My Cold Hearted Mate

Admiring the Night sky which is highlighted with stars makes the moon look even more fascinating.A beautiful view indeed which never fails to provide a sense of warmth to heart as if Moon goddess herself has embrace me to give the comfort no one succeed to provide.

Cold breeze touched my skin causing the hairs on my body to rise.Wrapping my arms around myself ,I walked further towards the balcony before turning to look at my room.Only source of light in my room is moonlight which I find more comfortable.

My eyes moved back to the sky before it stopped on the Moon.I don't know if it's only me but everytime I admire the moon ,I find a smile on it which makes me doubt my eyesight or maybe I had develop a habit to find happiness in the things which could never hurt me or give me false hope.

My eyes slowly travelled to the stars before I felt someone's strong gaze on me.My eyes itself moved to the direction only to lock with a pair of red glowing eyes which stared right back into mine.

The shadows around him made it hard to get a clear view of his face but the sharp fangs didn't go unnoticed by me which almost made me gasp realising it's a Vampire but what is he doing in our territory, that too alone or maybe there are more.

I flinched before consciously turning around as a thumping sound echoed in my room.

A sigh of relief washed over me as I find Lily, my cat on the table staring directly at me with her big doe eyes while the lamp which was supposed to be on table is now on the floor.

She mewled before jumping towards the bed.I turned around to look back at the tree where I spotted the vampire earlier only to find no figure on it.

Was I hallucinating? I looked around for a few more minutes but there was nothing suspicious so I walked inside my room and grabbed the lamp before carefully placing it on the table then dragged my feets towards the bed and plopped myself on the soft mattress letting out a hum of satisfaction.

A soft smile appeared on my lips after seeing Lily snuggling to the pillow.My eyelids turned heavy and I soon fall asleep.

I rushed out of my house in a hurry not forgetting to take my bag along with me as I am running late for School.

"Scarlett get in , I'll drop you" I stopped on my tracks after hearing a familiar voice and tilt my head to my left to find Marcus ,Beta of the pack.

He removed his sunglasses revealing his jet black eyes which stared at me amusingly since I'm not the type of girl to be late for school.He is very friendly that it never feels awkward.I nodded before hopping into the car.

"You didn't have a good sleep?" He asked, my brows furrowed at his words.A chuckle left his lips after scanning my confused expression.

"You look pale" He remarked.I watched how his muscles flexes everytime we took a turn.He has a white t-shirt on matching with ripped skinny jeans.His features are eye catching and almost every unmated she-wolf had develop a crush on him but to their dismay ,he had find his mate when he turned 18 and now they are happily married.

"Scarlett, get straight home after school.Don't go anywhere especially in woods without anyone beside you" I froze, his voice this time is serious more like a command.

He opened the car door for me.Standing at least 6feet tall which makes his aura more stronger and intimidating.Perfect for his title ,Beta.

"Okay" I said nonchalantly very well aware that there must be something going on in our pack.And now I couldn't help but to recall the scene I witnessed last night.

The thought itself ran shivers down my spine.Vampires and werewolves doesn't have a good history which is why no pack has given permission for vampires to enter the territory and vice versa.If they ever came face to face then it's only going to bring disaster.

I bid him bye before entering the School building.I directly made my way to the class where my friend exactly would be.

As I assumed there he is sitting alone ,far away from the students , completely engrossed in the book.He looks so calm and soft with those glasses on while his geyes are fixed on the book which makes me envy him at how he is able to concentrate in the midst of chaos.

He didn't even noticed my presence until I snapped my fingers in front of his face, earning his attention.

"Hey" I greeted while pulling the chair to take a seat beside him.

"Hi" He smiled before adjusting his glasses.

"Look at the nerd!" The boys laughed who walked passed by our table.I greeted my teeth in anger at their unwanted comments.

I slammed my palm on the table earning everyone's attention including the group of boys who laughed earlier.My dark eyes stared right into the pair of brown orbs which held fear.He gulped not being able to contain the eye contact and looked away.

"Sorry Herrick" He apologized lowly and walked away followed by his friends.

"Stop scaring them" Herrick laughed.I shrugged my shoulders before crossing my arms against my chest.

I have observed Herrick since middle School and he is a very quiet and reserved guy.But others bully him reasoning it as his weakness.I used to get same treatment from other students but mostly from students of my old Pack.

They spread rumors which became reason for my loneliness.It changed when they graduated since they were seniors and my life take a drastic turn which is why I came to Crystal Moon Pack and in one year I trained myself with the help of Alpha who is kindest and understanding.

I still remember the day I got into a fight when I stood against my bullies.Since then they all feared me and my personality changed as well resulting in them tagging me from 'weak link' to 'Cold Hearted'

In all the mess , me and Herrick clicked together.A rogue left him near the pack border when he was just a pup and since then Alpha has taken care of him which I got to know after proving myself a good friend to Herrick.

He is my only friend and vice versa.One thing is still weird that even after them having a wolf ,I still win over them which is really strange since I never shifted after turning 15.That was one of the reason for them to bully me.

"Did you notice the tight security in our pack?" I asked Herrick who was again engrossed in his book.

He placed the book aside and turned his whole attention on me with his hands resting on the table.

"Yes I noticed ,Alpha added few more warriors to our pack border and everyone is on high alert.Last week we had rogue attack but this time it's not only about rogues.I have never seen Alpha that stressed, Some danger is definitely around our pack and maybe for other packs as well.Alpha mind linked every pack members to not go further in the woods or roam out alone.We will be informed once situation is under control"

I nodded after hearing his every word attentively.

"So this is why Beta Marcus told me to not roam around alone" I whispered which Herrick catched with his wolf hearing.

"You are capable of getting the position of 3rd in command" I complimented.My brows ceased as he just shrugged.

"Are you not eating these days?You look so pale" He remarked ,his eyes hooded with concern for me.

"I didn't feel like eating" I shrugged.He opened his mouth to say something but shut it as the teacher walked in the class.

During break -

"Have you seen the New Alpha ,he is so handsome"

"His voice is so sexy.I wonder how he sounds in bed gosh I can't even imagine how good he would sound"

Some girls walked passed by me while giggling and squealing to themselves. I almost puked after hearing their conversation.

The New Alpha? Wait which pack members were they? I thought before turning my head to take a glimpse of them but they were already out of my sight.

Forget it, who cares..

I entered the Cafe and searched for Herrickk before taking a seat beside him.

"You better eat a full meal" He exclaimed.Nodding , I started digging my meal.

"Shoot I forgot to tell you something.I really don't know if I was hallucinating or not but last night I saw a Vampire on the tree right beside my house"

He choked on his food.My eyes widened as I quickly gave him water.

He gulped down the water in one go and looked at me in disbelief.

"You are telling me this now?"

Nodding,I continued munching my food.

"We need to inform Alpha" He suggests.

"But I don't know if I saw him for real"

He heaved out a long sigh before shaking his head mumbling something to himself which I couldn't hear.

I clicked my tongue.

"Fine I'll tell this to Alpha" He gives me a thumbs up, earning an eye roll from me.

School was over ,I was walking with Herrick by my side.His blue sweatshirt matched with my pants.He arched his brows in confusion as I stared at him innocently before opening my mouth to let out the words which came to my mind.

"We look like a couple"

He sigh before smiling.

"You don't know how to flirt.Do you?"

"You need to work on your expressions.You always have a straight face which mostly scares everyone to even approach you"

I rolled my eyes before passing him a sarcastic smile.

"I never wanted to be like this but I don't want to go back to my old self either" I mumbled, my voice devoid of any emotion.

Who am I fooling? He knows me well but he still hasn't seen my most vulnerable side nor I ever want to show it to anyone.I have had enough pain and I want to let it in the past.

He pulled me into a tight hug, my cheek pressed against his chest.How do he know that a hug is all I need in a situation like this.

"I'm okay..." I whispered.

"Alpha wants us in the pack House" He informed me.

"When did he link you?" I asked because I didn't notice him zoning out.

"When I hugged you "

We both talked about what could possibly be the reason for Alpha to call us there until we were in front of the Pack house.

We walked through the Hallway directly towards the Alpha's Study room.I was about to knock but a hand already pushed open the door.I watched how Herrick walked inside freely with me following behind.

"Alpha already know we are here" I heard his low voice as we stopped and watched Alpha Logan going through some papers.

He is wearing a black plain T-shirt with Jumpers.His dragon eyes moved in our direction and a smile made its way on his lips.He straighten his posture before placing the papers into the drawer ,his biceps flexes which didn't only caught my attention but Herrick's as well.

He hasn't find his mate till now and has been looking in others pack for his mate.But most impressing part is that he has never looked at other she-wolf in a romantic or sexual way which is the reason why she-wolfs already envy his mate for being so lucky.

Alpha Logan is very trustworthy, kind and smartest Alpha I have ever seen or heard.He never misused his power which is one of the reason why pack members respects him.

I still remember how I crossed the territory and could have get killed but Alpha asked the reason for me to enter their territory and I only told him about leaving my pack because of my mother's death and he let me be a member of his pack.

The more I stayed in this pack, my respect for him grew even more.And I told him everything that ever happened to me which is why he trained me despite me not having a wolf.

"Alpha" We both bowed to show respect.

"Scarlett and Herrick, make yourself comfortable" Alpha gestured towards the couch which we gladly did.

We waited patiently for him to tell us the reason for calling us here.His eyes directly locked with mine and I could tell he is contemplating with his own thoughts.

"As you both know the situation in our pack, I have decided to visit the Blood Moon and Red Moon pack since these packs are in peace with us.We can get more information regarding the matter"

Okay that's Alpha's decision and usually these kinds of matters are discussed with the Beta but what could possibly be the reason for him to tell us ? To say I am confused would be an understatement.

"Herrick and Scarlett....you both are coming with us and you will stay in Red Moon Pack till the situation is under control"

I joilt up from the couch letting out a 'what?' with shock written all over my face.

Alpha wants me to stay in the Red Moon Pack....

The same pack which has given me only painful memories..

Chatter and whisper could be heard among the pack members as the Council walked towards them.Most of the pack members were tense as it's the gathering to welcome the son of Late Alpha James who is going to be the New Alpha.

His training was supposed to end next month but after the drastic change in the Red Moon Pack, the council ministry came to the decision to entitle him as The New Alpha.

Sounds of chatter came to a halt as a black vehicle came into the view.Their eyes fixed on the vehicle ,two tall manly figures stepped out and scanned the surroundings before nodding to each other and then moved aside to let two muscular figures step out.

The group of warriors dropped to their knees in respect towards their New Alpha , his silver orbs glanced at each person as he walked forward with his head held high.He has chocolate brown hair , some strands of hair covering his forehead giving it a wispy bangs look.

His perfectly defined jaw and features makes the unmated she-wolf stare at him with dreamy eyes.The man's presence itself radiates power.

They all bowed as he walked through the walkway and stopped right in front of his father's brother , Charles,The Beta.He smiled at the younger man in front of him before engulfing him into a hug.

"Welcome son" Charles smiles.

"It's Alpha for you" His voice deep and devoid of any emotion which takes Charles by surprise.He laughed awkwardly to which Lucian clenched his jaw ,he find nothing funny here especially when the Pack is still mourning over their Late Alpha's unexpected death.

"I ,Ben, The Council minister of the Red Moon Pack welcomes The New Alpha Lucian and the new warriors" The council Minister spoke and turned to look at the crowd who all bowed together.

After commanding the Beta to take warriors to the pack House , Lucian heads towards his parents house where his mother must be waiting for him.His steps came to a halt as he sensed the familiar scent around him.

"You don't have to follow me David"

"C'mon you don't have to act like this with me" David spoke as his dark brows furrowed ,he roam his left hand through his long dark hairs making it messier than before.

His hazel orbs locked with Lucian's dull eyes making the male worried.He choose to stay quiet knowing how his Alpha must be feeling.

Without sharing another word ,both of them started to walk again.Lucian breathed out a sigh as his parents' house came into view , how he wished he was there to protect his father.

Both of them stepped inside , Lucian walked upstairs with David quietly following behind.

"Mom..?" Lucian carefully opened the door of her room , finding his mother already awake with a wide smile on her lips.Her dull silver eyes lit up after seeing her son, the feature he inherited from his mother.

She engulfed him into her warm embrace before cupping his face to place a gentle kiss on his forehead.His mother is the only one he shared a good bond with when others tried to manipulate him to be something he never wished.

"I'm glad you are back safely" She said in her weak voice as he placed pillow behind her back to make it comfortable for her.

His stomach crumbled seeing his mother in this condition.She is no more the cheerful lady but almost lifeless which hurts him.

He couldn't help but be worried for her, he don't know how long she'll be able to survive without her mate.The thought itself pains him.

"Who is the young man at the door?" She asked before wiping her tears , pointing at the male who is comparatively shorter than her son.

He dragged his feets towards them.His lips curved upwards into a cheerful smile as he greeted Lucian's mother.

"He is David, I'm going to announce him as my Beta tonight" Lucian said, earning a nod from his mother.

"It's really nice to meet the guy who has become good guidance to my son" She shaked hands with David who smiled softly at her comment.

"Thank you Luna ,it's my responsibility" David said while resting his fist on his chest as a sign of respect and loyalty towards them.

Lucian watched them silently but his mind is not at peace.How could it be when his father has been murdered and mother is not in her best condition.

He had a feeling that something was wrong in the pack when the number of calls reduced with his mother but she didn't told him about his father's sickness and only revealed when he died but for a fact ,he knows that his father couldn't die because of sickness.It must be a planned murder and he couldn't help but feel guilty for not being here.

What's done is done , now he is not going to stay quiet until he finds the murderers and punishes them for their sins.

"Some rogues attacked us when we crossed the Silver Moon Pack but they couldn't stand against us for more than a minute" David's voice snapped him back to reality.

"David !" He exclaimed, his voice filled with authority causing the male to look at him worriedly.

Did I say something wrong? David wonders after hearing the Alpha call out his name in such a threatening tone.

"Lucian...I don't want you to hide any of this from me.I have warned you that it's not safe for you yet you decided to come back" His mother said.

"I can't run away from my responsibilities and I am not cruel to leave my mother after the unexpected events that occurred in our Pack"

"My son is a grown- up man now" She grinned at her son, hiding the fear behind her cheerful voice.

"Take rest mom, I've work to do" He said and hugged her before leaving with David.

..

"Do you suspect anyone ?" David asked before taking a sip of the wine.Lucian who was staring at nothing in particular turned around and leaned his back against the wall.

"Not yet" His mind wanders around the Gamma who is missing and the councils but if he will judge it in that way then each pack member is suspicious which is why he is trying not to over investigate and handle the matter sharply.

"John is weird according to me.He doesn't look happy with your presence" David said about the son of Beta Charles who didn't look pleased by their arrival.

"We will find out soon but first we need to recheck the reports.Our Pack Doctor will be here soon" Lucian stated.

"Alpha !" They both turned their attention to the door to see Charles with his son who looked annoyed until his eyes landed on the Alpha causing him to look down immediately.

"Alpha , I've heard from the council Minister about the announcement of New Beta tonight-

"David will be my Beta" Lucian cut him off shortly.

The father son's duo eyes widened and they shared a look before turning their attention back to the Alpha.

"But according to the rules ,my Son John should be entitled as Beta"

"Rules are to rank the members on their capabilities and David is capable to be the Beta of this pack" Lucian stated.

"This is injustice" Charles roared but shut himself instantly after meeting the hard glare of Alpha.

"If that's so" Lucian tilted his head a little to his left before a smug smirk appeared on his lips sending a wave of fear down the two males while David watched them amusingly.

"Prove yourself John in the battlefield against David" He commands and steps forward causing the pair to step back in unison.

"Alpha at least give them time to prepare and I'm sure David must be tired" Charles reasoned.

"Isn't it the best opportunity? Beta or any other warriors should be capable of fighting any minute despite being tired" Lucian stated in his usual deep tone and walked passed by them with David following behind leaving the father son's duo in distress.They exchanged a look of worry.

"Show them what you are capable of ,John" Charles exclaimed proudly but the panick in John's eyes didn't go unnoticed by Charles.

"You better not disappoint me" Charles exclaimed through gritted teeth and walked away.

Chatters started as a crowd formed around the training field watching the two males who were stretching.David took off his shirt and stood there proudly while few squeals left from she-wolfs who couldn't stop themselves from drooling over the male's well defined body.

John removed his shirt as well and stood opposite David whose face is devoid of any emotion.

"Shift only at my command" Lucian exclaimed firmly while watching them taking their position.

"Fight !" Alpha Lucian announced.

John took the first opportunity to attack David but he dodged off easily and twisted his arm before tossing John's body off his back to the ground earning gasps and cheers from the crowd.

A growl left John's lips as he stared at David with rage ,his eyes glowing yellow already wanting his wolf to take over.

He ran for other attack only to get his body flying in the air and directly falling backwards ,his back came in contact with the tree.It happened in a span of seconds that John couldn't figure out when he got hit by David.

Smell of blood filled his nostrils as he got up again but this time David attacked ,not letting him stand back on his feet again.

John shifted without Alpha's command and attacked David ,the impact made him fall back harshly on the ground.His chest started bleeding at the impact of John's claws against his skin.

"Shift !" Lucian growled catching the crowd's attention who flinched at his raging tone.

David shifts into his wolf form and lets out a loud howl before running towards John to attack.

Everyone watched them attentively and some discussed who has more chances to win.But anyone could tell who is winning. David ,his wolf doesn't seem to leave John anytime soon.

"Submit !" David pinned John down on the ground and placed his claw near his neck but John refused to submit.In a span of seconds ,his sharp canines dug deep into John's neck earning gasps from the crowd and weak growl from John.

David threw him away harshly which made John shift back into his human form.Everyone cheered for David while Charles looked at his son with utmost anger and disappointment.

Someone covered John's naked body and David went behind the tree to shift into his human form and came back wearing only a trouser given by a pack member.

David was surrounded by she-wolfs who won't stop praising him but his eyes moved to the place where Lucian was standing earlier but not anymore.He noticed Charles scolding his son but couldn't hear their conversation in the midst of chaos.

David soon came back into the pack House while others chatter about him and John.They always thought John is stronger than them since he is son of Beta but no one ever saw him in training field but never questioned thinking his father must be giving him different training but their perspective towards John changed as he couldn't even fight against David like a warrior.

Scarlett Pov †

"No one wants you not even your own mother ,this is why she left you alone"

"How dare you step into my house?You are a disgusting creature ,I don't want to be your friend.Get out !"

"What a pity ,you have no one to call your family now"

"I hope you learnt your lesson, don't ever dare to speak against me"

"Such a slut just like her mother"

"Scarlett !"

"Scarlett, are you ready?We have to leave"

I jolted up from the bed after hearing Herrick's voice and wiped my tears before checking my reflection in the mirror.A sigh left my lips as I stared at my reflection with nothing but rage.

"You are stronger than they made you feel.Don't let them affect you" I told myself and dragged my luggage towards the door.

"Are you okay?" Was the first question he asked.I nodded and he gave me a small smile before helping me with my luggage.We both walked to the Pack House where Alpha and his Beta with few warriors were already getting in the vehicle.

"Let me help you" Beta Marcus offered and placed our luggages in the trunk.

"I know it's hard for you but do trust me Scarlett, this is for the best" Alpha said and I nodded.

"I just hope we don't have to stay there for longer" I replied, earning a soft smile from him.Me and Herrick sat in the same vehicle as Alpha and Beta while other two vehicles followed us.

"Scarlett" I hummed in response after hearing Herrick's voice.

"What if we find our mates in the Red Moon Pack or what if we are mates ?" I tilt my head to face him , excitement laced in his voice.

He has always been excited to find his mate and we both are soon turning 18 so his excitement is at its peak.

"I hope none of our mates is in that pack because they all are heartless" I stated.His face dropped at my words earning a heavy sigh from me.

"Don't be upset Herrick, I just want your mate to be someone who'll accept you the way you are unlike the Red Moon Pack members who only know how to degrade someone" I explained, feeling a little guilty for back bitching about other pack but it won't change the truth.

They all are cruel except the Luna who's kind gesture was taken as weakness.

"Okay but imagine if we are mates" I chuckled at his instant change of mood.

"I would be honored to get a smart, handsome, understanding and strong mate" He laughed at my dramatic reply before messing up my hair.

"Hey ! Don't you dare" I scolded him and fixed my hair.

Vehicles came to a halt while I stared outside the window.I am back to the place which has snatched everything from me.I hoped out and stayed behind Alpha and Herrick next to me.

I felt nervous for a while but walked with my head held high.My heart was racing with each step.In all the familiar mixed scents , a very strong scent filled my nostrils which is almost addictive.It feels soothing, irresistible and exciting.

That's strange...

I looked around and noticed some of the warriors and pack members surrounding us or to be more precise surrounding the Pack House.Whispers started among them after they saw me and I felt the urge to rip off their tongue.

Silence took over among them as I heard heavy footsteps coming closer.The scent got even more strong which made me feel drowsy.

"It's a pleasure to have you in my territory" A very deep but familiar voice exclaimed and I assumed they were talking to Alpha Logan.Me and Herrick stood there like lost puppies.

I could feel someone's hard gaze on me but I didn't look up because if I did then it won't be good.It triggers me if someone stares at me for more than a second.

I might end up having a fight or even worse get punished for disrespecting the Alpha which everyone fears especially when I'm in his territory as a guest.

"Scarlett , Herrick come" Alpha said and we followed him inside the Pack House.My mouth agape after seeing how the interior has changed, last time I checked it was very old.

"I'm not staying for longer Lucian, I hope we can find a solution within this month before things go out of control" Alpha Logan said while we were seated on the couch in the hall.

I wasn't really interested in their conversation and just admired the changes in the Pack House.

"We are trying our best to find those who are behind this and if the situation gets worse than we ought to stand together"

"I'll leave for Blood Moon Pack tonight to investigate the situation further more.Scarlett and Herrick are your responsibility Lucian, I hope you will keep your promise" Alpha Logan said.

"I will"

Their conversation continued while me and Herrick exchanged looks in between.Herrick is attentive to their conversation unlike me who is unbothered.

"Scarlett" I shift my gaze from chandelier to Herrick after he whispered my name.He looked a little bit uncomfortable which made me give him a questioning look.

"Alpha Lucian and his Beta are continuously looking at us" He hesitantly whispered.

I turned my head towards the Alpha of Red Moon Pack and caught him looking straight into my eyes.For a fact ,I didn't look away even after being aware of how other wolves can't look straight into their Alpha's eyes considering their strong and intimidating aura which did not affect me at all.

Last I saw him was three years ago as an arrogant and cruel son of Alpha who never failed to make me feel like a complete shit , unwanted , unloved and weak.

To say I despise him would be an understatement.Since he was a kid but older than me has me hating my childhood despite trying everything to get rid of his venomous words.

He is one of those to bully me but only difference is that he stopped after turning 13 but rest of them never stopped until I decided to run away.

I don't know the reason of his sudden change but he shut himself from everyone and I couldn't help but find it really weird nevertheless it was relief for me that he stopped.

But those memories which became nightmares are still fresh in my heart.

"Give it back !" She yelled while trying to get her locket back but the guy in front of her would only raise his hand higher in the air taking advantage of his height.

"Why are you so desperate for such a cheap locket?" He scoffed and stepped back as she tried to jump in order to get her locket back from his hand but to no avail.

"Give it back" She cried out loudly, for a second he stopped right at his spot but his friend's laughter caught his attention.

"Throw it away Lucian!"

"Yes, throw it in the lake!" His friends shouted.He turned to look at her crying figure but quickly turned away.

"Please d-don't" She begged with her trembling voice.

He turned away from her and threw the locket into the lake.

His friends laughed as she looked down crying.

"Well done Lucian" John exclaimed proudly.She looked up at Lucian angrily and started punching his chest with her small fists which didn't even hurt him.

"You are so bad!! I h-hate you!!" She yelled ,his friends pulled her away from him and pushed her away making her small fragile figure land on the ground.She cried even harder after noticing the cut on her elbow.He stood there like a statue watching her crying her balls out while his friends laughed.

He gulped down the lump formed in his throat and stormed away..

That locket was her mother's and she was emotionally attached to it which is why it became one of the moments she could never forget..

His eyes darken as Herrick leaned near my ear whispering something but I was too engrossed into recalling the events which makes me despise him who is now the Alpha , of course the title of Alpha was already secured the day he was born , advantage of being Alpha's only son.

His silver eyes intensely stares back into mine ,it's hard to say if it's hatred or something else.His features are sharper than before with perfectly defined jawline.Dark black hairs , some strands of hairs are covering his eyes yet I could see clearly through it.

Something feels completely different ,the longer I stare into his eyes.I looked away not understanding the sudden overwhelming emotion.

"Why are you sending him a death glare?" Herrick whispered yelled.I rolled my eyes not liking how everyone is supposed to act like some weak duckling when it comes to be in front of the Alpha.They are stronger than other wolves but that doesn't give them the right to degrade others.

"Why not? Are they the only ones to shoot us a death glare? They can say it to our face if we are not pleasing to their eyes.Who is dying to stay with a bunch of arrogant creatures" I exclaimed, not realizing the words I said which they could hear with their wolf hearing and heck I was right , it caught everyone's attention on me and Herrick.

I slowly looked towards Alpha Logan and he looked at me for a second before turning to look back at Lucian.I stared back at Lucian only to find a smug look on his face which pissed me off.

It's not like I'm scared but I feel guilty for disappointing Alpha Logan.

I looked back at Herrick and find him shifting uncomfortably on his seat.

"Are you okay?" I asked concerned and he signalled towards the Beta of the Red Moon pack who is sitting beside Alpha Lucian.He is very unfamiliar to me ,must be new in the pack.He kept clenching and unclenching his jaw.

I stared at him perplexed who won't take his eyes off Herrick.It pissed me at how he is trying to intimidate Herrick as if he would jump in a seconds to slit his throat.I hate how everyone treated Herrick and I'm not going to bear it if the same happens here.

I held Herrick's arm and pulled him a little closer while keeping my eyes on the Beta whose eyes glow yellow.Seriously what's his problem? I swear if he even thinks to attack Herrick then I won't hesitate to fight back not caring if he is two times stronger than me.

Beta's eyes finally met mine and he quickly looked away.His shoulders slumped down.

"I think they don't want us here" Herrick whispered in a small voice.

"As if we want to stay here " I mumbled.

"Alpha !" I exclaimed and both of them turned towards me.I ignored Lucian , internally rolling my eyes at him.

"We both would like to go for a small walk since we feel suffocated here" I could feel Lucian's burning gaze on me but I ignored it and grabbed Herrick's wrist , practically dragging him out of the hall.

"I can finally breathe '' We both exclaimed and unison and burst into pits of giggles.

"Where are we going?" He asked matching with my fast steps.

"I don't know, let's just walk for a while then we'll be back and hopefully ,we don't have to face the so-called Alpha and Beta" I muttered.

"No wonder why you hate this place" He sounds utterly sad.

"Herrick, don't think about them," I said quietly.

"I don't know what's wrong with me but I feel really sad" He ended it with a sigh.We both quietly walked , passing by some houses.Pups running around happily , some wolves stared at us and whispered to each other as we walked past them.

"Wow look who is back!" I stopped hearing a very familiar voice of a girl who came out of her house with her friends following behind.

Emy , my so-called ex- friend who once promised to be by my side forever is the same girl who kicked me out of her house after humiliating me.

Oh well did I mention ,she is Lucian's girlfriend.This is the reason why she thinks so highly of herself.

I ignored her and continued walking which hurt her pride.

"Hey bitch who do you think you are ignoring?"

"A walking piece of shit" I snarled.Her friends eyes widened followed by a gasp from Emy.

"How dare you!" She growled and raised her hand to hit me with her claws but I was fast enough to block her wrist and twist it, earning gasps from her friends and a loud painful whimper from Emy.

"Stay in your limits if you wish to live more" I growled before throwing her away causing her to hit the ground harshly.Her friends ran to help her while I threw a hard glare at her and their faces turned pale in fear.

"Emy let's go from here" They dragged her back into her house while it took me a moment to calm down.

"I feel dizzy" I whispered as my vision got blurry for a second.

"Should we go back to the Pack House?" Herrick asked concerned.I shook my head indicating a 'no' , I would rather roam here than staying in the same room as Lucian.

"I'm fine , c'mon I'll take you to the place where I used to spend most of my time" I dragged him with me.

We walked into the woods and finally stopped as the lake came into view.It still looks beautiful, my lips curved upwards as I dragged my feets furthermore.

"Wow that's such a nice place to chill" I heard Herrick's excited voice.

I sat near the lake and dipped my feets in it feeling chills all over my body.Water is cold but I liked it.After checking here n there , Herrick also joined me.

"What were you even looking for?" I asked him.

"We are not allowed to go into the woods alone, Scarlett" My mouth agape as realization hit me.Well let's just hope nothing bad happens.
