Clang...

The sound of a metal hitting the floor could be heard as a body flown across the table.

Standing up Eleana chuckled with a bloody mouth; "So it has gotten to this right? Bringing your mistresses home to stay in the same house with your kids!!!! Are you even human Dane?!!!".

" You can have your fill outside I don't care but this.....this....this is the last straw". Eleana said in an enraged tone.

"Human?? Ha.... You dare to talk back at me woman? You sure have gotten bold, how dare you!!!? This house belongs to me, I am the man of this house and you have to abide by my rules".

" I say who can and cannot enter this house woman and not you, this was just a warning cause the next time you dare interrupt my pleasure time with my baby I will "...

"You will what!???? Eleana interrupted.

"Huh,,,,beat me? rape me? or take me to those whore house and make me watch you pleasure yourself ? What else can you do?"...

"You're testing my patience woman, don't push me".....

"Mummy, daddy are you guys fighting again?", a sob came from the tiny voice of a little girl no more than seven years of age, she stood at the door looking at her parents with tears in her eyes.

Wiping her bleeding lips Eleana cleaned the tears off her eyes and walked to her daughter as she squatted.

"No baby,, mommy and daddy were just talking a bit loudly, did we wake you up?".

Unconvinced her daughter stared at her and raised her little hand to touch her mother's lips, "You're bleeding mommy, you don't have to lie to me I know who did it".

Holding the tears that is trying to spill from her eyes Eleana said, "Oh baby, this..this is just a little cut I got when I slipped and fell, your dad even helped me up. Sorry we woke you, now off to bed you have school tomorrow and we don't want you to be late now do we".

She starred at her father for a while and then looked back at her mother. "Okay mommy, goodnight. I love you okay", Ginny said as she pecked her mother on her cheek.

"Goodnight night baby, mommy loves you more", Eleana kissed her on her forehead.

Ginny walked back up the stairs and Eleana looked back and saw her husband sitting on one of the kitchen chairs as he stared at her.

"Why are you staring at me like that, you want to continue fighting?".

"You are too boring for me to even beat anymore,, come serve me dinner". Dane said as he relaxed on the chair and cross his legs.

"Ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha", Eleana burst into laughter and the tears she has been holding back burst out like flowing water.

"Have you finally gone mad, what are you laughing for?". Dane asked as he looked at Eleana with a scrunched face.

Eleana finally stopped laughing and looked at Dabe weirdly, "Mad?? Mad?, Yes,, I think I am mad, I stayed in this excuse of a marriage for six years, I bore everything for six years Dane. Yes I am mad, I watched you sleep with girls around town , yes I am mad, you made me watch while you Pleasure yourself with those girls and I still stayed, yes I am mad, you turned me to a housewife and a punching bag and now I even let you bring them to our matrimonial home, YES I AM MAD!!!!!!!". Eleana screamed loudly.

"I have been mad for six years to bear these insults and humiliation thinking that maybe, just maybe one day he will change, when his daughters grow up he will change, they will change him, I WAS MAD!!,,,but not anymore, i can't do this anymore". Eleana said as she slumped on the floor.

"Are you done with your ranting, I have to say the performance was nice and cool but I am really hungry now and you know how angry I get when I am hungry, don't test me". Dane said clearly irritated and without any feeling of remorse about what she just said.

"I can't do this anymore Dane, I'm tired". Eleana said in a weak voice, her despair and pain could be felt but the man next to her felt nothing .

Dane finally sat up and looked squarely at her, "You know you could have avoided all this if only you had given me a male child, but no, all you could do was give birth to a bunch of useless girls that can not inherit my business, if only you had given me a son all these would not have happened!!!".

"So just stop with your sob story and get me some food, when you are done let me know, oh also cook for Sarah she hasn't eaten anything since we have been busy all day, you know", he said as he gave her a wink.

He stood up and walked past her as he headed up the stairs.

"Let's get a divorce". A meek voice muttered.

Dane immediately stopped in his footsteps and turned around abruptly, "What did you just say?",

Standing up and straightening her clothes Eleana looke directly into Dane's eyes and said much more clearly and boldly, "Let's get a divorce, you want a male child which I can't give you and you also have a new lover so we have no reason to be together, let's just get it over with".

Dane looked in disbelief at Eleana, this woman sure has guts now she dare ask for a divorce. "Impossible, you are going now where. We are married for life, I will never let you leave, never ".

Scoff! "Why, we clearly can't stand each other, just let me go".

Walking quickly to her Dane grabbed her hand tightly and looked very angry,"Read my lips Eleana, We..Are..Not..Getting..A..Divorce!!!!!!", he said with gritted teeth.

Having been numbed with all the pain she has ever felt, Eleana wriggled her hands out of his hand and said," I don't want to stay with you anymore Dane, not anymore ".

Dane slapped her hard across the face, "Just try and see if you will win in court because if you do push through with this just know that you will never see your precious daughters again, I will make sure of that". Dane said as he angrily walked up the stairs..

Eleana stared at the empty hair in silence as she looked lost and dejected.

At that moment a little figure came out of where it has been hiding and walked to Eleana and gave her a hug..

With a face full of Surprise, Eleana stared at her daughter in shock, "Baby were you standing there all along?".

"Yes mommy, I heard and saw everything too, don't worry mommy I won't let daddy take us away from you. I will stay with you mommy".

With all the hurts and pains Eleana bend down and hugged her daughter tightly as she sobbed silently..

Georgina Patted her mother's head just the way she would do to her if she is sad, "That's okay mommy, don't be sad anymore, it's okay".

Eleana let her go and looked at her, "Yes baby, this is the last time, mommy wouldn't cry anymore. From now on mommy will just live you and your sister and take care of you guys okay, we will all be very happy soon baby".

"You will be happy too mommy, as long as you are happy we are happy too" Georgina said as she wiped her mother's tears.

"Ha! Awwww, my baby is sooo sweet, yes mommy will be happy with you guys".

"Alright, it's time for bed okay. You have to go to school tomorrow so....mommy will read a story for you", Eleana said as she lifted her and took her inside.

"Okay".

The next morning, Eleana was up early and got her children ready for school, she prepared ths things they needed and took them to school herself without waiting for her husband to wake up.

It was still early so Eleana had to wait for sometime before heading to their school. She took them for a jolly ride and drove back when it was quarter past seven as the school opens at seven-thirty.

She parked the car and they all came down. Eleana carried Isabelle, her second daughter on her arms while she held Ginny's hand and led them to the school gate.

The teachers were already at the gate welcoming the pupils, the gate was less crowded as it was still early.

Eleana put down Isabelle and walked her to her teacher.

"Goodmorning Mrs Dane, you are quite early today". Isabelle's teacher greeted her.

"Morning Miss. Yeah, we decided to be early. Alright Belle, say hello to your teacher".

"Hello", Isabelle repeated in her tiny childish voice.

"Hello sweet Isabelle, you look more beautiful today".

Isabelle gave a big smile and Eleana replied, "Okay baby, your teacher will take you inside okay".

"Hmm,, bye bye mama", Isabelle said as she took her teacher's hand and they walked into the school compound.

"Go with them Ginny, your teacher might be inside already ".

Ginny didn't go with them but looked at her mother and asked worriedly. "Mommy are you alright now?",

Eleana smiled at her and squatted to her height, " Yes baby, mommy is feeling fine now ", she said as she ruffled Georgina's hair.

"Are you going back home?", Georgina asked again.

"Nope, mommy has somewhere else to go this morning, so be a good girl at school okay?".Eleana said and stood up.

"Um, take care mommy, byee", Ginny waved at her mother and then walked into the school compound.

Eleana waved back and watch her until she disappeared into the compound before walking to her car.

Inside the car she opened her bag and took out her phone and dialled a number, she looked hesitant.

"Will she answer my call after all these years?", Eleana thought to herself.

Ring!Ring!Ring!Ring!, the line rang for a while but nobody answered. She dialed again and it still went unanswered, she dialed for the third time but heard the mechanical voice telling her the line was switched off.

"Ha!", Eleana laughed.

"She is still so petty", she dropped the phone and drove off heading downtown to a place she vowed never to set foot on.

As she sped down the road she felt a sense of nostalgia.

"It's been a while since I had a good drive... Would she forgive me?", Eleana thought to herself as she remembered the last time she spoke to Gabriella, her best friend, which didn't end well.

"Listen to me Eleana, I know what I saw and heard, you have to leave this man he isn't good for you".

"Gabby, we've talked about this countless times, I love Dane and...."

"Are you even listening to me Eleana!!!",

Eleana stood up abruptly, "I am, I have been listening to you spout rubbish against my husband and I won't take it any more okay".

She took a deep breathe and held

Gabriella's hand as she sat down.

"Gabby, you are my best friend and I know you want what is best for me and I love you for that, but can you please accept Dane, he is a good man and I love him very much. Maybe you misunderstood what they said ". Eleana said softly.

Gabriella snatched her hand back and said firmly; " I didn't misunderstand anything and I can't watch you do this to yourself, you have to leave him El".

"Well I won't, if you think I am going to leave my husband because you have some suspicions about him then you are highly mistaken ".

"You know what, Dane warned me about you actually. He said you would try to make me leave him. He told me you made advances towards him"

Scoff! "And you believe that?", Gabriella asked.

"I didn't at the time but I'm not so sure now, if you didn't want him why are you trying so hard to convince me to leave him huh? I thought you were my friend ".

"You are like a sister to me Eleana and I don't want you to end up like those girls did, look, just take a look at these pictures, pictures of girls he dated before all complaining of physical abuse , are you sure you want this life for yourself, huh, for your child?", Gabriella asked with a slightly raised tone.

"Dane has never hit me and if it were true why didn't those girls report it Huh? Why keep quite about it?". Eleana asked filled with doubts.

"Because they can't, they were paid to keep silent , don't forget his family is rich, they can pay off anyone!. Listen to me Eleana, when you leave him we can leave this country or go far away and makes sure he never finds you or your child and....."

"Enough!!, I don't want to hear another word. I am not leaving my husband just because you say so, right now I think Dane was right. You want him too right? You want my husband?". Eleana cut off Gabriella rudely.

"I can't believe this, you would choose to believe what an outsider said over your family ".

"You're the outsider!!!...Dane is my husband and what are you to me? huh? Family? Friend?, I don't think so, my family wouldn't try to break up my marriage".

"Then what am I to you?", Gabriella asked softly.

An eerie silence followed after Gabriellla asked that question.. Everything came to a stand still and Eleana was at a loss on what to say.

"At the moment, I don't know". Eleana replied truthfully.

Gabriella looked at her with shock and pain written on her face. Then she looked down and scoffed bitterly.

"I see, well, thank you for making me know that now. If I leave here and you still don't believe me then do not contact me ever again".

" I won't!! I will never believe what you just said about my husband ".

Gabriella stood up and took her bag; "Then I guess this is good bye, take care of yourself Eleana and for your children's sake, I hope you don't regret this".

"I will never regret it!". Eleana said stubbornly.

"I pray so", Gabriella replied as she walked out with great sadness.

Eleana looked at her back sadly and that was the last time she saw her dear friend again.

It's been three years now, can she ever forgive me? Sigh!.

Eleana arrived at a simple looking house on the outskirts of the city, it was where she and Gabriella lived before she got married to Dane.

She parked the car at the side of the road and walked towards the building.

The walkway of the house was covered in leaves and the place looks deserted.

"Is she no longer living here?", Eleana thought.

Seeing the depilated figure of the house ,Eleana decided to ask around. She walked to the house across the street and stood in front of the door.

She looked at the door for a while as she contemplated whether to knock or not. Finally coming to a conclusion, Eleana knocked on the door.

"Who is it?". The voice of a woman could be heard from inside the house. The door opened and a middle aged woman walked out.

"Hello, who are you?".

Eleana stared at the woman in front of her and couldn't help but tear up.

-She has gotten a few wrinkles, I can't believe I'm standing here after all these years-.

The middle aged woman look intently at Eleana as she tried to remember where she had seen her.

"Do I know you, you look a bit familiar?", the woman asked as she looked closely.

With a sad smile, Eleana replied; "Ma Kim, I guess you can't remember me as it's been five years since you last saw me, back then when I visit, you usually make your delicious sweet and sour pork ribs and said you wouldn't give up until I learn how to use the chopstick".

Eleana took the woman's hand in hers, "Come on Ma Kim, don't tell me you still don't recognize me".

At that moment the middle aged lady widened her eyes in disbelief and shock.

"Li...little..little swan, is it really you?".

"Yes Ma Kim, it is me ". Eleana replied with tears pooling on her eyes as she hugged the middle aged woman tightly.

After some time, they sat on a bench in the court yard as they reminisced.

"So, what really happened. Back then you just stopped coming and Lala wouldn't talk to anyone. I couldn't reach you through your cell. What happened to you both? You were closer than sisters", Ma Kim probed.

-Sigh!- , "I said something really bad to her, it was hurtful and degrading and I didn't trust her enough. I thought I was doing the right thing but it turned out that I was wrong, really wrong and it took me so much time to realise that".

Holding the hands of Ma Kim Eleana pleaded earnestly, "So Ma Kim, if you know where she is or any way to contact her please tell me, I want to make this right. I know that I am probably too late but I still want to apologise and let her know how sorry I am for all the hurtful things I said to her, please, help me".

"Hump!", Ma Kim gave off a low sigh.

"She moved out a year ago, I think she was waiting for you. During Christmas every year she always kept you room light shining just as you did when you lived together. No matter what we did we just.... couldn't fill that spot you had with her".

At this time the tears Eleana was trying to hold back fell uncontrollably.

"Now now, don't cry, it's okay". Ma Kim said as she patted her hair.

"I don't know what you did or said to her but I do know that she would really want to see you, no matter how angry she seem. Wait a second",Ma Kim said as she went inside and came out a moment later with a paper on her hand.

"She visited early this year and dropped her address saying we could come over anytime and visit her, take it", Ma Kim said as she gave the paper to Eleana.

"Thank you for this Ma Kim, I really appreciate it. I have to go now, it's getting a bit late. I'll come visit when I can ". Eleana said as she stood up to leave.

"Alright , but come back soon. I'm sure your uncle would have loved to see you before you leave".

"You can pass my greetings to him, and tell him that when next I come I would really love the sweet and sour pork ribs".

"Haha!, he will be happy to prepare it for you. Stay safe Eleana ".

"I will Ma". Eleana replied as she left the house and walked to her car. She took one last look at the abandoned building and drove away.

Eleana was in no hurry to go back, so she drove round the city and only went back when it was time to pick up her children from school.

She got there but was told that Dane had already picked them up.

Eleana had a foreboding feeling about this. -when was the last time Dane picked them up from school?-, Eleana asked herself.

Eleana drove back home and had just entered the house when a tea cup was sent flying in her direction.

She couldn't react as the tea cup hit her squarely on her head. Blood trickled from her forehead pass her face and down to the floor.

Eleana balled up her fist as she refused to let a single tear drop. She looked at him in the eyes as he stare daggers at her.

"Where the bloody hell are you coming back from woman?", Dane asked as he looked at her in anger.

In quietness and meekness, Eleana replied with a question; "Where are the children?".

"I asked you a damn question didn't I? As for the children, since you can run to your secret lover I don't think they need someone like you", Dane spat those words at her.

Eleana walked slowly to Dane as she enunciated each word with her bloodied face adding to the creepiness on her eyes; "Where.....Is....My....Children!!!!".

"How dare you!?", Dane said as he raised his hands to slap her.

At that moment Eleana had , had enough. -No, I can't take this anymore, fight Eleana-.

Just before the slap could land on her face Eleana held Dane's hand with unbelievable force, she then shove him with all her might.

Unfortunately for Dane and fortunately for her, he slipped and banged his head against the table which knocked him out.

She backed away in fear as she thought he was dead; "D...Dane?", she called out softly as she walked to him and checked if he was still breathing .

Hearing and feeling the air from his nostrils, Eleana sighed in relieve. She checked the house but found no trace of her daughters.

-Come on Eleana , think. Where would he hide them-. Eleana thought as she placed round the room.

At the minute, Dane's phone rang. Eleana looked at the caller and it was his mom.

"Of course, where else could they be". Eleana thought. She took the phone and ran out of the house as Dane showed signs of waking up.

She ran to the car and drove out in a frightening speed as she headed to her in-laws home.
