Chapter 1 Have Nothing

"Adam, please let my father go. The company and the money are all yours, just let him go, please!"

Bella Mu's knees rubbed against the tiled floors as her small hands clutched the man's sleeves tightly. Tears ran down her cheeks as her voice trembled.

A bony middle-aged man was lying on the bed behind her. The heart monitor beeped through the chaotic silence, and she couldn't help but clutch his sleeves even tighter.

Adam Qin snorted. "Let him go? And my family? Did he let them go then?"

Shaking off Bella Mu's grip, he stomped up to the middle-aged man and grabbed a hold of his collar. Regardless of the man's weak figure, he shook him. "Darren Mu, have you ever thought about what had happened?

Do you remember the day you took away our company and then forced my parents into debt? Their blood is in your hands! You're the one who pushed my father to jump off the building."

Darren Mu was so weak that his chest heaved violently from the harsh grip. He wheezed out, "You! Who are you?"

A hint of sadness flashed in Adam Qin's eyes, and his smile grew even crueler. "Do you remember the Qin Family? Your good old friend?"

Darren Mu's eyes widened in shock, and the past rushed back to him. The machine must've detected the sudden emotional fluctuation from the patient's heart and gave out a warning beep. Just then, a band of doctors and nurses quickly hurried over.

However, as they pushed the door open, they heard a reverberating voice from the inside of the room, "Get out!" Suddenly, they all went to a halt, unsure of what to do.

Seeing this, Bella Mu quickly scrambled to her feet and raced towards them. "Doctors, nurses, please," she stuttered out. "Please help him. My father..."

The doctors could only stare at her awkwardly. However, one look at Adam Qin's frightening gaze, they could only grit their teeth and leave. The hospital had been receiving countless sponsorships from the Qin Group every year. At this point, they couldn't afford to offend him.

When the door closed, Bella Mu cried out desperately. Knowing that she had no other choice, she returned back to Adam Qin and knelt down. "Please, please let my Dad go. He has cancer." She hiccupped. "He doesn't have that much time left."

Adam Qin approached the old man indifferently, whispering into his ear, "See? Do you see your own daughter begging me like a dog? Are you happy?

Darren, you'd better live longer to see how much I can torture her." He snarled, "Go on. Open your eyes and look at her! In four months, she will birth my child. Would you like to guess what would happen to them?"

Darren Mu couldn't say another word. Instead, he struggled to open his eyes and stare at his beautiful daughter. He remembered spoiling her so much ever since she was a little girl. Now, everything was ruined.

Although he deserved this, there was no need for his daughter to lose all her dignity at the sight of this beast.

"Stand... Up..."

he stuttered out, before going into a series of coughs, but that went completely unnoticed by Bella Mu. She was too busy trying to convince the man to let her father go.

Staring at their desperate reaction, Adam Qin resisted the urge to laugh radically. "Oh, this is just the beginning," he cooed.

All of a sudden, the noisy instruments attached Darren Mu's body gave out multiple cries. Finally, the old man managed to sit up as he glowered at his daughter, despising himself more for seeing such a piteous sight.

"Stand up!" he cried.

"Dad!" Suddenly, the young woman collapsed onto the tiled floorings. Translucent liquid pooled beneath her.

Suddenly, it seemed as if hundreds of things had happened in one go. She could hear faint shouts of, "Mr. Adam, Miss Bella's amniotic fluid has broken. She's about to give birth!"

A wave of pain coursed through her abdomen as she yelled out, clutching the sides of her bed. "Congratulations, Sir. It's a boy," one of the nurses announced.

"A woman like you will never be qualified to stay by Adam's side. You'd better get out of here as fast as you can."

At the voice, Bella Mu quickly snapped out of her memories as a baby's cry echoed in her ears. Struggling to sit up, she quickly lifted the quilt from her frail body and got out of bed.

As soon as she got up, her legs trembled from the sudden weight, and she found herself falling back onto the cushions. At this time, a woman came walking in. Upon seeing what had become of her, she quickly rushed over and helped Bella Mu back onto the bed.

"What are you doing? You still haven't recovered yet!" she snapped. "Get back to bed."

"Sally, I heard the baby crying," Bella Mu said faintly, grabbing her friend's wrist. She refused to lie back. "I–I have to find him. I'm going to find him..."

"Even if you do want to find your baby, you can't now. You still need to recover." Seeing her friend's desperation, Sally Lin could feel a lump rising to her throat. She turned away, not wanting to see the piteous state her best friend was in. "How can you find him if you're still so weak? Get some rest first, please."

What else could she do?

The woman's words was like a slap in the face. Bella stiffened under her grip as continuous tears rolled down her cheeks.

The moment she had given birth to her baby, the Qin Family quickly drove her out. The only reason why she was living now was because of Sally Lin's kindness, yet more than a month had past, and she still hadn't recovered. If she went there to the mansion and asked for her son, she would receive nothing but humiliation and insincerity. What else could she do?

Staring at her torn expression, Sally Lin sighed in frustration. She hated how ruthless the Qin Family was, and she couldn't help but feel sorry for what her friend had to go through.

However, no matter how much she wanted to rip the man's face off, she steadied her anger and moved closer. Right now, Bella would need all the comfort she could find. "Have a good rest," Sally Lin suggested. "Once you recover, we can go find them together. Is that okay?"

Bella didn't answer. Instead, she leaned against the edge of the bed and bit on her wrists. Hatred was poured out of her heart, washing her bones and body with the vengeance in her soul.

After crying for a while, the woman gradually fell asleep. Sally Lin tucked her in and left a note by the bedside table, preparing to go out. She still had to deal with numerous company issues from the amount of contracts she needed to look over.

When the door closed, Bella suddenly opened her eyes.

After waiting for a while, she slowly got up and crept up to the window. Once the coast was clear, she began to put on her clothes.

She was going to find Adam and take her son back! She would see her son over her dead body!

She didn't even wait for a single minute before she rushed down the stairs. Once she had hailed a taxi from the roadside, she quickly requested that the driver take her to the Qin Family's villa as fast as he could.

When they arrived, she could see the villa from across the street. Just as she was about to rush in, she froze. If she casually went in like this, she would most likely be driven out. If she wanted to get close to her child, then she had no other choice but to sneak in.

A bitter smile slithered into her lips. Fortunately, she had lived here for many years and knew the place like the back of her hand. Sneaking in wouldn't be difficult.

Thinking of this, she tiptoed to the back of the villa. After months of living with the man, she knew for a fact that he didn't like having many people in his home, so he usually kept a nanny. It was around noon now, so the nanny must've been in the kitchen.

As she gingerly entered from the back door, Bella cautiously looked around her, trying to figure out her next move. However, before she could even take a step forward, voices rang out from the living room.

"Adam, I'll be going shopping tomorrow. Will you be coming with me?"

"Tomorrow afternoon."

"Great! I'll set it up now."

Bella knew very well who the man was, but she was unfamiliar with the woman's voice. Not being able to help herself, she took a step towards the living room. Sure enough, she could make out a figure of the coquettish woman leaning intimately against Adam's arms.

She staggered backwards, only to hit the wall heavily. The vase by the corner was knocked down by her hands, and the sound of the crashing porcelain attracted their attention.

"What happened?" He looked back.

Widening her eyes, Bella hurried to hide inside one of the rooms by the right. Adam had assumed that the noise must've been made by the nanny, but seeing as she didn't answer, he grew even more suspicious.

When he caught sight of the broken fragments all over the tiles, his face grew unnaturally dark. "Come out!" he shouted coldly, facing the storage room in front of him.

Hearing the noise, Bella had to cover her mouth to keep herself from gasping out. A few seconds had passed, and Adam still didn't hear any response. Out of anger, he kicked the door open, only to see the exposed bottom half of Bella's figure.

"What are you doing here?"

Seeing as she had been discovered, she figured that there was no use in hiding her purpose anymore. "I want to see the baby."

A mocking smile threaded across the man's lips as he squinted. "Baby? Whose baby?"

"Mine!" She took a step forward.

Adam reeled back in disgust, as if the person in front of him had a virus. "Don't pretend to be so piteous," he sneered. "How about this? I'll give you one minute to leave. Otherwise, don't blame me for being merciless."

Bella's heart ached at the sight of the man's face. She blinked back the unshed tears, and she tried her best to steady her unstable footing. Her poor recovery from giving birth only caused her to collapse onto the ground.

"Adam..."

"You dare call his name? Don't be so shameless!" The woman approached the pair as she snorted in disdain.

Chapter 2 Want To Get The Child Back

Seeing the woman, Bella felt as if hundreds of spiders were crawling at the back of her skull that she couldn't even face her. "Adam...please... No matter what had happened in the past, I really did love you. Please, just let me see him this one time."

Under the instruction of Adam, his mother, Ada, drove Bella out of their house the moment she had given birth to the young boy. The baby was immediately taken into the ICU, so until now, she still hadn't seen her baby.

Thinking of this, she sniffled helplessly.

However, no matter how much she cried, there was still no change in the man's eyes. After a long while, he said slowly, "What do you expect I should feel for the daughter of the man who had killed my father?"

His words completely blew all their memories out of proportions. It seemed that his sweetness for her before was nothing more than an act to lure her in. His betrayal felt like a cool blade that had found itself buried in her heart.

No matter how deep her love for him was, it was hard for Bella to bear such a blow. After a long silence, the woman placed her hand on Adam's shoulder. "Adam," she said softly. "You still have other matters to deal with in the company. Why don't you go ahead with your work? I'll handle it here."

He glanced at her. Luna Fang was the daughter of one of the company's largest shareholders. If nothing would go wrong, she would soon be crowned as his future wife.

Thinking of this, he didn't say anything more. Instead, he turned around and walked out the door.

Bella still wasn't going to back down that easily. She stumbled forward, wanting to catch up with him, but Luna Fang quickly stopped her. Her eyes glinted murderously. "Darcy, bring the child to me."

Thinking that the woman's about to give her the baby, Bella smiled happily. "Thank you," she repeatedly murmured.

Luna Fang's smile became even more mocking as each second had passed. "Oh, don't thank me just yet," she said laughingly. "The show's about to start."

Darcy quickly brought the baby over to them. A part of her wanted to give the child to Bella, but Luna Fang quickly grabbed the newborn from the nanny's arms. The sharp movements scared the young boy, making him cry.

"You haven't seen him, have you?" In one quick movement, Luna Fang covered the boy's face with her hand, making sure that Bella wouldn't be able to see his face clearly.

This had been her baby. The child that she had brought to life was lying right in front of her. Her fingers trembled as she raised her arms, but Luna Fang quickly turned away.

"You don't know his name, do you?" She raised her eyebrow. "His name is Richard."

As soon as the name slipped the woman's lips, Bella's heart immediately ached for the young boy. It was her fault for bringing such a sweet innocent child into such a deceptive world.

"He's well-loved here, don't you know? All of his visitors said how good-looking he is, and how he looks so much like Adam. Mrs. Qin would always laugh at the approval, but I've always been irritated by it." Luna Fang rolled her eyes and raised her head. "I remembered enduring all of those comments right at the beginning, but now, it seems that I've found a way to make this more fun. Do you want to see how?"

There was a few moments of silence. When there was no answer, the haughty woman clicked the back of her tongue and snorted. Suddenly, she reached out her hand and pinched the child's arm.

The baby burst into another round of tears. His shrieks bounced across the high ceilings as Luna Fang's sweet voice followed. "Since he makes me unhappy, I don't think I'll allow him to be happy either. What do you think?"

"Stop!" Bella stumbled towards the woman, instinctively wanting to grab the baby from her.

Luna Fang, however, was well-prepared for this reaction and quickly stepped aside. Seeing as she was still weak from the recovery, Bella wasn't able to restrain herself as she fell heavily onto the floor. Its rough tiles scraping her palms and knees.

She was about to rush towards the woman again, but Luna Fang immediately took two steps backward and aimed her fist towards the baby's face. "Well? If you come over, I'll make sure he wouldn't be able to see straight after the beating I'll give him."

Bella froze. Her arms lied limp to her sides as she tried to negotiate, "Give me the baby, and I swear I'll take him far away from you. I don't want anything else."

Luna Fang snorted. Was Bella trying to play a trick on her? If she really didn't want anything, then she should get out of here and never show up.

The crazy woman must want to take the child to keep Adam by her side.

At the thought of this, Luna Fang became even more resentful. With a flick of her wrist, she pinched the baby again, and the young boy's cries became even louder. "I won't be giving him to you," she snapped.

"In fact, I'll take great care of him as if he was my child, and slowly but surely torture him. Don't you think that's a better idea?"

Without even waiting for the woman to react, Luna Fang turned her head and glared at Darcy, who was gazing at the scene as if she was some sort of spectator. "Well?" she demanded. "Why are you still standing there? Call the police!"

Darcy looked up. She furrowed her eyebrows. "Call the police?"

"Someone broke into my house and wanted to kidnap my child. Don't you think we need to call the police?"

At the implication of her voice, Bella shook her head rapidly. "No, please..."

Realizing what the woman's plan was, she quickly turned to run out of the door. At this point, she couldn't let her son be the brunt of ridicule if he found out that his biological mother was a prisoner.

"Stop her!" Luna yelled out. "If she escapes, then you might as well pack your bags and get the hell out of here!"

Bella didn't stop. Instead, she moved even faster. However, just as she was about to rush out of the front gates, something hard slammed against the side of her skull. From the impact, she fell onto the pavements with a shout.

Her vision blurred all around her, but she could make out Darcy's kneeling figure by her side. "Miss Mu," she whispered. "I'm so, so sorry. I had no other choice."

As Adam was halfway down the highway, he realized that he had left one of his documents at home. Seeing as it was for one of his meetings, he decided to drive back.

When he returned, he found that everything had returned to its peaceful self. Luna was sitting on the sofa, wrapping her hand around Richard Qin's little fingers. When she heard the noise, she looked up. "You're back?"

"Where is she?" He didn't bother to answer her.

She paused as a fierce look flashed in her eyes. "She left. After I made everything clear to her, I asked Darcy to send her away." Her voice seemed calm and normal, as if she didn't just have the woman arrested.

"And where is Darcy?"

Luna shrugged. "She probably went to the store to buy some vegetables."

Without further questioning, Adam went into the study to get the document and left.

Hearing the engine roar to life, Luna slowly loosened her grip and straightened her back, exposing the young boy's mangled body. A cry burst out of his small lips as blood trickled down his forehead.

A splotch of black and blue appeared on the side of his face, but Luna only smirk in response.

At the police station.

It was already noon, and the front desk was a mess. The hall was crowded with numerous convicts as officers filled up the required papers.

Bella was woken up by the banging noise around her. She tilted her head, still feeling the aftereffects of being smashed against the head. Holding the wall for support, she staggered upwards and glanced around.

Her memory came rushing back to her once she saw a policeman not far away from her position. Cold sweat beaded down her back, as her mind went completely blank. She felt lost as to what to do.

When Bella gazed down at her hands, she found that they were trembling heavily. If she didn't get out of here as soon as possible, then they would arrest her for real. What the hell was she going to do?

After a pause, a thought shot through her mind. She grabbed her phone in a hurry and dialed Sally's number.

"Bella? Where are you?" Sally's panicked voice came from the other end of the line.

"Sally, you have to help me, I'm–"

Before she could finish, the phone was ripped from her hands. When Bella looked up, she found that the policeman had already towered over her. There was an unmistakable coldness in his eyes.

"You still want someone to get you out?" he sneered.

"Bella? Are you there? Hello?"

Gritting her teeth, she screamed at the top of her lungs, "Sally!

He–"

The policeman must've already seen through her intentions. He quickly hung up the phone and swung his fist across her face. The woman slammed against the pavements from the impact, and she cried out.

Others snapped their heads up from the noise and peered at the woman who had just been beaten. However, the policeman didn't even bother to look at them as he grabbed a fistful of her hair. "You broke into the house and aim to steal someone else's child. Don't you have any conscience?"

At the claim of her being a human trafficker, the spectators started jeering in approval of her mistreatment.

"How dare you hit Miss Fang?" The officer spat at her as if she was just another beggar in the streets.

Without another word, he grabbed his handcuffs and cuffed her to the table. "Watch her," he warned his colleague before strutting out of the room.

"Let me go! I didn't do anything wrong. I'm innocent!" she cried out repeatedly, hoping that someone would actually listen to her.

Annoyed by the noise, one of the officers kicked the table, letting it topple over the ground. "Shut up!" he snarled. "Or I'll make sure I'll rip that tongue of yours from your throat."

Sally tried to call back, but it seemed that the phone had already been turned off. Pacing back and forth in the living room, she could only imagine what state her friend must've been in. After a few seconds of remembering the details about the call, she could only guess as to where she was.

She seemed to hear someone yelling "officer". Was Bella in the police station?

Wanting to test her theory, Sally called another number. "Mr. Terence, it's me–Sally. Are you free?"

The police station was a little cold and the constant buzzing sound could be heard from one of its air conditioners. As the cold air blew on her back, Bella winced. Now, she had no other choice but to curl up in the corner as her heartbeat raced inside her chest. At this point, she found that she couldn't even breathe.

A faint pain wrecked her lower abdomen, and she couldn't help but gasp out.

Not being able to stand it anymore, she turned to one of the officers. "Sir, I'm not feeling well." Her voice trembled. "Can you please let me go."

The policeman had been filing different documents this entire time. At the sound of her voice, he glanced up only to see that she was indeed very pale. After a moment's hesitation, he stood up and unlocked the handcuffs wrapped around her wrists.

"Get inside." He shoved her into an interrogation room.

At this moment, the pain had grown even worse. Bella slammed against the corner of the table, and she bit on her lower lip, drawing blood.

"I'm warning you! You'd better not be playing tricks on me," he snapped. "I can think of many ways to punish you here. In fact, I could make sure that you're trapped here for the rest of your life!"

Bella leaned against the table. His voice had grown even more muffled, as if there was a wall standing in between them.

"Stop pretending." Bella had been tortured enough that she finally snapped. She looked up and stared at the officer right in the face. "Fine!" she yelled. "You can leave me here to rot."

Seeing as she had the nerve to talk back at him, the police stomped over towards her. "You want to rot? Fine, I'll teach you a lesson."

A bad feeling bubbled in her stomach, causing her to step back subconsciously. However, before she could fall onto her back, he quickly grabbed a hold of her collar.

"What the hell are you going to do?" She pushed him away.

Just then, her clothes were ripped apart, and her pale skin was exposed to the cold air. A scream ripped out her throat as she was trashed around under his grip, but it was to no avail.

'No...please, no...'

Bella squeezed her eyes shut.

Suddenly, the door slammed open. Before the two of them could react, a shadow of a figure rushed over to them and lifted the police. He punched him heavily.

Bella squinted her eyes at the familiar face in front of her. Different emotions soared through her veins as she trembled from the cold. "Mr. Terence," she stuttered out.

Terence Jing shrugged off his coat and wrapped it around the woman's frail form. "Are you–are you okay?" she murmured, throwing her arms around his neck as she could barely hold herself together.

"I'll be okay. Get some rest first. I'll take you to the hospital," he murmured into her ear as they left the station.

"Do you even know how dangerous this is? She just gave birth to a baby! She shouldn't be running around like this!" the doctor exclaimed, shooting Bella a reprimanding look. "Do you know how much harm you could've done to yourself?"

Moreover, after glancing at the numerous scars peppered across her body, the doctor could only assume that she was abused. He wanted to say more words, but he stopped himself. After all, it was her own business, but that still didn't stop him from prescribing medicine and shooting Terence Jing the nastiest glare he could muster.

Terence Jing decided to take the man's anger at ease. Once he got the prescription, he bowed his head. "Thank you, Doctor."

As the man headed to the pharmacy, the doctor couldn't help but shake his head in bewilderment. Although the man seemed like a gentleman, he still couldn't seem to take care of his wife.

Once Terence Jing had returned to the ward with the medicine, Bella had already woken up from her coma. Seeing as she was struggling to get up, he quickly set the medications onto the bedside table and hurried towards her. "What are you doing? Let me help you."

Bella turned to look at him. Her bright eyes were now glassy and empty. "You'd help me bring my son back, right? They–they'll abuse him there! Please."

Seeing that the clothes she had worn were already dirtied and mangled, he suggested, "Why don't you lie back first?"

"No!" Bella grabbed a hold of his wrist with all her strength as if he was her savior. "I'm begging you to help me!" she screamed. "I can do anything for you. Please.

I–I really have no other choice." Tears streamed down her pale cheekbones as her messy hair clung to her face. "I–I have absolutely nothing left..."

Seeing her so desperate, Terence Jing had no other choice but to hold her comfortingly. "I–I'll help you." The words left his lips before he could even stop himself.

"Will you really?" Bella's eyes brightened. She stared at him as if he had just delivered her the greatest gift of God.

Terence Jing nodded solemnly. "Rest first," he said again. "When you wake up, you'll see your baby."

"Okay. I'll go to sleep now." As the words slipped her lips, she slowly closed her eyes. She looked incredibly peaceful, and the sight made the corners of his lips twitch.

Terence Jing stomped on the tiles heavily to inform her that he was about to leave. However, before he reached the door, he tiptoed back to see if she really had fallen asleep. Once he was a hundred percent sure, he sighed in relief and left.

Chapter 3 So Carless!

After working in the company for the whole day, it was already deep in the night when Adam came back home. Recently, the shareholders had been growing restless again, so they had him busy the entire day.

Thinking of this, something flashed in his eyes. Steadying his breathing, he quickly entered the house.

Luna had been sitting on the sofa and watching the TV this entire time. Upon hearing the noise, she quickly stood up and walked over towards him to take his briefcase. "Why are you so late again?" she complained. "Do you know how many times the dishes had to be reheated?"

Adam shrugged. "You should've eaten first."

She didn't like his nonchalant attitude, but she held back her irritation. Instead, she held his upper arm and said, "You know how worried I am about your health." She motioned to his abdomen. "After all, you've been having stomach troubles these days, right? If you don't eat on time, you might relapse again."

Seeing that Adam was back, Darcy quickly placed the dishes onto the table and filled their glasses with water. Once everything was set up, she stood by the end of the table.

Back then, there had never been such a rule wherein she was required to stand, but ever since Luna came into the picture, the woman had required every meal to be like this. Seeing as it was just a small matter, Adam usually consented to such trifling matters, but he wasn't in the mood for it today. With a wave of his hand, he said, "Darcy, you can go to have a rest."

The maid turned to Luna and left away before getting her consent.

"What's wrong? Did something happen in the company?" Luna asked cautiously as she sat down.

Adam resisted the urge to snort. 'Of course. After all, your father was the one who set me up. Maybe he should be the one telling you all about it.'

"I'm handling it," he responded, before turning his head. "Where is he?"

Of course, he'd be looking for his son first. Luna dug her nails into her palms as she maintained a small smile. Not only didn't he even look at her, but all he cared for was that bastard! "Didn't you take him away?"

Realizing that something was off, Adam frowned. "What do you mean? When did I take him away?"

"S–someone came to our house this afternoon and said that you would be taking Richard out to play, so I..."

Before she could finish her words, Adam wrenched her up from the chair. His eyes narrowed. "When the hell did I call anyone over?"

"Th–the afternoon." Luna was so terrified from his reaction that her voice trembled unconsciously. She had never seen Adam this angry before.

"You just gave the child away? You didn't even bother to call me to check it?" he demanded ruthlessly.

"What? So you basically gave my child away? Are you really that careless?"

Tears continuously streamed down her face, but she steadied her ground. She stomped her feet in frustration. "Yes! Yes, I gave that child away! Why the hell would I take care of him before I'm even married to you? Who the hell would do that?" she snapped. "Besides, how the hell was I supposed to know that I'd be tricked?"

"If you don't want to take care of the child, then don't. It's not like I'm forcing you."

Taking one last look at the pathetic sight, Adam turned around and left. At this point, he had more important things to deal with.

Bella had just woken up from a nightmare. In her dream, she could make out Luna and Adam's figures as they tortured Richard in every means possible. His little body couldn't take the series of blows as he cried at the top of his lungs.

With a scream, her eyes snapped open. Her neck and back were drenched with cold sweat, and she couldn't help but twist to the other side of the bed. When she turned her head, she saw that the sky had already darkened, and the stars glinted from the windowsill.

Outside the corridor, there were hundreds of patients and doctors crossing the corridors – all in a hurry to get to their situations. Although the sounds echoed from afar, the room remained quiet, as if it was completely isolated from the world.

Just then, a familiar sound of banging footsteps came from outside. The next moment, the door was slammed open as a man ruthlessly walked in. He grabbed her by the neck. "Hand over the child," Adam demanded.

Bella felt completely at loss on how to respond to him. The sudden movements contributed to her inability to think as she hit his arm.

"Let me go!" she choked out.

A cruel smile slipped into his lips. "It took me a long time before I decided to let you go. Usually, smart people stay away from me, but it seems stupidity gets the best of you. Do you really want to die?" he said snidely.

She could feel her vision gradually blurring around her, and her struggling had grown even more fruitless by the second. Her hands feebly dropped to her sides as she tried her best to blink the tears away.

With a sharp thud, the force around her neck had disappeared, and Bella sharply inhaled a breath of fresh air. As she calmed her beating heart, she couldn't help but look up at the commotion.

Not far away, Adam had been fighting with Terence, who must've hurried back after hearing all the ruckus. The two of them were both trained in the army, so it was difficult to catch the other off-guard.

"Stop it," she said hoarsely.

However, the two simply ignored her. In a blink of an eye, Terence caught Adam's fist and punched the corner of his eye. Bella immediately sat up at the sight. She got out of bed and rushed in to stand in front of Terence just as Adam was about to raise his fist.

He sneered, "Do you really think I wouldn't hit you?"

Bella snorted. "Of course I know you'd hit me." At this point, she knew exactly what the man was capable of. "But if you want to beat anyone, then beat me. Terence is only here to help me."

"Hand over the baby," he demanded.

Bella's arms trembled as all color left her face. "Isn't the baby with you?" Her voice was raspy from having no water in her system in the past few hours. "If you want to kill me, you might as well find a better excuse."

"Luna said that the child had been taken away by my man this afternoon. Who else would be behind this?" His eyes flashed. "I've asked someone to check the surveillance video. The person who had taken my child went to your house, so you'd better hand him over now."

Her mouth opened and closed, looking like a fish who had just been wrenched out of water.

The baby had been taken away? Where was he? Her heart sank to the bottom of her stomach. Where was her baby now?

"Where is he?" Although her voice was weak, there was now a newfound sharpness in her tone. She grabbed his collar and pulled him towards her. "I'm asking you where he is!"

'What trick is this woman playing now? Is she taking me as an idiot?' Adam shoved her back. "I should be asking you the same question. Look, I'll give you one last chance. If you don't give him to me, then I'll sue you for child trafficking."

"I don't know where he is! Where the hell is he?" However, Bella acted as if she didn't hear what he had just said. Instead, she continued to repeat her question as her eyes glazed over at the thought of her own son going missing.

When Terence grabbed her hand, she tried her best to wrench him away, but it was to no avail. He quickly patted the back of her hand and said softly, "Calm down. Let's figure this out first, okay? If the child was really taken away, then you'll only be making things worse by acting like this."

There was something about his words that stopped her anxious movements. Terence quickly turned to the other man. "Mr. Adam, I'm afraid there is some misunderstanding. This has nothing to do with her," he stated.

"After all, she's been detained in the police station this entire time when the kid was taken away."

Adam raised his eyebrow. "And why should I believe you? She has her phone."

"Look, if you insist, you can go to the police station yourself and check the surveillance video. Then, you'll know if I'm telling the truth or not."

At the same time.

After cleaning up the remaining food in the dining room, Darcy glanced at the clock to see that it was almost midnight. She was about to go to bed when she remembered Luna's rule that she had to tell her first if she wanted to do anything.

Just as she reached the door of Luna's room, she heard a faint voice from the inside. She stopped herself from knocking.

"I've already dealt with the child. He has no way of coming back here." The woman laughed.

"How can I let that bastard take a place in this family? There's no way in hell!

Don't worry! I know exactly what to do."

After hearing the woman's cruel words, it wasn't difficult for Darcy to piece the puzzle together. Her jaw dropped as chills ran down her spine. It was obvious as to how cruel her mistress was. Was she really going to work here?

Darcy was so scared that she couldn't help but gasp. Upon hearing the noise, Luna immediately turned sharply. "Who is it?"

Swallowing heard, Darcy pretended to be calm. "Miss Luna, it's me."

Footsteps came from the other end of the room, and Luna opened the door. She raised her eyebrow. "Darcy? What's up?"
