Chapter 1 DISGUSTING

Jessie happily climbed on my back, spreading out her hands in the air, staggering and shaking her balance and my bones hurt like crazy.

"Get off me,' I yelled at my best friend to stop climbing on top of my body, it was pretty annoying and painful.

"Look how high I can fly, it's a beautiful thing ..." She softly sang one of her favorite Barbie cartoons.

Jessie is an eight years old girl, my best friend from the White Moon Pack. She is what I will call a sister. We've been friends since we were babies and our parents are best friends too. She had blonde hair tied into a ponytail, round nose, blue eyes, very short, white smooth skin, with almost little hands, and her lips were as red as a lollipop. That's kind of weird right, using the term "lollipop" Well, that's how best I can describe how red her lips were. She is so beautiful, as cute as a baby that you can't pass her by without taking a second look at her. We wear almost the same clothes, dress in the same pattern, if she packs her hair, I do mine as well, we do nearly everything to ourselves, that people at times mistook us for being twin sisters and well, I don't mind, she is the only one I got in the whole wide world.

My sister, it didn't matter to me that she isn't related to me by blood.

She is my best friend.

We are almost the same thing, yet the only difference between us is that my long hair is red, my bright eyes are kind of red, like the colour of a wine, I have a pointed nose and I love to wear pink gowns on special occasions, and jeans and a hoodie to school.

Jessie is a beta, while I'm an Alpha.

Yeah, that's right, an Alpha means no one can claim me easily except for an Omega who they mark easily and I'm top in rank and get to accept my mate whenever I desire, at least that's what I was taught.

I rolled my eyes. "Will you stop singing, it's annoying and get off my back, I don't want to repeat myself, Jessie."

"Come on, I just wanted to know how high I can fly,' Jessie left my back and jumped on top of my bed happily as I bounced.

"By jumping on top of my body,' I scoffed. "You could try doing it in the sky and see how high you can fly,'' I said sarcastically, ``she will probably fall down and crash her bones. Jessie just ignored me, cackling and glanced at the manga I was reading.

"Reading some BL comics again." She smiled.

"Yeah,' I emphasized, rolling my eyes.

"Isn't it weird reading this genre manga all the time? I prefer romance to BL ones."

"Well, that's your preference and this is mine, it's not like you love to read anyway." I pointed out.

"Yeah, reading makes me dizzy." She rolled her eyes in a circle, laughing.

"I thought as much," I mumbled.

"I hate reading, why do you love reading mangas, doesn't it bore you, I prefer to watch Barbie."

That was such a ridiculous question.

"Is that a problem?' I shifted my body away from her, lay down properly on my soft peach bed, and my fluffy pillow.

'No, it's not,' she got up from the bed. "Just asking,' she yawned, covering her mouth. "My mom is gonna kill me, if I don't show up at the werewolves ceremony, let's go." She stood up from the bed and nearly pulled me with her.

I sighed for the fifth time. 'The ceremony is about wolves meeting their so-called mate and bonding with them right?'

"Yeah, since my sister is eighteen, she should be meeting her mate, kissing and bonding." Her cheeks were flushed.

What a dummy.

"And your mother wants you to attend, you are not even a teenager yet." I reasoned. Why are parents so obsessed with getting their kids together with this sort of mate thing?

"I know, but I just want to see how it goes and meet my prince charming.'

"Eww. That will be so disgusting,' I frowned in disdain. "Meeting a lot of Alphas feasting on their mate or a bunch of them on one person, all moaning and making stupid noises, we should be banned from that sort of ceremony, we are kids."

"It doesn't matter, even a child encounters her mate in this day and age, don't be such a killjoy." Jessie laughed out loud at my words.

"That's for you, but not for me." I uttered casually.

I love my peaceful moment, I don't want a mate, I just want to be with my peaceful family and avoid all these problems.

Alphas are assholes and they stink a lot, except from my brothers who smell so nice.

I miss them.

"Come on, your mother should be looking for us, the elders are coming soon, let's go downstairs."

'Go on without me, I'm coming and I will be there before you know it." I casually promised and switched on to the next episode of my manga.

She ran out of the room, I was exhausted as it is and didn't want to leave my room. I know what she was speaking about, the pack has gathered again to discuss some stupid stuff and their boring lectures.

"Oceana," My mother called from downstairs, I could hear her footsteps coming upstairs.

Not now, why at this time of the day?

"Oceana,' She shouted.

Could she quit yelling my name, it is embarrassing.

"Oceana,' she yelled.

"Coming,' I yelled back.

"OCEANA,' she screamed at the top of her voice.

"Mom, I'm coming.' my stupid phone wasn't clicking the way I wanted it to, what kind of a day is this?

Finally, it clicked.

I quickly hid my phone under the bed after checking the time on when they will be posting the next episode of the manga and quickly ran out of my room and shut the door behind me.

My Mom frowned the moment she saw me, hell is about to break loose, I guess.

"Oceana, what have you been doing inside your room since morning." She questioned solemnly.

Chapter 2 NO MATE

Here we go again.

Why is she my mother?

"Arranging my bed,' I answered casually.

"What,' she frowned.

My mother is the Luna of the clan, the queen of the five packs, she is a powerful wolf, her long hair was the same as mine, her eyes were so blue, she had a little bit of acne on her face, pointed nose, pale pink lips, had a sort of an oval expression, she was pretty attractive and stunning to the core. She was as beautiful as a goddess, no wonder my Dad wouldn't leave her alone and was always protective of her, as if she would run away from him any moment from now and she was just forty years old, slim and curvy. I want to be like her when I grow up and be as beautiful as ever.

"Reading my books and solving my assignments,'' I lied without blinking, hoping she wouldn't go to my room and search for my phone to see if I'm lying. My Mom despises Comics, she feels they are distracting me from my studies, I wish my brothers were here to stop her from scolding me.

"Are you sure, you are not reading those stupid mangas that don't teach anything or add some sort of advice to your life?"

I rolled my eyes at her. I've never heard of a manga being read to add something to your life, it just feels good and provides entertainment to my life rather than this boring house that is all white as snow, kind of like a cemetery, really quiet, who lives like this.

"Mom, I was reading my books, not a manga, I dropped that a long time ago, you know I always listen to you," I said confidently, it was just a minute ago though.

Me? Listen to my mom, probably it will be another Oceana, not me.

You are such a good LIAR. My wolf chuckled at my words. I ignored her and focused on the matter at hand.

"Don't test me, Oceana, you are not allowed to read a manga at this age, it's addictive and it misleads youngsters like you, when you are older, you read it, you hear me."

Who listens to that kind of advice these days, kids do stuff now.

"But Mom, you just heard me, didn't you? I was reading some books upstairs with Jessie before she left for the ceremony.' I elaborated.

Oops! I shouldn't have mentioned the ceremony.

My stupid mouth!!

"You are supposed to be there, you never know, you might come across your mate.'

"At this age, Mom, for crying out loud, I'm only ten.'

Who needs a stinky and smelling mate, eww, they all smell so badly, don't they take a bath.

"Shut up,' she snapped. "Don't talk when I'm talking."

"I'm not interrupting you.' I broke in.

"Then, shut up, you talk when you are spoken to, do I make myself clear.'

"Yes, Mom.' I mumbled, nearly my eyes at her.

So much for being a child.

"That's the reason you should be hoping for a mate, not sitting down and doing nothing. At this age you need your mate, you are supposed to meet your mate, get betrothed and once you are eighteen you get married. You go to the mate, it doesn't come to you, if you hide yourself inside the mansion all day. You are a wolf, you never can tell, meeting your mate will help you to control your powers and be able to change into your wolf form.'

"I don't desire a mate.' I blurted out.

"Don't be silly, mind your tongue.' She scolded.

"But, Mom, why do I need one?' I argued.

"I just explained to you why you need one.'

"Must I get a mate," I enunciated with anger. "I'm an Alpha, what do I need a mate for, isn't that a disgrace for me, why should I go to the extent of doing such a thing as mating with another Alpha. The pack, the kids at school will laugh at me, why can't I just learn how to do it myself.'

"You are not reading up on what you are supposed to study young lady, your wolf refuses to come out of you," My mother yelled, sighing. "Listen, Oceana, it's not like I don't believe in you, but this is our clan that we are talking about, people will talk, shame you and say all kinds of things to you, you know why, it's because you are an Alpha and not an Omega. To be prepared for what's to come, you have to make an encounter with your mate, that way, you can achieve great aspects in life. It's not like I hate you, but I want the best and the most beautiful things in the world for you, that's what I want and for you to be happy. If possible, you will be my heir and succeed me in being the Luna of this clan, the Queen of the five clans, you will be a powerful woman with your mate beside you, trust me and believe me, I am your mother, I will not lie to my child."

"But, I have older brothers before me, how can I be an heir of the clan.' I was confused.

"You are still young, with time, you will understand how the clan's rules go as you get of age, Oceana. You have to be strong and don't let anyone pull you down. No matter the person, you are who you are and I don't want anyone to belittle you.'

"But, my brothers will protect me..."

"Forget about your brothers, they are not always going to be there for you, you have to learn how to stand on your own. You are an Alpha, a powerful one and I want you to know that, no matter what happens, never be easy on your enemies. You are going to control your wolf to come out of you and shift, this is the time for you to start training unless you want to be the pack's laughing stock.'

She was somewhat scaring me, I don't know why, she is saying all these things to me, one thing is for sure, I don't need a mate but the clan secretly make fun of me.

My mother came to me and touched my shoulders. "Oceana,' she called me.

"Yes, Mom,' I sadly responded.

"Make me proud, don't disappoint me, I don't want you to be some useless Alpha, so that when you meet your mate, he will be worthy of you.'

I felt like a heavy burden was just put on my shoulders.

Chapter 3 WELCOME BACK

'Do I make myself clear?'

"Yes, Mom," I replied.

Says the person who spends her money on clothes, being all obsessed with it than her children, I'm just a ten-year-old kid, what's wrong with reading a manga, it's too late to stop me now, when I've read over a hundred mangas and she is saying when I'm older, that sounds a dream than a reality, by then I've read over thousands of it.

However, what my mom kind of freaked me out, she has never talked to me like that before.

What did she mean by, I will be an heir?

"Now, follow me, it's time to meet up with the clan elders, they all want to see you." I sighed and followed her to the clan.

They want to see me, for what, to touch their feet or what, I can't even use my powers, why do they want to see someone like me?

They were wrinkly old men all sitting down and young muscular Alphas discussing a few things among themselves, blocking the path to the mating ceremony.

"Oh, ah... Alpha, go harder,' whoever it is, was screaming like a pig, how annoying.

As if the elders know what is going on, they shut the big white designer's gate to block out the noise.

That was a good riddance. I can't bear such noises, I hope I don't make that disgusting person that screams in the room one day, the moon goddess be damned, I will faint.

I went over to my mom and sat down on my seat, yawning and feeling bored about the whole scenario. If I were just with my phone, this would have been much better for me.

I hate this meeting, I wonder what they were discussing.

"Hey, sis,' Alex came to me and sat down beside me with a grin on his face.

He needed something from me, I knew it, whenever he needed my help, that's how he always behaves.

Alex is a seven years old boy, has full black hair, and blue eyes. He was a short boy, with pink lips, bright features, and had the same similarities as my father. He is lively, optimistic but he loves to be rough and is quite messy, today he acts cute, and the next day, a stubborn brat.

He is my little brother.

The one thing, our family has in common is our blue eyes, according to what I find out, it's the source of our power I think.

"What is it, Alex, don't bug me." I knew where this was going.

"I want to use your phone for just five minutes to check the latest game that just came out, Ace wants me to check the version."

Ace was his best friend, partner in crime.

"You have a phone, why don't you use yours?"

"Please, Mom wouldn't let me use the WIFI, she switched it off." He whined.

"That's because you use more than what Mom can afford,' I laughed. "I'm not giving it to you, serve you right."

"That's not fair, sis."

"It is fair,' I argued.

"But you read the manga." He nearly yelled and I soon covered his mouth with my hands and fiercely whispered. "Keep quiet, Mom will hear you, I'm not reading any Mangas." I denied.

He pulled my hands off his mouth.

"Then, please let me take it, I wouldn't stay long."

"Go ahead,' I finally gave up, then something struck me, I realized that I didn't wipe off the manga on my phone and when I got up from my seat, I saw my brother walking towards me, excited filled all my body, forgetting why I got up in the first place, I went over to hug him.

"Hey, little kitty, how are you?" He laughed.

"I'm fine, welcome home big brother,' I said cheerfully and felt his warmth on my chest.

"Hey, stop hugging me so tightly, you will push me down."

He was taller than me though, how could I drag him down.

"I'm good, I haven't seen you for a long time, Gérard."

"Do you miss me,' he laughed.

"Of course, I miss you so much,' I kissed him on the cheek when he bent down a little as he does to me before he left home.

"I miss you too,"

"Why did you leave? Before I could wake up, Mom and Dad said, you were both gone.' I explained.

"Sorry, we left without telling you, I didn't want to bother you.'

"Liar,' I hit him across the shoulder as he cackled up. "You could have woken me up.'

"Sorry about that, little sister.'

I puffed up. 'Not that easy to please me.' I feigned.

He chuckled.

"What can I do to make it up to you?'

"Stay at home with me, then, I will make it up to you.'

"Well, I haven't seen you for a long time and I'm glad you are home to see me because I will be leaving shortly, before that let me make it up to you for leaving without informing you."

He was so tall, was I that short?

"Huh,' I whined. '`You are leaving soon but you just came back, can't you stay?'

"Nope, I can't, kiddo.' I've got to go or else the rogues will attack you, that's why your brother has to fight,' he playfully poke my nose, it twinkled me as I giggled.

"I got a present for you." He brought out a cute little black box and handed it over to me.

"Really,' I took it from him, opened the box and saw a little silver necklace with my name written on it, "Oceana" gleaming and in the middle of my name was a blue sparkling diamond, I have never seen anything like it and it was the most beautiful I have ever seen.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?'

"Yes," I whispered with admiration and couldn't stop looking at the necklace.

"It's gorgeous, just like your eyes,' he mumbled.

"Thank you so much, Gérard, thank you." I jumped and he kissed my little cheek and hugged me, patting my back.

"You are welcome, gorgeous." He pulled away from me and bent down in front of me. "Let me help you put it on,'' he took the necklace from me. I raised my hair with my hands and turned my back to him to help me put the necklace on and I could feel more beautiful and thrilled.
