My Handsome Teacher

It all started with the sounds of basins being pulled out, metal boxes being banged and whispers of people here and there.

"Shasmi, get up! We just have 5 minutes before the matron comes" says a girl waking up her friend who was yet to wake up.

Yes, it was a boarding school, a girl's boarding school.

Shasmina was having a wonderful sleep and did not want to get up until her bestfriend Tiana woke her up.

"Is it already 4:30am?" Asked Shasmina or Shasmi as everyone called her, in a sleepy tone as she slowly pulled out her blankets.

Before Tiana could answer her, the voice of the matron could be heard moving closer towards their dormitory.

"Hehehe! You girls are joking with me! It's already 5am and you are still in the dormitory? Let me find you still in there! Let me find you! You are going to slash the whole school and make it clean!" Said the voice of the matron who was moving really quick along with a huge stick in her left hand.

Panic was written all over Shasmi's face.

Her bestfriend, Homemate, Dormmate, cubemate, bedmate and also deskmate Tiana, was already dressed up ready for class.

She quickly rushed out of the dorm as Shasmi took a small paper bag, packed up her uniform, toothpaste, toothbrush, comb, shoe polish, shoe brush and locked up her metal box.

It was an offense to jump through the window but at that moment, she wasn't ready to get caught by the matron so she quickly jumped out of the window in her night gown.

The bell sounded to alert them that it was time for the morning prayers commonly known as the morning glory that was handled in the school dining hall since it was huge.

Shasmi rushed towards the back of the Dining Hall(DH) where most of the students had filled in and began to dress up.

She had not showered but she had to dress up since the school principal should not find her in her night gown.

The school principal always attended the morning glory since she was a prayerful woman and she was the one who kept conducting the prayer session.

She always made sure that everyone attended the morning glory for 30 minutes before heading to class for the morning prep which would run as from 5:30 to 6:30am.

Only the Muslim students were exempted from the morning glory as they would be at the school's mosque having their prayers too.

Shasmi was almost done dressing up when she realised that she dint carry her school shoes.

She knew she would be dead if the school principal would find her like that.

The worst of all was that it was on a Monday!

"This is going to be a long day for sure!" Said Shasmi to herself heartily.

The praise and worship had started and the students were singing but Shasmi was not at peace.

She looked at the corner and saw Tiana who was dozing off already even before the prayer session began.

Before she could call to her, The principal caught her.

"My daughter, you are sleeping during morning glory?" Asked the principal to Tiana who got woken up from her sleep.

She could not even answer.

"You are joking with God young lady and I will never allow that in my school. See me after morning glory" said the principal to Tiana who knew she was up for a punishment.

Other students who were dozing off quickly woke each other up after they heard her speaking to Tiana.

Shasmi had to pretend that she was enjoying the praise and worship not wanting the principal to notice that she had only socks on without school shoes.

She wore the socks with her blue slippers which couldn't escape the principal's eyes.

As she approached, Shasmi closed her eyes pretending to be deep in prayers but the principal tapped her.

She pretended to not have heard the tap and keeps praying but she was tapped again, this time harder.

She had to open her eyes.

"My daughter, I love it that you are serving God diligently but this is not the right school uniform. You also see me after this" said the principal and went towards another girl.

"Why? Why today?" asked Shasmi to herself again heartily.

She turned to Tiana who also turned to her and they frowned at the same time before chuckling slowly.

The principal moved foward to preach and Tiana slowly moved to where Shasmi was.

"Deskie,Punishment on Monday. This week is going to be bad" whispered Tiana

"Ah Deskie, I'm sure this week is going to be so long, especially today. I left my shoes in the cube, not showered, I've not even spread the bed yet. Worst of all, I'm not a dorm worker and the principal caught me in these slippers" whispered Shasmi back.

"You know the principal just canes our legs and let's us go. She won't ask us to slash" whispered Tiana giving herself hope of not slashing.

The principal was done preaching and the students shouted a huge Amen including the two bestfriends who had not heard anything all through.

They all prayed and the two bestfriends along with other several girls followed the principal.

"Tell me your names and which classes you all are from" said the principal to the girls.

Some were found sleeping, some with half school uniform, some with shabby hair.

The girls started mentioning, some in form one, some in form two and some in form three and four.

Only the two bestfriends were from form three central.

"Form three central! The most notorious class in the whole school! You girls will have to see me later in the day" said the principal angrily

"Ah madam no. Just cane us, we won't repeat it again" said Tiana

"Yes madam just cane us we won't repeat it again" seconded Shasmi

"You girls are lucky that I'm in a good mood today. You know what, see me later at the assembly ground in your full uniforms with apology letters. You hear me?" Asked the principal and the girls quickly nodded leaving for their classes.

"Thank you madam" they all said and rushed to their classes.

"Deskie we are saved for the day" said Tiana as soon as they sat on their chairs in class.

The other classmates had already settled down as some were already dozing with their books on the lockers.

"Speak for yourself. I still have to get my shoes from the dormitory without the dorm prefect seeing me else I'm in for it with the matron" said Shasmi and Tiana laughed at her.

"You should be helping me to think how I will sort this out else..." said Shasmi

"Else what?" Asked Tiana confidently.

"I won't help you out with yesterday's maths assignment. You know Mr Wafula's attitude" said Shasmi and Tiana panicked.

"Okay I'll help you out" said Tiana so quickly wanting to finish the maths assignment.

After breakfast and cleaning, the two bestfriends succeeded in getting the shoes but Shasmi never took the shower.

She was going to have to bath later in the evening after classes.

The bell for the assembly rang and they all rushed to form their lines at the assembly ground.

"Deskie, have you written the apology letter?" Asked Tiana to Shasmi who just realised she had not done so.

"I forgot. Deskie did you write?" Asked Shasmi back to Tiana who had not written too.

"What do we do? The teachers are going to come here soon" said Tiana.

"Let's hide our ties and go to class. If the teachers get us in class, we will say we are looking for our ties" suggested Shasmi.

"Good idea. Let's go" said Tiana and the girls rushed back to their class.

They were almost done when they were caught by the teacher on duty, Mr Joseph.

"Girls, what are you still doing in class?" Asked the teacher who was friendly to the two girls.

"Sir please 2 minutes. We are writing something important" said Shasmi

"Is it an apology letter again? Shasmi and Tiana the ever naughty girls. Okay hurry up the principal is coming and tuck in your shirts" said the teacher and went away.

The girls were done with writing and they quickly rushed back to their lines.

Prayers were handled every Monday and Friday at the assembly ground before teachers step forward to address the students and after the scouts raise the flag.

Tiana was a scout but she did not put on her uniform on that day so she did not match with the rest.

As soon as the flag raising was done, two students stepped foward with a Bible and a hymn book which they used to lead the songs.

They sang, preached alittle and prayed.

The students noticed the teachers coming along with the principal but there were some unfamiliar faces.

"Deskie new teachers" said Tiana excitedly.

"What? where?" Asked Shasmi and Tiana pointed towards the new teachers standing next to the principal.

Shasmi's eyes caught up one of the new male teachers.

He stood straight holding his hands infront of him.

She could not see him clearly but she knew that he had a clean shave, he was 5 feet tall and had a fine body.

He was dressed in a white official shirt which hugged his muscles well, black official trouser in pencil shape but she could not see his shoes.

"Good morning students?" Said the principal and the students replied.

"We thank the Almighty for today. It's the beginning of third term and he has blessed us with new teachers. I will let the teachers introduce themselves, their names and the subjects they will be taking you through. But before that, I just remembered, there are some students we met earlier during morning glory. I want to see you infront here right now with your apology letters" said the principal and Shasmi panicked.

"Such an embarrassment infront of the new teachers" said Tiana

"I can't even look up. I feel so bad right now" said Shasmi as they walked up to the front.

All eyes were on them.

The students reached there and presented their apology letters to the principal.

"I hope you learnt your lesson so I want all of you to apologise to all the students here. Tell them your names, your mistake and apologise" said the principal and Shasmi was the one to start.

Shasmi was a blonde brown skin girl with long natural hair and innocent cat eyes.

She was a student journalist in the school and was dressed up neatly always.

Even though the day did not start out for her well, she still managed to look neat.

Her long hair was neatly plaited, shoes well polished and uniform clean.

"Good morning my fellow students. My name is Shasmina Richard from form three Central. I attended the morning glory today without my full school uniform, which is against the school rules. Please forgive me and I will not repeat it again" she said with her head facing down and then moved back to let the next person speak.

She then realised that she was standing close to the male teacher.

She tilted her face towards him and they had an eye contact before she quickly gazed down.

She saw his brownish eyes and he was a chocolate skinned man with a broad chest.

He just had the perfect body and he was dreamy.

Shasmi could feel the scent of his Royal blue perfume.

Her heart was thumping in her chest and she never looked up until the principal released them to join the rest.

She had barely reached her line when she heard, "My name is Archey Maina. I'll be handling Biology in form three Central and chemistry in form one South. I hope we can co-operate and make learning easy" said one of the teachers and Shasmi turned to see that it was the same teacher she was close to.

Students were jumping in joy all over the place.

Shasmi could hear them whispering.

"May I have your attention please. I know I have brought young, handsome and beautiful teachers today. My daughters, keep off! I should not get cases like what we had in the previous years. I hope you get me" said the principal and the girls gave out a loud yesss.

The principal would never allow teacher student-relationship in her school.

She would either fire the teacher or expel the student for good.

That was her rule and she had some student spies to keep watch for her.

The students were dismissed and all got back to their classes, as form three Central were having the first class as maths and the next as biology, which excited them alot.

The classes began and the maths teacher stepped in to first check his previous assignments.

"Tiana my friend, I see you finished my assignment today. Your deskie helped you again. It's good to help each other but in the good way. Not by copying. Some people copy even the underlined work" said Mr Wafula and the girls burst out in laughter.

He was a funny teacher but strict at times.

He seemed to be in a good mood that day such that even the few that were not done with the assignment were not punished at all.

The lesson was smooth and funny.

Construction was the best lesson and Shasmi was so good at it but as for Tiana, it was even hard for to hold the protractor and measure angles.

Finally the lesson was over and the teacher stepped out.

"Class, it's time for??" Asked the class clown Tiana

"Biology!!" The rest shouted and laughed.

"Physics students you get out. We want a moment with our new teacher" said Tiana stressing it out on Shasmi who was a physic student.

The class had only 10 students taking physics while the rest 32 students took biology.

The physics students usually took their classes in form three yellow where they would Mix up physics students from other classes.

That day, they were having a practical lesson and they had to do it in the physics laboratory.

The biology representative went out to pick the new teacher Mr Archey as the physics students were picking their books and necessary items for their lesson.

As they were leaving, the biology teacher had arrived at the door step and the other students were so excited.

They say down on their lockers waiting for the entrance.

Shasmi was the last to leave the class and as she reached the door, she bumped into Mr Archey making him drop his biology text book.

"Sorry sir" she quickly said and picked up the book for him.

"You Don't take biology?" He asked

"Yes" she said and ran off after returning the book to him.

He turned to look as she ran off towards the lab.

"Sir her name is Shasmina Richard. She is one of the top ten best students. You won't see her in this class unless you see her outside class" said Tiana and the class burst out in laughter as the teacher gets in.

"You must be Tiana. Your class teacher mentioned about you and I'm not interested in seeing her. Let's get on with what brought us together" he said and the class was silent.

"Why don't you introduce yourselves first. My name is Mr Archey" he said and the students started introducing themselves one by one.

The class was active and the students liked Mr Archey.

They even wished for a double lesson but the physics students were waiting outside the class to get in for the next lesson.

Mr Archey walked out of class and bumped into Shasmi again.

"Sorry" she said again.

"Are you doing this on purpose? If you are seeking attention then i'm not in for it and have some respect for yourself. Button your shirt" said Mr Archey in a low tone and Shasmi gasped looking at her shirt as Mr Archey left.

She saw that two buttons were open and quickly hid using her books.

She rushed to her desk and lay her head on the locker.

"He thought i was trying to seduce him? Who does he think he is? Is that why Mr Mbaruk was looking at me through out the lesson? Oh my God i'm dead" saidShasmi heartily and since it was short break, some of the students had visited the loo.

"Deskii what's wrong? What has Mr Archey told you" asked Tiana

"I don't want to talk about it but you know what? I hate him!" Said Shasmi and went out of class.

She rushed over to a tap and cleaned her face before going back to class and the bell rang for the next lesson.

"I'll show him that i'm not the type he thinks of" said Shasmi to herself.

The rest of the day ran smoothly and it was evening.

The evenings were always free unless a teacher wanted a lesson with a particular class.

Otherwise, Tiana and Shasmi had chemistry and maths classes just to improve their grades.

They held chemistry classes with a different teacher on monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings while the rest of the days were for mathematics.

That evening, they took their books and rushed to the lab where they held most of their lessons and found their tuition teacher with Mr Archey.

"Sir Archey hi" said Tiana excitedly.

"Tiana the clown. What are you doing here?" He asked

"They are the students i told you about. Girls, he is a better teacher than i am. Though he is young, but he is fit so as from today, he will be taking you through the chemistry tution classes" said the chemistry teacher madam Sarah.

"Yes!" Shouted Tiana

"No" said Shasmi

"Come on deskii you can't say no to Mr Archey" said Tiana

"Shasmi, he is the best you can find and he teaches in a cool style that students understand quickly. I'll leave now, don't waste time" said madam Sarah and left.

"Deskii could you bring a bottle of water please? You know chemistry without water can't make a reaction" said Shasmi

"Aah deskii you are too much. I'll be right back" said Tiana and left.

Shasmina dropped her books on the table and sat down.

Mr Archey thought she wanted to seduce him.

"Dont you think you are too fast" started Mr Archey but Shasmi rolled her eyes.

"Are you trying to get my attention? You now want to be my tuition teacher, are you doing it on purpose? By the way, zip your trouser i'm not interested in you" said Shasmi smiling knowing that she got a chance to revenge.

"How dare you! I wasn't...." he started as he turned around to zip his trousers but she cut.

"You weren't trying to seduce me right? You dont even recall how it opened up right? Then who gave you the right to say that i was trying to seduce you? Well, you were with madam Sarah right now. What would one think if they saw you like that? We are now on draw. Next time before you try to judge me, try to put yourself in my shoes. I would never seduce a teacher! Especially not you! You are not my type and neither will i like you" said Shasmina.

"You..." started Mr Archey but Tiana walked in and they were all silent, Shasmi feeling satisfied.
