Chapter 1 1.

"You have to move on with your life and stop crying over spilled milk. Forget about that Timon guy. Gosh, I never liked him for you." Stephany said to her friend as a way of trying to soothe her.

"And about that bitch you call your sister, hmph, she'll surely regret everything." She scoffed and reached out to pat her sad friend who was still sobbing.

"Look at it from the brighter side, Sam. I think it's a good thing that you got to find out about their true colors. They're betrayers and Timon is not good for you."

"You deserve better, girl."

Sam remained silent while still absorbing the shock she got earlier. Her sister and her man were now a thing.

"You don't understand, Steph. I really love Timon and never expected such betrayal from him." Samantha replied in a very sad tone, disappointment written all over her face.

Seeing that Timon had dumped her and settled for her younger sister was heartbreaking. That was the least thing she expected because Belinda and Timon had never met while they were dating.

Well, that was what she had thought.

Although 'All for fun' night club was bustling with happy people dancing to the rhythm of the music playing, Samantha sat at a corner with her friend who brought her to the place to cheer her up.

She wasn't in a party mood but Stephany had to practically drag her to the place to make her stop crying. And also to get her to forget about the heartbreak.

After a long pause, she took a sip from her drink and rose to her feet, wiping her eyes with the back of her left hand. With a resolute mind, she turned to her friend and spoke in a serious tone.

"I won't cry anymore. I'm going to move on and forget about those betrayers."

"That's more like it. That's the Samantha I know."

Stephany stood up as well, spread her arms wide and gave her friend a warm hug. When they pulled out of the embrace, Stephany dragged her to the dance floor and the friends started dancing together.

They were still on the dance floor when a guy came and asked Stephany for a dance and she agreed, leaving Samantha to dance with another guy. However, Samantha decided to excuse herself without informing her friend.

At that time, she needed some fresh air and decided to step outside. Unfortunately, she bumped into them. The same people that had caused her sour mood.

Right before her face, Timon and Belinda stood holding themselves and staring at her in a disgusting manner. Belinda was sizing her up like it was the first time they were seeing each other.

After Belinda was through scrutinizing her sister, she let out a cold snort and spoke with a sneer. "Well, look who we have here honey. It's Sam, my loving sister."

She eyed Sam and asked. "Hey, what the heck are you doing here? Oh, I forgot." Belinda smiled wryly and continued. "She came to try and forget about the heartbreak she got earlier. Aww, my dear sister, you know it was not my intention to take away your boyfriend. It's just that we're good together, more than you will ever be with him."

"Right babe?" Belinda turned her face to Timon before asking the last question.

The latter let out a soft smile, tilted his face and gave Belinda a quick kiss on the lips before replying. "You're always right, my love."

He turned back to the furious Samantha and continued from where Belinda stopped.

"You heard her Sam, Belinda and I are better together so it's best that you move on because I don't love you anymore."

While standing there and listening to the couple, Samantha's heart continued to race and she unconsciously clenched her fists. It hurt so bad that the man she had given her heart to would betray her in such a manner. Worst was that they were still throwing shades at her and reopening the wound in her heart.

"What do you guys want from me? You've gotten what you want so why won't you let me be." Samantha spoke as she bit her lips and turned her face to the side.

Shifting her gaze back to the couple before her, Samantha spoke with a snort.

"You know what, I think you two deserve each other. Two cheaters, disgusting."

The couple exchanged angry glances and turned back to glare at Samantha. Belinda was about to retort but Samantha was not done talking.

"I don't even know what I saw in a man with such rotten character. You're a cheat and a womanizer and I deserve better."

"Sorry Belinda because very soon, you'll be tossed into the waste bin like a piece of used tissue."

TAAAH

While busy with her comeback words, Samantha was caught unawares by a slap from her sister. She was clearly offended by Samantha's words and resorted to physical abuse.

Enraged, Samantha closed in on her and was about to pounce on her but Timon's hands stopped her.

"I won't let you hit my girlfriend, not before my face."

While still holding onto her tightly, Belinda took the chance and continued to hit Samantha at any free spot on her body. The latter, on the other hand, was trying to break free from the stronghold of Timon but she was powerless before him.

"Let go of me, Timon."

"If you want me to let you go, then you have to leave this premises at once. However, if you dare lay a hand on your sister, then I won't let you be."

Timon's grip was so strong that she could not break free from it.

"Will you leave this place or not?"

Samantha said nothing.

Since Timon was holding her tightly from the waist, she was able to tilt her head backwards and her eyes met with those ocean blue eyes that had once glinted for her in love. The eyes that made her more crazily in love with him.

Samantha quickly shook off the thoughts and angrily raised her voice in retort.

"Let go of me now or I'll charge you for abuse."

"You heard the lady. Let go of her or you'll have me to contend with." A deep, husky voice spoke from behind.

Chapter 2 2.

Swiftly, Timon dumped Samantha on the ground and turned to learn who the voice belonged to. However, one look at the strange man, the couple began to fret.

Samantha was also wondering why the mean looking man was helping her

As the strange man approached them, the couple took some steps backwards. "Now beat it, both of you." The man had not yet finished his words when Timon and Belinda disappeared from the place but Samantha stayed back.

Although she was scared of the man and the bodyguards behind him, she needed to appreciate him for standing up for her.

"T... Thank you so much, Sir. I really appreciate your help."

The man nodded his head. Without saying anything, he stared deeply at her and Samantha felt cold shivers run down her spine. The look on the man's face was like that of a predator staring at its prey.

Suddenly, his cold face brightened and he smiled briefly at her. It was a way of trying to give Samantha a sense of assurance that he was not going to harm her. However, Samantha thought that the smile was awkward.

"T... Thank you once again." She stammered and turned to go back inside the party. She wanted to go find her friend because it was time for them to go home.

"Wait." The man's voice halted her, causing her heart to skip and she let out a gasp.

"Sir. Is there anything I can do for you?"

The man nodded at her and at that moment, her heart began to beat chaotically. What does he want from her?

"What is your name?" The words came out from his lips when she was thinking the worst.

"Oh, my name." She sighed inwardly, forced a smile at the strange man and the mean looking guards behind him.

"My name is Samantha."

"Nice name for a beautiful lady like you." The response came spontaneously and his tone was lighter and conveyed happy emotions.

"My name is Robert... Robert Brown. It's nice to meet you Samantha. If you don't mind, I'd like to drop you off at your house."

Samantha forced a smile at him. "Nice to meet you too. And thank you for the offer, I'll pass."

Without waiting for him to say anything else, Samantha hurried out of his sight and proceeded inside to drag her friend out.

"Sam." Robert repeated the name with a smile on his face, turned to the two men behind and instructed.

"I need you to follow her around and report to me everything that goes on with her. However, anyone that tries to harm her again, you know what to do to them."

"Yes Boss." The men echoed together.

At the Howells' residence the next morning, Samantha was called out by her parents. They were visibly very angry and she could not fathom what had gone wrong.

As usual, their favorite daughter stood beside them there in the sitting room. The place at the moment was like a courtroom to Samantha and her parents were the judges deciding on her case.

"Sam, what happened last night? What is it that I heard?" Steven Howell was the first to speak, his voice stern and serious.

"Yes, tell us because I don't get you. Do you want to put us in trouble?" Alice added and her words shocked Samantha.

She was confused. How could she possibly put her family in trouble when all she did was mind her business.

What has Belinda told their parents about her?

"I... I don't understand." Samantha stammered. "Mom, what do you mean if I want to put you guys in trouble? I'd never do anything that'll bring harm to any of you because you're my family and I love..."

"Hold it right there. Please, save us those lies." Belinda raised her hand as she cut her words short.

"We all know that you don't love this family. All you do is to cause trouble." She added and Samantha gaped at her.

How does she cause trouble for the family? Belinda was exaggerating and clearly stating the opposite.

She was the one always looking for trouble and worse was that their parents supported everything she did to Samantha.

"You've joined the wrong company, Samantha and have exposed us to danger." Alice said to the still confused lady.

"I don't understand what you're talking about."

"Well, you'll soon understand because you're leaving this house now. You're old enough and get a house of your own." Steven spoke those words and it sounded like she didn't hear him well.

Her own father was chasing her out of the house. Really?

With the way she was being treated in that house, Samantha used to wonder if she was really their daughter.

It didn't look like the same blood was running through their veins.

Without waiting for the instruction, Belinda raced towards Samantha's room and soon came down with her luggages.

"Leave this house now before you make us the target of a Mafia Lord." Belinda said coldly and it was at that moment that she understood what was going on.

Belinda had fed their parents with lies about her.

"Yeah, go away if you truly love your family. This is how to prove it by keeping them safe." Alice added with a snort.

"But Mom, you didn't even ask me what happened and went ahead to believe Belinda. Truly, I don't know that man from anywhere. He only came and stood up for me when Belinda and Timon were bullying me."

Samantha darted her eyes towards her sister and gave her a dirty look. She obviously didn't tell their parents that part of the story.

Well, their parents would still stand by Belinda regardless of what she told them.

They'd always find fault in everything she does.

"Leave immediately." Belinda shoved her luggages to the ground and angrily rushed towards her but her mother swiftly stood on the way.

"This is exactly what we're talking about. You are also violent and can't continue staying here. Moreover, you're old enough to be on your way so leave."

Samantha was twenty four years and was only a year older than her sister. However, their parents treated Belinda like a baby and better than Samantha.

Angrily, Alice shoved Samantha so hard that she slipped and fell. Fortunately, a large hand grabbed onto her, preventing the fall.

Chapter 3 3.

Samantha, who was expecting to be on the ground could not comprehend what was happening.

Who just caught her from falling?

Out of curiosity, she turned her face and it met with some cold gray eyes. They were staring down at her. As their eyes met, she let out a gasp and froze.

It was the mean looking guy from the party who stood up for her. But how was he at her house and at such a time?

"Are you ok?" He asked Samantha who nodded repeatedly.

Awkwardly, Samantha tried to help herself up but could not. However, Robert helped her instead.

As he exchanged looks with her family, she could see the terror in their faces. The atmosphere was quite tense and they were visibly afraid of Robert and what he could do to them.

'And why is he at our house? Did he come to save Samantha just like the previous night.'

That was the thought running through Belinda's head. However, she didn't dare utter a word.

As the man and owner of the house, Steven summoned some courage to confront Robert for barging into their house and invading their privacy.

"Who are you and what are you doing here? Do you know that you're trespassing? This is my house and you can't just barge into it."

At that moment, Samantha was confused. She was about to say something but Robert spoke first and in her defense.

"From what I gathered, Samantha is your eldest daughter so why is she being treated like an outsider?" Robert said to Steven with a deadpan expression.

"What business of yours is it on how I run my house? Look, Mr. If you don't leave this place now, I'm calling the cops on you."

"Hmph." Robert scoffed. The cops mean nothing to him. He's not threatened by them.

Stretching out her hands, Alice nudged her husband. She didn't want him to get into an argument with such a person. The man looks dangerous.

Seeing how he was trying to defend Samantha, Alice concluded that he must be the same person Belinda told them about.

Alice turned to the man and spoke calmly. "Sir, pardon my husband. He means no disrespect. Please, have a seat. What can I get for you?"

Alice was trying to salvage the situation by not getting Robert more angry.

Ignoring the woman, Robert's eyes darted towards Belinda. Their eyes met and she quickly tilted her head.

The man turned back his gaze to the couple before him. After a moment of silence, he gave them a stern warning.

"If any of you tries to bully Sam again, you'll have me to contend with."

Without another word, he snapped his hands and two guards appeared before him, stunning everyone the more.

They were the ones who had been sent to keep Samantha safe. They decided to spy on the family with a telescope and saw that Samantha was not being treated well.

Swiftly, they called Robert and he abandoned all that he was doing and rushed towards the Howells' residence. He came in just at the nick of time to catch Samantha from falling and getting hurt.

Turning to the guards, he ordered. "Take her luggages to the car."

Without any questions, the men obeyed and took away Samantha's bags.

"Come on Sam, let's get you out of here." Robert said to her and she gaped at his face, still stunned.

In Robert's eyes, Samantha saw love and concern for her. She wondered why a stranger cared so much about her.

Her family was seeing him as a monster but his actions towards her were far from monstrous.

She had some questions to ask him but at that moment, her mouth was shut. It could not open to say anything.

After staring for some time at her wicked family, she turned around and began to walk away with Robert. A stranger.

To her, a stranger was better than family.

Following behind to go to the man's Porsche car, Samantha suddenly stopped on her tracks and turned to face Robert.

"Sir, where are you taking me?"

"To my home. You'll be safe there." Robert replied and continued towards the car. However, Samantha was not following behind.

Turning around, he learned that Samantha was still behind.

With furrowed brows, Robert walked back to meet her.

He reached out and held her hands. Tilting his head, he stared deeply at her eyes as if he was trying to read her thoughts.

"Tell me, what is the problem? Why are you not coming with me?"

"It's true that you stood up for me but I don't even know who you are. I'm sorry, I can't follow you." Samantha retorted and saw that dark expression on his face.

Robert was not happy with her statement. Could she not see that he meant no harm to her?

As it stands, he won't want to see any harm befall her. Even her tears were not allowed to drop unless they were for a good cause.

From that night, Robert had taken a liking to her.

"Why?" He inquired while still staring at her.

Although he looked mean, Samantha admitted that he was good looking. Maybe it was the tattoos on his body that people were afraid of.

"I already told you. I can't follow you to your house, you're a stranger to me. Thank you for standing up for me and coming to help me but I'm sorry to disappoint you."

"I can't go to your place. I'd rather go and stay with my friend."

At that moment, Samantha thought about Stephany, her best friend who was always there for her. She was yet to tell her about the night incident because she hadn't gotten the time.

Stephany was busy enjoying the party that night and didn't ask her anything about what she went to do outside.

"I promise to keep you safe. No one will ever hurt you again. Just come with me." Robert probed further but Samantha stood her ground.

"I can't."

Just then, one of the guards rushed towards Robert and gave him his phone which was ringing. It was an important client so Robert hastily took the phone, picked the call and excused himself.

In less than a minute, he was back and saw Samantha making her way to her luggages. She wanted to take them and hail a cab. However, Robert made some eye signals with the two men.

Without wasting any more time, they took hold of Samantha and forcefully carried her into the car.
