Author's POV
"Silly girl" Hernier yelled as she pushed Mila out of the kitchen, slapping her twice, "you are so useless, you should be grateful I still let you stay in this house"
Mila held onto the sides of the door as she picked herself up, trembling, pain courses through her whole body, but she was used to it, the pain gives her reasons to be alive, on numerous occasions has she tried to end her life, but it was all futile, she couldn't die and didn't want to live anymore.
"Lower your gaze.. bitch, how dare you look in me in the eyes", Hernier shouted as she reached for Mila throwing more punches
Mila lowered her gaze as she endured all of Henier's beating without making a sound, she fixed her eyes on the floor, while Henier kept on beating her, she could feel her consciousness slipping away slowly, and then she fainted.
"Griven..."Henier yelled, as Griven appeared in the kitchen, where Hernier was, "Get her to her room and make sure she is awake before the tiger's time to prepare dinner" Henier stated as she kicked Mila who was unconscious and walked out of the Kitchen.
Griven picked Mila up from the floor and proceeds to carry her back to her room, on his way he was met with Jeanne,
"What is wrong with this weakling again"? She asked blocking Griven's path,
"My lady, Mila has fainted,I need to take her back to her room to administer treatments" Griven replied
"Is that so..but there's is nothing a glass of Cold water cannot fix" she said calmly as we walked back to the table raising a glass of water, as she raises the glass to pour the water on Mila, her hand freezes on air,
"Griven take Mila to her room and let me know if she needs anything", Jude Jillian said as he walked down the stairs approaching his Sister, and where Griven stood,
"Yes Master" Griven said as he turns around to take Mila back to her room,
Leaving the brother and sister duo to themselves,
"Why did you do that"? Jeanne yelled as Jude released her hands as she throws the glass towards him,
"My my sister, seems the loss of your sweet husband has driven you to the brink of insanity, Since you became widowed there's hardly any peace left in this house, and leave Mila alone it's not her fault that she is incredibly beautiful" Jude replied calmly as he chuckled while taking a seat,
"You are always on her side, never on my side" Jeanne yelled as she threw everything on the table fuming in anger,
"What can I say sister? It's not Mila's fault that your husband is dead, neither is it our fault, give her some break, direct your anger towards something else you know the annual celebration is coming up, you can attract a suitable Lord or someone worthy of you, Jude stated as he leaves the room leaving Jeanne to her thoughts.
Griven lays Mila on the bed as she checks her pulse, holding her hands he whispers a spell, this went on for a while as Mila's body system was already weak conjoined with the beatings, Mila's pulse remained low,
Griven decided to go out and get some herbs because his spells weren't working on Mila anymore.
Few hours later he returned back to Mila's room and he noticed she was already awake, although very weak bit she had regained consciousness,
"Mila dear...sit up and have this brew, it will help your injuries and the pains you feel, Griven said as he helped Mila to sit up,
Mila took the brew and drank it all at once, "howw.. manyy..ho..urs to tiger's time"? She asked weakly,
"Less than an hour but you wouldn't be able to make it Mila, I suggest you rest and I will handle it, remain in your room" Griven said as he takes the bowl away from her hands,
"But...what...about Madam...she specifically wanted lamb broth for dinner tonight and you can't handle the sight of meat Griven just let me do it, Mila protested again,
"Shh...girl I will handle it, get some rest and no matter what do not come upstairs, I will bring in some food after dinner, Griven replied as he takes the bowl from Mila,
" Thank you so much Griven, I don't know what I will do without you", Mila
said as she lays back while Griven tucks her in.
Griven smiles at her and leaves the room leaving Mila all alone
Mila stared into the darkness as she thought of her bad her life has become, she vaguely remember the death of her parents and why her uncle offered to take her in, Ten years of staying in the Jillian's household yet they had never accepted her,the only way to escape this is to find her mate, but without any freedom that seemed almost impossible.
Things has gone awry for her uncle's business so he had to lay off some workers although he kept Sera the Housekeeper, she was the oldest worker the Jillian's household had ever had. She had a very close relationship with Mila and has always looked after her, then her niece came along, Nina and they bonded pretty well.
This made Henier really angry as Mila became happier with Nina she then convinced her husband to Sera and her niece away.
Thus, all the house chores were up to Mila to handle, until Griven came along.
Mila slept off while waiting for Griven to bring some food for her as he promised.
Meanwhile, Griven was facing an angry Henier as dinner was served, Griven had prepared basic meals and this made Henier and her daughter really angry.
"What condition is Mila in that she wasn't able to cook dinner tonight Griven"? Henier asked fuming in anger.
" Her condition is critical Madam, she..." but Jeanne didn't wait for Griven to finish off his statement.
"Even if she is dying she would have still prepared the food" she retorted.
"Forgive me Madame", Griven said as he bowed his head.
Hernier and Jeanne hissed and left the dining room without touching any of the food that was prepared.
AUTHOR'S POV
The next day, Henier didn't wait for Mila to recover from the beatings.
She was sent to the market of a neighboring pack to get some fabrics Henier and Jeanne needed for the upcoming anniversary celebration.
Mila walked all around the market but couldn't find the same quality of the fabric Henier wanted specifically.
As she approached another stall, she met some wolves checking out some materials too.
"Look at her, she still dares to show her face in public, Even my baby brother had enough strength compared to her, she doesn't even deserve to be called an omega she is just a weakling and nothing more
One of the girls who was also shopping for fabrics insulted Mila but Mila kept quiet and did not utter a word.
Other girls joined the first one who had insulted Mila as they rained more and more insults on Mila, but Mila was unaffected by this and this angered them more.
The stall owner chased the other girls from his stall and luckily for Mila he had the exact quality of Fabric Henier requested.
Mila was done with her purchase and decided to take a shorter route through the woods back home but she was cornered by the previous girls she met at the stall.
"Look who we have here.. one of the girls shouted as they circled Mila,
"You made the stall owner chase us away and now you are going to pay for it" another one chipped in.
Please don't hurt me, ple..ase I am sorry, Mila begged as she fell on his knees,
This was her everyday life, constant bullying from other members of the pack, since the day she couldn't shift, she has become an object of ridicule for the pack members.
While Mila was still on her knees begging, one of the girls dragged the fabrics Mila had bought and shredded into pieces.
"Please...please don't do that" Mila cried as she held onto the girl's leg trying to drag the fabric away but it was futile.
The girls then suddenly shifted into their wolf form and started chasing Mila.
Mila ran with all her strength but she couldn't outrun them, there were five in number and in no time they had cornered Mila.
The wolves pranced around Mila, but she kept on begging them.
As one of the wolves jumped to attack Mila, a big brown wolf appeared right in front of Mila and scratched the other wolf.
Mila had closed her eyes, in fright as she thought she was about to get killed by the wolf. But as she re-opened her eyes, she was surprised to see the wolf fighting off the other wolves.
She saw someone walking towards her....a female, and at this point the other wolf had scared others away and they ran away.
When the female got close to Mila
Mila was shocked it was NINA.Her childhood friend.
"Don't tell me your have forgotten me so soon" Nina said
"How can I?" Mila replied, giving Nina a hug.
"Ninaaa, I miss you" Mila screamed.
She hugged Nina who had a huge smile on her face.
"I miss you too Mila" Nina replied, returning the hug.
"What about aunt Sera, how have you been? And who is this?" Mila asked.
"Aunt Sera is fine, you need to worry about the wolf" Mila said as she signaled the wolf to leave.
As the wolf turned back to leave, Mila shouted "thank you" and the wolf gave her one last glance before sprinting away.
"What are you doing here though?" Nina asked.
"I came to the market to get some materials for Madam Hernia and Jeanne, oh noo the fabrics' ' Mila said as she picked up the torn fabrics.
"Oh no, Aunt Hernia is going to kill me, '' Milla added softly, tears threatening to spill from her eyes.
"Mila, don't cry, okay, we will fix it,"Nina said, drawing Mila in for a hug.
It took a while for Mila to calm down and put herself together but she finally did.
"Let's go get another fabric, then we see Aunt Sera," Mila urged.
"But it's getting late, you know how Aunt Henier Is, she calculates everything, if I get home late I will be in serious trouble" Mila argued.
"Don't you want to buy the fabrics again?" Nina asked convincingly.
"Of course I do, but Nina we need to hurry up" Mila said.
Nina took Mila back to the market as she told her everything that had happened since they left the house.
The pack they lived in now was quite close to the market Mila usually visits to buy things.
When they got to the stall, Mila requested for the same fabrics from the stall owner.
"Sorry child, but I don't have the fabrics anymore, not too long ago someone bought the last bundle" The store owner said and Mila's heart fell.
She was doomed for sure, Aunt Henier was going to kill her and she wouldn't survive it.
"Nina, what do you do now?" Mila asked crying, she couldn't control herself anymore, her sore body cannot take on another round of beating.
"Listen to me Mila, nothing is going to happen.
MILA'S POV
"So, you expect me to be a fool and believe all you just said?" Hernia questioned me, her eyes roving around my body as she equally walked around me. I could feel my heart racing, while my palms had suddenly become sweaty.
I knew it. It was just like I told Nina. She was never going to believe me. This woman was smarter than even the goddess herself.
"Have you suddenly gone deaf?" She whacked me harder on my neck that I staggered, almost falling to the ground. I cried and hissed in so much pain at the sting of the slap I felt at the exact spot she had hit me.
"I'm sorry. I - I -" I tried my possible best to swallow back the tears that threatened to trickle down my cheeks while I spoke. The last thing I wanted was another round of grave beating from her if she caught me crying.
"Speak up, you dimwit!" She yelled furiously at me, and I shook in fear. I summoned enough courage to look up to her when I was sure I would not tear down in tears.
"I am not lying. It's the truth." I said to her.
Again, I had to summon the courage of not shaking, and my mouth not quivering when I told the lie. If I dared her to suspect I was lying, and she finds out that it is eventually true, that would definitely be the end of me.
Who knows? This could be the time when she would throw me into the dungeons.
"You mean to tell me that every stall in that market do not have the exact fabric I want. Is that it? Huh!" She yelled again, taking closer steps towards me.
"Yes ma. That is the truth. I was asked to come tomorrow." I said to her again, hoping my last statement was going to make her realize that I could eventually not be telling a lie.
"Hmm." She scoffed, and resumed walking around me.
Sooner than I expected, she burst into a deafening but dangerous laughter. I swallowed hard when she stopped, and I didn't see her in front of me. It only meant that she was practically behind me. But doing what? I wondered.
"You know Mila," she began, and I could feel her hand travel down my body from behind, sending a cold, chilly feeling down my spine.
Truth be told, it was just a weird action because she had never done something like that before. Unless she was cooking up something sinister. And that thought alone scared the hell out of me.
"I had planned that when you come back home with the fabric, your workload would reduce so you can rest early enough. But at this point," she made a clicking sound with her tongue. "You can't do that." She finalized, and I felt my heart sink into my chest. I was no fool not to understand what she meant.
"Now, you're going to come with me, and we would go back to the market. I would like to ask the stall owners myself." She said.
"Oh, God." I cried deep inside me. What was I going to do now?
"Let's move now." She urged as she walked forward.
"But it's late. They must have closed." I found myself saying before I could even realize the gravity of my words.
"How dare you talk back at me?" She landed a revolting slap across my face. This time, my strength could no longer stand up to it that I fell weakly to the ground. At that same moment, I felt the hot, burning tears begin to trickle down my face while I still held on to the spot she had slapped me.
"Come here, you piece of shit." She didn't stop there. She walked towards me and began to drag me towards the door by my hair. I could do nothing but cry. I knew that none of my pleas were going to make any sense to her. So, why try in the first place?
The pain, I felt, intensified when the dragging didn't stop. Thanks to her large bedroom, the previous bruising I had gotten from the wolves at the market added to the pain. All of these would have been easier if I was a wolf, an actual wolf with her powers, so I could heal.
Before she could open the door, it burst open, revealing my uncle, her husband, in the person of Aaron Jillian.
"What is going on here?" His deep, yet scary voice resounded in my ears.
"I'm only trying to teach this useless omega a lesson she would never forget." Hernia responded. Her hands were still in my hair, ready to continue dragging the moment her husband moved out of the way.
"I think it's enough for the lesson. Whatever the problem might be, it can be sorted out tomorrow." He said, and walked in. He didn't even bother sparing me a look.
Even if I couldn't see the expression on Hernia's face, I could tell that she was livid, considering the renewed strong grip on my hair.
If she was equally surprised, I was also surprised because this was the first time Aaron was bailing me out of a punishment without even wanting to know what the problem might be.
When he was sitting on the wooden chair, close to his bed, I had a perfect view of him, and I could see from the expression on his face that there was something wrong. He must have had a bad day, I guess.
"Aaron." She called out his name, but nothing came from him. Not even a stare.
Before I could even process any thoughts, Hernia left hold of my hair, and stood behind me.
"Now, crawl on your knees to your quarters." She said, her expression producing a deadly stare.
"Griven!" She called out, "make sure she crawls to her room"
