Chapter 1 Invisible

Bellevue College, Seattle.

The sound of a bell ringing was heard, signaling break time at a university.

A woman came out of a classroom. The room had a sign that said Computer Science class. She had only taken a step when another friend stopped near her.

"Fiona where are you going in such a hurry?"

The long brown-haired woman who was looking down lifted her face to look at her friend. Only a split second their eyes met and the girl looked down again. There was a fear of looking at the person she was talking to for too long.

Fiona's conversation partner, a woman with short shoulder-length hair with a sharp gaze, then arrogantly held Fiona's chin, lifting it to level with her face.

"Don't tell me you're coming to medical class to meet Garth. You should take a look in the mirror first. There's no way that guy would want to hang out with you. No, he probably wouldn't even want to talk to you. You're just an orphan with no clear background."

Fiona Megan Olaf, a woman who was found in front of an orphanage door 20 years ago. Who knows, who threw away the innocent little baby who was only wrapped in a warm blanket. At that time the orphanage caretaker found her crying, because they didn't find anyone there and it seemed like she was abandoned, so the orphanage caretaker took care of her until she was an adult.

The tiny baby has now grown into a beautiful woman, but has low self-esteem. Fiona is not confident with her appearance which is different from others even though she has some advantages in academics. However, her face is covered in acne. The acne on her face is stubborn. It always comes back after being treated repeatedly. Until she is tired of taking care of the acne, until finally she just lets the acne grow on her face, making her beautiful face hidden behind acne.

Fiona has a crush on a medical student in her final year, Garth. It could be said that she has admired this senior from a different major for a long time.

"No, why did you forbid me if it was just to meet? You're not his girlfriend either," Fiona protested with a little courage.

Fiona's words provoked Lucy, the class president in her class who was also the cheerleader team leader at this prestigious campus. Lucy was beautiful, her whole body was well-groomed. She was a descendant of wealthy people in this area. It's just that she was arrogant and proud. She often showed off her parents' wealth that would not be eaten up by seven generations. Not infrequently she acted arbitrarily towards others.

"Just so you know, if Garth wants to, he will bow down to me. Unfortunately, he is not my type and not on my level. I'm just explaining that you are not comparable to Garth, you should just give up rather than get hurt later," Lucy replied with a disdainful smile. You could say that she was disgusted by Fiona, a woman who she thought was shabby and had no advantages at all. For her, Fiona was like dirt that was annoying to the eyes. Smelly and had to be removed.

"But Lucy if you don't like Garth why do you forbid me to approach him?" Fiona gathered her strength again to ask. Usually she didn't dare to ask many questions or talk to Lucy for long. But, she couldn't stand it anymore. Why did Lucy keep forbidding her from approaching Garth.

"Why, am I not worthy of approaching him?" Fiona stared into Lucy's eyes with body shaking.

"I already explained it to you at the beginning, is it still not clear? If so, I will... make it clear. You haven't had lunch yet, right? Enjoy this. I'm being kind

to you." Lucy smiled lopsidedly. One hand was carrying a hamburger and the other hand

others bring sauce.

Lucy raised her hand holding the sauce above Fiona's head, then poured all the sauce on top of Fiona's head, then just left Fiona whose fists were clenched down there with her body shaking even more from enduring Lucy's arbitrary treatment.

Now she felt her head was sticky with sauce. There was no way she could walk around with a dirty head like this. Fiona decided to go to the toilet and clean the sauce off her hair.

Unfortunately, in the middle of the road she met Garth, the man she had a crush on. The final year medical student walked straight as if he didn't see Fiona in the middle of the crowd on the way to the toilet. In fact, several women who were also passing by this road were fighting to greet Garth.

"Hello, Garth. Are you free to hang out with me?" a female student asked with a twinkle in her eye.

"Garth, I heard from the others that you're free today. Let's have some fun this weekend." The other students stopped after a woman stopped Garth.

Now there are two women surrounding this round hazel-eyed man. Physically, Garth is a nearly perfect man. So, what woman wouldn't be attracted to him?

"Hello, Garth," Fiona greeted, stopping right next to the man she admired with a pounding heart. All the feelings of sadness and annoyance that had mixed together after what Lucy had done to him seemed to have disappeared, gone who knows where, replaced by a heart that was in bloom.

Garth raised an eyebrow at the girl with sauce on her head who had just looked at her. Honestly, he felt uncomfortable and disturbed by Fiona's current condition.

After all, he is a future doctor who always keeps everything clean, tidy and hygienic.

"Who are you?" Garth asked with narrowed eyes. He was even more uncomfortable looking at Fiona's face which was full of acne.

"Fiona. I'm Fiona." Even though this wasn't the first time Fiona greeted Garth. She had greeted this man many times. But she often heard the same answer. Somehow, the man never remembered her. There was a feeling of disappointment and hurt that she had never been in his heart, but she still smiled in front of Garth, then left as quickly as possible while covering the top of her head with a tissue so that the sauce there was not too obvious. She was embarrassed that Garth saw her in this bad condition.

After Fiona left, Garth turned to look at the two women who were still by his side.

"Do you know who that woman was?"

"She's Fiona, from the computer science department. She seems to like you. But doesn't she look in the mirror first and see what she looks like?"

"Fiona?" Garth called Fiona's name again and remembered it but he still didn't remember the woman. After that he was busy talking to the two women.

Fiona arrived at the toilet. She wet the tissue she had just taken with tap water after the sauce on her head was gone. Although the sauce was gone, it still felt sticky. Fiona dealt with it with a wet tissue mixed with a little liquid soap to clean the remaining sauce. Maybe she would wash her hair when she got home.

The sound of the door opening was heard. Three women came in. They stopped when they saw Fiona there.

"Fiona, why are you cleaning your hair? Is your smelly hair dirty?" She teased with a disdainful look.

Fiona paused her activities for a moment then looked at the woman who was her friend in the same department but in a different class. She took a deep breath for a moment. Lucy was no longer around her and bothering her but now another bother had appeared. She just hoped that these three women would not bother her.

"No," Fiona answered shortly because she didn't want to deal with them. Even though she hadn't finished cleaning up, Fiona quickly left the place so that something unwanted could happen.

Three female students who saw Fiona heading to the door and about to leave, blocked her. "Where are you going in such a hurry? You seem to be cleaning your hair. Do you need our help?"

Fiona shook her head at the look in their eyes and the creepy mischievous smile. She pulled the door to get out so she could get away from them. But one person grabbed her collar roughly and let go until she fell down. Not satisfied with that action, another woman took the trash can that was there and dumped its contents on Fiona's body.

"Do you still want our help?" asked a woman holding a bottle of liquid soap and ready to pour it on Fiona's body.

Fiona just shook her head, firmly rejecting the offer. But no matter how hard she refused, her friend still poured the contents of the liquid soap onto her body. With a big smile and a satisfied look, the three of them then went out of the toilet leaving Fiona in sadness.

Fiona's round eyes were blurry with heat. Clear droplets then dripped from the corners of her eyes.

How suffocating it feels to be constantly bullied on campus, which is a place for learning.

Chapter 2 Meet A Wolf

Fiona laments her fate after being treated arbitrarily by her campus friends. Now not only is her hair dirty, but her clothes are also dirty with trash. Not only dirty, the smell is also unpleasant. There are stains on her clothes now.

''What should I do now?" Fiona muttered, starting to come to her senses, coming out of her sadness and not wanting to continue being trapped in this situation. She wiped away the remaining tears that were still pooling in her eyes with her index finger.

Sadness still enveloped Fiona's heart. What did she do wrong that her friend bullied her like this? Even though she never bothered anyone on campus. Was it because she was an orphan or because of her face? She herself didn't want to have that status. She also didn't want to have a face full of acne like this. But could she refuse all that? No! She had to accept all that even though she herself often protested her condition.

Fiona stood in front of the large mirror in the toilet. She took a tissue to clean the dirt on her clothes. She looked so pathetic in the reflection of the mirror that she saw. Her appearance now was so heartbreaking. Her hair was still sticky even though she had cleaned it. The stains on her clothes were still clearly visible even though she had cleaned it repeatedly with soap. Really, she looked so messy.

Not long after, Fiona came out of the toilet after finishing cleaning herself, although not fully. On her way back to class, she passed and met other students on campus.

"Fiona, what's wrong with your hair? It's wet and sticky. Did you get glue on it?" a female student asked with a condescending laugh.

Fiona just stared wordlessly at her friend's insult, then lowered her head and turned a deaf ear. The insult was too painful to listen to, so it was better for her not to listen to such things. Besides, she was used to getting such taunts.

Another student who was looking back spoke up. "Your clothes are dirty, Fiona. Don't you have any clothes? Change and wear it over and over again until it's dirty like that?"

"No." Fiona answered because she really couldn't stand being embarrassed like this in front of the others. She looked at the female student who made fun of her.

The student was still looking at Fiona with a condescending gaze. Because Fiona dared to answer, the student suddenly stopped in front of Fiona.

Fiona's steps stopped abruptly. If she continued walking, she would crash into the female student.

Her heart was beating fast when one of the student's hands held the tip of her chin and squeezed it.

Fiona was shaking. She was just afraid of her friend, what would she do to her? From what happened before, she was bullied by everyone. Not only hurtful words that she got but also physical violence that she received.

'You dare to reply to my words? If you dare to say it again, I will tape your lips," She said while pressing Fiona's lips roughly.

Fiona didn't dare to make a sound anymore and just shook her head with a trembling body. But apparently the female student pushed Fiona's body until it hit the wall. She hissed in pain in her back because of the hard push. Luckily, her friend immediately left her.

Enduring the pain in her back, Fiona continued walking. However, another student who passed by approached her again.

"There's something smelly around here, where's the smell coming from? Is it from you, Fiona?" She said, then pulled Fiona's sleeve and sniffed, then roughly slammed Fiona's body. "You stink. It's like the smell of rotten garbage in a garbage can."

"No. That's not true. I don't smell like garbage."

Other students who passed by saw that and then locked their gazes on Fiona. Not a few of them criticized her appearance.

"Look at that Fiona, poor her. Why does she smell like garbage today?"

'Maybe she had just been collecting rubbish, so her body smelled of rubbish.'

'Why is a woman like her studying here? She should just be a scavenger. At least she's earning money instead of spending it here to pay for her studies."

Their words stung in the ears and broke Fiona's heart again. But once again she could only stare at the many pairs of eyes that humiliated her one by one. Although her chest was tight, she tried to be tough and did not take their words to heart.

From a distance in front of a canteen, a pair of eyes watched what had just happened, a man stared intensely. "She ... isn't she the woman who greeted me on the street? What was her name? I forgot. She was bullied again," the man with a nearly perfect face muttered, beside the man was another man who then commented.

"Garth, are you paying attention to the female students on this campus? Are you interested in her? But why her? There are many other beautiful women."

"You could be kidding me. How could I be interested in her? I just feel sorry for her." Garth felt sorry for Fiona being bullied. He intended to help her.

Just as Garth came out of the canteen, Fiona accidentally glanced at him. Their gazes met. Of course Fiona felt embarrassed to be seen by the man she liked in such a humiliated state. She quickly took a thousand steps so that Garth would no longer see her in a bad state. She only wanted Garth to see her in good condition.

Just as Fiona was leaving, Garth came in. "Too bad, she's gone."

Garth looked around to find Fiona, but he couldn't find her with the many students walking around on the streets.

Garth decided to go back to the cafeteria where his friend was waiting. No one knew that Fiona was still there not far from where Garth had come. Fiona hid behind a door. She peeked outside. After making sure Garth was not there, she started walking again.

***

The sound of the bedroom door closing was heard.

Fiona put her bag on the study table in her room. After that she sat down by slamming her body roughly on the bed. Tiredness and sadness were seen together. She was tired because every day she had to face ridicule from her friends on campus. Sad because she felt that no one helped her out of her suffering. It could be said that she also had no friends on campus. In class, she usually always sat alone. If she had a father and mother, she would definitely complain and share all her sadness with them, unfortunately there was none. But the status as an orphan did not make the orphanage children silent, they would comfort Fiona when she was sad like this.

There was a knock on the door from outside.

Fiona who lowered her head lamenting her fate then looked straight at the door. "Just come in, I didn't lock the room."

The sound of the door opening was heard. A girl with shoulder-length hair, younger than Fiona, came in.

"Cecyl, what's wrong?" Fiona asked.

Cecyl is a girl who is in high school. Her bedroom is next to Fiona's bedroom. They are both close. Often they both share problems when they are having a problem.

"Fiona, what's wrong with you? You look sad?" asked Cecyl after seeing Fiona's sad face.

"No, I'm just tired, nothing wrong. What are you looking for me for?"

"The orphanage mother asked us to buy Christmas supplies, decorative lights and other knick-knacks," Cecyl explained briefly.

"Let's go now then." Fiona straightened up. She then left the room with Cecyl.

The two women then headed to the knickknack shop on foot. The place was a bit far from the orphanage but they enjoyed the trip. In the middle of the road, suddenly there was a wolf running towards them from across the street, precisely a forest at the crossroads.

Argh! Fiona and Cecyl screamed at the same time seeing the gray furred animal showing its sharp fangs.

Chapter 3 Meet Wolf

Cecyl and Fiona's eyes rolled quickly as its stared at the wolf that was running so fast towards them. The beast ran quickly and was now in front of them.

Both Cecyl and Fiona were shaking. They looked at each other in fear. They had never met a wild animal like this, they had only seen it on television. They also just found out that there were wolves around the forest.

"Fiona, I'm scared. Is the wolf hungry? Why is it looking at me with hungry eyes?' Cecyl spoke hoarsely. She really didn't know what to do. Right now, she felt like the joints in her legs were paralyzed, unable to move.

Fiona was actually also afraid, just like Cecyl. She had never faced a wild animal like this directly, let alone a hungry bloodthirsty animal. But if she followed her fear, maybe their lives would end here. While she still wanted to continue living, still wanted to at least continue her studies until she finished, still wanted to feel like working and also repaying the orphanage mother who had raised her. If her life ended now, she wouldn't even be able to express her feelings for Garth. At least she didn't want to die by burying her long-hidden love.

"Cecyl, calm down, don't be afraid. We'll run together on the count of three," Fiona answered calmly, even though deep down she was in turmoil. Actually, she wasn't sure she could escape from the wolf either.

"Fiona, my legs feel heavy to swing. I might not be able to run. You go first, leave me here." Cecyl was not acting like a hero, she did not want to burden Fiona. She did not want them both to die tragically here. At least one of them had to return even if she had to sacrifice herself. She was already willing to die. She had felt all the kindness of the orphanage residents. Maybe this was the time for her to repay the kindness, by sacrificing her life.

"Cecyl, what kind of joke are you talking about? I will never leave you here alone. We have to go together and come back together. Besides, we are family, I can't leave my family here." Fiona looked calm even though deep inside her heart was rumbling loudly.

Fiona then racked her brains to find a way to chase away the wolf that had now returned. Showing all its sharp fangs, the animal's saliva even dripped staring. They both took turns. Was she really going to end up here? No! She didn't want that to happen.

Fiona just remembered that in the bag she was carrying at the moment she kept a cutter to sharpen blunt writing instruments. She never used a pencil sharpener to sharpen it.

He prefers to use a cutter than a pencil sharpener. And it seems to be usable now. At least it can protect herself in a time constraint.

"Cecyl, when I stick the cutter into that wolf, force your legs with all your strength to get out of here with me. Let's get as far away from here as possible, understand?"

"Fiona you..." Cecil's voice was shaking. She wasn't sure about Fiona's plan. Could a small cutter take down the big wolf in front of them?

"Trust me Cecyl, we can get out of here safely. Fiona reassured Cecyl after seeing the doubt in the woman's eyes.

Cecil nodded in understanding. She prayed in her heart that Fiona's plan would work this time, even though her heart was still filled with gripping fear.

Fiona started counting, after taking the cutter out of her bag. On the count of three, when the wolf came closer again with its yellow eyes shining frighteningly bright, she gave the signal.

"Cecyl, you run first, now!"

Cecyl gasped in surprise, didn't Fiona say they would run away together but why did she ask her to go first? This was not like the plan Fiona had conveyed earlier. She also didn't want to leave her friend, not moving an inch from where she was," Fiona, no. I can't go without you."

"Cecyl, you have to believe me. Have I ever lied to you? I will catch up with you safely. Quick, go now!" Fiona's tone was high.

With difficulty, Cecily tried to lift her heavy legs, and finally she was able to run from there in fear that had not yet disappeared.

After Cecyl left, Fiona turned to look at the large gray wolf that was moving closer to her. Fiona stepped forward, eroding the fear that was still creeping in her heart while pointing the cutter at the wolf.

"I don't know why you suddenly came to us. Do you really want our blood? I think you've found the wrong prey if you're really hungry. Our blood or flesh doesn't taste as fresh as the others because we only get nourishment with the food we have to survive." The situation in the orphanage was like that. It was rare for Fiona and the others to eat well.

Whether the wolf understood Fiona's words or not, the animal stopped walking. But a few seconds later it moved again and attacked Fiona, raising its sharp claws, swinging quickly until it touched Fiona's hand, leaving a mark there.

Fiona hissed as she felt her sharp nails tearing her skin. It stung, and now her blood was dripping. While enduring the pain, she was determined to at least hurt the wolf the same as what was done to her. Blood must be repaid with blood. She quickly swung the cutter in her hand and then stabbed it into the wolf's head that was about to bite her hand.

There was a howl like pain. Fiona immediately ran away as fast as she could before the wolf came after her again. She saw that the wolf did not fall, only staggered.

Maybe it was just time for the wolf to move again after feeling a little of the pain it had caused.

"Fiona! You're finally back!" Cecyl shouted in relief when she saw Fiona. Her gaze then fell on the wound on Fiona's hand. "Your hand is injured."

"Yes, I'm fine. We have to get out of here as soon as possible before the wolf comes after us again. I can treat this wound later." Fiona didn't want to waste any more time. The wolf might come to attack. She held Cecyl's hand tightly, then invited her to run as fast and as far as possible out of this place.

"Oh my! Fiona, what's wrong with you? Why is your hand bleeding?" The orphanage mother screamed when she saw Cecyl treating the wound on Fiona's hand.

Cecyl cleaned the blood on Fiona's hand with the alcohol she had bought on the way home before returning to the orphanage. She also bought a bandage because Fiona's wound was quite deep.

Fiona had not answered. The woman with clear eyes as clear as water hissed again, holding back the pain in her hand.

"Mom, Fiona protected me on the street when I was attacked by wolves?" Cecyl explained.

The orphanage mother panicked immediately, then checked Fiona's wound. According to her, the wound was quite deep and needed to be treated. She suggested that Fiona go to the doctor for a check-up, but Fiona refused and said that it was fine, just an external wound, maybe in a few days it would dry up and heal on its own. She didn't want to burden the orphanage mother, considering the many children here who had to be taken care of and cared for, not just herself.

On campus.

Fiona still went in the morning even though she had to wear a bandage on her hand to cover the wound from yesterday's wolf scratches. Even though the orphanage mother had advised her to take leave today, Fiona insisted on going in.

On the way to class she met Garth who was also going to class. Their classes were on different floors. Fiona's class was on the first floor while Garth's class was on the second floor.

The man's eyes then locked on the bandage on Fiona's hand. "Hey, what happened to your hand?"

Instead of answering Garth's question, Fiona was surprised at the man's arrival and his attention.
