Chapter 1 The accident

Malinda POV.

"We have to leave Malinda, come with me," Russeli whispered to me, as he held my hands.

It was late at night and we were in a big mansion, a mansion owned by my boss, the man I love was right beside me in the room that has only a thin window with the moonlight coming through.

"No Russeli, I can't go with you." I protest, I know running away was not the right thing, it doesn't always end well for me, this was something I was sure of and I felt uneasy even if this was the only way I could be with him.

"Trust me, Malinda." His blue eyes were staring right at mine, his eyes held the emotion that I couldn't explain. "Please, we have to leave before the guards and my father find us."

He was right, we had to leave, we had to hurry, but still, how far can we go before they discover us? I was already in tears as I shook my head profusely.

"Russeli, though we love each other, I can't leave with you, please understand, I am just an orphan and...and." My lips quiver, all this was my fault. "I can't fend for myself, that's why I am working here as a maid."

Russeli could see my tears and I know it breaks his heart, he held my shoulder and made me look up at him. "I don't like how you and I can't be together, I hate to keep our relationship a secret, I hate that my father rejected you, I can't bear to see you hurt like this."

"Come with me, we can flee, we can go far away, to a place where we are free to do whatever we want, a place where we can live together and be a couple." He held my hands and gave a gentle squeeze. "A place where we don't have to be afraid, Malinda."

"Russelli.." I looked into his eyes, even if my vision was blurred with tears, was this the right thing to do? The question echoed in my head.

"Trust me.." I heard his voice again and a part of me wants to stay back, but the part of me who loves the man and will go miles away with me was stronger.

"Okay." I nodded and he pulled me into a tight hug and kissed my forehead. "Thank you, thank you." He said with joy in his voice, the tune of his voice was so happy that it seemed like I had just accepted a marriage proposal.

"We have to leave and we have to leave now." He told me and held my hands in a tight grip. "Let's go."

We both ran out of the room, surprisingly the guards that were standing there didn't notice us, it all happened quickly and we left the mansion.

Russeli opened the car door and we both got in, but not unnoticed, a guard had spotted us and raised an alarm. Russeli started the car In haste and stepped on it, speeding off past the gate before they could close it.

Soon we were on the highway, Russeli still driving with speed, I looked at the side mirror and I could see some cars behind us, following ours with the same speed.

This was a car chase, one of those deadly ones I do see on TV. Tears pool in my eyes as I looked at Russelli. "What do we do, they are after us."

Everything that was happening was making me sad, why does love have to be this way?

"We would be out of sight very soon," Russeli assured me and accelerated. He held my hands with his free hands, while the other was at the steering wheel.

His hands were warm, giving me comfort within my soul. "I love you, Malinda." He turns his eyes to look at me. "And I will protect you."

I looked at his handsome face, he was the most handsome man I had ever laid eyes on, through luck he had come across my path.

"I love you, Russel," I said softly and he looked at me with the cutest smile on his handsome face, at this moment it felt so perfect like there was peace around us and no car chase, just us enjoying a joyful ride, I flashed him a smile too.

But all hell broke loose when we turned to face the road, a big truck came crashing on our car and glass shattered as our car flew in the air like we were in a spin ball.

The first land of the car, then the second and the third it stills, pieces of glass with blood everywhere, I looked at Russell and his eyes were on me.

We were both choking on our blood as we reached our hands to touch each other, but to no avail, before my eyes, Russeli closed his eyes and soon after mine did, then blackout!

Chapter 2 New maid

Three months ago.

Malinda POV.

My name is Malinda Kristen, I am an orphan, I lost my parents at the age of six in a car accident, and I was sent to an orphanage home since I had no other relative to take care of me.

When I turned twenty years old, I knew I had to leave the orphanage home in search of a job. I needed a job so that I could assist the children in the orphanage home who had become my sisters and brother.

Luckily, I found a job as a maid at a very wealthy man's mansion, I did not qualify whatsoever to find a proper job, so I decided to work here since the pay was worth it.

My duty was to serve my boss his tea, do some laundry and a few other duties. It wasn't so stressful since I did all this when I lived at the orphanage.

Today I was doing my normal duty, I was serving Mr Gilbert in his study room when the door fling open. I lifted my eyes to see who it was since I knew that no one was allowed in here and there was no one in this mansion apart from Mr Gilbert.

But what stood at the door made me still, stunned. A young handsome man, broad shoulders, straight legs, blue eyes, straight pointed nose and mere looking at him I knew he would be in his early twenties since he was full of energy.

He stopped and stared at me for a long time, his eyes held a feeling I couldn't explain, but the stare was only for a brief moment, he looked away and headed over to Mr Gilbert.

"Dad, I want to talk to you." He said as he sat down at the chair facing Mr Gilbert and I realised it was his father, I didn't know my boss had a son, well I only started working here two weeks ago.

"What is it about?" Mr Gilbert asked him.

The young handsome man looked at me and then back at his father, and I knew what that look meant. "In private dad." He said in his alluring voice.

"Oh.." Mr Gilbert turned to me. "Leave us now." I put down the remaining book I was arranging on the shelf and left the room, closing the office door behind me. Outside I exhaled softly, damn he was sexy! I exclaimed in my head and walked away to do my other Job.

"So what is it?" Gilbert waited for his son to continue, leaning back at his chair as he put down the pen he was holding, to give his son his full attention.

"Dad, my music was a hit!" Russeli exclaimed with joy, he was so happy to break this news to his father, he had been working on the hit song for a while now, and he had rushed down to report to his father about it.

Gilbert grins, obviously happy for his son. "At least what you studied overseas wasn't a waste, congratulations." He lifts his lips, a satisfying smile plastered on it.

"Dad, I am about to write a new song." Russeli who took music as his favourite friends today, still with that goofy smile on his lips.

Gilbert stopped smiling and put his hands on his chin. "But, there is something you lack and you do need it."

Russeli paused, he looked at his father curiously, raising his brow, he knew he had everything he needed to compose a good song, and now he was curious. "And what would that be?"

"Emotions," Gilbert said in a simple word.

Russeli narrowed his eyes and exhaled softly. "Here you go again, dad." He was expecting him to say something else and not some emotional gibberish. "I don't think I will ever have that." Russeli crossed his legs and put his chin on his hands.

He had never fallen in love, yes he does sing a love song, but to him, love was a fallacy.

"You're singing without emotions and that is damn crazy!" Gilbert said seriously this time, he had oftentimes told Russeli about this, but it had always fallen to deaf ears.

Russeli cutely shook his head. "Alright, I heard you." He raised his lips upwards. "But I have to go practice now, you know...practice how to have this emotion you talk about."

Gilbert sat up. "You don't have practice, you have to meet people." He told him seriously.

"People?" Russeli scoffed, he had met a lot of people, and still no emotions. He glances up at his father. "Like, which people?"

"Ladies! Russeli, ladies!" Gilbert demonstrated with his hands and Russeli chuckled.

"Dad, I met a lot of ladies, outside the country and around the city. I have dated a lot of them, but nothing dad..no feelings, I don't love any of them. They aren't people I should have emotions for." He spoke indifferently.

"My company produces music, and I sing with emotions because of your mother who I love and it is a real feeling." Gilbert lifts his hands to his chin. "Get into a real relationship with someone. I can set a date for you son." He concluded.

"Dad..." Russeli looked at him like it was absurd. In the past few years, his father had always set him up with different classy ladies, still, all of them meant nothing to him.

"Next week, okay?" Gilbert cuts him off.

"I am tired of meeting ladies dad, must girls be so troublesome.." He frowns. "No wonder I hate them." His father was always pushing him to ladies he didn't want, maybe that was why he even disliked them more.

"That's what music requires, as long as you sing love songs, you need emotions," Gilbert explains.

Russeli rolled his eyes, no longer interested in that. He remembered something and looked at his father sharply. "Well, that aside, who was that lady here when I came in?"

"Oh." Gilbert picked up his pen again. "The new maid." New indeed, now Russeli knows why he hasn't seen her here before. "She is an orphan who pleaded I hire her as a maid," Gilbert explains further.

"Okay." Russeli said nonchalantly and got up from his chair. "I will be off now." He walked towards the door.

"Don't forget about the date next week!" Gilbert called out.

"I won't, I am just curious to know who the lady you will set me up with will be this time," Russeli said before swinging the door open and shutting it behind him.

He shook his head at the thought of the new date his father will set for him, he had met numerous ladies, it will be easy to brush this new one-off too. He climbed up the stairs and went into his room, caring less about the emotions his father talked about.

Chapter 3 Make him fire her

Gilbert Ryan and Malcolm Horace were in Gilbert's office at the company discussing. Mr Gilbert Ryan had a renowned music producing company and their company were planning on their Russeli's sixth album that will be produced in two weeks.

"The decision has not been made yet," Gilbert told Malcolm. Malcolm was in a joint partnership with Gilbert and is the next acting director in charge of the production.

"By next week we would oversee the outcome," Malcolm said, flipping pages of the file he had in his front.

"Last year production hit the base, a worldwide nation got the song, and there were over two billion people who listened, bought and downloaded it," Gilbert said proudly with a smile on his lips.

"Yes, that was a big hit, your son was something...very talented, but I must say this, he lacked emotions," Malcolm told him, hitting home where it hurts and Gilbert stopped smiling.

"I know. I am trying to set a date for him since it might help him." He paused. "I heard you have a daughter."

"Yes."

"Do you mind setting a date with her and my son?" Malcolm asked, he hadn't had the time to look into a female for Russeli, but he was glad Malcolm had a daughter.

Malcolm grinned. "Not at all, I would like that too since she also needs to be experienced."

"That's a good idea, the both of them would be singing for the sixth album, it would be a great development if they would fall in love and bring their emotions out."

They both shook their heads and chuckled. "Let's see how far the next album will be, let's try harder to make it a success." Gilbert shook hands with Malcolm with a big grin.

Russell Pov.

I sat down in my room with my guitar in my hands as I put down some music, I felt thirsty and the water bottle on the desk was now empty.

I wonder why I had a sudden taste of water today. I have a lot to write now, especially since the inspiration is rushing into my head. I couldn't go down now to get myself another bottle of water, well I was that lazy.

I remember seeing a maid at my father's study and it made me glad that we had one. I pressed an extension button and called her in. It was something I was glad we had in this big mansion.

Few minutes later she was upstairs and in my room. I know I would have told her to get me the water while coming up, but what use is a maid if you don't make her stress out a bit.

"I need water," I said without glancing up at her. I knew she was the one who had stepped into the room, whereas there was no one in this mansion but me and her.

"Okay, I will get it." I heard her soft sexy voice and I stopped writing and looked up, it was the first time I heard her speak and sure I haven't heard a voice like hers.

She turned to leave the room but I called out. "Wait!" She turned around. I wanted to hear her voice again but, well, I do lose interest in ladies easily.

"Should I take water, coffee or juice, which one..." I said rhetorically.

"I suggest you take water since you are studying." She interrupted me and this was one thing I hate.

"I didn't ask for your suggestion!" I said coldly and she looked down immediately. "And you shouldn't decide what I take and what I don't." She was only a maid, what gave her the right to speak while I was talking?

"I am sorry." I heard her soft voice and it made me angry.

"Keep that to yourself!" I shouted and she shuddered. "If there is a word you don't use around me, it's that word, I hate it." I made it clear to her.

"I am so...umm... " She stammered and stopped whatever she wanted to say.

"Don't ever do what you will be sorry for..." I lift my eyes and look at her again, she was like a child that was being scolded for her wrongdoing and she looks so innocent with her eyes looking down at her feet.

"Okay." Her voice almost came as a whisper, she must find me so intimidating and she looks so pathetic to watch.

"Just get me water," I said and looked down at my script as I put down new keys and words as I heard the door open and close, she must have left.

A few minutes later, there was a knock and I heard the door open and she stepped inside, probably with the bottle of water and glass, well I didn't look up. "Pour it for me," I ordered her as I took the glass she had brought.

"Okay." She opened the bottle of water as I held the glass cup with my left hand, while I continued writing my song with my right hand, without looking at her.

Soon I saw water spill on my note and I looked up at her with dagger eyes as I got up from the chair. "Are you blind?!" I raised my voice furiously.

"I am sorry." Her hands were trembling. "I did not mean to spill it on your book." She immediately put down the bottled water and picked my note, cleaning off the water which has already done damage to my book. "I am very sorry, please forgive me."

"What sort of maid did my father hire!" I shouted. "The basics of being a maid is knowing how to pour water in a glass and you don't know that much!"

"I am sorry." She looked up at me with her big eyes that were filled with tears now as she stuttered.

But I was too furious to stop, whereas she kept repeating the words I told her not to. "I told you not to say that word!" She pressed her lips together.

I looked down at my note that was now rough in her hands as she continued cleaning the water. "You know what? Find a book and replace this note, after that, you have to rewrite all the music written on it."

She looked down, the tears in her eyes had rolled down her cheek and was dropping at my note. "I am so..."

"If you are then replace them!" I cut her off and walked out of the room in anger, everything I had written so far and come up with was now destroyed.

I would love to tell her and make my dad fire her, but she had this innocence in her that made me feel pity for her. Writing the content in the note must be too much, I am not sure she even knows how to write music, but it was the right punishment for her.
