Chapter 1
[1]
I was jolted awake by a puppy's wet tongue licking my face.
I pushed the puppy away with my eyes still closed. "Stop it, Dobby..."
A hoarse male voice sounded. "Austin? Flirting with me wasn't enough, now you're after my brother too?"
The system in my head screamed frantically, "Your story is falling apart! Hurry, win over the main character and get back on track!"
I opened my eyes to see the stunningly handsome face of my novel's male lead, Greg.
The other male lead was his twin brother, Austin.
I gulped and wrapped my arms around his neck.
"Don't be mad, he's not as impressive as you."
With such a tempting man in front of me, I decided to take a detour before returning to the main storyline.
After all, my best talent was winning people over.
[2]
When I was woken up by a lick, I pushed the dog's head away without opening my eyes.
"Stop it, Dobby..."
The furry head paused, and a hoarse male voice entered my ears.
"Austin? Not satisfied with seducing me, now you're after my brother too?"
The mix of desire and suppressed anger in his voice didn't fully wake me up.
I wanted to sleep more, but a sudden loud noise rang in my head.
"Wake up! Your home is being robbed!"
I jolted awake.
This so-called system, which sounded like Orion, told me that I had been in a car accident and was now in a coma. The sweet romance novel I hadn't finished was being continued by someone else, and it was getting worse and worse. The system had pulled me into the novel, turning me into the female lead with the task of winning over the male lead to restore the main storyline.
I turned my gaze to the man beside the bed.
The warm yellow nightlight cast half shadows on his upright figure. His long eyelashes flickered, hiding his eyes in the shadows, making it hard to read his expression. The light accentuated his prominent Adam's apple and collarbone, making them particularly enticing.
A perfect specimen.
I couldn't help but swallow.
He was one of the male leads in my book, Greg.
The other male lead was his twin brother, Austin.
They were a hundred times more attractive than the real-world prototypes I had imagined while writing the novel.
Oh my God, two such handsome men, and I get to seduce both.
This is... so twisted!
But I love it.
I didn't take the system's task seriously at all.
An unfinished novel, and the main storyline is still up to me, the author, to decide, right?
After being celibate for so long, I decided to lead the men astray first and deal with everything else later.
I licked my lips and suddenly lunged forward, wrapping my arms around Greg's neck.
"Don't be mad, he's not as big as you."
His face darkened instantly, and he grabbed my wrist tightly.
"Have you slept with him?"
Not yet, but that's the plan.
I opened my mouth and lightly bit his Adam's apple, mumbling, "Be good, let's sleep first..."
I didn't know which word triggered Greg, but he instantly became wild, pressing down on me and starting to kiss me all over, his hands wandering and igniting fires everywhere.
When he reached my thigh, he suddenly stopped, repeatedly rubbing one spot.
I squirmed in dissatisfaction.
"Move your hand up, it feels better higher..."
He sneered, "You've become quite forward after studying abroad. Is this what they teach you in school?"
Had the female lead already gone abroad?
I pulled a thread of sanity to ask the system.
Before my car accident, the plot had stopped at Daniela and Greg about to graduate from college, planning to study abroad together.
The system told me that in the messed-up continuation, Daniela had just graduated when Greg suddenly broke up with her. Greg left her to take over the family business, and Daniela went abroad alone for three years.
Today was Daniela's first day back after completing her studies, and she met Greg at a welcome-back party.
After that, Greg secretly went to Daniela's hotel, sneaked into her room, and started kissing her.
Tsk tsk tsk, look at what they've turned my aloof male lead into.
But I like it.
I looked at him with seductive, watery eyes. "They teach a lot abroad. We can try them all slowly."
His mocking eyes darkened a bit, and he suddenly pinched my leg.
I couldn't help but shiver.
He asked, "What about the thing here?"
"What?"
"Here," he carefully stroked a spot between my legs, "shouldn't there be a scar?"
A scar?
I couldn't remember for a moment.
Seeing my confused look, he gritted his teeth and suddenly thrust in.
"Liar!" He pressed my hand down firmly, his eyes red, filled with both hatred and desire.
Under the unrelenting waves, my sanity was ground to dust.
The small boat was tossed high by the waves, and jasmine flowers quivered, shedding morning dew.
As the dawn light gently filled the room, the commotion gradually subsided.
In the moment of lucidity before falling asleep, I finally remembered that there should indeed be a scar between my legs.
Chapter 2
When Greg was fifteen, he was kidnapped, and it was Daniela who saved him. Her inner thigh was brutally torn by long nails as she climbed over a wall. This incident forged a bond between them, and from fifteen to eighteen, they became pen pals for three years.
At eighteen, Daniela was admitted to Ledrora University, moving from a small town to be by Greg, the heir of the Hewitt family. Their relationship was great until they broke up after graduation. Greg, the arrogant golden boy, kept his distance from other girls for Daniela and was always there when she called. Daniela, self-conscious about the scar on her leg, refused to be intimate with him, and he patiently waited, remaining patient for four years. Everyone said the heir had fallen hard.
Greg didn't care; he focused on studying with Daniela, correcting her pronunciation word by word, and eagerly awaited the day they could study abroad together. If he liked Daniela so much, why did he break up with her?
The system, acting like Orion, screamed, "Because Greg found another woman!"
What?!
My perfect gentleman had been turned into a scumbag?
Fuming, I slapped the handsome face beside me.
Greg woke up, his usually composed face showing rare confusion.
"Did you just hit me?" he asked, uncertain.
I sneered, "You cheated on me."
He was stunned for a moment, then narrowed his eyes as if he had thought of something.
"Four years, and you're only confronting me now?"
I got out of bed, casually picking up a robe from the floor. "It's never too late to confront a jerk."
He gritted his teeth. "You didn't say that when you were enjoying yourself earlier."
I lit a cigarette from my bag. "Now that I'm done, you can leave."
He looked at me, a bit lost. "When did you learn to smoke?"
I exhaled a puff of smoke. "I told you, you pick up all sorts of habits abroad."
Thin wisps of smoke curled from my fingers as I opened the door.
"Go."
Greg pursed his lips, his dark eyes showing an unreadable expression. He got out of bed, dressed slowly, and walked out, fastening his watch.
I watched his perfect physique, sighing inwardly. Such an excellent body, wasted on such a lowly act. I probably wouldn't be able to sleep with him again. I wondered about Austin. They were twins; he couldn't be that different, right?
Greg suddenly stopped beside me, hesitated for a few seconds, and said, "Ryann and I aren't what you think..."
I was about to tell him to leave again when the system weakly said, "Greg isn't exactly a scumbag... He was deceived by Ryann... They weren't really together..."
Me: ???
I mentally screamed, "Why didn't you say anything earlier?! Why did you go mute halfway through?!"
Orion started whimpering, "You were so fierce just now, you scared me! Wah!"
I closed my eyes and rubbed my forehead. Such a handsome guy, ruined by the system.
Greg, seeing my silence, was also a bit angry. "I didn't do anything to wrong you, and you have no right to question me."
"Liar."
With that, he left quickly, his back radiating anger.
Liar.
This was the second time he had called me that tonight.
I asked the system, "What exactly did I lie to him about?"
The system sighed. "It's all that woman's doing."
"Ryann, who looks almost exactly like you."
"She has that scar on her leg."
Ryann was a character added by the rewriter. She completely replaced Daniela as the female lead. She cunningly transferred all of Daniela's deeds to herself, claiming she was the one who saved Greg from the kidnappers and corresponded with him for three years. Daniela was portrayed as the daughter of a maid, who, seeing Greg as a wealthy young master, had sinister intentions and stole the letters to take her place. Even the four years of refusing intimacy were twisted into her fearing Greg would discover she had no scar.
Ryann became the innocent woman who didn't want to cling to the heir but couldn't bear to see Greg deceived, so she had to step forward. Such a clumsy lie, yet no one doubted it. She won Ramona's favor and was seen as the future daughter-in-law of the Hewitt family. The rewriter completely ignored the plot logic and character settings, all to elevate Ryann by stepping on the female lead.
I sneered. The rewriter was probably an obsessive fan of Greg, inserting herself into Ryann's role to forcibly snatch him from the female lead. Even more ridiculous, Ryann stirred up conflict between the twins. The system said that the Hewitt brothers' relationship had deteriorated over the years because of Ryann.
Originally, the brotherly bond between Greg and Austin and their emotional ties with Daniela were major selling points of the novel. But now, the two male leads had been turned into jealous idiots whenever they met.
I rolled my eyes. Obsessive fan, she wouldn't get either of the men. If she couldn't continue my sweet story properly, she'd watch me turn it into a dramatic one.
After the system fed me the plot information, I took a quick nap. When I woke up, I received a text from Greg, awkwardly inviting me to a yacht party with familiar friends who wanted to see me.
I dressed up elegantly for the occasion. Underneath a pure white dress was a sexy bikini. Thinking about Greg's reaction when he saw the bikini made my legs feel weak. That brat would be happy again tonight.
Until I boarded the yacht and saw a face almost identical to mine, wearing the same white dress.
My smile instantly disappeared.
I never thought such a perfect face could look so infuriating.
Chapter 3
Greg was not around.
Ryann, feigning surprise, led me to the deck where her friends were gathered. They all turned to look at me.
The group of young men and women gasped in amazement.
"Ryann, she really looks a lot like you, even wearing the same dress on purpose."
"No wonder she fooled Austin for four years without being discovered. Even his own mother couldn't tell the difference, right?"
Someone teased, "Ryann, haven't you asked Mr. Carter if there's a hidden gem out there?"
Ryann playfully rolled her eyes at him. "Oh, stop it. Of course not."
Someone suddenly chimed in, "You guys don't get it. This is what they call modern technology can change your life."
Everyone paused, then nodded in realization.
"That's right. With a bit of determination, you can change your face and go from being a maid's daughter to Austin's beloved. Isn't that a secure future?"
Someone in the know deliberately said, "Ryann, you're too kind to even give her some face. Didn't you show Greg the records of her frequent visits to the plastic surgery clinic back then?"
I couldn't help but smirk.
Ridiculous.
Absolutely ridiculous.
So, not only was my relationship stolen, but even my face had become someone else's.
Ryann, embarrassed by the praise, lowered her head.
"Actually, Daniela has had a tough time too. Let's not bring up the past..."
Ha, of course, you don't want to bring it up. Too many bugs, and you're afraid of being exposed.
Seeing my disdainful expression, the group became extremely dissatisfied.
"Ryann is being generous by not holding it against you. Instead of being grateful, you're giving her a dirty look. Truly ungrateful!"
"Jealous, aren't you? During those four years in college, Greg treated her so well, almost like he wanted to keep her in his pocket. Then Ryann appeared, and the impostor was immediately kicked out. How could she stand it?"
"Serves her right! Ryann went out of her way to help Greg and kept in touch with him through letters for three years. Their feelings run deep! How could an opportunist replace that?"
"Greg treated her with all his heart for four years, and when she was exposed, she just up and left the country, not caring about Greg's feelings at all. Ungrateful!"
"At that time, Greg was deeply affected and had just taken over the first project of the Hewitt Group. When the funding chain had issues, it was Ryann who helped fill the gap."
So that's what happened.
I raised an eyebrow at Ryann, who avoided my gaze uncomfortably.
Ha, you really don't miss a chance to embellish your story, do you?
"Ryann, Mrs. Hewitt likes you so much. Will you two settle down this year?"
Ryann blushed and shyly said, "Mrs. Hewitt hopes we can settle down soon, but we're still young, so there's no rush. Besides, Austin is causing quite a stir..."
Austin?
I perked up my ears.
Someone laughed, "Isn't it because you're too charming, making both brothers fall head over heels for you!"
"Exactly. Greg and Austin have been close since they were kids, only fighting over you a few times."
"When Mrs. Hewitt mentioned marrying you to his brother, Austin was so angry he even threw a fit!"
"Ryann, for the sake of the Hewitt family's harmony and the prosperity of the Hewitt Group, why don't you just take both brothers?"
Ryann stomped her foot, her face red. "Oh, stop it! You're so annoying!"
The atmosphere was tense with jealousy.
I disdainfully stepped aside.
Ryann, as if she were boneless, leaned towards me.
Should I help her?
I shouldn't.
I even thoughtfully made enough space for her to fall gracefully to the ground.
She let out a cry, clutching her arm with tears in her eyes, looking at me.
"Daniela, why did you push me?"
Me: ...
If I had known your brain was full of water, I would have helped push it out sooner.
As expected, within three seconds, Greg's voice came from behind.
"Daniela, what are you doing?"
I rolled my eyes.
Wondering how to deal with you, you clueless man!
