Stacy's pov.
Getting inside my husband's house, I met an eyesore. My husband; Greg, was with another woman in the sitting room. They were sitting down.
"What took you long? I have been waiting for you." He arched his eyebrows at me and that only made me smile. I thought he had missed me for just a short period that I wasn't at home.
"I am sorry. I went to get this bouquet for you. And who is this lady with you?" I kept a calm gaze at him.
"This lady here is Fiona; the woman that is going to replace you." Hearing that, I couldn't wrap my head around those words.
"Replace me? I don't understand." I felt a sharp twist in my heart.
"I will speak in plain terms, Stacy. I am ending this marriage." Those words hit me like a dagger. It seemed like a joke.
"Five years of marriage? You can't mean that." I looked into his eyes with pains all over my face.
He smirked. "Haven't you heard? I have just been hired by Dragon Empire; a top company in this city. My salary a year is now thirty million dollars." "Can't you see that we are not in the same class any more? Can't you see that I will be mocked when people see you and I together." "No hard feelings, Stacy. We are no more compatible." I can't believe those words coming from him.
"Are you leaving me because of your new position?" I widened my eyes.
"Yes. I realized I can't stay with a pauper like you any more. People like you will only drag me to the mud." This was unbelievable.
"What?! I can't believe you would say this to me after our five years of marriage." "I have been supportive and caring through these five years. When you had nothing, I stood by you. Where was this lady then?" I moved forward to touch him.
Only for him to jerk my hands off him. "Don't you dare lay your filthy hands on me?" "You are just a freeloader and I am not interested in you anymore." Fiona brought out some documents from her bag and handed it over to him.
"Stacy. This is where we end our five years journey. Sign the divorce papers." Hearing that from the man I love so dearly broke my heart into pieces. For the five years of our marriage, I have been nothing but supportive and caring.
"How can you be this cruel? Greg. Just because you got successful, the first thing you do is to divorce me after all the sacrifices?" My voice squeezed out in pain.
"I know your problem, Stacy and I am going to fix that for you. Out of my salary, I am going to pay you two million dollars for all the sacrifices. I believe this would start a life for you."
"I don't need your money, Greg. Now that you are successful, I believe we will enjoy it together."
Fiona cut into the conversation. "So your plan is to milk him after all. Greg is right for divorcing you." "People of your class will only give him setbacks and nothing more."
"If you know what is right for you. Sign the divorce papers now!"
I was surprised at those words. "I don't know you could be this short sighted, Greg. Everything you became, I have been the one behind it all. Even this job that made you this successful, I granted you access to it." That irked Greg.
"Stop speaking highly of yourself. We have been married for five years. I know you too well. You are just a pauper, a scumbag and a loser. You can't have any other identity." "Sign the papers already."
I took an intense breath and tears rolled down my cheek involuntarily. I was in pain. "Are you sure about this? Once I sign this paper, it is over forever."
"Hmph! I know and that is what I want. Stop wasting my time." Greg shot a deadly glare at me.
"Okay. I will make your wish come to pass. But know this, you are certainly going to regret it." I took the divorce papers from him and I signed it.
"The only thing I will regret is getting married to you for five years." He collected the divorce papers from me.
"Now that you have signed it. Pack everything that passes as your property. I don't want to ever see you again."
......
With tears running down my cheek, I took my luggage and I loaded it on my scooter. While driving, I noticed I was being followed by five different luxurious cars. 'What is wrong with this man? Why would he follow me?' I thought in my head. While I was still thinking, It seemed like I was being waved down. With intense breath that left my nostrils, I stopped my scooter. Even with the pain in my heart, I had to clean my face just to pretend that everything was fine. The five cars after me stopped.
I stepped off my scooter and Mr Paul; my personal watchdog stepped down from one of the cars. While different guards stepped down from the other cars. They all accompanied Mr Paul.
Getting in front of me, they all went on their knees. "All hail the heiress." I was pissed with that performance. Paul could tell with the way I glared at them.
Paul stood on his feet and he walked in close proximity to me. "What is your problem? Paul. I told you I kept my identity a secret. Do you want to blow my cover with this?" I widened my eyes at him.
"I am sorry, Ma. Since you have revealed your identity to your husband. I deemed it fit to honor you." "By the way, how did he react to it?"
Hearing him ask that question, my countenance fell. I clenched my fist and I gritted my teeth. "I don't want to talk about it." "Why are you after me though? I thought I told you to maintain a low profile." I furrowed my gaze at him.
"Ma. I want to personally congratulate you for a successful show and also give you a grand opening. However, after I received good news from them that he has been accepted into a top position. I am so happy for your husband because he is now a big shot." Hearing that, I couldn't control the tears that rolled down my cheek.
Seeing my tears, his heart was gripped with shock. "Ma. What did he do to you? Why are you crying?" "Wasn't the whole unveiling a success?" Mr Paul furrowed his gaze on me.
My lips were trembling. But I still forced myself to speak. "He divorced me after getting what he wanted."
"What an ungrateful bastard!" "Ma. Permit me to cancel the recommendation you gave that got him this far?" His face was filled with anger.
Stacy's point of view.
"I give you the full authority to take everything from him." Hatred molded within my bowels. I felt like crushing him with my fist while those words poured out of my lips.
A few minutes later, I received a call from Mr Paul. I picked it up. "His position has been taken down." "Since you are now divorced, is it not time for you to return home?" Hearing that made me remember what happened five years ago.
My father; Mr Watson, wanted to give me in an arranged marriage to Sabastian. I totally abhor it. And when I found this young man, I decided to go against my father's wish. Due to my disobedience, my father disowned me. I went away from home to marry that young man. I stripped myself off my identity.
I snapped out of the thoughts. With pain in my heart, I responded. "I can't go back home now. I went against my father's wish and I am sure he doesn't want to hear from me." Saying that to him, Mr Paul understood every point of mine. He ended the call.
Few minutes later, I received a call from my secretary. I picked it up. "Hello. I am sorry that your husband just divorced you. The Chaldeans empire needs you now. Should I send your driver to pick you up?"
Hearing that, I took an intense breath. I am the founder of the Chaldean's empire; a top-ranked company in the world. "Come and pick me up."
The secretary ended the call. Thirty minutes later, seven convoy cars arrived. I was escorted out of the hotel into the car. Each car is worth over fifty million dollars each.
It only took a few minutes to drive before I got back to the company again. Then, I was approached by my secretary. "Ma. Your ex-husband is still owing the company." Hearing that made my lips curved with a smile.
"What are you still waiting for? Get him arrested." "I will personally go in person to see him in the police net."
...
Several hours later. "Your ex-husband is now in police custody." Hearing that, I replied sharply. "I am coming to see him." After saying those words, I hung up the phone and I took steps out of the company.
I went to see him.
Getting out of my car, I stepped into the police station and I was escorted by the policeman to meet with him.
Getting in front of him, Greg challenged me. "I thought you said I shouldn't worry about the loan. Why am I getting arrested for it?" He shot a deadly glare at me.
His words brought back memories. Three years into our marriage, Greg was hell-bent on getting into a profitable business. I suggested that he take a loan from the Chaldean's Empire. Unbeknownst to him that I was the owner of the company. He took the loan and he was bothered about paying up after he lost everything to the business. I told him not to get himself worried. Since then, he didn't worry about it until now.
"You got arrested for it because you left me. That word of mine only irked him. "And who are you to determine how the Chaldean's empire operates?"
Hearing that from him, I brought out my ID. I gave it to him and started talking. "I am the founder of Chaldean's empire and that is why you weren't pestered to pay up the loan. Now that you left me, you will have to pay up everything." I saw fear all over his face. "Why are you looking scared? I thought you said you will pay me off with two million dollars." I arched my eyebrows.
Greg was dissuaded. He couldn't believe his ears as the truth was revealed. His world came crashing down. He spoke defensively. "You deceived me to take this loan from the start. You made me not pay even though I was worried at first!" "Two million dollars wasn't huge when I had my job. The dragon empire fired me before I even started working!" He furrowed his gaze at me.
That only made me chuckle. "I didn't deceive you. You brought this on yourself." "I was the one that recommended you to the Dragon Empire. And immediately you divorced me, I made them fire you." Hearing that, he locked his eyes on me.
"What did you say you did?!" He took a break; finding it difficult to believe. "So, you were behind my downfall? Who the hell are you?" "We have been married for five years and I don't know you at all. How possible is this?"
I knew it had begun to rub on him as a reality. "I hid my identity from you. When I was about revealing it, you were impatient and you divorced me." "All your achievements came from me, Greg."
Hearing me say those words, he shivered in pain. And I spoke in anger. "After making you who you are, the first thing you did was to divorce me. How ungrateful can you be?" "You made all my sacrifices go in vain and now, you will suffer the consequences of your action."
Greg didn't know he would regret his actions so soon. He realized he was going to spend the rest of his life in jail. He went on his knees.
"Please forgive me. I have realized my mistakes." Hearing that from him didn't make me flinch. "I told you that you are going to regret it. Do you regret it now?"
With pain twisting his lips, he replied, "I regret it. I regret every bit of it."
After hearing him say that, I took my ID and left the police custody. He called my name and he tried to stop me, but I didn't listen.
...
Getting out of the police custody, my phone started ringing out. Checking it, I realized it was my father. That came as a surprise to me. My father didn't want to have anything to do with me five years ago. Why is he calling me now? While in thoughts, I decided to pick up his call.
"Hello, daughter. It's been five years that you have been away from home. It came to me as news that you have just divorced your husband. I want you to return home to take your rightful place as the heiress of everything I have. But you must know that your return means you accept to marry Sabastian." Hearing those words from him made me swallow the saliva in my mouth.
I felt my heart racing hard against my chest. What I ran away for came back knocking at my door. I realized I need to make a decision that will change my life forever.
Stacy's point of view
I got back to my apartment, very worried. 'What should I do?' I thought in my head. But then, memories of what Greg did to me flooded my mind. I realized he used me. I saw my decision made no difference. I regretted my actions for getting married to Greg. If I had known, I should have just married Sabastian five years ago and save myself from the stress I went through.
Five years of disobeying my father and I had nothing to show for it. Instead of depriving myself of that good thing my father had for me, I decided to do the needful.
...
"Hello, Mr Paul. Get ready a convoy of ten expensive cars. I am returning home today." I said those words when Paul picked my call.
It appeared like a news flash on Paul's face. "You are returning home today?" Paul's voice rang out with excitement.
"Yes. I am returning to take my rightful position." Hearing my words, Paul replied positively. "I will get the cars ready. When do you plan on going?"
I gave it a slight thought. "1:00 PM. Be here promptly." After saying those words, I hung up the call.
A smile dashed through my lips and I returned the call of my father. He picked up. "Father. I am coming home today and I have accepted to marry Sabastian." When my father heard my words, his heart was filled with excitement. He never expected I would give him a reply so soon.
...
Hours ran into hours. I wore an exquisite mini blue gown. It was graced with an expensive purse. The time is 1:00 PM. I stepped out of my apartment. Mr Paul would never disappoint.
The total terrace was filled up with over ten cars. I was surprised because I initially asked for ten cars. Mr Paul walked up to me.
"I am happy that you have finally decided to return home. Ten cars are ready to take you on the journey." Hearing that from him, I arched my brows.
"There are more than ten cars here." Mr Paul spoke in defense. "I am sorry for the overdo. I deem it fit to impress you." My lips curved with a smile at his words.
"It's nothing to worry about. Let's get going." Everyone entered the car.
...
I stepped down from the luxurious car. My eyes were on the beautiful mansion. It had been a long time since I had my eyes on it. To my surprise, different servants were standing to welcome me home.
Getting close to them, they all bowed their heads and they spoke in unison. "Welcome back home!" The echoes of their voice went throughout the environment. I stepped into the mansion with Mr Paul by my side.
To my amusement, my father was waiting for me inside. Getting to see me when I stepped in, he rose to his feet and he walked up to me. "Daughter. Five years of separation. I am happy you are here again." He hugged me.
I felt pain twisting my heart. My eyes welled with tears as I recounted the day I made the decision to disobey my father's orders.
After the hug, "please have your seat." I sat down on the couch.
"I am happy you are here to claim your position as the heiress of the Watson's empire. In order for this to be a fruition. Sabastian, your soon to be husband is heading here." Hearing that, I twisted the helm of my skirt. I became nervous.
While I was unsettled, I received a call on my phone. Checking it, it was from my secretary. I picked it up. "Hello. The police asked if they should release Mr Greg or have him detained until he pays up." I took a deep sigh. If it was to weigh the pain Greg made me go through, I won't let him off my hook. But then, I decided not to make him suffer since he had learned his lessons.
"Tell them to release Greg. I have no use of him." I ended the call before my secretary could respond.
...
Few hours later. Sabastian walked into the mansion with his father; Mr Leo. My father stood on his feet to welcome him.
"I am sorry for calling you impromptu. You are welcome."
Leo took a deep sigh before he replied. "It's nothing. I heard your estranged daughter has returned."
"Yes. I am sorry for the wait of five years. I told you she will return."
Sabastian and his father had their seats. My father looked at Sabastian and he spoke to him. "Do you like my daughter?" It took Sabastian a moment to reply to my father. He took a long look at me. It doesn't look like he liked me at all.
I felt my heart racing, scared of being rejected. Then he spoke his mind. "Your daughter is indeed beautiful to behold. I like her figure." His response swept me off my feet. I had once thought he would reject me.
"In that case, would you like to marry her?" My father asked and he replied without wasting time. "Yes. In fact, I want to marry her today." Sabastian's response pleased my father.
...
On the day of the wedding. I was in the front of the crowd in my wedding dress. I never knew today would come to fruition. I had avoided today for five years and now I had to face my reality.
"Miss Watson Stacy. Do you accept Mr Sabastian as your lawfully wedded husband?" Hearing that, I swallowed the saliva in my mouth. I knew I didn't love him even though I stared directly into his eyes. I was only doing this just to get to my rightful place.
"Yes. I do." The pope turned to Sabastian. "Do you accept Miss Stacy as your lawfully wedded wife?"
Sabastian looked deep into my eyes. I felt he was lusting after my body. "Yes, I do." He replied firmly.
"With the power conferred on me. I hereby pronounce you as man and wife." "You may kiss your bride." Sabastian stared into my eyes. I felt a seizure in my heart.
For five years, I haven't kissed any man other than Greg. Now, I realized I have to kiss a man I do not love at all. Sabastian was a stranger to me. I thought he would take it easy on me only for him to pull me to himself and kiss my lips.
I forced my lips out of his when I realized it was taking too much time. That single act of his proved my instincts; Sabastian is in love with my body.
While we turned to face the crowd, I was soon shocked to see Greg among them. His eyes reddened and I saw him clenched his fist. He stood on his feet and he started walking up to me.
The fear in my heart increased. I hope Greg wasn't trying to do something ridiculous.
