Melissa's POV
"Melissa, what are you still doing up there?"
"I'm coming. .I'm coming."
"You're the celebrant, how can you keep your guests waiting."
"Mom don't pin this on me I never wanted any 9f this, no how I pushed against it you double down and insisted on having this party."
"How do you expect me not to throw a coming of age party for you. This is your eighteenth birthday, we need to celebrate you becoming an adult."
Like that changes anything.
I wonder why my mom was making a fuss about my eighteenth birthday, it's not like anything will change. I had to give in just to make her happy and I ended up regretting the morning I woke. The whole house was buzzing with activities.
As I walked down the stairs to the hall I could feel everyone's gaze on me without needing to look up. I had to force a smile and greet my guest warmly.
When everyone was focused on catching up and socialising, I looked for a quiet corner to enjoy a piece of cake.
Cough
Halfway through I heard someone Coughing. Before then I didn't notice that there was someone else there and when he coughed it scared me so much that I ended up dropping my cake on the floor.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you." The man said in a deep frail voice.
"It's okay. Are you sick?" I asked when I saw him all wrapped up and even had a mask on.
"I'm fine. I'm just not used to crowded places."
"Really, let's go for a walk, I'm not a big fan of crowds."
He chuckled as he stood up and left the hall with me. I led him to the garden.
"Ah, nice. So are you a family friend or a business partner."
"I'm a family friend, you don't remember, I used to come over to your house to play with you brother when you were little."
"Oh! Why are you wrapped up like this? Don't you feel hot." He was covered from head to toe. I could barely see his eyes.
"Let's just say I'm sick."
"What kind of sickness would make you wrap yourself up like a dumpling?"
"I have a rare condition and I react to many things and people."
"Whoa, that must be frustrating?"
"It's indeed frustrating. But hopefully I'll get a cure for it soon."
"So you spend your days wrapped up like this?"
"I live in seclusion so I only dress like this when I'm living in the house."
"I see so..." I was just about continuing the conversation when a guard walked over.
"I guess it's time for me to leave. Oh before I forget, here's your gift. Happy birthday Melissa."
"Thank you, you haven't told me your name."
"I'm Richard."
"Goodbye Richard, I hope they find the cure soon."
"I hope so too. Goodbye Melissa." I felt bad for him, how difficult would it be for someone to live his life like that.
I stared at him until he was out of sight. I felt bored staying outside on my own so I returned to the party.
"Melissa, there you are. I've been looking everywhere for you."
"Went for a walk. You know I'm not a big fan of parties."
"That doesn't mean you should abandon your guests."
"I didn't abandon them, I just accompanied one for a walk."
"Where's the guest you're claiming to have accompanied."
"He is gone. I came back after he left."
"Don't tell me you don't know his name."
"His name is Richard, he said he was a childhood friend of ours."
"Oh." I could swear I saw my mom's eyes glow with excitement when I mentioned Richard but it disappeared quickly.
"Can I go now?"
"Of course not. It's almost time to start seeing your guest off."
"can't you and dad just do that? I'm tired."
"You're tired. You did nothing the whole night and now you're telling me you're tired. Quickly go to the door and see your guests off."
"Mom, no more parties. Atl least not for me."
I begrudgingly walked to the door with the best smile I could mutter and bidded farewell to the guest. After everyone left I rushed straight to my gifts and started opening them.
I loved the present but not the party, if I could receive gifts without having to host a party that would be perfect.
That was the last birthday party my mom ever held for me, but I would still receive gifts from family and friends including Richard. I couldn't help wondering what Richard would look like without his mask on. After my nineteenth birthday I wasn't the one who personally received his gifts, so I slowly forgot about Richard.
I once heard that love could mess with your head and if you're not careful it would lead to your doom. When I heard those words I sneered, I believed I was clear headed and would never fall victim but things don't always go as we plan. University life was filled with love bubbles in the air. You would all always see a couple at every corner, I alway sneered when I saw them as I could not understand what was wrong with them. It's not as if they would die if they stayed apart for a few hours.
Well that was not my problem, I spent most of my time in school or in my hostel, sometimes at competitions organised by the school though I never participated. I don't like competing so I attend to gain more knowledge.
As usual I decided to go to watch one of the competitions held by the school and this was where I thought my love bloomed. This competition changed a lot in my life.
Melissa's POV
I met Arthur Davies in a competition hosted by the school when I was twenty years old, in my second year in the university. It was coincidental but I thought it was fate leading me to my love.
This competition was the biggest my school had ever held, a lot of my colleges participated but I did want to since there was a stag in the competition where you would need to create a design on the spot with everyone watching and did not want to be in the limelight.
Arthur Davies had been invited to present awards to the winners who participated in the competition held by the school. I was seated amongst the audience , when Arthur Davies came on stage to present the award I felt my heart flutter. My heart was racing so fast and I felt faint, this emotion was foreign to me; I had never felt this way for anyone before. I focused my attention solely on Davies the rest of the night, I stared at him intensely without blinking.
Until Davies left the stage my gaze never left him. I fell in love with Davies at first sight. After the competition I hurriedly left the venue in hopes that I would get a glimpse of Arthur Davies again but I was too late. Before I got there Davies was already in his car. I got a bit closer to the car to see if I could see him, but the glass of his car was tinted. I couldn't see through it at all. It never occurred to me that I could be seen even if I can't see the person.
I guess love also made me dumb. Luckily he didn't do anything to embarrass me, guess he wasn't interested in me.
I couldn't get too close because of his guard who was standing at the door and I didn't want to create a scene and give Davies a bad impression of me so I had to leave.
Since I was unable to see him, it dampened my spirit. I left the venue feeling sad. After that day I couldn't stop thinking about him. His face occupied my thoughts all day long.
A Few days after the competition there were rumours that Davies was dating a student, it turned out that when I got close to his car that day a reporter happened to capture that moment. The rumour circulated for a few days but since no one spoke up to refute or accept it, it cleared after a few more days.
When I saw the news I was excited that I was being linked together with him, the mere mention of the possibility of us being together gladden my heart. I didn't see him in person after the competition. He appeared once in a while on the news and that's the only time I got to see him.
Once in a while I imagined that we ended up together and things went wild. His hands on my waist pulling me closer to him, I could hear his heartbeat and feel his warmth as he wrapped his arms around me
I couldn't help imagining his hands on me, his tongue penetrating my pussy as I lay flat on my back, I had my legs crossed and in no time I was convulsing from the orgasm that came with my dirty thoughts. I was still panting when one of my roommates walked in on me.
"Melissa! Are you OK?" I nodded in reply before rushing off to the bathroom. I could feel my pants becoming damp from my discharge, I sighed. This was not the first time this has happened, I had even woken up one with my panties wet from the erotic dream I had.
Just like that, two years slowly faded away. It was my birthday, I officially turned twenty two and in a few days I would be done with university. I decided to go clubbing with some of her friends to celebrate my graduation. My mom had called earlier for me to come back and celebrate with them but I didn't want to go home just in case my mom had held a party.
Though she had insisted that she just wanted to introduce someone to me, I found it difficult to believe. I didn't want to end up sitting through a party I did want so I didn't go back home after the school celebration dinner instead I went to the club with a group of my friends.
I wasn't used to leaving a wild lifestyle so when I entered the club I felt dizzy from the loud music. I started having second thoughts but her friends didn't let me leave. If it were up to me to decide I would rather just stay at home.
Left with no choice I stayed and ordered a few bottles of alcohol along with them. We drank for a while, and I became bored, I wasn't comfortable and the loud music wasn't helping me. I was feeling tipsy from all the alcohol I had taken
" I need to use the restroom. I will be back." I whispered into my friend's ear, as I stood up from my seat.
After which I walked to the bartender and asked him for directions to the restroom. I followed the directions he gave me to the restroom. When I was done using the restroom I stood in front of the mirror for a while before splashing water on my face to help me clear my head a bit.
I returned to the club but I was confused about the exact place my friends were seated. I decided to just walk around, I chose a direction and started walking towards that direction. When I was close to the end of the road, I noticed that I had chosen the wrong direction.
Melissa's POV
When I turned to leave I caught a glimpse of a familiar face. My step froze. I quickly turned to take a closer look just to make sure it wasn't an illusion. I slowly made my way towards Arthur Davies who was sitting alone. I quietly sat beside him. When I sat down beside him the couch sank in drawing his attention, I opened his eyes and glanced at me before he leaned back, closed his eyes and spoke.
"Why are you here?"
I was silent for a while. My reaction was a bit slow at the moment. I just kept staring at him until Davis opened his eyes once more.
This gave me quite a shock, I subconsciously leaned back and nearly fell off the chair. Arthur Davies looked at me and said again
"State your purpose, don't make me repeat myself".
" Well I....emm... I just... sorry I came here with my friends and went to use the restroom, I couldn't find my way back, chose a direction and ended up here. I didn't mean to intrude ".
Arthur Davies looked up at me which made my toes curl.
"Oh then what are you waiting for? leave".
I was a bit disappointed. For some reason I found the courage and introduced myself to him.
" My name is Melissa Austin. Nice to meet you".
"Are you done"?
I was left speechless by his remark, I had no choice but to give him his space. I didn't want him to hate me before he even got to know me. I turned and headed towards another direction. After wandering around the club trying to avoid some creeps, I finally found my companions.
Due to my encounter with Davis my emotions were unstable; I kept drowning glass after glass of alcohol until I became numb. I started feeling uncomfortable so I left.I already booked a room in a hotel close to the bar.
I slowly made my way to the hotel. I was drunk and it took me a while to get to my room. I immediately got into bed and slept off.
Few hours after I fell asleep someone came in and laid beside me. I wasn't aware of what was happening around me since I was in a deep sleep.
I was still feeling drowsy when I woke up, it took me a while to come to my senses.when I did I felt burning gazes on me, and this freaked me out. I looked up to find out that I was not alone in my room.
I became clear headed instantly, I used the duvet to cover myself properly, only my eyes were visible.
I was yet to understand what was going on, I started wondering if I stumbled into another room that wasn't mine. But the hotel room card could only open the door to the room you booked so there was no way I entered the wrong room. So that was definitely my room, could anyone please explain to me what they are doing here? I asked myself trying to understand the situation
I looked around the room and I noticed that there was a man by my side. I took a closer look at the man beside me only to find out that it was actually Arthur Davies.
'Okay I never saw that coming' I thought to myself. So these people are not here for me but for Arthur Davies, I didn't know if I should be relieved or I should start panicking.
"Mr Davies we heard that you are flirting around with women is that true "
"Is she one of your partners "
"We heard that you're hiring prostitutes and involved in illicit affairs, is that true?"
"Young lady, were you hired by my Davies to spend the night with him?"
"Who are you to him?"
The reporters regained themselves and started questioning Davies and I.
I was taken by surprise as Davies suddenly pulled me closer, his actions catching me off guard. I stiffened, unsure of how to react, and their questions continued to flow as I laid there.
Davies pulled me, blocking me from the view of the reporters. The room fell silent, with all eyes fixed on us, as the reporters seemed equally shocked by Davies' sudden move.
I remained still, unsure of how to respond to Davies' sudden gesture. But as I laid there in his arms, I realized I wasn't opposed to the intimate action. In fact, I had often fantasized about this very moment, and so I decided to give in to the sensation, to enjoy the feeling while it lasted.
" what are you all doing here".
Davies didn't give them the opportunity to continue questioning him.
"You are really bold, aren't you". Davies gave them a cold smile. I didn't know if it was a happy smile as u could only see the did of his face from where I was.
"What did you hope to accomplish by bursting in on me and my fiance? Tell your company to expect a letter from my lawyer. Each and everyone of you will face the consequences of your actions. " The smile on his face vanished instantly, I could feel his anger bubbling as he held me. His grip on me tightened which scared me a little. I tapped him a little, gaining his attention.
"You're hurting me." I whispered.
He let go as he turned to face the reporters again.
"All of you get out ".
Everyone was shocked to hear this, I flinched a little at how load and commanding his voice was
"Mr Davies, we are just trying to do our job."
"Does your job involve invading my fiancé's privacy? It's understandable if you barge in on me as you please but leave my fiance out of it.
'Wait! What! '
'Did he just say fiance' 'When did I get engage'
It was the second time he was referring to me as his fiancée, I thought I was just imagining things the first time.
Things took a dramatic turn, even I was shocked by his sudden declaration. The reporters exchanged dubious glances, I wouldn't have believed it either, alot of questions where running through my mind but I knew that this was not the right time to start asking questions
" Mr Davies, is she not your one night stand how did she become your lover. "
"Mr Davies it is not that we doubt what you're saying. From our investigation we know fully well that you're single, you don't have any girlfriend so where did this fiancée of yours pop out from."
"Is this a cover up to clear your name?"
" How long have you two been dating "?
" Is this just an excuse to cover the truth "?
" Mr Davies, please say something".
