Eleanora POV
I was overwhelmed with joy as my room filled with the sweet fragrance of roses, creating a delightful atmosphere that warmed my heart.
The light of the crescent moon shone through the window, adding a touch of enchanting beauty that made everything felt like a scene from a Cinderella movie.
I clenched the ring in my hands feeling it softly as I lent out a bright smile filled with hope and anticipation. It was the night before my wedding, just a few hours away from the day I had long awaited.
A knock sounded on the door, followed by a feminine voice, as it rolled open.
"Eleanora."
she called out with a grin on her face, standing at the entrance of my door.
I turned to look, and it was one of the makeup artists I had haired that would be getting me dressed the next day for my wedding.
"I'm here to inform you that I will be dressing you up early at 6 AM tomorrow, so I would appreciate it if you would get some rest so you won't catch sleepy eyes tomorrow, you know tomorrow is your best day so you have to be sound awake," she advised with a grin, then retreated, gently closing the door.
I nodded with a smile.
"Yeah, sure, I will try to sleep early."
I loosened my hair and wiggled it frantically as I walked to my bed and sat on it.
Flashbacks of memories from the first day I met Ferdinand kept running through my head. It felt like yesterday, and the engagement and upcoming marriage seemed like a dream come true.
After college, I worked as a cashier at Clinton Companies and remained single despite my beauty. I decided to stay single because I was scared to experience the same hell I went through in my previous relationship, where my boyfriend would beat me up almost every day and even steal from me. It was a breakthrough for me when we broke up peacefully and went our separate ways. Since then, I have never seen him and I don't bother to.
Meeting Ferdinand was like meeting the man of my dreams. He was kind, lovely, caring, and had everything a woman would ever wanted in a man.
At first, I doubted engaging myself into a relationship with Ferdinand, with the fear of him being a playboy that would cheat on me without any sympathy due to the unique qualities he possessed or end up having the same character as my previous jackass boyfriend which I regretted knowing.
But after spending some time with Ferdinand, I discovered that Ferdinand was nothing but a sweet soul that any woman would love to be with, and all my doubt and fear was just some part of my past that's trying to draw me away from the happiness I always wanted.
Now, getting married to him felt like fulfilling my life's wish. Tomorrow would be the happiest day of my life because I would be wed to the man I truly loved.
I fell onto the bed as memories and flashbacks ran through my head. I wished Ferdinand was close to me so we could share the old times memories together, but he was in a different room with his male friends. It was customary for the bride and groom to stay in separate rooms so that different makeup artists could dress us up before we see each other for the wedding ceremony. It was a tradition that had to be followed.
I grew impatient and just wanted to be with Ferdinand, even if it was just to spend some time outside while staring at the beautiful crescent moon with him, it was the perfect time of the night where the beautiful moon set and it enchanting beauty brightened, I wanted us to have a glimpse on how it feels, me and him alone. Moreover, it was not against the rules of the tradition to spend time outside, it could only be against the rules, when we sleep in the same room till the next day.
I stood up from the bed and walked to the door, holding its handle with both hands, then I twisted it downwards and walked outside in my nightgown. Though everywhere was busy with music and guests.
Everything was just so perfect, the scent of the barbecue filled the air, and the enchanted cellophane music lit the mood, creating a romantic presence all around the mansion.
I looked to my left and saw Ferdinand's friends having fun, drinking, eating, and chatting. I thought Ferdinand might be with them, so I walked over to their table. As soon as they saw me, they were overjoyed and congratulated me. All I could do was smile and accept their pleasantries.
"Have you seen Ferdinand? I was thinking he would be with you guys," I asked curiously with a warm smile after noticing Ferdinand was not with them.
"Oh, we left him in his room. He said he would join us as soon as he finished what he was doing," one of his friends, George, replied.
"Why not join us and wait for him? Nothing is more special than sharing a meal with the bride."
he added with a scoff and laughed, while the rest of his friends playfully, urged me to join them.
"No, don't worry. I'm okay," I assured with a fluttering smile.
"I'll go check up on Ferdinand in his room. Maybe we'll come join you guys to celebrate," I added, then walked away.
I wasn't the type of person who drinks alcohol because I easily get drunk and end up sleeping more than I could handle. Drinking anything like alcohol now could just ruin my day. It would make me look weak and even more tired when I woke up tomorrow, and besides, I'm being warned by the makeup artist to make sure I didn't get myself worked out so I won't get stressed the next day.
so I'm trying not to take any risk that could ruin the day I had long awaited.
I walked back to the mansion, my nightgown rolling on the soft fancy tiles with my hands touching the smooth wall as I maneuvered My way Straight to Ferdinand room.
On reaching the door, a sense of relief filled my soul, my breath stuffed with anticipation of joy and accomplishments. I couldn't wait to push the door open so I could see the man in my fairytale story. It felt special to me, that I could let go of my curiosity.
Just as I was about to push the door open, a sudden faint voice brushed my ear, before it became a little louder.
I paused a bit, pushing my ears a little further to Concentrate so I could hear the voice more clearly. My mind snapped, not only snapped but got puzzled. This voice was not just some random voice, but a woman's voice moaning, calling Ferdinand's name slowly adding with the sound of something clapping, and it was all coming from Ferdinand's room.
Different questions ran through my mind as I tried to imagine what was really happening behind the other side of the door. Could it be someone else or Ferdinand himself inside the room, or am I hallucinating.
"What is happening?"
I muttered under my breath, my mind raising.
At some point I could feel my heart beating so fast as if it wanted to plug out of my chest. I was curious. I can't wait to see the scene unfolding on the other side of the door. I want to clarify the horror inside my thoughts if I wasn't truly hallucinating.
Eleanora POV
With curiosity, I push the door open, only to see an unbelievable scene happening right in front of me.
My eyes widened in disbelief, my jaw dropped, seeing my best friend Zoey bouncing on top of my Ferdinand, my husband to be, it was like a nightmare to me, a nightmare I would like to wake up from.
I couldn't believe my eyes. It was like a hallucination. Could it be real, or was my head playing tricks on me? I asked myself with trembling hands.
"No, no, this can't be true," I panicked with mumbled words, shaking my head frantically in disbelief, trying to convince myself that it was all a dream, but hell no it wasn't, it's real and I am losing it already, my body already getting numb.
At this point, I was confused about what to do next. Should I fall to the ground and scream in pain, or should I faint out of my racing heart?
Thousands of thoughts ran through my mind, making my heart shatter into pieces.
I held my chest and fell to my knees gradually. I could bet that at that moment, I felt my heart stop. Could it be a heart attack or a seizure? I held my chest and struggled for breath.
Zoey, who was my best friend and supposed to be my maid of honor, was now the one f**king my man? On the night before my wedding?
As soon as Zoey noticed my presence, she snapped and quickly dropped down from Ferdinand's body.
she hurriedly wore her clothes while my watchful eyes were set on her in disbelief.
She picked up her high heels, and then quickly exited the room. I could not move or do anything. All I could feel was my body stuck to itself, restraining me from moving or saying a word, my lips trembling.
Before I knew it, my vision started becoming blurry. Then suddenly, everything went blank, as I gradually fell to the ground.
Waking up, my sight was still blurry, I squinched my eyes trying to focus my sight to have a look on my environment, and Gradually everything became clearer, only for me to see Ferdinand by my side, caressing my hands softly.
I stood up abruptly from the bed, glaring at Ferdinand with disgust. My gut was filled with thousands of words to spill out, but I couldn't. It was as if something was blocking the passages of my throat-or could it be the anger that had piled up inside me?
"How... how could you?" I stuttered under my breath, barely able to talk. I could feel a sudden pain passing through my gut as I tried to speak.
"Baby, it was a mistake," Ferdinand tried to apologize while moving closer to me.
"Don't! Don't get close to me," I uttard flatly, with a furious glare.
"I trusted you! I trusted you with my life, and this is how you repay me? By cheating on the night before our wedding? And not only that but with my best friend?" I spoke with a crackling voice, almost crying as tears began piling up inside my eyes threatening to drop.
"Please, baby, you have to listen to what I want to say," Ferdinand begged.
"It wasn't my fault. I was tempted, please believe me."
"You were tempted?" I raised a brow then scoffed.
"You must be silly for saying that! Why? Why must it be on the night before our wedding? Don't you have respect for me? Don't you love me? I thought everything was perfect, but then this happened." I added with disbelief my voice trembling, tears began dropping from my eyes.
"Eleanora, you have to understand, all that I am telling you now is nothing but the truth. I was tempted by your so-called friend. Please believe me," Ferdinand begged again.
I was quiet, unable to say any more words. All I could do was fold my arms across my chest and glare at Ferdinand with disbelief and anger.
"You know this marriage has to happen, right?" Ferdinand spoke again with mumbled words.
"What?" I blurted out a reply with a raised brow.
"To be sincere and clear to you right now, this marriage is over! I can't get married to someone who cheated the night before his wedding. I'd rather die than do that," I spat with disgust.
Infuriated, I pushed Ferdinand.
"Get out of my way, you wolf in sheep's clothing! I hate you!" I muttered with gritted teeth, tears gushing out more from my eyes.
Ferdinand grabbed my hands and yanked me toward his chest, glaring at me, his eyes were so cold and scary and I could feel the horror within his stare, it was so devilish and blood taste making my body stiff.
"Do you want us to be the laughing stock of the day? What do you want people to say if this marriage doesn't hold? Do you want to disgrace your family and mine?" Ferdinand questioned, his hands clenching hard on my wrist as he yanked me more into his chest staring deep into my eyes.
"It's better I disgrace them than getting married to a liar and a womanizer," I barked Angrily at Ferdinand's face, my lips almost meeting his and I felt like spitting on his face. I saw him more disgusting than anything as at this moment.
Before I could uttard another word, Ferdinand's lips pressed against mine. My mind snapped, but I suddenly realized I couldn't pull away. His lips were so soft and tasted like strawberries he began kissing me hard, and uncontrollably.
We kissed for some moments before he pulled away. I followed his lips with mine, craving for more but he pushed back. Sometimes I feel like Ferdinand had charmed me because I don't know why at a moment like this, he still had the guts to kiss me and make me fall for his tricks.
"Eleanora, this marriage has to be held please, I want you to put aside all that has happened. We are couples, and we can settle this later. Please," Ferdinand assured with a calm and convincing smile that sent a wave of relief over my body, like a witch casting a spell of hypnosis into me.
But why? Why was I falling for his words? I could feel myself bending to his will as if I was being controlled by a dracula. Before I knew it, my mouth spoke out by itself.
"Promise you won't cheat again?"

Ferdinand held me by the hands staring deep into my eyes.
"Baby, trust me on this; everything will be fine," he assured with a convincing smile, giving me hope of a new found start.
His smile was so brainwashing, always getting me to fall to his command like a dracula hypnotizing its victim.
"Please, it's already time. You have to return to your room so you can quickly get dressed," he added after a peck on my cheek.
"Already time?" I muttered with a slight raised brow, gripping my nightgown tightly.
"Yes."
Ferdinand replied.
"Sorry, I forgot to tell you. You eventually passed out yesterday and slept throughout the night in my room," he added with a gasp.
I was unaware that it was already morning, thinking it was still yesterday, everything just happened in a flash. Ferdinand walked to the window side and rolled the curtain open. The light shone on my face, and I could feel that same joy returning to my heart-but with doubt. Deep inside me, I didn't want to disgrace my family. So, agreeing to what Ferdinand said seemed like the best choice. I sighed, then walked out of Ferdinand's room.
"Ma'am, I have been looking for you everywhere! Where have you been?" a voice sounded just ahead of me, snapping me out of my thoughts. I was unaware that I had been walking one step at a time while staring at the tiles downwards.
I raised my head and saw that it was the makeup artist who was supposed to get my face done as early as possible.
"Oh, sorry, I... I..." I tried to speak but suddenly began stuttering.
The makeup artist, Jane, stared at me confusingly before responding.
"Ma'am, no need to explain. Let's just go to your room so I can get things done before the wedding ceremony begins."
"Your mother is already waiting for you; she came to your room earlier before now," Jane added.
"She came?" I asked curiously with a surprised look.
"Yes, ma'am. I told her you must have gone out to get something. After that, she left. Your mother was curious to see you though, she's such a lovely woman" Jane replied with a grin.
I got to my room and quickly freshened up. When I came out of the bathroom, Jane was already ready with her makeup tools, preparing to perform her magic on my face.
I sat on the chair, and Jane stood in front of me. She took the powder brush, dusted it on my face, and then started working her enchanting talent on me.
"Can I ask you a question, Jane?" I asked politely, forcing a smile from my face.
"Yeah, sure," Jane replied, then continued what she was doing.
"What would you do if you found out that your best friend was a betrayer?" I asked with my lips pursed, looking for an exact answer that could clear off my broken and betrayed heart.
"This is a tough question, but if I'm to judge, I think I would leave the friend for good because she might repeat the same thing over and over again," Jane replied with a scoff, chuckling.
"Are you experiencing the same issue?" she asked jokingly, still haven't gotten a hint of what had Happened, but i think her random question was actually heating a point.
"No, no," I retorted with a chuckle, faking a smile.
"I'm not. I'm just curious about how people tackle such issues," I replied.
"Oh, okay," Jane smiled, using the brush on her hands as it moved round my face.
Some minutes later, Jane was fully done with the makeup on my face, and I was ready to go.
My wedding gown shimmered in the light with stunning beauty.
"Ma'am, you look very beautiful," Jane complimented with a grin.
I stared at myself in the mirror and saw how beautiful I was, but I wasn't free from the guilt. I felt like what I was doing wasn't the right thing. Deep inside, I knew this wasn't my choice. My heart was broken, and it couldn't be fixed. Sadness suddenly clouded me from the thoughts in my head.
Knock! Knock!
A knock sounded on the door.
"Come in," I replied, gasping while staring at myself in the mirror.
"Oh, my dear Eleanora, you look very beautiful," my mother's voice sounded.
I stood abruptly from the chair I was sitting on and quickly ran towards her, hugging her tightly.
"Mother," I called out.
"My baby, you look very beautiful in the wedding gown," my mum complimented with a warm smile.
"Thank you, Mum," I replied.
"I came here earlier, but your makeup artist told me you went out to get something."
"Yes, that's true," I replied with a grin, trying to hide my broken self, forcing a fake smile on my face to make my mother think everything was fine.
Soon, the ceremony was already starting. I stood at the entrance of the garden where the ceremony was taking place. The garden was designed just perfectly the way I wanted it to be. The flowers were present, the pink cotton yard was well arranged at the top and corners of the transparent roof, and an artificial green carpet was laid from the door where I stood to where the priest was standing.
Ferdinand was at the front together with the priest, staring at me. Ferdinand's father was right beside me. He held my hands, and we gradually walked on the green artificial grass carpet to the front of the stage. Then, I turned and faced Ferdinand. His father looked at me, smiled, and then walked to his seat.
"Are you ready for this?" the priest asked.
Ferdinand nodded his head before I did the same.
"Yes," I replied.
