My Wife, The Monster

Author: : Landslide
Genre: Romance
My seven-year-old daughter, Lily, just died from leukemia. Grief consumed me, but my wife, Vicky, told me it was the will of fate-the experimental Swiss treatment simply failed. We buried our sweet girl. But then, hours later, I overheard Vicky' s voice, surprisingly light, from her study. She was on a video call, laughing with her best friend, Chloe. "He' s back, Chloe! Julian! His big project in Dubai went bust." Vicky giggled, then scoffed, "Honestly, Lily' s illness was such a drain. Julian doesn' t need to know I had a child, especially one so sick." Then came the words that ripped my world apart: "I found a clinic in Switzerland, very discreet. Euthanasia." My heart, already shattered, was pulverized. Vicky had killed our daughter. And now, with Lily barely cold in her grave, Vicky was parading Julian, her old flame, through our home, mocking my life' s work, and quickly erasing Lily' s every trace. She painted me as an unstable, grieving fool. She vowed to destroy me, to ensure I got nothing. How could the woman I loved, the mother of my child, be such a monster? How could I have been so blind? But the pain wasn't just mine; it was Lily' s, a horrific injustice. I wouldn't let them erase her. I would fight back, for Lily' s legacy, for the truth, and green the world with the "Oasis System" she loved, whether Vicky and Julian liked it or not.

Introduction

My seven-year-old daughter, Lily, just died from leukemia.

Grief consumed me, but my wife, Vicky, told me it was the will of fate-the experimental Swiss treatment simply failed.

We buried our sweet girl.

But then, hours later, I overheard Vicky' s voice, surprisingly light, from her study.

She was on a video call, laughing with her best friend, Chloe.

"He' s back, Chloe! Julian! His big project in Dubai went bust."

Vicky giggled, then scoffed, "Honestly, Lily' s illness was such a drain. Julian doesn' t need to know I had a child, especially one so sick."

Then came the words that ripped my world apart: "I found a clinic in Switzerland, very discreet. Euthanasia."

My heart, already shattered, was pulverized.

Chapter 1

The small, white casket felt too light.

Ethan Hayes stood numbly as they lowered it into the Seattle earth, a persistent drizzle matching the cold dread in his chest. Lily. His Lily. Seven years old.

Friends murmured condolences, their faces blurred by his unshed tears.

"Vicky must be shattered, too devastated to come."

He nodded, a hollow gesture, Vicky, his wife, was indeed absent.

He clutched a small, worn teddy bear, Lily' s favorite, its fur matted with her touch.

Later, the silence of their upscale home was a crushing weight.

He had to sort Lily' s things, a task he couldn't bear but couldn't avoid.

As he approached her room, he heard Vicky' s voice from her study, surprisingly animated.

A video call.

"He' s back, Chloe! Julian! His big project in Dubai went bust, poor thing."

Vicky sounded almost giddy.

"He needed some serious cheering up, so I met him."

Chloe Davis, Vicky' s supposed best friend, her voice hesitant through the laptop speaker.

"Vicky, today of all days? With Lily' s funeral... That' s incredibly harsh on Ethan."

Vicky scoffed, a sound that scraped Ethan raw.

"Ethan? Honestly. I'm the one who gave him this lifestyle."

Her voice dropped, conspiratorial.

"Besides, Lily... her illness was such a drain. And Julian doesn' t need to know I had a child, especially one who was so sick."

A pause.

"I found a clinic in Switzerland, very discreet. Euthanasia."

Ethan froze, his hand on Lily's doorknob. The words didn't make sense.

"It was a mercy, really," Vicky continued, her tone light, almost casual. "She was suffering so much with that leukemia."

Euthanasia.

The word slammed into him.

Vicky had told him it was an exclusive Swiss clinic, a revolutionary, experimental treatment, their last hope for Lily' s aggressive leukemia.

She had arranged everything, insisting his presence would complicate "sensitive medical protocols" and visa paperwork.

He'd fought her on it, desperate to be with Lily, but Vicky had been immovable, citing complex Sterling Corp. connections making it possible.

Then, days later, the hysterical call, Lily had passed from sudden complications, before the miracle treatment could even begin.

He remembered Lily' s small hand in his, her voice weak but brave before Vicky took her away.

"Don't be scared, Daddy."

She was only seven.

Chloe' s shocked voice crackled from the study.

"Euthanasia? Vicky, does Ethan know the truth? You told everyone it was for a new treatment!"

Vicky' s reply was cold, clipped.

"She was terminal, Chloe. It was just speeding up the inevitable. And cleaner this way. Julian doesn't need that kind of baggage in his life, or mine."

Ethan stumbled back, a choked sound escaping him.

Vicky had killed their daughter.

His mind reeled, the expensive carpet suddenly unsteady beneath his feet.

He remembered Vicky' s dismissiveness towards him, his sustainable urban farming project, "The Oasis System," something she' d initially championed to bolster Sterling Corp.'s image but now openly mocked.

He' d stayed for Lily, endured the cold marriage, the constant belittling, all for Lily.

"He' s just a farmer, really," he' d overheard Vicky telling her society friends once, "Good for a photo op with his little green toys, but hardly Sterling material."

He had poured all his love, all his hope, into Lily.

And Vicky... Vicky had seen their child' s suffering as an inconvenience, an obstacle.

Chapter 2

Ethan didn't confront Vicky immediately.

The horror was too vast, a black ocean threatening to drown him.

He retreated to Lily' s room, the scent of her faint, a mix of baby powder and the antiseptic smell of her illness.

He sat on her small bed, the teddy bear still in his grip.

Vicky' s voice, her casual cruelty, echoed in his mind.

"Julian
