if all she wanted to do now was to strangle Diana, Angela still had to keep up with her victim act to gain everyone sympathy, but before Angela could start play her pity card she heard a voice from above her.
"Woah, what a nice slap on the face! hope your face is not too swollen sister in law." Angela looked up to see a smiling Richard looking down at her, causing her eyes to sting more, Angela wished nothing more than to wipe the stupid grin of his face.
Diana just glanced at the scene for second before focusing on her call with Tiger.
"I'm sorry for not being careful with your design Master, and also for allowing it to get imitated." he pleaded for the umpteenth time causing Diana to roll her eyes and massage her forehead, the loud speaker had been switched off so no one could hear what they were saying if not their jaws would be on the ground at the new discovery.
Not being able to take the consistent pleading anymore, Diana hung the phone up in annoyance and then turned again to see Angela in the arms of her fiancé crying she was bullied, he patted her back slowly comforting her while glaring at the guy who spoke earlier.
Nonchalantly, Diana sashayed to meet them where they stood, with her eyes slowly landing on Angela.
Joseph who seemed to be comforting Angela earlier stiffened as his breath hitched when he saw Diana up close.
Diana and Angela were basically wearing the same thing but Diana looked more graceful than Angela, lost in Diana's beauty, Joseph was snapped back to reality after meeting the jealous gaze of Angela, gathering himself back together, he cleared his throat, ready to speak.
"Miss Diane, I know that my fiancée did a bad thing but I don't think it's proper for you to get her banned from buying things she likes, I'm sure Miss Diane wouldn't want that for herself right." Joseph said, trying to be rational and sound mature.
But Diana glanced at him briefly like he is a piece of talking garbage before turning to sit at the table that was prepared for her showing no intention to respond or leave, stunned for a second, Joseph regained his composure and told the guests to enjoy the party.
Angela fumed as she stood at the corner watching all her guests fawn over Diana like it was a banquet organized for her, she even had to change her clothes to another, since it was already known to everyone that it was imitation, this is the greatest humilation Angela has faced in all her life.
"Enjoying the party?" a voice suddenly sounded at Angela's back, she turned and saw Richard's annoying face again.
After seeing the way Angela was humiliated in her own party, Derek couldn't resist the urge of coming to taunt her, it is a great feeling seeing one's enemy suffer.
"Richard, didn't you say you weren't coming to the ceremony, what brought you here?" Angela asked raising her chin upwards, she would definitely not let this person see he was getting to her.
"Well, I changed my mind, and i'm glad I came or I would have missed such a great show." Derek said adding salt to injury.
"Don't be so smug about it, I still dumped you and I'm sure you can't find someone better than me." Angela sneered, not trying to keep on her mask of pretense any longer since she knew no one was watching. "I can't believe I fell for someone as scheming as you ." Derek stated with disgust both for himself and for Richard.
The party ended on a sour note for Angela as her parents were mad at her for creating enemies with the Queen of the business world, while Joseph was mad at her because he had a contract which he had submitted to the Williams Enterprise, now he had no opportunity of winning the contract, and there was Richard who was feeling giddy about her party outcome.
After the party Derek drove to the hospital that was close to the place of his accident or in other words, his murder, as he thought maybe he might have been admitted there.
On getting there, Derek met his dear mother crying her eyes out to the doctor, who shoved her away, on an impulse he ran to catch her before glaring at the doctor with the rim of his eyes going red "how dare you treat my...." Derek snapped back to his senses and realized what he was about to say, "Dude don't forget your new identity." Richard reminded him, gathering himself together, Derek rephrased his words, glaring at the doctor.
"How dare you push an elderly woman in that manner, is this how you treat all your patients?!!" He yelled at the doctor angrily.
At first the doctor was shocked to see the Nation's idol in his front then he scratched his head guiltily before managing to talk, "Her son was admitted to this hospital few hours ago and has been declared brain dead, we wanted to remove his life support machine since she had no money to pay and she threw a tantrum."
Derek looked at the doctor coldly making him straighten his back unconsciously, "I would pay for it and everything, also move her son to a VIP room." He ordered in a stern manner, causing the doctor's face to brighten as he scurried off to do as he was told.
"I promise to take care of you till your son wakes up." Derek said calmly to his mother, how much has he longed to see her.
"Why are you doing this?" His mother asked with her face turning cold, as she snatched her hands away from him, with a strenght Derek never knew she had.
Derek was shocked since this is the first time he saw his mother react like this, "I'm his school mate, we were very close friends before we lost contact till I saw the news, so I decided to help out." Derek quickly made up a lie to put off her suspicions.
"Thank you." She said with her face softening a bit, "you can leave now." She added, turning away from him.
Derek wanted to say something but closed his mouth back before nodding and taking his leave, still confused at his mother's harsh behavior.
