Alexander in a relaxed form lazed over the comfy couch in the study room with an aloof air around him casted a glance at the domineering figure of his grandfather as he said those words.

His grandpa was not really a bothering type but then when he pressed on a matter it calls for attention, thou he could tolerates him but then this one time would be an exception.

" And why would I want to get married to Ava Grandpa?" Alexander asked.

The look his grandpa threw his way got him smirking, the old man knows he was deliberately playing ignorance, and the thing is he wasn't actually.

" I am alive and healthy, the young lady saved me . The only possible way to show gratitude is to get you married to her" His grandfather said while adjusting on his seat.

"Grandpa, I already told you that I really appreciate the kind gesture of the young lady, and even before you brought up this matter, I already decided the right way to reward her , let's leave it that way" Alexander explained.

His grandfather gave him a scrutinized look while relaxing into his seat, Alexander didn't really know what he was thinking but then this matter has been dragging on and his grandfather was really serious about it.

Linda was the only woman he has in his life, thou troublesome to some extent, he cares about her. He isn't going into an arranged marriage just because his grandfather said so. Since his parents passed away, his grandfather has tried all he could to make sure he was well taken care of, he had strive to fill in the gap of both his lost parents and he loves him for that .

Now that this same issue is dragging on , he didn't want anything that would bother the old man especially since his good heart could be taken for granted by another. This is becoming an issue he needs to address.

"Alexander, can you listen to me on this, I know you don't know much about this young lady but I as your grandfather can tell you what is right, or esle you don't care about this old man again , His grandfather insisted.

Was his grandpa playing the emotional game again, he didn't wait another second to argue as he stormed out of the study room. The door making a loud sound due to the force he used.

His heavy steps sounded on the ground as he made his way out to the living room. His grandfather lives here , this is actually their family house and he has his own place he stays, but then his grandfather needed as much attention as possible, so he stays here more often.

Getting outside the house , his driver opened up the door of the car and he slid into the back seat, as he instructed the driver where he was going to. The car drove out of the house and he has only one place he was headed to in mind.

Ava stepped out of the kitchen holding the refreshments she needed at that moment, she just got home and was a bit exhausted from the hectic day she had at the hospital, she was happy she rounding up early, as she still have another section in the next two hours.

Now that she was at home , she would just enjoy it while it lasted and she also need to put in to consideration her lacking behind schedules, it seems tomorrow was also jam-packed for her.

Ava rubbed in between her brows in exhaustion as she settled into her couch. She pulled off her shoes and rubbed her aching ankles, she had been standing for hours, even her knees ached.

She flunged her bag to the side couch and picked up her tablet to begin work. They are some appointments she hadn't accepted on her work schedule and were still awaiting her approval. All this meant money strimming in for her and she thou was selective couldn't resist some offers .

Just as she was fully engrossed into her planning, she heard the doorbell ring and wondered who was at her door, she definitely wasn't expecting anybody, she didn't order anything either to have someone at her door ringing the bell for it.

Her only friend isn't available at this moment and she clearly couldn't access her since a long time due to reasons she would rather not say, then who was it.

Having no choice , she stood up and went for the door when the ringing persisted. As she got there, she opened up and the person standing before her surprised the living day light out of her.

What was he doing here? Did something happen to his grandfather to have brought him to her house? From the look of his appearance, he clearly looked angry but was controlling it and she was quite confused.

His glaring eyes casted down on her as he towered over her , she would consider herself tall on a normal day but beside him she was short. His tall frame dominated her entrance as she drank in the appearance of Alexander.

She watched as he dipped his hands into his pockets and brought out something, She didn't know what he was actually upto but then she just wait for him to state his purpose of coming to her house, her cheek flushed under his gaze as she tried to compose herself.

Thou there was still some matters his grandfather has discussed with her and she was waiting for what next he would say to her, afterall she was okay with the arrangement but she can't say the same for the man before her. His personality was unpredictable the few times she had an encounter with him but then who knows?

"Hi Ava, here " Alexander extended a check to her .

Ava brows narrowed as she collected the check looking at him before finally checking out the check he extended to her, her eyes widened at the amount on the check. All her life she had deal with transactions requiring checks so she could recognize it at a glance. But the huge amount in here made her dumbfounded, who wouldn't want such amount of money? She was a lover of money you know and she makes sure she works hard for it but then why had he given her this check containing a huge sum of money.

Ava raised her head and as if he was expecting her to look up , he made eye contact and made an offer to her.

"This is hundred million dollars, this is a huge sum for saving my grandfather's life "

Her eyes brighten up as she heard his words, she just couldn't describe how she was feeling at the moment, but then just as she was getting excited and wanted to appreciate him , he spat out...

"The arranged marriage is also cancelled "

This is hundred million dollars for saving my grandfather' s life and the arranged marriage will be put to hold in exchange " Alexander reframed his words while confirming his words to the confused Ava.

Alexander accessed Ava ' s facial expression from shock, excitement to have hit a jackpot to clear confusion, he knew what was next she would do and then his work here is done......

"What do you mean by I should take this hundred million dollars on the condition to cancel the arranged marriage?"Ava inquired .

Ava looked down at him as he voiced out his last statement, thou tempted by the money, she also loved this particular man before her which was why she agreed to the arranged marriage when his grandfather had proposed it.

Her heart beats crazily for this man and she knew deep within her how much she yearns for him, should she just confess her feelings to him? But then would he even understand her at all?

This man was clearly unpredictable and any wrong move might just give her off totally, she doesn't think she would tell him.

"I know you heard me right, I don't like to repeat my words so I hope you can juggle through your thoughts and recall my exact words,"Alexander blunted

"What I mean is that I would rather get married to you than take this money, afterall this is a union we are talking about and I have accepted wholeheartedly to it, "Ava said while making her stand known.

"Then you leave me no choice at all, because you are clearly after my wealth and that is so absurd, I am being kind enough to appreciate you with hundred of dollars you know, Alexander taunted her.

"Why would you think I would want to reap off your family simply because I agreed to get married to you, you are simply being mean," Ava argued.

"Then prove me wrong and let's forget my grandfather ever mentioned an arranged marriage between us and accept this huge sum of money as a compensation for saving my grandfather's life" Alexander brows narrowed gauging her reaction.

Ava was dumbfounded and couldn't say anything else after what he had told her about trying to reap off his family, was this how low he thought of her ? He was clearly being annoying and she has nothing else to say to him and decided to just shut her door at his face.

She hadn't invited him in because she was very surprised to have seen him and he also went directly to state why he came looking for her afterall they were on it till now she could feel her leg aching which was previously already relieving her.

"Let's talk better inside then, "Alexander said and made his way in.

What the...... Ava gritted her teeth at his audacity to just walk into her house the way he liked, his domineering presence occupied the large living room making it seem less large , his presence makes everything around him pair less.

He sat comfortable on the couch opposite where she was seated, she occupied her own side of the couch and had to clear her throat to make the air less awkward for them.

"I sincerely appreciate if you would consider not marrying me, because I am practically a stranger to you and the first time you saw me was when we encountered each other during my grandfather illness, you can't spend the rest of your life with someone who doesn't love you , Alexander explained to her.

Where he was wrong was the fact that she just knew him , she knew him long before they met at his car concerning his grandfather illness, she had also loved him all her life, he was the main reason......

Ava sighed from her drifted thoughts, she knew she couldn't afford to let this one time opportunity go pass her .

The ringing of a phone blared in the air as Alexander 's phone rang on, he picked it while glancing at the caller id.

He spent few minutes on the phone and she kept her face on his watching all the expression he made , he ended the call and she saw a flash of panick in his eyes .

"What's wrong?" Ava was pushed to ask.

"Granpa fainted and I need to go now"Alexander said and stood up.

Wait.....I will go along with you, just give me few minutes to pick a flat footwear and lock up the house, I can be of help, Ava offered and went off into the room without waiting for his reply.

When she came out , she didn't see him in the living room but when she stepped out , she saw his car ,he horned and she quickly locked up and got into the car.

Ava sat beside grandpa Pascal 's bed, Alexander stood at a side in the room looking tensed .

"He is fine, but the stress he is going through is taking a toll on him for his age, he needs not to be stressed, for now he is just asleep and would wake up soon" Ava spilled .

Thanks, Alexander said as his initial tensed shoulder became relieved , he knew too well how scared he was just now, his grandfather was all he had as a family and he loves him a lot.

His grandfather eyes flickered opened as he tried to steady his gaze while awake, Ava walked to his side to help him sit up on the bed while offering him a glass of water.

Thank you Ava, Alexander you are here, His grandfather spoke .

"I am , you gave us a scare grandpa, Alexander hoarse voice sounded .

"I was just overthinking that's why, I don't know how to make you see that what I am doing is for your good and also a means of showing gratitude to Ava, if you really care about me , you would consider that, His grandfather sounded.

Ava stood outside Granpa Pascal 's room and was looking forward to going home since she had rap up her attending to the old man, he was really agile and only had to scare his grandson abit to yield.

When Alexander had brought up how he was willing to compensate her and the amount he had offered, his grandfather reprimanded him. Alexander was insisting it was the money she wanted to reap off his family that made her agree to the marriage.

The argument went on till Alexander stormed off without initiating an argument again which was unlike him, she was also done and decided to head home after saying her farewell to the old man who was resting.

Ava stepped into the living room and saw a petite woman who just walked in as the maids acknowledged her respectfully.

The woman was looking beautiful and her innocent face carries an hint of something she couldn't point out , the young lady was an eye catch and clearly the type who demands attention wherever she was.

Ava knew who this lady was , she is Linda by name, apart from being one of the A list celebrities in New York, she was also the woman Alexander loves, and the reason he was clearly rejecting the arranged marriage.

"Hey who are you? I am Linda, Linda inquired while giving a scrutinized look of displeasure .

"I am Ava, I know you as an A list celebrity in New York, you are amazing, Ava acknowledged her respectful.

"Oh.... I see, I am flattered but I didn't ask for your name thou but never mind, Linda said and walked past her to settle on the couch.

Linda was clearly being sassy and she had to just put up with her, the lady wasn't displaying any of the beautiful characters she portray as a model on social media, the image the bloggers gave about her was an error compare to the way she is behaving.

Ava wondered if she had any idea if Alexander was at home because she was seated so comfortably like she owns the house, this was quite irritating to her and she found it annoying.

Wait till I get married to him, and he would be all mine and I would kick your sassy ass, Ava thought,but her thoughts was clearly not going with reality because this was clearly the woman Alexander loves dearly.

The front papers takes few of their pictures on beautiful dates together and how attentive he was towards her career, he always looked out for any occasion concerning her career and supported her financially and more.

She has indeed been watching him from afar for a long time, now that she got the opportunity to be with him, she wouldn't let it pass her by either.

Linda laid lazily and access her phone from her bag while dailing a number.

Hello Xander , I just got to your house and met a stranger who calls herself Ava, Linda reported while switching her tone of approach.

Ava was gobmasked at her incredulous way of switching attitude.

Alexander breathed out in his car in the middle of road , he could remember how persuasive his grandfather was when he was talking about the arranged marriage, his grandfather means alot to him and he couldn't afford to make him uncomfortable.

His phone rang out disrupting the silence maintained in the car, he picked it up and checked who the caller id was. The person was someone he always go to whenever he needs a break from all the heavy loads his head carries to be less burdensome. He picked up and waited for her to speak .

Hello Xander, I just got to your house and saw a stranger who calls herself Ava, Linda voice sounded over the phone, her soft voice made him feel relaxed.

But did she just say she was at the house? He wasn't really against it but....

Why did you go to the house without informing me? and why didn't you go over to my place instead? Alexander inquired.

"What do you mean Xander? I was thinking to surprise you and didn't know you won't be around, and you rarely stay over at your place , Linda explained while sounding meek as if she has been wronged.

" Fine... I was wrong, but you know grandfather isn't feeling well this days and he might just behave cranky when he sees you, just wait , I will be there soon, Alexander coaxed her.

" Your grandfather clearly doesn't like me, I will wait for you then , don't stay long, Linda replied and he hung up.

Ava looked at Linda as she got off the phone, why would you even think of visiting someone when you haven't informed the owner of the house? Linda looked over at her and told her Alexander was on his way.

Ava gave a scrutinized look at the relaxed Linda as she ordered the maid on the meal she wanted,she was making herself feel at home and she was intentionally behaving like the madam of the house.

Ava grew irritated and decided to stay till Alexander comes back , she couldn't leave the both of them alone knowing fully well what they could do when left alone, she was able to tolerate them from afar before but now knowing fully well she would be his wife soon, she won't stay still after all she doesn't have anything she was doing...

Shit! Her appointment at the hospital, she would have love to stay but then she couldn't, Ava walked out of the living room.

Just as Ava left the house, Alexander' s car drove into the house as he came down and made his way into the mansion.

Alexander expected to see Ava and Linda but then he could only see the relaxed Linda on the couch munching on her refreshments as she watched the Tv.

It seems Ava left already, this was why he had to hurry back because he doesn't want any issue to arise and disturb his grandfather who was clearly resting.

He looked around and walked fully inside towards Linda, Linda moved her eyes away from the Tv and when she saw him , she threw herself into his arms.

They both hugged and he had to break the embrace to sit on the couch while setting her on the couch too, he could see how happy she was to see him.

" How did your day go? Alexander asked as he broke the silence.

" it was fine , and I missed you all day, we didn't see for hours now, do you miss me?Linda complained while pouting.

" I do, I would have visited when I wrap things up at my side here but I have just been busy, but now you are here, Alexander coaxed her.

" Have you eaten? Linda asked while relaxing on his chest.

" Not really, are you hungry? Alexander inquired while stroking her hair.

" I am famished and I also want to spend time with you, let's go to your place......Linda hinted but was cut off when Granpa Pascal came to view in the living room.

" Granpa Pascal, how are you feeling? Xander told me how you are feeling and I wanted to check up on you when I came but the maids said you were resting" Linda soft tone said to him.

" I am fine, don't worry, Grandpa Pascal monotone voice sounded as he instructed the maid to get him coffee.

Granpa Pascal turned back to Alexander and said" I want us to talk about the arranged marriage, come join me in the room.

" Ok grandpa, Alexander replied as he watched the departing figure of his grandfather as he walked to his room.

Linda' s head banged as she heard the words of his grandfather, her eyes widen as she looked over at Alexander. Alexander stood up while avoiding her gaze and went to join his grandfather in his room.

The maid walked into the room as Alexander collected the coffee from the maid and sent her away, he walked towards his grandfather on the bed and gave him the coffee.

" I will marry Ava as you said , you don't need to be on the issue and let it affects you Granpa, Alexander blunted.

" That's good....good , you did well Grandson , His grandfather said while acknowledging him.

" I will be staying over at my place , we can talk about how the preparation will go by tomorrow when I come over, just rest and don't worry yourself, Alexander explained to his grandfather.

He collected his cup of coffee and placed it on tray beside him , he turned and walked towards the door.

As he opened the door to walk out, his grandfather ' s words of appreciation rang out as he left him to rest.

Alexander walked back to the living room as he saw Linda seated while having a far away look , she was looking at the Tv but her mind was clearly far away from it.

Alexander called out to her and said" Linda , let's go over to my place as you suggested.

Linda looked over at him and her blank look made him know she was not really okay and he didn't know how to go about what it was.

They both walked out and the driver opened the door for them and they both slide into the backseat. The car zoomed out of the mansion.

The gigantic black gate creeked opened as the car drove into Alexander 's place , they both stepped out as Alexander offered his hand to Linda.

Linda came out and walked ahead into the mansion, the outside was serene and beautiful, the interior deco was breathtaking as Linda stormed upstairs.

Alexander walked in a slow pace as he followed her lead, he walked into the bedroom and saw Linda seated on the bed , he walked towards her and held her hands.

Linda has been silent through out the ride to Alexander's place as she was just deep into her thoughts on what she heard over at his grandfather ' s mansion.

She didn't say anything nor made any attempt to talk to Alexander as she just maintained silence till they got here. And now Alexander was holding her hands and giving her the look of what was wrong.

She didn't know how to say it, because as she was about to form the words out , she got too emotional.

Her sobs followed as she cried her eyes out to the man before her , her shoulder racked as the turmoil in her heart broke free, her sobbing body shivered as she held her hands in a clenched fists .

Alexander moved her into his hands while patting her back and asking why she was crying, he didn't like it when she was sad at all. Her shivering frame enfolded into his as she cried out from her hearts, her eyes became puffy and red.

Alexander made to raise her face from his chest because she has her face plastered on his body and she had soaked his shirt but he didn't mind as he tried to make her look him in the eyes.

When he finally did, Linda looked into his eyes , they gaze burning into each other, Alexander's eyes a clear definition of concern and worry for her.

Linda' s eyes a clear definition of pain, confusion and sadness, she bore her eyes into his making what she felt in her heart known to him as she finally moved her lips and asked :

" Xander are you getting married?"
