My Name is URESA and this is my story

"I can't believe this is real, am finally getting married to the man of my dreams" I smiled at my mom who could not stop admiring her daughter in her wedding gown.

"Am so happy for you my dear, today is all about you so don't stop smiling "my mom said.

My sister suddenly opened the door to my room, "Big sis, the car is here already, it's time for you to go" my sister said and left immediately.

"Come, it's time for you to go or else you will be late for your wedding," my mom said.

I got into the car and was taken to the wedding hall, on arriving there; I was shocked to see the number of crowds waiting for me outside. I stepped down from the car and headed inside the hall only to behold my dashing husband-to-be standing at the altar with a big smile on his face. Seeing him made my heart skip a beat, I can't believe I'll finally be called someone's wife. The feeling alone was killing me, I didn't even realize I was already standing in front of him.

In the blink of an eye, we exchanged rings and wedding vows and were soon congratulated by family members and friends.

I sat next to my husband as I watched my friends dancing to entertain us, "I can't wait to get home," my husband whispered to my ears. "What? Are you tired already?" I asked him. "No, I just can't wait to be alone with my wife," he said and I blushed.

It was finally time to bid my family farewell, I had promised my mom that I wouldn't cry but who am I kidding, I cried a lot even before the wedding and right now I could not stop crying even after entering the car. my husband tried persuading me but it was not helping at all, I felt empty and I hated that feeling.

I tried looking out the window as the car sped off to calm myself a bit with the view but then suddenly I noticed a strange figure amid the forest. I told my husband but he told me it must have been a deer.

After hours of driving, the driver suddenly stops. "What's wrong?" I asked him and then he told me to look ahead. I did as he said and then suddenly saw troops of people rushing towards our car. My husband was sound asleep and it was already dark. I asked the driver to pull back immediately and he was about to do just that when he suddenly noticed another set of them coming from behind us. I thought they were going to attack us but they were attacking each other. At first, I thought they were humans until when I saw their eyes glowing in the dark. Whatever they were doing was not affecting us at first until when they started burning up the whole street with fire coming from their hands. I quickly woke my husband up and we both got out of the car and headed straight into the forest to run away from those weird creatures.

We ran as fast as our legs could carry us but with my wedding gown, I could not run any further so I told my husband. "I can't go any further dear, my legs hurt"

"Fine, let's rest a bit," he said and we sat on a log. As we were resting, those same creatures suddenly surrounded us, with the way they dressed, you could mistake them for humans but I was certain they were not. I was still busy feeding my curiosity when I suddenly heard one of them telling the rest of them to kill us because we had seen them. Upon hearing those words, my husband took a stick and decided to face them head-on but before he could even move his arm, he was stabbed in the heart. I stood up and held my dying husband in my hands. "Please! Please! Don't close your eyes" I said to him as I watched him shut his two eyes. They were about to attack me too when a strange man suddenly appeared and started to attack them. Without thinking twice I stood up and ran for my life, I ran as fast as my leg could carry me but only to find myself at that same spot, I turned around and saw my husband on the ground and that other man, I tried to look at him only to see that his eyes were also glowing. I couldn't take it anymore so I just collapsed.

My name is Uresa and this is MY STORY...

I woke up the next day or maybe I thought it was. I found myself on a large bed, I tried looking around the room, "This room does looks so familiar," I said. I stood up from the bed and was about to head out when I suddenly noticed the pictures on the bedroom walls, "This is Andrew, my husband"

I heard a knock on the door, "come in," I said and the door opened. "Good morning dear" the voice said. I looked up, it was sister-in-law; Andrew elder sister.

"Sister-in-law, good morning" I said and moved close to her.

"How did I get here and how did you even find me..." I asked. "What did you mean, your husband brought you home of course," she said.

"My husband?" I was surprised. "Maybe it was all a nightmare" I assured myself.

"Where is he right now?" I asked.

"He is waiting for you downstairs with the rest of the family," she said. I was about to leave the room, "Are you going out like that" she said pointing to my dress. I did not even realize I was still in my wedding dress. "Oh, I'll get dress right away" I said and went to the bathroom.

I was dressed up, I didn't even bother putting on any make-up, I was only thinking about my husband. I hurried downstairs and saw everyone at the dining table ready to have breakfast, I looked round the dining room for my husband but he was not there. "What's wrong Uresa did you lost something?" my mother-in-law asked. "I'm looking for my husband," I said. The whole family burst into a heavy laughter. "What's so funny?" I said to myself. "Your husband is right there" sister-in-law said pointing her hand to one of the chairs in the dining table. I turned around to see the person sitting on the chair was .... A total stranger. I moved back immediately I saw his face clearly, it is him... the strange man I saw that night ... "What's wrong my dear wife?" he said in a sweet voice. I looked at the family; they all were acting natural like as if it was actually Andrew, my husband.

I sat down next to the stranger but made no eye contact with him. "What's going on, am I finally losing it or what," I kept pondering on mind. "Why are you not eating Uresa?" my father-in-law asked. "Am fine dad" I said. I stood up from the chair and went up to my husband room that is also now my room.

I took a deep breath, and sat on the bed. The door flung open and the strange man came inside. I stood up immediately in fright, "what are you doing here" I asked him. He moved close to me, "Are you okay?" he asked me. "You collapsed last night on the ground," he added.

"Why are you here pretending to be my husband" I asked him. He sat on the bed next to me. "Only you and I know that am not your husband," he whispered. "I know a lot is going through your mind right now so feel free to ask and I will gladly answer," he added.

"Where is my husband?"

"He is dead; you saw what happen that night didn't you?"

"Then why are you here"

"I'm looking for someone and I needed to blend in so as not to be caught"

"Why pretend to be my husband then"

"That's because he is dead and never coming back anyway"

"Why is the whole family calling you my husband?"

"That's because they are seeing Andrew and you are seeing the real person that is me"

"Why are you telling me all this?" I asked

"Why? Don't you want to want to know the truth before you die?" he said and I was shocked again.

"You are dying Uresa and that's all because of me" he said.

"Why?"

"I planted a poison inside of you and once it germinates you will die," he stated.

"Why?" I asked again

"I don't trust humans" he said, "and as you have already know, I am not a human," he added.

I stood up from the bed and was about to head out when he suddenly grab my arm. "Don't you dare tell anyone the truth or else you will lose your family" he said with a serious look on his face.

I quickly removed my arm from his strong grip and ran out of the room.

I took one of the cars in the garage and went out, I didn't know where I was going exactly but I just wanted to drive or maybe even run. I was really scared, how could things change so quickly.

FLASHBACK

I was standing at the entrance of the college after finishing my papers, suddenly Andrew appeared from nowhere "BOOM!" Andrew said.

"You are late, again?" I said.

"Is that why you are angry?" he asked.

"Do you even know how it feels to wait for someone and the person does not even show up" I said.

He pulled me close and placed his hands around my waist, "Am sorry" he said.

I looked at him and all I could do was to smile, "I knew it, you just can't get angry with me, can you?" he said releasing his arms from my waist.

"You just wait for us to get married, I will show you my other side" I said.

"Oh! Am scared already" he said teasing me.

"Stop it!" I said walking away from him.

END OF FLASHBACK

I stopped the car immediately, "Am sorry Andrew, am really sorry!" I cried out loud hitting the car over and over again.

After several hours, I decided to go home. Upon arriving home I saw the whole family in the siting room watching a video, they saw me and they paused the video. "Uresa, what took you so long?" sister-in-law said.

"No one should please disturb my wife" the strange guy said as he stood up and ushered me to sit next to me.

" Awwwwn..." the whole family said.

I ignored them all and looked up to see what they were all watching; it was a video clip of when had graduated from college. They resumed the video from where it had stopped, and then I saw Andrew.

THE VIDEO

"Congratulations to a special and amazing person, Uresa, you are one of the best thing that has ever happened to me. I know today is not about us but you, but I can't help it, I just have to say this; I love you Uresa" Andrew said staring at the camera.

"I don't when we might actually get to watch this clip, but I hope we get to watch it together as a ... couple" he blushed and then the video ended.

The whole family was making sounds like "awwwwn..." "That's so cute"

But all I could was to cry; I decided to go up to my room before anyone noticed the tears in my eyes. But what I didn't know was that the strange guy was watching my whole reaction during the video and even after the video ended, he followed me. While I was busy crying my heart out in the room, he stood at the door listening...

"She must be truly heartbroken..." he finally said.

I was still busy crying when I heard a knock on the door, I wiped my tears away thinking it might be one of the family members at the door. I stood up and opened the door only to see the strange guy at my doorstep.

"Can I come in?" he asked. I walked away from the door leaving it open. He entered just as I had expected and sat on a stool next to the bed while I sat on the bed.

"Do you want to go out with me?" he asked.

I looked up hoping to see him laugh cause it felt like a kind of joke to me but instead, he looked serious. "We can go to your favorite place," he said.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"Am trying to play the role of a husband here!" he said.

"Stop, I didn't remember telling you to pretend to be my husband, you can act in front of the rest of the family but when we are alone, no need for that" I explained.

He looked at me in silence for some seconds before finally speaking, "why were you crying back then?" he asked.

"My husband is dead! And I have to pretend like everything is okay even when am dying, is that not enough reason for me to cry" I said angrily.

"Why are you angry, I only asked a question," he said. "Well your question sounds stupid," I said.

He rested his back on the stool as he kept looking at me, it was like something was bothering him but he just wouldn't spit it out and I was not ready to make him.

I looked at the time, it was 9:00 pm already, and I stood up from the bed and went to the bathroom to have my bath. After taking my bath I went to bed to sleep, as I was about to off the lights; I noticed the guy was not in the room. "Did he go out at night...?" I said looking around the room, suddenly I heard a sound coming from the window so I decided to look, and on getting there I saw him sitting at the edge of the window with his back facing me.

"HEY! You might fall from there" I said pulling him back, only for me to see that his eyes were glowing with the color blue. I quickly let go of his hands and was about to slip and fall when he suddenly grabbed me by the waist. My eyes were still closed but then I had to open it when I noticed I was not falling. I opened my eyes only to see his blue eyes staring at me, at that moment I realized his hands were on my waist and mine around his neck.

I quickly let go of him and brushed my hair aside. "I thought you were going to fall that's why I pulled you," I said to him.

He didn't say a word, he just kept quiet. I turned around to look at him but his eyes were still glowing. "Why are your eyes glowing?" I asked looking away. "I can't see in the dark so my eyes glow in the dark" he said. Upon hearing his words I quickly put the lights back on and just like he had said his eyes went back to normal.

I sat on the bed and he sat on the stool, "Why were you not sleeping?" I asked. "I don't sleep at night" he answered. "I sleep in the day" he added.

"Don't worry, I won't do anything stupid" he said and was about to leave the room.

"Why do you want to kill me" I asked suddenly.

He turned around and looked at me. "You don't look like that type of a person to me" I added.

"You once said that you don't trust humans, is that why you want to kill me" I asked. He moved close to me and then paused for a minute before finally speaking, "Then give me a reason to trust you" he said.
