Chapter 1 The Perfect Plan

Keith stood in the kitchen, sunlight streaming through the window as he whisked eggs for breakfast. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, and he could hear the faint sound of Danny's laughter coming from the living room. It was their second wedding anniversary, a day they both wanted to make special.

As Keith plated the food, he reflected on how quickly time had flown. It felt like just yesterday when they exchanged vows under the twinkling lights of their backyard. They had faced challenges together, but every moment had only strengthened their bond.

"Breakfast is ready!" Keith called, setting the table with care. Danny walked in, his eyes lighting up at the sight of the spread.

"Wow, you went all out!" Danny said, taking a seat. His excitement was infectious, and Keith couldn't help but smile.

"I wanted today to be special," Keith replied, pouring coffee into two mugs. "So, any ideas for how we should celebrate?"

Danny took a sip of his coffee, pondering. "We could revisit our favorite spots in the city-maybe the park where we had our first date? Or we could try that new restaurant downtown."

Keith considered the options. "Those sound great, but I was thinking we could do something a little more memorable. Maybe a weekend getaway?"

Danny's eyes widened with intrigue. "A getaway? That sounds amazing! Where do you have in mind?"

"I was thinking the cabin by the lake," Keith suggested, his voice full of enthusiasm. "It's secluded, and we can spend some quality time together. Just us and nature."

Danny grinned. "I love that idea! We could hike, fish, or just relax by the fire. It'll be the perfect escape."

They spent the next hour planning their trip, flipping through old photos of their previous adventures together. Laughter echoed as they reminisced about mishaps and joyful moments. The anticipation of their anniversary getaway filled the room with excitement.

After finishing breakfast, they sat together on the couch, creating a list of things to pack. "Don't forget the marshmallows for roasting," Danny said with a playful nudge.

"And your favorite blanket," Keith added, already imagining cozy evenings under the stars.

As they continued to plan, a sense of gratitude washed over Keith. They had built a life filled with love and adventure, and this anniversary was a chance to celebrate that journey.

"Here's to making more memories," Keith said, raising his coffee mug.

"Cheers to us," Danny replied, clinking his mug against Keith's, his smile bright and genuine.

With their plans set, the two felt a renewed sense of excitement for what lay ahead. Little did they know, this anniversary would be unlike any other, filled with unexpected twists and unforgettable moments.

Chapter 2 The Storm

The soft glow of candlelight flickered around the dining table as Danny and Keith enjoyed their anniversary dinner, laughter filling the air. Just as Danny took a bite of his favorite dish, his phone buzzed on the table, breaking the moment.

"Hang on, let me check that," he said, wiping his mouth and reaching for the device. He expected a message from a friend or maybe a funny meme. Instead, his expression shifted from casual curiosity to shock.

"What is it?" Keith asked, sensing the sudden change.

Danny's hands trembled slightly as he read the message again, his heart pounding. "It's... it's work. One of the buildings I'm managing... it collapsed." His voice barely rose above a whisper, and he felt the weight of the world pressing down on him.

Keith's expression turned serious. "What? Are there casualties?"

"I don't know," Danny replied, panic creeping into his voice. "And to make it worse, the boat bringing the lifts for the project... it sank. They're saying there might be people on board!". This is a very terrible one, what are we going to do Keith said

The news felt like a punch to the gut. Danny's mind raced through the implications-what this meant for the project, for his team, and for the countless lives involved. He pushed back from the table, adrenaline surging through him.

"Danny, wait-" Keith started, but Danny was already moving.

"I need to call my team," he said, urgency in every syllable. He hurried into the living room, his mind a whirlpool of fear and frustration. The comfortable evening, they had planned seemed to dissolve into chaos.

Keith followed; concern etched on his face. "Are you sure you want to handle this now? Maybe you should-"

"No!" Danny interrupted, his voice sharper than he intended. "I can't just sit here. I have to know what's happening. I need to make sure everyone is safe."

He dialed the office number, his fingers shaking as he waited for someone to pick up. The phone rang endlessly, amplifying his growing anxiety. Every second felt like an eternity.

"Come on, come on," he muttered, pacing the room.

Finally, a voice answered, and Danny felt a mixture of relief and dread. "Danny! Thank God you called. We're trying to get a handle on the situation, but it's bad."

"What do you mean?" Danny pressed, barely able to contain the tremor in his voice.

"The building... it was under construction. We're still assessing the damage, but some workers were inside at the time. As for the boat, we're waiting for reports from the coast guard. It doesn't look good."

Danny's stomach dropped. The weight of responsibility crashed over him like a wave. "Get me a list of everyone who was on-site. I need to know who was there and who might be missing."

"Right away," the voice on the other end responded.

Danny hung up and leaned against the wall, the air feeling thick and heavy. He ran a hand through his hair, trying to steady his racing thoughts.

Keith stepped closer, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder. "Danny, we'll get through this. You're not alone."

But Danny felt anything but strong. "What if I lose someone? What if this is my fault?"

"Stop," Keith said firmly. "You can't think like that. Accidents happen, and you need to focus on what you can control right now."

Danny swallowed hard, taking a deep breath. "You're right. I just... I didn't expect this tonight."

Keith squeezed his shoulder, grounding him. "We'll figure it out together. Just keep me in the loop, okay?"

Danny nodded, grateful for Keith's unwavering support. "Thanks, love. I'll try to hold it together."

As he paced back and forth, Danny's thoughts raced. The laughter from their earlier dinner felt like a distant memory. All that mattered now was ensuring the safety of his team and dealing with the aftermath of a tragedy that had begun to unfold just moments ago.

The storm had arrived, and Danny had to navigate the turbulent waters ahead. He couldn't sleep look like everything is going to collapse, and he started wondering how he will survive the causality.

As month pass, Danny attitude started changing at home, he doesn't come home has usual, the affection and the communication started depreciating.

Keith tried as much as could, to get her husband in control but all effort was proof abortive. Keith Though of finding a better way to put everything in place, since he has been having some though time at work, he thought of thinking of a nice way to surprised him.

Chapter 3 Unexpected Encounters

Keith had been worried since Danny's incident at work. The shadows that loomed over Danny were palpable, and he felt the urge to check in on his husband. Today, he decided to surprise Danny with a visit, hoping to lift his spirits. She made some delicious meal to surprise him for lunch, just to make the atmosphere spicier and more loveable.

As Keith approached the office building, he felt a mixture of excitement and apprehension. The lobby was bustling with employees, but he quickly found the elevator that led to Danny's floor. The soft ding of the elevator doors opening brought him face-to-face with the office's open layout, where he could see employees at their desks, engaged in their tasks.

Walking towards Danny's cubicle, Keith's heart raced. He spotted Faith, the secretary, chatting animatedly with another coworker. There was something about her demeanor that set off alarm bells in Keith's mind. She laughed too loudly, her gestures too animated. As he drew closer, he could overhear snippets of their conversation.

"Did you see the way he handled that?" Faith said, her tone slightly mocking. "I mean, really? Who does that?"

Keith felt a pang of discomfort. He was about to turn away when Danny stepped out of his office, a weary smile breaking his solemn expression upon seeing Keith. But before he could reach Danny, Faith approached him, a glint of mischief in her eyes.

"Hi there! You must be Keith," she chirped, extending a hand. "Danny talks about you all the time."

Keith shook her hand, forcing a smile. "Nice to meet you, Faith. I was just dropping by to see how Danny's doing."

"Oh, he's managing," Faith replied, her smile not quite reaching her eyes. "You know how it is-some days are just harder than others." She glanced back at Danny, who was now walking toward them, a look of confusion on his face.

"Everything okay?" Danny asked, his brow furrowed with concern as he noticed the exchange.

"Just getting to know your lovely secretary," Keith replied, trying to keep his tone light.

Faith interjected, "Oh, I was just telling Keith how busy you've been. But I'm sure you'll bounce back soon! You always do."

Danny's expression darkened slightly, and he turned to Keith. "Let's talk in my office?"

As they moved away from Faith, Keith couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. He glanced back to see Faith watching them, her expression unreadable. Once inside Danny's office, the door clicked shut behind them.

"Is everything alright?" Danny asked, his voice low.

"Honestly? I'm not sure. Faith seems... different. I don't like the way she was talking about you," Keith admitted, his concern evident.

Danny sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Yeah, things have been a bit tense. I've been dealing with a lot, and I don't want to burden you with it."

Keith stepped closer, his resolve strengthening. "You're not a burden, Danny. We're in this together. But if something's happening here-if Faith is crossing lines or if there's more going on than you're telling me-I need to know."

Danny looked down, a flicker of uncertainty passing over his face. "I'll handle it. I promise. But I appreciate you coming here. It means a lot."

Just as the tension between them began to ease, the door swung open unexpectedly. Faith stood there, her expression an unsettling mix of surprise and something else-perhaps annoyance.

"Sorry to interrupt, but Danny, you have that meeting in ten," she said, her voice almost too sweet.

"Thanks, Faith," Danny replied, the tension returning as she stepped back, allowing him to usher Keith to the door.

As Keith left the office, he couldn't shake the feeling that this was only the beginning of a much larger problem. The surprise visit, meant to uplift, had instead unveiled a troubling dynamic he couldn't ignore.

Keith went home alone, having that feeling that everything will get better soon and expecting to see is lovely husband doing well.
