Chapter 1 Falling Into The Sea

"Something feels itchy and uncomfortable. Help me."

Eliana Pierce felt as though her body was on fire. She wriggled, kissed the man's Adam's apple devoutly, and begged him to have sex with her.

Nobody would be able to refuse a beautiful woman like her. She was pretty, charming, and dissolute.

"You asked for it."

The man's Adam's apple bobbed up and down. Captivated by her charms, he held her waist, lifted her up, and bent over to start fucking her.

"Ugh..." Eliana began moaning with pleasure.

From the sound of her voice, it was hard to tell whether she was in pain or was just sexually aroused.

Soon, her overwhelming desire compelled her to wrap her arms around the man's shoulder with reckless abandon. The man's swift, hard thrusts soon caused her to orgasm. Her body trembled as she lay flat on the bed.

She got so tired and wanted some rest. Before she closed her eyes, she saw an eye-catching scar on the man's sweaty chest.

......

The next morning, Eliana woke up, feeling like she had a hangover.

The moment she opened her eyes, her entire body felt sore, especially her lower body.

She rubbed her temples, trying to sober herself up.

'What on earth happened? Wasn't I drinking in Erica's room? Who was that man I slept with?' she asked inwardly.

Last night, Erica Duffy invited Eliana to a cruise party, and then...

Bang! The door was slammed open.

"Oh, my God! Eliana! Last night, you..." Astonishment was written all over Erica's face.

The man standing next to her, Asher Harrison, was even more shocked.

Panicking, Eliana covered her body using the blanket, but it wasn't enough to cover the hickeys all over her body.

There were bruises on her neck and arms, and the romantic ambiance of the room indicated that she had made love with a man last night.

"Asher, I didn't..." Eliana wanted to explain herself to her boyfriend.

"Eliana, you really did ask a gigolo to sleep with you! How could you do something like that? You cheated on Asher!"

Erica seemed so indignant. It sounded like she was the one who was cuckolded.

At this time, Eliana stared at her in disbelief.

"I didn't do such a thing! Erica, why are you lying?"

Within mere seconds, Eliana thought of everything that happened last night and connected the dots.

"What the hell...? I get it now. Asher! Erica set this whole thing up, I-"

"Shut up! You're nothing but a slut!" Asher roared, interrupting Eliana. His eyes glinted with rage, and his voice was laden with disgust.

"Eliana, you are nothing but a bitch. You're just like your mother! You both enjoy seducing men. If she hadn't done something so stupid, the Pierce Group might've never gone bankrupt. It's her fault that the Pierce Group ended up like this!"

"What are you talking about, Asher? What happened to my mother?"

Eliana's mind went blank as she sat frozen on the bed.

"Never show your face to me again!"

Having said that, Asher left in a huff. Once he was gone, Erica put on a cunning smile.

"Asher, wait for me!"

Eliana regained her composure upon realizing something. She then put on a bathrobe and followed him to the deck. She needed to talk to him.

"Asher, what did you mean by that? How did the Pierce Group go bankrupt? And tell me something. How did my parents die?"

Eliana grabbed Asher's shoulder, visibly apprehensive.

Guilt flashed through Asher's eyes, but it was soon replaced by anger.

"Fuck off! Didn't I just warn you never to show your face to me again?"

He tried to break free from Eliana's grip.

"Just tell me the truth and I'll leave you alone. Please... I need to know."

Eliana kept holding onto Asher as tears fell from her eyes.

She was oblivious to the fact that she was now standing next to the railing.

Beyond the railing and right below her was the boundless sea.

"I have no idea what you're talking about. Now let me go!"

Asher had run out of patience. He ended up pushing her in a fit of rage.

Because of that, Eliana staggered backwards and fell overboard.

"Eliana!" Asher reached for her hand but failed to catch her.

"Eek!"

Soon, the turbulent sea engulfed her. Eliana didn't even have the chance to call for help.

Thereafter, the sleeping people on the cruise ship woke up one after another. But none of them knew that there was a woman who had fallen overboard, slowly dying.

......

Five years later, at the airport.

Eliana pushed the luggage cart and walked outside. Adrian Pierce put on a serious face and said, "Let me help you, Mommy."

She lowered her head and touched his soft hair. "What a considerate son I have!"

"What about me, Mommy?" Aileen Pierce, her daughter, who was sitting in the luggage cart, poked her head out. Her glistening eyes made her look so adorable.

"Well, you are considerate enough to increase the weight of our luggage," Adrian commented sarcastically.

Aileen stood in the luggage cart, glaring at her brother.

Eliana chuckled while watching her kids interact; her eyes were filled with affection.

Just then, her phone vibrated. After Eliana glanced at the message, the smile on her face disappeared.

It was from Jonathan Bowman. "Call me when you arrive. I've arranged a nanny and a car for you," the message read.

While her eyes were glued to the phone, Eliana couldn't help but think of the man's gentlemanly appearance.

She hesitated whether to call Jonathan or not.

Because she was too absorbed in her thoughts, she was oblivious to what was happening to her kids.

Aileen was holding her favorite toy, a round crystal bear and playing happily.

All of a sudden, a passerby touched Aileen's hand, causing the bear to fall to the floor. The airport was crowded, so when the poor bear fell, it got kicked around by the people.

"My bear!" Aileen exclaimed.

"Aileen, wait!" Adrian shouted.

Aileen went after her bear, and Adrian chased her.

Soon, the bear rolled to a man's feet.

"Finally caught you!"

Aileen picked up the bear with a smile and looked up.

The man in front of her was tall and well-built. He was wearing a pure black suit. His facial features were pleasing to look at, and he had deep eyes. His intimidating presence made passersby keep their distance from him, but it captivated Aileen.

The man lowered his head and looked into the little girl's eyes. Their eyes looked so similar.

Aileen's eyes lit up, and she wrapped her arms around the man's thigh.

"Daddy!" she exclaimed.

Chapter 2 Meet Again

Maurice Moran was stunned.

He stared at the little girl clinging to his leg.

The little girl was lovely. Her round eyes were locked on him.

Maurice was completely captivated to the point that he couldn't take his eyes off her.

He had never seen a child as cute as this one.

While looking into the little girl's eyes, Maurice asked, "Where's your mother?"

At this time, Eliana was frantically searching for her kids at the airport.

All of a sudden, she heard a familiar man's voice coming from behind her.

"Eliana!"

Upon turning around, she saw a man holding a large bouquet of bright roses, staring right at her.

She then took off her sunglasses and saw the man's face clearly.

It was none other than Asher.

"Eliana, is it really you?" Asher asked in trembling, excited voice.

Five years ago, he accidentally pushed Eliana off a cruise ship, and no news of her had been heard since then.

During the past thousand days and nights, he had already forgiven Eliana for her betrayal, hoping that she'd come back to him.

Asher took a step closer to Eliana, attempting to hug her.

"What do you think you're doing?"

A shrill voice came from nearby.

Only when it dawned on Asher did he withdraw his hand.

When Eliana looked at the woman who just spoke, a playful grin appeared on her face.

'What a coincidence! All of my enemies have gathered together,' she remarked inwardly.

The woman turned out to be Erica.

"Where did you come from, bitch? How dare you seduce my husband? You-"

Erica stopped talking midsentence. Her eyes widened in horror as she pointed at Eliana, trembling and unable to speak.

It seemed that she was taken aback by Eliana's appearance. She was supposed to be dead!

"Are you a ghost or are you human?"

Eliana furrowed her brows. The corners of her bright lips curved into a smile. To be fair, she really did look a little bit like a beautiful ghost.

"What's the matter, Erica? You didn't expect me to climb out of the depths of hell to look for you?"

Merely hearing her say that frightened Erica to her very core and a chill ran down her spine.

She recalled how five years ago, she plotted to make Eliana lose her virginity, causing her to have a falling out with Asher. Moreover, Eliana even ended up falling overboard and being swallowed by the sea.

'Did she really return to seek revenge?'

When the thought crossed Erica's mind, she trembled with fear.

Asher, on the other hand, didn't think it was a bad thing. For a moment, he had forgotten the fact that he was already married.

His heart was overcome with joy at the sight of his true beloved's return.

He couldn't help but reach his hand out, wanting to touch the beautiful face that he had longed for day and night.

All of a sudden, Eliana slapped him hard across the face.

"Eliana, are you crazy?"

Erica glared at her, touching Asher's reddened cheeks and feeling sorry for him.

But then, Asher pushed Erica away and stared at Eliana affectionately.

"Eliana, I'm not going to lie to you... I deserved that slap. I've already forgiven you for cheating on me. Is there a chance that you'd be willing to come back to me?" he asked.

This time, Eliana was disgusted by Asher's shameless behavior.

"My... your confession of love is touching, isn't it? If I hadn't died once, I would've been in tears by now. Sorry to burst your bubble, but I need no forgiveness. Erica set that whole thing up just so she could marry you!"

Asher glanced over at Erica and asked, "What does Eliana mean by that?"

Suddenly, Erica's face turned pale. "Don't listen to her nonsense!"

An entertaining interaction was about to happen. Just then, the airport broadcast resonated throughout the place.

"We have an emergency announcement, folks. If there are any passengers who have lost their children, please pay attention to the announcement. We have two kids here, a girl and a boy. The girl's name is Aileen Pierce, and the boy is Adrian Pierce. If you're their parents, please proceed to the airport service hall as soon as possible. I repeat, please proceed to..."

'Adrian and Aileen!'

Eliana hurriedly went to the service hall and abandoned Asher and Erica.

Asher wanted to follow her, but Erica stopped him.

He stood there and watched as Eliana disappeared into the distance, lost in thought.

Upon seeing her husband's reaction, Erica gritted her teeth. Hatred soon filled her eyes.

Once again, Eliana had defeated her.

She was so in love with Asher and she did everything she could to marry him. Five years had passed since then, but he still couldn't move on from Eliana. And now the bitch had come back to life. Erica almost broke down.

As soon as Eliana arrived at the service hall, she saw Aileen and Adrian sitting on two chairs.

"Oh, my babies! I was so scared. I thought I was gonna lose you both."

She hurriedly went to hug them. "Where did you two run off to?"

"I was looking for our daddy!" Aileen said with excitement in her tone.

"Daddy? Who?" Eliana was stunned.

"This is all Aileen's fault. She saw a good-looking guy earlier and called him 'daddy'," Adrian grumbled.

Upon hearing that, Eliana became worried about her daughter's impulsive behavior.

"Aileen, don't ever do that again. It's dangerous. Do you understand?"

Aileen nodded obediently.

Eliana sighed and bowed to the staff beside her.

"Sorry to have troubled you. Who sent the kids here? I'd like to thank him for his kindness."

The staff smiled at her and replied, "Your children are so lucky to have met a kindhearted prominent man. The CEO of the Moran Group was the one who brought them here."

Eliana's heart skipped a beat when she heard that. She grabbed her kids and ran out, causing the twins to get scared.

But by the time she ran out, the man was already gone. All she saw was a Maybach driving past them.

There was a man sitting inside the car. When he passed them by, he rolled up the car window.

The Maybach soon disappeared, and Eliana didn't even get to see his face clearly.

Chapter 3 A Good Man

As the Maybach's engine roared, Maurice sped past Eliana and the twins.

Right before he closed the window, he caught a glimpse of the group of three.

Maurice frowned and felt somewhat dissatisfied with the woman he had never met.

'What a careless woman! How on earth did she manage to lose such cute children?'

But when Aileen's cute face crossed his mind, Maurice's heart softened.

In the blink of an eye, the Maybach disappeared behind the corner, leaving the dazed Eliana behind.

"Mommy, what's the matter with you? Are you still mad at me?" Aileen whispered, reaching for her mother's hand.

Adrian rolled his eyes. "It's all your fault. Why would you call a stranger 'daddy'?"

"Mommy, I promise I'll never do it again," Aileen solemnly vowed.

It wasn't until then that Eliana came to her senses. She smiled at her daughter gently. "I'm not angry with you."

"Then why weren't you answering me?" Aileen asked, pouting in confusion.

At this, Eliana fell silent once more.

She just thought it was a coincidence.

Over the past five years, she had never forgotten that someone had deliberately plotted to make the Pierce Group go bankrupt. After her relentless investigation, she finally found some clues.

She had found that Asher was also involved, but he was just a pawn. There was someone else behind all of it.

Before, she used to think that her father had jumped off a building because he couldn't bear the blow, and that her mother had also killed herself because she couldn't stand his death. However, now Eliana wondered if that wasn't all there was to it.

From the looks of things, it seemed that the Moran Group was behind all this.

"Mommy, you're not answering me again!" Aileen pouted and shook Eliana's hand vigorously.

Finally, she came back to her senses again. She lightly touched the twins' heads.

"Let's go and meet the person who came to pick us up."

With one child's hand in each of her own, Eliana waited at the entrance of the airport.

After a while, a Lincoln screeched to a halt in front of them.

"Miss Pierce, you're finally here!" An amiable middle-aged woman got out of the car. "You can call me Kimora. Mr. Bowman has made arrangements for everything. Let's get in the car first."

Aileen and Adrian jumped up and down excitedly. "Great! Jonathan sent someone here to pick us up!"

Eliana and the twins got in the car and were taken to the house that Jonathan had arranged for her to live in.

After putting away her things, Eliana pulled out her cellphone hesitantly. Finally, she made a call.

"Thank you, Jonathan," Eliana said politely.

"Eliana, no need to be so formal." The man's voice was low and pleasant to the ears. "I know you returned home to investigate the matter of the Pierce Group. I'd like to help you. Call me if you need me."

"Thanks again."

Other than these two words, Eliana didn't know what else she could say to Jonathan.

It was Jonathan who had saved her life when she fell into the sea.

After she was rescued, they found out that she was pregnant.

The doctor said that she was in poor condition and that abortion might put her life at risk. So, thanks to Jonathan's help again, she managed to give birth to Aileen and Adrian.

She owed Jonathan her life, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't force herself to love him. Since she could sense that he had feelings for her, it was difficult for her to face him.

It would be heartless of her if she refused him, but she also couldn't persuade herself to accept him. In a word, she was caught between a rock and a hard place.

After getting off the phone with Jonathan, Eliana shook her head to get rid of these messy thoughts.

Now was not the right time to get into a relationship. Her number one priority was to investigate the truth about what had happened to the Pierce Group!

She looked at her cellphone once more and tapped on the job offer from the Moran Group.

"Dear Miss Pierce, welcome to the Moran Group!"

She clenched her fists tightly and came up with a plan.

The sudden bankruptcy of the Pierce Group and the deaths of her parents... She had to investigate everything herself!

......

Next day, Eliana went to the Moran Group.

The Moran Group had a prime location and its tall Twin Towers were magnificent.

The receptionist led Eliana into the office and reminded her in a low voice, "This is Gabrielle Aston, the director of the Design Department."

Eliana nodded and walked inside.

A woman sat on the sofa in the middle of the room. She looked Eliana up and down.

The woman's gaze made her uncomfortable. Eliana kept her cool and smiled politely. "Hello, I'm Eliana Pierce."

"Welcome to the Moran Group." Gabrielle smiled. She gave Eliana a meaningful look and said, "I have a client meeting tonight. You can go with me."

"Tonight?" Eliana was surprised, but she immediately hid it. "Okay."

Gabrielle nodded with satisfaction and walked toward the door, swaying her hips. "Follow me."

Eliana was ready to go through the formalities. As they stepped out of the elevator, she saw the employees' faces become serious, as though they were faced with a formidable enemy.

A tall figure walked out of an office room, surrounded by senior executives. He wore a haut suit and had a dignified posture. He was clearly not an ordinary employee.

Eliana blinked and stared at the man. He looked familiar.

The man stopped in the corridor and turned his head.

"Eliana," Gabrielle called her from behind.

Eliana was dragged aside before she could react.

Gabrielle's face darkened and her eyes turned cold. "You have to know your place. Mr. Moran is ruthless and distant. If you display any inappropriate feelings towards him, you will be fired immediately."

The man was Maurice, the CEO of the Moran Group.

Eliana thought for a moment and lowered her head obediently. "I understand."

Gabrielle snorted and walked into the office, but Eliana didn't move. She raised her head and looked down the corridor.
