Chapter 1 I

DAMIEN Point Of View

I gulped down the last sip of my drink and grinned at Jason, who was already lost in the music, he was rocking a lady who he met few minutes ago. They were both lost in their own world, and it seems like he is in for a good night.

I leaned back and glanced around The City Nights, one of Italy's most exclusive clubs.

It was well-known for its wild parties, endless drinks, and beautiful people.

The kind of place where you could lose yourself for a few hours, and every so often, it is accurately what I want.

The DJ dropped one of the hottest tracks of the month, and the crowd started screaming, bodies were grinding, arms were raised in the air, and mouths were screaming lyrics they barely even knew. The disco ball spun across the ceiling, scattering rainbow bursts of light that danced over every surface like magic.

Everywhere smelt of sweat, expensive perfume, and alcohol, but it only added to the intoxicating energy that filled the room.

I turned my attention back to the bar and reached out for my glass again, but I didn't get the chance to take another sip.

I felt a soft, manicured hand slide over mine, stopping me mid-motion.

I looked up, and damn...

She was stunning.

Blonde. Legs for days. Sultry, smoky eyes that practically begged to be disobeyed.

Her red dress looked like it had been poured onto her body. It was tight, shimmery, and sinful. She bit her bottom lip slowly as her eyes trailed me from up to down like I was already naked.

"You know," she purred with a voice low and smooth that made my heart race, "it is a crime to sit alone in a place like this when you look that dangerously hot."

I smirked, letting my gaze travel over her.

"Then maybe you should call the cops."

She giggled and stepped closer.

She smelt so nice.

"No need for that," she whispered as she brushed a finger along my jawline.

"I think I would rather handle this kind of crime myself."

I caught her wrist gently and pulled her close in a slow and deliberate manner.

Then, I wrapped her arms around my neck.

Our faces were just inches apart now.

I could feel her breath on me.

"Then punish me," I murmured, brushing my lips lightly against her ear.

"The criminal is all yours."

She grinned and tilted her head.

"Cocky and handsome? You are just asking for trouble."

"And you are trouble worth asking for."

She leaned even closer with her lips a breath away from mine.

"I bet you say that to all the women you have met."

I chuckled as I trailed a finger along her bare shoulder.

"Only the ones who look like they were made to ruin men."

Her eyes sparkled with amusement and desire.

"Room 306," she whispered as she dragged her lips along my cheek.

"I will be waiting."

She pulled away, giving me one last heated look before turning toward the stairs, her hips swaying to the seductive rhythm of the music.

Every step was a silent invitation.

As she disappeared, I hopped off the bar counter and turned to find Jason standing just a few feet away.

His arms were crossed, his expression flat with his jaw tight.

He looked at me like he would just kick a puppy.

I winked at him.

He shook his head.

Righteous Jason.

First person to dive into bed with a stranger, but when I do it, suddenly he is all Mr. Morals.

Honestly, this man needs to stop acting like my personal conscience.

I shrugged off his silent disapproval, and I made my way toward the stairs and stopped in front of Room 306.

I knocked twice.

When the door opened, my mouth parted at the sight before me.

She leaned lazily against the doorframe, now in nothing but red lingerie that looked like it was sewn from sin itself.

Her hair was tousled, her lips parted, and her smirk?

Wicked.

"You are late," she said with a pout.

"I was about to start without you."

"I had to survive the glare of my uptight best friend downstairs."

"Well," she purred, walking her fingers up my chest,

"you are here now. Let's not waste any more time."

I didn't move just yet. I leaned closer, letting my knuckles graze her thigh.

"You always pick up strange men in clubs?" I asked, teasing.

"Only the ones who look like trouble wrapped in a suit," she whispered.

"The ones who I know won't ask for my number after."

I grinned.

"Lucky for you, I'm exactly that kind of trouble."

"Good," she smirked, her fingers tugging on my shirt collar.

"Because I don't do romance. I do chaos. Heat. Lust."

She dragged me in, letting the door swing shut behind us with a soft click.

"I'm going to fuck your brains out tonight," she said boldly, stepping back toward the bed.

I stalked forward, closing the distance between us, letting my breath brush her lips.

"Let's see who ends up blowing whose mind tonight."

Then I kissed her hard.

Her lips were soft, painted red, eager, and warm.

She matched my pace, moaning softly as I lifted her up and walked her to the bed.

Every touch, every kiss, was reckless, hot, and wild.

Later, I pulled up my boxers, grabbed the used condom, and tossed it into the bin without a second thought.

She was already zipping up her dress, turning to me with a playful wink.

"Thanks for the night, handsome. You were amazing."

I gave her a lazy smile. "Thanks for the compliment, sweetheart. But I wish I could say the same about you. I expected more."

She blinked.

"Guess there is no use crying over spilled milk. Better luck next time."

Her jaw dropped slightly.

"You are ridiculous," she snapped, shooting me a glare before stomping toward the door.

Then she slammed it shut.

I smirked at the door, letting out a low chuckle.

Serves you right for leaving these marks on my body.

I sighed as I headed for the bathroom with a towel in hand.

As I wiped the sweat from my hair, my phone buzzed on the counter.

"Esmelrada, My Wife."

Chapter 2 II

Damien Point of view

My lips split into a smile when I heard her melodious voice.

"Hello Damien! Where are you? You didn't come home last night. I hope I have not disturbed you?"

I chuckled at her sweet yet hesitant voice.

"Where would I be? Of course, in the office. I told you, right, that I have some unfinished business at work, and yes, my love, you can never disturb me."

"Oh! I totally forgot you told me that. I got worried when you didn't answer my calls and messages last night," her gloomy voice reached my ears, and I closed my eyes in frustration.

"I am sorry, love. You know that I will never do it intentionally. I just got so busy that I lost track of time. But sweetie, I feel like something else is bothering you. You aren't sounding well."

I waited for a few minutes before I heard her voice again, filled with disappointment.

"Yesterday was our first wedding anniversary, damien."

Fuck!

It's one year already?

So fast

I had no idea.

"I am genuinely sorry, love. I don't know how it just slipped out of my mind. I am such an idiot. You must have done lots of preparation and hard work to make our day memorable and must be waiting for me, and I spoiled everything like always," I ranted while running a hand through my hair.

"It is completely okay, Damien. I know you have such big responsibilities on your shoulders. It was just an anniversary. We have been each other's companions for a year now. Do you really think we need any particular day to celebrate our love for each other? As long as we are together, every day is special for me."

My heart softened on hearing her voice.

It was so full of innocence and love.

Is she for real?

Maybe this is her only quality that makes her different from others.

I walked toward the shelf, carried a mini-bar bottle, and made myself a drink.

"Thank you, Esmeralda. Thank you so much for coming into my life. I don't know what I would have done without you. But I assure you that I will make it up to you tonight."

"Damien, I told you right! You don't-"

I interrupted her gently,

"I will do it because I want to, not because I need to. I love you, precious."

I caressed the edges of the glass and smiled, knowing deep down that I was finally heading in the right direction...towards making things right with her.

"I love you too, Damien. Come back soon," she whispered softly before ending the call.

I kept the phone on the table and walked over to the window to take in the view of the busy streets of San Francisco.

"I must have done some good things in my past life to get such an understanding wife," I muttered with a smile, and then I burst into quiet laughter.

"Well, that was quite easy, Damien."

One year ago, everyone laughed at my decision. They told me I was a fool to marry someone like Esmeralda. Someone who neither belonged to my world nor matched my status. A girl too innocent for the chaos I lived in.

But I knew.

I knew from the very first day that she was everything I needed in a wife.

A girl who worships me like God, a girl who, like a dutiful wife, takes care of my every need yet never messes with my personal life.

A chuckle escaped my lips as I raised my hand for a toast.

"Cheers to my understanding wife."

Chapter 3 III

ESMELRALDA Point of view

I looked around the room to ensure that all the decorations from last night are taken off; otherwise, Damien will again blame himself for spoiling my hard work.

Sharon, the decorator did her work so well!

I was rechecking the room when my eyes met the photo frame that was proudly hanging on the side wall.

I walked towards it and observed it thoughtfully.

It was I and Damien's wedding picture.

I looked at our smiling faces and then focused my attention on my man, my husband, Damien, who was looking devilishly handsome that day.

Do remind me of a day when he didn't look handsome, mocked my conscience!

I shook my head amusingly, He always does.

But that day, something was special about him, about us.

After all, it was the day when we became one.

My mind goes back to the time when our journey started.

We accidentally bumped into each other in a coffee shop.

Did I just say we?

Oops, I bumped into him.

I was working as a waiter in the tea shop, and he happened to be one of our customers because he comes there almost every single day.

So one particular morning, we had lots of customers and it was only I and my friend Maria who were on duty that day.

I was rushing to go attend to one of our customers and wasn't looking, and that was how I ended up spilling the hot tea in my hand on his white tea shirt.

That incident made us have our first conversations.

From small talks, I ended up falling for him. Lol, and Tada, here we are today celebrating our one-year togetherness in marriage.

Damien's p.o.v

I came back home this morning to find Esmeralda sleeping.

Apparently, I didn't come back home yesterday after apologizing for not remembering our wedding anniversary.

The truth is, I actually planned to go home that morning, but my personal assistant told me that I had a business meeting in Germany; my flight was booked already, and the plane was scheduled to take off that morning.

So, my hands were tied.

Like always, I had to call Esmeralda and apologize to her.

I'm finally home, and my beautiful wife is sleeping so peacefully.

I leaned on her completely by keeping my both palms on both sides of her pillow as I gave a peck on her cheeks.

She stirred and slowly opened her eyes.

I decided to catch her off guard and planted a kiss on her soft, plump lips.

She tried to say something after I kissed her on her lips, but before she could say anything, I captured her lips in a passionate kiss.

I pulled her lower lip with my teeth as she was busy teasing my upper lip.

Bad girl.

I changed our position by taking her above me.

Now she was lying on my chest while my hands were busy exploring her back as I slipped my hand beneath her top.

Our passionate lip lock was broken by the sharp ringing of my phone.

"Aarrghh" I groaned in frustration as I looked at the phone screen.

I then looked at my wife with puppy eyes.

She smiled and kissed my forehead and left the room, indicating her understanding towards my work.

After attending to the call, I came out of the bedroom only to find her busy making breakfast in the kitchen.

I went towards her and encircled my hands around her waist and kept my head on her shoulder.

"How do you know that I was about to leave for the office?" I questioned.

"Because whenever your assistance calls you, that means either there is an important meeting or your presence is required in some decision-making or paperwork," she answered as she continued preparing breakfast "I'm sorry. I wasn't around during our anniversary and I just got back, yet my presence is still needed at the company..but don't worry, I will call my personal assistant and tell her that I want to dedicate my day today fully to my wife, so today, no work..and as far as that meeting is concerned, it's okay. I will manage it somehow."

Esmeralda switched off the gas and turned around to look at me.

"You don't need to do that, damien.I know how significant work is..and if you miss your meeting because of me, I will not like that at all..and as far as the anniversary is concerned, it's okay, we can always celebrate it any other day..let's postpone our anniversary celebration for some time..when you are free, you can take me out for a nice dinner, and we will celebrate our anniversary then, simple. This way you don't have to miss your meeting and disappoint your client." Esmeralda says as she cupped my face with her soft hands while smiling.

"Baby, but it's not like that. Every man should work for his family, and for me, you are my family. If you are not happy, then what is the point of me working? And I know that you are saying this only to keep my mind at ease. The day before yesterday, you were so upset... I don't want that later in the future, when we have kids, you will taunt me in front of them for being the world's worst husband... so no business trip this time... I will tell my personal assistant to cancel my flight tickets."

Esmeralda giggled when I said the word worst husband,

" hey, who said you are the worst husband? If anybody should ask me, I will say you are the best husband ever. I will never get tired of thanking God for giving me the world's best husband. You love me so much, you care for me so much, and even now, for my happiness, you are ready to sacrifice your meeting..so why can't I do the same for your happiness? And I know Damien, even if you stay with me, your mind will still be occupied with that deal, and you will have a bad day worrying about how you will manage that deal and, if you can't, how much of a loss it will be. And you know I don't like it whenever you are worried, so it's better that you go to the office now and focus on your work."

I lifted her hand and bowed to kiss her palm.

" I love you so much, baby. You are the best wife. Wait, I brought something for you," I informed her as I went inside our bedroom and came back with a bouquet of red roses and kneeled down in front of her.

"Mrs. Esmeralda Damien, I know I am not the perfect husband. I have always troubled you with my work schedule. I am never able to give you the time and attention you deserve. I have forgotten our anniversary. And until today, I didn't even know your favorite ice cream. Like other husband-wife couples, we never shared a date, and I never took you out shopping. And I don't know how, but you still live with and bear a jerk like me. Thank you for coming into my life. Thank you for loving me so much. Thank you for being so understanding and caring.I love you so much, sweetheart...happy marriage anniversary, my love...accept your favorite flowers from my side as our anniversary gift, and yes, give me my return gift by kissing me," I said as I pouted cutely and earned a hearty laugh from Esmeralda .

Esmeralda pulled me by my collar and kissed me deeply with so much affection.

"Thank you so much, baby... I love you too. Now go and get ready or you'll be late for your flight."

After some time, I was standing in front of the airport with my luggage.

I felt someone tap on my shoulder.

I turned around to find my friends Jason and Michael.

We shared a group hug.

"What's the matter, Damien? We thought we would have to do this guys trip without you. You know how it is after marriage. Married men can't make decisions on their own... for everything they need their wife's permission... By the way, I have to admit, your wife turned out to be quite modern-minded to let you go on this trip with us," Michael said.

" come on, this is Damien we are talking about here. He can trap any chick with his sweet talk and eat her alive, and she still won't even realize it. Poor Esmeralda, just by looking at her, you can tell she has been silenced by him... or you could just say she is like a puppet in Damien's hands. He can make her dance any way he wants," Jason said as he started laughing.

"Right, Damien?"

The aduacity!

I grabbed Jason's collar with a serious expression.

" Shut up, Jason. How dare you say something like that about my wife? Don't forget who you are talking about. How dare you? You are my friend, but that doesn't give you the right to make jokes about my wife because she... "I paused for a moment, and then a smirk appeared on my lips. Because she's mine and only mine." I said and started laughing, and the others heaved a sigh of relief seeing me back to normal.

"come on guys, we are getting late."
