Hell no! was the answer Don Antonio gave his friend when he begged him to come work with his daughter. Crazy enough, that was Alexa's answer too when she learned that she would be working with her godfather. They both knew exactly what they were running away from. Alexa, a beauty with a body most women would kill to have, and most men lust after, including her godfather. She had brains too. Except that her father thought she wasn't smart enough to handle the family business. He went ahead and took away the CEO position from her, which was the one thing Alexa wanted the most. Don Antonio knew quite well that he would be playing with fire when he was asked to come work with his goddaughter, whom he was very much attracted to. But her job was on the line, and he was the only one who could save it for her. How would both of them handle the brewing dangerous passion that was about to burn them? Knowing what was at stake, would they run away from the sensual heat? Or would they allow it to consume them?

Chapter 1 1. A Worthless Piece

Alexa's POV

Tears stung at the corners of my eyes as his words reverberated through the large office space, bouncing back to my ears. I couldn't bear the harshness, nor could I bear the man from whom those words were coming.

"You're a worthless piece of shit! Just take a look at what you have caused! We lost all those millions because of you!" he screamed.

"Dad..." I began.

"What is it, Alexa? Are you ready to explain how these documents were signed?" he demanded, flinging the papers at my face.

The tears that had stung at the corners of my eyes now clouded them, threatening to spill down my face. "I don't know anything about those papers, Dad. I wasn't the one who signed them."

He snorted at my words. "But those are your damn signatures! If you weren't the one who signed them, then who did? Who freaking did?"

His eyes burned with fury as he glared back at me. I had to bend my head when I could no longer stand the heat of his gaze.

Just then, the office doors opened, and the familiar sounds of heels clicking on the floor announced who had entered. I didn't bother raising my gaze from the floor, knowing it was none other than Elsie, my step sister.

Her confident steps told me she was more than excited about the issue I was having with our father. It's not that I was expecting her to be anything else but happy.

Elsie hated my guts with everything within her and hadn't hidden it even for one day.

"Here are the papers you asked for, Daddy," she said in an excited tone.

"Hand them over to your sister," Dad replied to her.

She came closer to where I was and gave me the papers. "Take, Alexa."

The amusement underlying her tone told me that whatever was in those papers wasn't good for me.

My eyes widened as I scanned through the words written on it, "you want me to resign from my position as the CEO?"

"That's right," Dad confirmed, "I've lost enough millions all because of you. I need you to sign those papers right now."

"But Dad..." I began.

"I said now, Alexa! I don't want to hear any more of your silly excuses," he stormed over to where I was and landed a thunderous slap on my cheek, "the damages you have done to the family business are enough!"

I held the side of my cheek where the slap had landed and signed the papers with shaky hands.

"Good," he scoffed, "This is the only good thing you have done in a long time."

I heard Elsie squealing excitedly behind me. I thought she was being the typical Elsie until Dad motioned for her to take a seat.

She rushed to my former chair with a speed faster than that of light and relaxed in the chair.

"Even though you are the younger one, I believe you are smarter than your sister and will take good care of our family business," Dad told her.

"Of course, Daddy! I am way better than my older sister. Don't worry, Daddy, Bavarish brand is in the best hands," she bragged and shot me a mischievous look.

I gasped on realizing what just happened. Then I burst into tears the next second, while Elsie burst into laughter hearing my cries.

"This is not fair, Dad!" I cried out.

"Life is not fair, Alexa," he replied, "Besides, I can't sit still and watch you run down my company to the ground. I put blood, sweat, and tears to get Bavarish to where it is now."

"And mind you, those aren't the kind of tears he is talking about," Elsie chimed in with a mocking tone.

"You're so smart, my baby," Dad told her. He went further to where she was and kissed her lovingly on the forehead.

"See, I told you," Elsie boasted as a reply, "And I am going to make you proud, Daddy."

The tears continued flowing. I couldn't control them, nor could I stand the betrayal I was witnessing. My dad seeing me as a dumb blonde, instead of the smart girl he raised me to be, was one of my worst nightmares. And I was seeing it come to pass.

The pain felt stronger with each passing second. Running the family business was so important to me. He just broke my heart into a million pieces by taking the one thing I loved doing. Never had I imagined that there would be a day when Dad would compare me to Elsie, my younger stepsister, who I gave a solid five-year gap. To think he just chose her over me.

What else would he do? Fire me from the family business and marry me off to some old grumpy billionaire? My broken heart shattered more at that thought.

And just when I thought I had had enough heartbreaks and embarrassment for one day, the universe sent another. The door opened while I was still sobbing uncontrollably, and the voice I heard next made me wish that the floor would open and swallow me up.

"Donald," he greeted my father.

"Don Antonio. You are here," my dad responded.

My godfather came into the office with his majestic steps and stood right next to me.

He cupped my face and raised my head to look at him. That single touch from him sent shivers running down my spine. When I stared up at him and into his gorgeous gray eyes, it felt like the world stopped rotating.

"From the looks of it, I believe you have broken the news to her," he said to my father without taking his eyes off me.

"And she isn't taking it well. She has been grumpy ever since," Dad responded to him.

"But there is no need to be sad, little Alexa. It's not as if you are leaving the company or anything. You are simply changing positions."

He must have noticed my confused frown because he continued, still not breaking eye contact, allowing me to remain mesmerized by them, "Instead of being above every other person, you will now be working under me."

My eyes widened at what he just said.

No! Hell no!

Chapter 2 Hell No

Don Antonio's POV

Hell no was the answer I gave my dearest friend, Donald Bavarish, when he suggested that I invest in his fashion and lifestyle brand-The Bavarish.

He had complained several times how my goddaughter was running down the businesses for years and needed to stop her before she ruined the business completely.

I had said no because accepting the offer would mean Alexa ruining not just me, but the friendship I had maintained with her father for over thirty years.

My good friend had crazy ideas. Not only had he begged me to invest my money, which is a piece of cake since I had too much of it running in billions. He wanted me to invest my time too, and in no other person but Alexa.

How was I supposed to spend time with someone I should be avoiding?

Alexa had everything any woman could wish for. A drop dead-gorgeous face, a banging body, and a well-working brain. Her fellow ladies would love to have what she has got, while most men lusted after her. Including me.

I have lost count of how many nights I have slept off while thinking about her. How many wet dreams of mine I have had her in. Any morning I woke up with a semi hard-on, it would only be because Alexa was in the fragment of my dreams the previous night.

My answer to Donald's request, which was to invest my time in teaching her on the areas she was lacking in, would have remained no if not that Donald had threatened to fire her instead.

I have known Alexa ever since she was a toddler, and had also studied her enough to guess that Donald firing her for a lack on her part would crush her deeply. Her career was the only thing she lived for. Taking over her father when he retired was the only thing she wanted.

So I decided to become the sacrificial lamb and work with her. The deal I had with Donald was to teach her everything she needed to know about numbers in the business. But only heaven knows how much I would last before she burns me up with her sensual heat.

I released my hand from her face, and that loss of contact felt like someone had punched me below my gut.

I quickly grabbed her hand and led her out of the office. "Come on, enough of the tears. We have a lot of work to do."

I bade my friend and his other daughter goodbye, pulling Alexa with me. Immediately we entered the new office I would be mentoring her in, she snatched her hands away from me. Her sobbing increased even more, further breaking my heart.

Without thinking twice about the consequences of my actions, I pulled her into my arms, pressing her lush body against mine. I had been expecting her to resist, but she surprised me by leaning into my arms. I grunted, bringing her so close until there was no space left between us.

Her signature vanilla scent filled my nose, and I inhaled it deeply, losing my senses at that moment. We stayed like that for a long time.

I had seen the world through my numerous travels and a lot of beautiful women in it. I could have as many of them as I wanted. However, never did I think that I would be falling hard for a woman the way I had fallen hard for Alexa.

The bad part was that she was someone much younger than me, while the worst part was that she is also my friend's daughter. And also was the world's most dangerous seduction to me.

Everything about her invited me in. The way she talked, smiled, cried, and even smelled. Gosh, that signature vanilla scent. It made her almost as desirable as a delicious ice cream about to melt to the core. And I wanted nothing else but to lick her to the last drop.

I took a great risk by deciding to accept to work with her. That was the greatest game of my entire life because to me, she was the final grand prize. I want her, no matter what. I might be ready to take the risk with her.

"Don't worry, I am going to teach you more things you need to know about the business. You will learn and become better at the business," I assured her.

"Thank you," she muttered, snuggling further into my chest. She wrapped her slender arms around my back. A move I found very dangerous.

However, I made an extreme effort to suppress my grieving passion deep inside, trying not to scare her off with my inner beast, while watching her step into my exquisitely designed trap.

"Thank you so much for being too good to me, godfather," she finished.

Only if she could read my mind, would she know how badly every piece of me desired her. 'Little Alexa, you have no idea all those dirty thoughts my mind is filled with about you. So don't tease me, unless you are going to please me.' I thought to myself.

I gritted my teeth and covered my eyes, not wanting to leak out my dark side. But it was already too late because I had said it out loud unknowingly.

I tried to let go of her, but she murmured something, touching my face softly, as it was stern because of how nervous I was of how she would react.

"Then show them to me," she replied in almost a whisper, staring into my eyes with her emerald green eyes.

I quickly pushed her off me, giving a long distance between us.

"We need to get to work now," I announced, striding to my chair. Each step I took away from her was gruesome. It took everything within me not to go back and kiss those lush lips of hers senselessly until she begged me to stop.

She remained where she was, somewhat dazed at my flip of emotion.

"What are you still doing there? Didn't you hear what I just said? Get yourself over and let's get those numbers into your head! Move it now!" I barked.

Chapter 3 A Recipe for Disaster

Alexa's POV

I sat down opposite him, stunned by his sudden change of mood. He didn't even wait for me to settle properly on the chair before launching into a rundown of the business. It was all facts and figures, a fast-paced gush of information. He insisted that I had been too soft in my way of running the business, and that was why I failed.

"So, you see, your father was right. The company's bottom line has been slipping. It's clear you haven't been taking care of the right areas," he said, his voice a low growl.

My dad had been on my case about it for months. I knew the numbers were off, but I had been focused on building up new markets, on creating a vision for the company's future. My dad had always been worried about the bottom line, and now Don Antonio was singing the same tune.

"I know the numbers aren't where they should be, but we've been making progress. The new markets have huge potential. We just need to give it time," I said, trying to keep my voice calm.

"Time is money, Alexa," he snapped, leaning forward, his gorgeous gray eyes narrowed. "We don't have time to wait. We need results, and we need them now."

"I understand, but you have to give me a chance to explain," I insisted. "I have a plan. I know how to turn things around. I just need the resources..."

"Resources?" he scoffed. "What resources? You're already getting all the resources you need. Look, I know you're trying to impress your father, but you're not ready for this kind of responsibility. I've seen how you've been managing the company, and it's not good. You're not cut out for this."

I felt my temper rising. "That's not fair! I'm trying my best. I'm learning, and I'm not giving up. You just need to tell Dad to give me a chance!"

"But he had already given you a chance for all these years," he countered, his voice cold. "And I'm not sure you're even trying. You're not even taking this seriously."

"And I don't think I can take this anymore," I stood up and stormed out of the office, ignoring his call for me to come back.

The drive home was a blur. I just kept my eyes on the road, letting the anger and hurt bubble inside me. How could dad do this to me? Taking the CEO position away from me was the worst thing he could have done. He knew it was one of the few things that mattered most to me.

As if him taking away the position from me, he brought my godfather to mentor me. How will I cope with working with the man I'd secretly been in love with for years? It is practically a recipe for disaster.

I had always felt a spark between us. Our gazes would linger a little too long, our conversations would drift into intimate areas. But I never dared to act on those feelings. He was a powerful man, and my dad's best friend. What kind of daughter would I be if I dated my father's friend?

Now, I had to face him every day, forced to work side by side with the man who held my heart in his hands. How could I even pretend to be professional? How could I hide my feelings? The thought of it made me sick.

The worst part was, I had been suspecting that he felt the same way for months. I had seen the way he looked at me, the tenderness in his eyes, the way he held my hand a little longer than necessary. He never said anything, of course, but my gut told me it was there.

I only confirmed it today. What he said about having little dirty thoughts about me flashed in my mind. He had lost himself for a few moments, hence the confession. And him flipping out the very next second only means he was trying to hide his true feelings.

I slumped onto the couch immediately I got home. I was too tired with everything that happened today, so I laid there, still thinking.

"Alexa, are you okay?" My mom's voice startled me. I looked up, blinking away the tears that had clouded my eyes.

I shook my head, forcing a smile. "I'm fine, just tired," I said. But I knew I was lying. I wasn't fine. I was shattered.

My mom knew I was lying about being okay too. She gave birth to me so she could see through me.

"You're not fine, Alexa. Don't try to lie to your own mother." She had a way of saying my name that always felt like a reprimand.

"I'm fine," I repeated, trying to sound nonchalant, but my voice cracked.

"Spit it out, honey. What's going on?"

I finally confessed to her about getting fired as the CEO, but I didn't let her know that Elsie took over my position. That might trigger her anxiety attacks.

"Your father fired you? But why?" She sounded more bewildered than angry.

"He said my decisions were making the company lose millions," I mumbled, feeling my cheeks burn with shame.

She sighed, the lines around her eyes deepening. "Alexa, you're a brilliant woman. You know how to run that company. You're the only one who can handle it."

"I know," I said, my voice tight. "But...it's not going to happen again. Not now that he has taken it away from me."

"Then resign," she said. "Walk away. Let them have it."

"I can't," I said. "You invested so much in that company, Mom. I can't let that woman dad married and her silly daughter have it. Plus let's not forget that we need the money. For your medications and therapy."

"Don't use them and me as an excuse, Alexa," she said, her voice hardening. "I know you want this company. You've always wanted to take it over from your father."

I watched her leave the living room in anger, knowing she was right. My biggest dream was to become the sole owner of Bavarish. But my mom also knew that I had every right to fight for that ownership.
