In the Brown's Mansion.

Everyone was in a festive mood. Because today, the eldest daughter of the Brown's family, Ashley, was finally getting married to her beloved fiance, Henry Thompson.

The reflection in the mirror showed her finely carved features. She was like a masterpiece drawn by God on a canvas.

She was wearing a strapless wedding dress that enhanced her collarbones and made them more eye-catching.

The carefully tailored wedding dress hugged her slender figure tightly. And its beautiful, full-length ruffles made the twenty-year-old Ashley to look more feminine.

Ashley decided to marry Henry, the man she has been betrothed to since she was 18 years. Although she had drunk a lot at her bridal shower last night, she still got up early to freshen up not to present a drunken bride to everyone and also to uphold the prestige of her family.

The day was breaking, and the sky was just turning bright outside as the sun was beginning to rise slowly from the east.

"Miss Ashley, everything is ready now. It's still early. Why don't you rest for a while? We will come back for your makeup in two hours, " suggested the staff who was helping her dress up with a smile.

"Alright" Ashley looked at the dark circles under her eyes in the mirror and nodded.

She still felt a little groggy because she drank a lot last night. So she picked up the glass on the table and drank two mouthfuls of water.

When the staff left, a maid came in with a tray containing another cup of water with aspirin and put it in front of Ashley.

She is always terrified of pills as she hate taking them and chuckled to herself "you can do it". She took the pills and gulped down two mouthfuls of it.

After finishing taking the drug, she felt sleepy. She just sat on the sofa and closed her eyes.

A few minutes later, the door of her room was gently pushed open, and someone came in very quietly.

Ashley didn't fall asleep but the person that came in, thought she was sleeping. She secretly half-opened her eyes and glanced around. She found out that the person who came in was Lucia her half- sister.

Ashley's stepmother was the home wrecker in her parents' marriage which caused the painful death of her mom, so she despised her stepmother and Lucia. She had never bothered to get along with them at all.

So she wondered what Lucia was doing in her room right now. Lucia took a quick glance at the empty tray. Her mouth curved into a wicked smile as she lowered her head to look at Ashley

"You foolish bitch, do you really think you can marry Henry?". Her mouth curved into a wicked smile as she lowered her head to look at Ashley. "I am the real daughter of the head of the Browns. You will never become the bright and shinning flower of the Brown family" she let out a low snort

"It would have been better if you end up like your stupid mother" she said with an evil grin on her face

Ashley tighten her grip on her cloth as she heard Lucia's statement

"You will never know what the drug you took was and what I have in stock for you. But one thing I'm sure of is that you enjoy your wedding night in advance" She then took out her phone, and dialed a number.

"Are the two street ruffians I have arranged especially for my sister ready? Tell them to come here now." Ashley opened her eyes wide in shock upon hearing what Lucia had said. She knew that Lucia had never liked her.

But she didn't expect that her to be this vicious. It seemed that Lucia wanted to drug her and found someone to rape her. Such a wicked woman!

Ashley stood up and sneered. Lucia heard some movements, so she turned around. Seeing that Ashley was already sanding in front of her, she took a few steps back. "You... you are not asleep?" She stammered

"Lucia Brown, it must have been very hard on you to pretend to be a good daughter for a long time. Do you feel comfortable now that you have finally taken off your mask?" Ashley said with a hint of mockery in her cold eyes as she looked like someone about to strangulate Lucia.

"Sister, I don't understand what you're saying, what you mean" Lucia face turned deathly pale. She was so scared to be exposed that her nails dug into her palms, and she couldn't dare to meet Ashley's eyes.

Ashley then grabbed Lucia's Wrist. She was taller than Lucia, so she blocked the way, not giving Lucia a chance to run away.

Ashley long nails were pressing deeply into Lucia hands, but now is not the time to sympathize

"What did I hear you saying on the phone just now". Ashley said to Lucia's hearing

"Sister, I was not saying anything". She replied her aggravated like someone bearing the weight of the world on her shoulders

"Do you want me to tear pitiful mask off your wicked face" Ashley told her step sister

Lucia wringgled her hand out of Ashley's hold and burst into a round of laughter

"And so, you heard what I said. Do you think you are the pride of the Browns or you are also worth the praises"

"No, I'm also a daughter of the Browns. I will not allow you to step all over me again " She took a break to study Ashley's facial expressions but Ashley had an expression of shock and hatred.

She sneered and then continued "Your time has elapsed as the glorious daughter of the Brown family and mine starts today. Your reputation would go down the drain latest tonight through my wonderful wedding gift to you"

She burst into another round of laughter but this time around, her face looks hideous like that of a witch cackling.

Ashley used her other hand to pinch Lucia's chin, forcing her to open her mouth wide. There was a rare coldness in Ashley's lazy voice when she said, "No matter what you say this drug is, it's yours now!

She then let go of Lucia's wrist, picked up the cup of water that contains the already dissolved aspirin, and poured it into Lucia's mouth.

Lucia struggled desperately, shaking her head. But she couldn't break free from Ashley's grip, so she had no other choice but to let Ashley shove the content in the cup into her mouth indiscriminately.

"I didn't... Ashley... You... Let go of me!" Lucia was choking and coughing nonstop.

With a pitiful look on her face, she shook her head vigorously. The door suddenly opened, and a handsome man strode in.

Seeing the scene, he immediately grabbed Ashley's wrist and pulled her away from Lucia.

He was utterly surprised. "Ashley, what is this that you are doing?"

"Henry, you're just in time. This bitch here changed the aspirin to some drug sold in the black market. She has also asked some bodyguards to rape me.

Good thing I've seen through her soon. Now, I am letting her drink up the water that contains the remaining drug and allowing her to have a taste of her own medicine, " Ashley replied calmly. A trace of contempt was visible in her beautiful eyes.

The gentle look on Henry's face changed when he heard what Ashley said. "Is that true?"

Lucia shook her head pitifully. "No, it isn't. How can I do such a thing against my sister? Ashley, I know that you don't like me, and I can tolerate that. But how can you frame such a vicious thing against me? Mr. Thompson, I really didn't do that..."

Looking at her pitiful face, Henry felt a little sorry for Lucia. He then turned to Ashley and said, "Ashley, you are already the precious daughter of the head of the Brown family. No one can take that position from you. Why do you have to do this to Lucia, your younger sister?"

Henry's words sounded so harsh in Ashley's ears, and she also felt uneasy upon hearing him calling her half-sister fondly. When did they become so close?

"Are you suspecting that I am deliberately framing her?" she asked, looking at Henry in disbelief.

"It's okay for you to be willful at times. But you have to know that there are things you can't just joke about, " Henry said to Ashley.

He then looked at Lucia with pity in his eyes and added, "Lucia has always put up with you. But enough is enough"

Ashley stared at Henry's handsome face. Seeing his self-righteous look, she felt so ridiculous.

She then asked in a sarcastic tone, "You believe her instead of me. I thought I was your fiancee?" Henry turned his face sideways, his fists clenching in his pockets. He didn't answer her question.

"What is going on here? Why are you fighting again?" Mark, Ashley's father, and his wife, Amelia, rushed into the room together.

Lucia immediately threw herself into Amelia's arms and cried aggrievedly, "Mom, I really didn't drug Ashley. I also did not find someone to rape her. How could I do such a thing to her?"

The expression on Amelia's face slightly changed. "Ashley, there may be some sort of misunderstanding here, right?"

"I've heard everything she said with my own ears. She even called someone to tell the bodyguards to come to my room. How can it be a misunderstanding? Ashley asked and said.

Lucia cried bitterly. "How can I do such a heartless thing and ruin your life? Doing such a thing will also ruin my own life. Do you think I am not afraid of being in jail?"

The expression on Amelia's face slightly changed. "Ashley, there may be some sort of misunderstanding here, right?"

She was scared because she knows that her daughter is gullible and she is capable of doing what Ashley accused her of. She also know that Ashley hates her for taking over her mother's space and bring in n illegitimate daughter to compete with her for her father's love and affection.

Amelia's voice was full of pain when she said, "Hubby, I believe that Lucia will never do such a thing. But since it seems that we can't reconcile two girls. Now, it has come to this what should we do"

Lucia tried to make use of the situation and leaned towards Mark and called out to him pitifully "Father, what have I done to sister to deserve all these. I have already shown her love like a very good younger sister"

"Leave her alone let her be. I've tried all my best to make the sisters love themselves but it's seems Ashley is the bitter one, she is not ready to let go" Mark said

"Hubby, she has always thought since her mother got wind of our affair which eventually led to her death that I was the killer. But she does not know that we already met before you married her mother" Amelia said with tears in her eyes

"It's okay, she doesn't need to know our history together" Mark replied her consoling her

Amelia trying to wipe her tears hugging her daughter "Or maybe it was her mother that instigated her against me and my daughter. But we were not at fault because we were innocent, she was the one that came in between us, our relationship Mark!"

To Ashley, it was as if the whole family was acting out a script already written. It's was so shameful that it stung her especially the part where her mother was mentioned.

She felt sorry for her because the thought that her mother was in a marriage with a man who was not hers to begin with brought tears to her eyes

While all these were going on, Henry stood by the wall watching them with a rigid face.

Mark tried to pacify Amelia and Lucia, eyeing Ashley by the side. He then waved his big hand to a servant nearby and ordered, "Call the family doctor over to check what type of drug this is" with the thought to prove Lucia innocent

He knew that his two daughters had never gotten along. Ashley, the daughter of his first wife, was the spoiled one, while Lucia, the daughter of his second wife, was more tolerant. Only with solid evidence could they solve this conflict.

The family doctor rushed over with some of his assistants thinking it was an emergency that needed rapt attention. But on arrival he was told to certain whether the pill is aspirin or some drug gotten from the black market.

"Lucia, give me your phone, " Mark added.

"Ashley knocked it to the ground! I haven't touched it until now, Lucia cried pitifully.

Mark picked up the phone from the ground and opened the call log. It showed that a call had been made around ten minutes ago, and the time matched what Ashley had claimed.

Ashley took a sideways glance at the call log. She wanted to see how Lucia would deny the accusations laid in front of her with solid evidence.

Mark dialed the unknown number that the call had been made to. Soon, an automated voice said, "Please press 1 for balance inquiries, and press 2 for the payment..."

Ashley's pretty face darkened. How could this be? Just now, Ashley had called someone right in front of her eyes and asked some bodyguards to come over to rape her, but she had snatched the phone away before Lucia could finish her words. Therefore, it was impossible for the call log to have been tampered with.

However, the call log clearly proved that the call had been made last to the telecommunications company.

Everyone looked at Ashley with suspicion and disappointment.

Lucia cried bitterly, as if she had suffered a great grievance. Ashley clenched her fists tightly. How could it be? Something didn't add up.

Fortunately, the family doctor could be trusted, so she turned to him and asked, "Doctor Smith, what kind of drug is it?"

"Miss Ashley, there is nothing wrong with the drug. The drug is aspirin not some black market drug, " Doctor Smith replied softly.

"But I felt strange when I took it. And Lucia even admitted that she drugged it.." Back then, Lucia had spoken in such a cold tone that the memory was clearly in Ashley's mind.

"Ashley, I told you, I've never wanted to hurt you" Lucia said still looking aggrieved, and immediately gaining sympathy from everyone who saw her.

Henry also looked at her gently to comfort her.Compared with Ashley who was poised and elegant even in this situation, Lucia looked pitiful.

Finally, an idea flashed through Ashley's mind.She suddenly understood everything! From the beginning, there had been no drug in the soup. Lucia had pretended to make that phone call.

She had orchestrated the whole situation to trick Ashley into accusing her, so that when the truth was revealed, Ashley would be unable to defend herself, and would lose everyone's trust.

Turning around to look at her father, Ashley explained anxiously, "Dad, I know what's going on. Lucia did all this on purpose to..." Before Ashley could finish, March slapped her across the face.

Everyone was slightly shocked by the slap. The atmosphere turned awkward and uncomfortable. Before Ashley could finish, Mark slapped her across the face.

Lucia, who was standing behind Mark, raised her chin and flashed a triumphant smile at Ashley. However, Ashley was not in the mood to look Lucia. She covered her burning cheek and looked at her father in disbelief.

"Dad, you slapped me. Is it because of your shameless mistress and your illegitimate daughter that usurp my mom out of this house"

"I had always thought that you feel guilty because of what happened to my mom because I'm your daughter and your blood, the product of your loveless marriage and that's why you always treat me well"

"But no, that's not the case. You've never for once loved me because I'm my mother's daughter ans you never loved my mother. "

"You only do that just to satisfy your conscience and your selfish ego. I hope you are satisfied and now that I've exhausted all your patience for you. You're tired of me.

Ashley said at once all in a go and scoffed. The tears threatened to fall but she was determined not to cry at all. She does not want to us them the impression that they have completely humiliated her

Lucia on the other side trying to be the better one said; "Ashley, Father does not mean it. He is just tired of your tantrums and whims; and he also wants us to get along. He loves you more than he loves me, you're his first daughter, his pride"

Ashley resorted "How am I sure that I'm the eldest daughter since your mother of a mistress already said she has been with my father way before he met my mother"

"And never will I get along with you. Over my dead body" she added

Color drained from Lucia face when she heard Ashley's statement. She hated when people point accusing fingers at her and mother concerning what happened to Ashley's mother.

It was as if she was thrown into a pool of ice water. She tried to hold Ashley's hands to stabilize herself but Ashley flung her hands away which made her staggered backwards.

If not for Henry that helped to hold her, she would have fallen to the group.

Amelia quickly rushed to her weak daughter and said to Mark look at what she did to my daughter, would you say anything

"Mom no, sister did not do anything. It was because I was not balanced that why I almost fell" Lucia tried to defend Ashley

"See you, you're always defending her but yet she did not reciprocate your love. Poor you" Amelia said to her daughter

Mark was provoked by Ashley's actions and her words gave her another stinging slap
