Quinn Morgan couldn't look away from the news, feeling her heart ache as she watched the images of her husband with his first love playing repeatedly on the screen.
Today was her third wedding anniversary and she had prepared a special dinner and gifts for her husband, Sebastian Meyer, even when she knew he might not remember what day it was for them.
"I thought he was at the office, what was he doing at the airport?" She asked herself, trying to brush away the fact that he went to pick up a woman.
She leaned back on the sofa as she inhaled a deep breath, waiting for Sebastian to return.
After sitting for what seemed like hours and he hadn't returned yet, she checked her phone only to see that Sebastian had already texted her that he couldn't make it home that night.
She shook her head in fury, the anger surging through her like an electric current. She replied to his text message almost immediately after she read it.
I saw the news. Are you sleeping out because of her?
She didn't get a response as she paced the length of the sitting room, her steps quick and agitated.
"I guess I won't get a response." She mumbled under her breath.
She lost her appetite and walked into her room, her chest aching with a heavy and suffocating pain that seemed to spread through her whole body.
She knew Alice was his first love and he hadn't gotten over her even after she chose his brother over him. She had been married to him for three years and he never showed any affection towards her except during intimacy.
Quinn thought she could make him love her and forget about Alice if she became a dutiful wife, but she was wrong.
"Quinn, don't think too much about it. Just have a good sleep." She consoled herself, before drifting into sleep.

The soft morning light filtered through the window and cast a glow on Quinn Morgan's face. She wearily opened her eyes, her eyeballs red and heavy as a result of a sleepless night. She clutched her phone and swiped it open, the screen filled with unanswered texts and calls to her husband, Sebastian.
She climbed out of bed and strode downstairs through the grand hallway of the mansion. She was about to pack up the dinner that she had prepared the previous night when she heard the door creak open.
Sebastian strolled in with a woman with a burst of hushed laughter. Quinn had never seen him so happy like that before. He was always exuding a cold demeanor when he was with her.
She walked up to him in fury and yelled, "Sebastian, where were you last night? Did you forget what day it was? Why did you bring her home?"
Sebastian shot her a murderous look and walked past her, climbing the stairs to his room. She clenched her hands into tight fists beside her and bit her trembling lips.
"Shall I answer your questions on his behalf" Alice broke the sudden silence after Sebastian left.
A malicious smile tugged at her lips as she continued, "We were together last night, happy to hear that?"
"What was your other question again? Oh, your wedding anniversary. He remembered, but he wasn't interested in celebrating with you. Isn't that how it has been since you two got married?"
Quinn's breath hitched, and her chest felt as if it were being squeezed by an invisible hand.
"Isn't it too shameful to spend the night with your husband's brother?" She asked, trying to control the rage burning inside her.
"One interesting thing about you is that you are too naive. Just wait and see how Sebastian becomes mine. He was mine to begin with, if I hadn't left, do you think he would ever marry a woman like you?"Alice paused and continued, "Look, I'm back to take what belonged to me, which is Sebastian and just so you know, I'm carrying his baby." Alice said, giving Quinn a death stare before climbing up the stairs.
Quinn hurriedly climbed up the stairs to catch up with her, "where do you think you are going?" She thundered.
Alice smiled viciously and shoved Quinn down the stairs. She then threw herself down, taking a harsh tumble down the stairs until she landed on the tiled ground, her stomach striking the surface heavily.
Quinn's eyes widened in shock. "Why is she intentionally hurting herself?" She wondered.
"Ah," She groaned in pain, blood dripping out between her legs, staining her white dress.
Quinn tried to stand up and help her but she felt a sharp pain in her stomach that made her fall back on the ground.
Sebastian heard the strange bang and hurriedly came down the stairs.
"Sebastian, my baby, it hurts." She winced in pain, her hands rolling her stomach.
He hurriedly walked towards her and grabbed her back, his hazel green eyes brewing a storm, ready to engulf Quinn as he fixed her with an icy stare.
He clenched his teeth tightly and growled. "Quinn! If anything happens to Alice or the baby, I'll never forgive you."
Quinn's mind went blank. Was Sebastian truly responsible for Alice's pregnancy?
"I didn't touch her Sebastian," She whispered, but Sebastian was already out of the house, carrying Alice to the hospital.
Quinn's breathing became shallow and her vision became hazy. Her eyes closed slowly and she lost consciousness.
The security, who was surprised to see Sebastian carrying Alice quickly rushed in after he drove away. He saw that Quinn had passed out, he called 911 immediately and she was taken to the hospital.

At the hospital, Alice was lying on the bed weakly.
"Sebastian, please don't blame Quinn. Maybe the baby wasn't meant to be born." She said to Sebastian who was sitting beside her.
"You are too nice Alice, she killed your baby and you still protect her like this?"
"I'm sure it wasn't intentional, and she would be regretting her actions right now. Just let it go please." Alice replied, with a sinister smile on her pale face.
She knew the pregnancy might be a hindrance between her and Sebastian, so she had to take care of it by losing it and making Quinn take the blame. After all, she wasn't supposed to keep the pregnancy at all.

Quinn Morgan didn't know how long she had passed out but the moment she regained her consciousness, she slowly opened her eyes and was greeted with the beeping sound of a monitor. It took her a while to realize she was in a hospital room, putting on a white patient gown.
She saw the doctor standing beside her bed, watching her. "Mrs. Meyer, why were you so careless? You could have hurt the baby." The doctor said to her
"The baby?" Her eyes widened in disbelief trying to comprehend what the doctor was talking about.
"Am I pregnant?" her eyes were filled with tears.
"Yes, you are pregnant Mrs. Meyer. Aren't you aware of it?" The doctor asked.
"How's my baby doctor?" Quinn had no idea when tears started streaming down her cheeks.
"Mrs. Meyer, please calm down! Your baby is perfectly fine. You just need to be extremely careful from now."
Quinn nodded in affirmation of what the doctor had just said. "I'll be more careful doctor."
"Please can you keep this a secret for me? I don't want anyone to know about my pregnancy, even my husband." She begged the doctor.
The doctor looked slightly confused before saying, "Okay, I will."
Quinn doesn't want Sebastian or Alice to know about the pregnancy, afraid that Alice might try hurting her baby. A woman who can hurt herself and her unborn child without thinking twice can do more than that to someone else.
Was Sebastian responsible for her pregnancy? Did she come back because she was pregnant? Was Sebastian seeing her while he was traveling abroad with the excuse of business?
Her thoughts were disrupted by the insistent buzzing of her phone. She hissed hastily upon seeing Sebastian's name flashing on the screen. She answered the call after thinking for a while.
"Quinn! Get your ass down here now." Sebastian ordered, his voice firm and unwavering.
"Why?" She retorted.
"Get here first," Sebastian said coldly.
"The same hospital?" She asked to know if Alice was taken to their family hospital.
"Yes," Sebastian replied to her.
Quinn called the doctor to ask her if she was fit to return home. Although she didn't feel any pain anymore, she still needed to confirm if it was safe for her to leave the hospital. Now that she has a little life growing in her tummy, she has to be careful.
With a sharp intake of breath, she rubbed her palm over her tummy and said "Baby, mummy will protect you always okay?"
She briskly walked out of her hospital bed and made her way towards Alice's ward, each step heavy with dread.
She pushed open the door and met her husband holding Alice's hands with care. She saw his hazel green eyes sparkle with some emotions that she couldn't describe. Something she had always longed for in the past three years.
"Sebastian, your wife is here," Alice said, her voice laced with sarcasm.
Sebastian rose angrily and walked towards Quinn, a sneer twisting his features as he raised his hand and slapped her on the face.
Quinn's eyes widened in horror and her breath hitched in her throat. She brought her hand to her cheek, trying to ease the pain on her cheek. In the past three years, Sebastian has never raised his hands on her but he just slapped her now for Alice. Her gaze darted from Sebastian to Alice's face.
"You made Alice miscarry. She lost her baby because of your jealousy." He stated, anger etched on his features.
"Now, apologize to her or we will get a divorce as soon as you leave here." He threatened.
Quinn's eyes welled up with tears. Unfazed by his threat, she said, "I won't apologize," her voice quivering slightly.
"If anyone is supposed to apologize, she should be the one to apologize to me. She killed her baby herself and even hurt me. Are you so blind to see that she's just putting up a show?" She thundered.
Sebastian was surprised, Quinn had never talked back to him. She had always been an obedient and dutiful wife. Why did she suddenly change? Was it because of Alice? Or had she been pretending all these while?
"Who's putting up a show here? The one who miscarried or the one who feigned sickness just to get my attention?" He asked when he realized she was wearing a patient gown, thinking Quinn pretended to be sick to get his attention.
"Mr. Meyer, you are beyond help. I feel sick just by standing here to watch you defend your mistress. I'll get the divorce papers ready, please get home as soon as possible to have them signed." Quinn said and took her leave.
Sebastian shook his head in disbelief. He was so confident that Quinn would never divorce him because she loved him so much and married him for his money. How would she be able to live if she divorced him?
She was just an orphan who helped his grandfather in an accident. To show his appreciation, old Mr. Meyer arranged for Sebastian to marry her. He knew Quinn had loved him at first sight but he couldn't open his heart to any other woman.
He strolled back towards Alice's bed and held her hands. "Alice, I'm sorry. I'll definitely make her apologize to you."
"No, it's fine Sebastian. You should go home now and talk to her, I know she's still very angry that you weren't home last night and you forgot about your wedding anniversary too." She feigned concern.
"I will stay with you till you are fine, okay?" Sebastian said.
"No Sebastian, it's your marriage. What if she divorces you?" She asked with malicious intent.
Sebastian replied with a solemn voice. "She isn't going to divorce me, I'm very sure of that. So you shouldn't be bothered."
A sinister smile that Sebastian didn't notice tugged at the corner of Alice's lips. She was happy that Sebastian would be by her side till she got better, and this meant she would be able to spend enough time with him.
Sebastian rummaged through his pocket to get his phone and call his assistant. He saw that he had a lot of calls and messages.
His security also texted him that Quinn passed out and was taken to the hospital by emergency services. He ignored the text because he knew she was only pretending to get his attention.
He was about to tuck the phone back into his pocket when it buzzed again. He took it out again and read the text from Quinn.
"I'm waiting at home. The divorce documents have been prepared."
For the past three years, Sebastian had always wanted to divorce Quinn, but she was always pleading with him when he talked about divorce. However, after he received the text from Quinn, he felt bad for some reasons that he couldn't explain.
"Alice, I need to get home now. I'll have my assistant come soon to watch over you for me." He stormed out of the hospital room without waiting to hear her response.
Alice gritted her teeth and clenched her knuckles into tight fists, "Quinn! That bastard. I will make you pay for ruining my plans."
As Sebastian drove back home, he stared back at the text he had received from Quinn, wondering why he was feeling so bad. Is she really going to divorce him? Or was the text a prank to make him come home?
In about fifteen minutes, he arrived at his mansion. He didn't see Quinn downstairs, so he made his way upstairs to his bedroom. He knew she would be there.
Immediately he got to the room, he felt a chill run down his spine when he spotted her sitting on the bed with her luggage beside her.
"What was the text message about?" He asked, his voice husky.
"I won't apologize to Alice so I had the divorce documents prepared. It's over there." she spat, showing no excessive emotions on her face.
Sebastian's face turned stone cold, "are you sure about this? Once I sign the divorce papers, there's no going back."
He knew Quinn was just an orphan who was taken in by his grandfather. She has no friends or relatives, where would she go after divorcing him? She could have just apologized to Alice and still be his wife. Why was she being so adamant? She had always been an obedient wife to him.
"I know, just sign it." Her heart fell upon saying this.
She had loved Sebastian for three years hoping that he'd love her back one day but he had only mistreated her and given her painful memories. She sacrificed a lot to be with him, all it took for him to betray her love for him was Alice, his first love.
Sebastian walked up to her and grasped her jaw in his large palms. "I know this isn't about the apology, tell me why do you insist on getting a divorce?"
Quinn flinched, "What are you doing? Didn't you say we should divorce if I can't apologize to your mistress? Let's get divorced. You never loved me, you chose to believe her words over mine. I can't do this anymore, let's just end it now." She felt a tickle in her eyes but she tried to hold back her tears.
A resounding slap landed on her cheeks.
"How dare you call her a mistress? You killed her baby, why can't you apologize to her? Why? I can't believe you killed an innocent baby and do not feel remorse." His voice dripped with disdain.
Quinn's face was searing with pain. This man was a monster who'd go crazy over Alice. She almost lost her baby too because of this vicious woman who killed her own baby. She can't keep arguing with this man.
"If you can't even differentiate the truth from a lie, I see no reason why you should call yourself a man." She glanced at him with a withering glare.
"Let's meet at the courthouse tomorrow morning at nine." With that being said, she stood up and turned to leave.
Sebastian's voice, blazing with anger stopped her in her tracks, "Do you even know what you are saying? If we get divorced, you won't have access to any of my finances. Is my money not all you've always wanted?"
"To hell with you and your money Sebastian! And I meant every damn word."
Sebastian's eyes became red with rage. He never imagined that his once dutiful wife would ever address him this way. He hurriedly went to pick up the divorce papers and turned to the next page only to see that she was leaving with nothing.
"She's leaving with nothing?" He whispered. He couldn't believe that Quinn wasn't after his money or was she pulling up a trick? He was very certain that she had agreed to marry him for his money.
After Quinn left the mansion, she called her brother whom she hadn't reached out to in three years. She was going back to her former life. The truth is, she wasn't an orphan that old Mr. Meyer had mistook her for. She was the only daughter of Mr. Morgan, the most powerful and wealthy man in the United States.
"Brother! I'm ready." She said, her eyes brimming with tears.
Soon, a luxurious Rolls Royce Phantom pulled up in front of the mansion.
A well-suited man stepped out of the car, with a purposeful stride. He adjusted his tie properly, exuding an air of quiet confidence.
"Chase!" Quinn called out and strolled hurriedly to him and embraced him tightly. It's been three years since she left her family. Her father wasn't in support of her getting married to Sebastian. But she promised her father to come back if she couldn't win Sebastian's heart in three years.
She never believed she'd actually go back to her father. She had thought she could make Sebastian fall for her, she had put all her efforts into making him happy for the past three years. She never expected that Sebastian would betray and mistreat her in the cruelest way possible.
Chase Morgan patted her back comfortingly as tears gushed down her cheeks. "You've made a good decision little princess. You don't have to regret it now."
Sebastian Meyer rushed out and saw the scene. "What?" He thundered.
Before he could react, Chase Morgan already gave him a death stare and hopped into the car with Quinn after helping her with her luggage.
Sebastian noticed the hostility in his eyes.
"Mr. Chase?? Is Quinn divorcing me because of this man?" He asked himself, his voice barely above a whisper.
He knew Mr. Chase was a well-known business tycoon across the world. How did Quinn get involved with him when she was always indoors performing her duty as a wife to him? What relationship does she have with him?
Sebastian couldn't describe the feeling, but anger surged in his heart now.
Now he was certain that Quinn was just always after rich men, she had married him for his money. And now going out with Chase as soon as she decides to divorce him.
