Chapter 1 Betrayal

"It itches... Help me..."

Eliana Pierce felt numb yet itchy at the same time, as though thousands of invisible ants were biting her. She squirmed restlessly and kissed the man's Adam's apple desperately. With hunger in her eyes, she begged the man to save her.

No man could refuse such a temptress. She was pure yet attractive, shy yet coquettish.

"If you say so..."

The man was deeply attracted by her. His Adam's apple bobbed as he gulped. He wrapped his arms around Eliana's slender waist, raised her body slightly, and thrust himself into her.

"Ah!" Eliana screamed and moaned. It was hard to tell whether it was out of pain or pleasure.

Her endless desire made her grab the man's shoulders recklessly. The man slipped in and out of her until they finally reached climax. The impact made her tremble and sink into bed.

Before she lost consciousness, she noticed a very obvious scar on the man's glistening chest.

The following morning, Eliana woke up with a splitting headache.

The moment she peeled her eyes open, she felt as though she had been run over by a truck. Her whole body ached, especially her crotch. The pain was difficult to describe.

It was as though she... had lost her virginity?

She pressed her fingertips against her temples, trying to sober herself up.

Last night, she recalled going to a party on a cruise ship because her best friend, Erica Duffy, had invited her. But after drinking a glass of champagne Erica had handed her, her body became hot and itchy, as though she was burning with desire.

Because she had felt so dizzy, Erica offered to take her to a room for her to rest.

But after Erica left her in that room, she spent a night of endless passion with the man with a scar on his chest.

Something was wrong... Something was terribly wrong with that glass of champagne.

Eliana needed to ask Erica about it.

Wincing in pain, Eliana hurried to put on her clothes and rushed to Erica's room.

"Asher... Harder... Harder!"

Erotic gasps came through the crack in the door, making Eliana's heart sink to her stomach.

Standing outside the slightly ajar door, Eliana felt like she had fallen into an ice cellar.

It was none other than her best friend, Erica, and her fiance, Asher Harrison, in the room.

"You're so fucking hot," Asher panted breathlessly. His hoarse voice was full of lust, a voice Eliana had never heard before.

Erica asked coquettishly, "Do you like it? Do you like me more than Eliana?"

Eliana's brain went completely blank. When she came to her senses, she had already pushed the door wide open.

Low and behold, on the bed, Erica and Asher were naked and entangled. The thick smell of sex hung in the air, proving that they had been at it all night.

In a panic, Asher grabbed the bathrobe beside him and started to put it on. "Eliana, wait-why are you here?"

"You... You...!"

Eliana was so angry that she pointed a trembling finger at them.

"Eliana, it was not what you think. I can explain!" Asher pleaded as he stumbled towards her.

"Asher..." Erica called out sweetly.

Eliana felt as though her heart had been stabbed a million times over.

She turned around and ran to the deck. All she wanted now was to leave this filthy place.

"Eliana!"

Asher caught up with her, panic written all over his face.

Eliana was caught in a dead end. After last night's party, all the other guests were still sound asleep, thanks to the alcohol. Only she and Asher were on the deck.

"Eliana, I swear. Erica and I didn't..." Asher stammered, struggling to find the words to complete his lie.

Eliana's back was to the railing. She had nowhere to run.

She shouted angrily, "Do you think I'm blind? Don't you dare come near me!"

Just then, a huge wave came and crashed against the small cruise ship. Eliana failed to grab hold of the railing. The impact of the wave flung her over the railing and she plummeted to the sea.

"Eliana!"

When Asher rushed up to the railing, there was no sign of Eliana on the sea surface.

"What happened, Asher?" Erica ran over, half-dressed and out of breath.

"Eliana fell into the sea. Wait here. I'll go get help."

After he rushed off, Erica plucked up her courage and peeked over the edge of the cruise ship.

Unexpectedly, she found that Eliana hadn't actually fallen into the sea.

It turned out that she was able to grab a rope by the side of the cruise ship when she fell. Her survival instinct drove her to climb up.

But she was quickly running out of strength. Just as she was about to let go, Erica's face appeared.

Eliana's eyes lit up with hope. "Erica, thank God! Help me!"

Erica was stunned for a moment. Then, a wicked smile suddenly played at the corners of her lips.

She reached down, but instead of helping Eliana up, she removed her fingers from the rope one by one.

Eliana's eyes widened with fear and shock. Her hope was dashed and was quickly replaced with despair.

"Why?!" She looked at her best friend in disbelief.

"Go to hell and ask the devil! But now that you're going to die, I will tell you something. Asher doesn't love you anymore. He even made sure that the Pierce Group would go bankrupt. He even played a role in the miserable death of your parents."

Erica's vicious words reached Eliana's ears.

Finally, Eliana felt numb all over. She lost her strength and plummeted to the sea. As she was swallowed by the turbulent water, she also drowned in hatred.

......

Five years later, at the airport.

Eliana pushed the luggage cart and walked outside. Adrian Pierce put on a serious face and said, "Let me help you, Mommy."

She lowered her head and touched his soft hair. "What a considerate son I have!"

"What about me, Mommy?" Aileen Pierce, her daughter, who was sitting in the luggage cart, poked her head out. Her glistening eyes made her look so adorable.

"Well, you are considerate enough to increase the weight of our luggage," Adrian commented sarcastically.

Aileen stood in the luggage cart, glaring at her brother.

Eliana chuckled while watching her kids interact; her eyes were filled with affection.

Just then, her phone vibrated. After Eliana glanced at the message, the smile on her face disappeared.

It was from Jonathan Bowman. "Call me when you arrive. I've arranged a nanny and a car for you," the message read.

While her eyes were glued to the phone, Eliana couldn't help but think of the man's gentlemanly appearance.

She hesitated whether to call Jonathan or not.

Because she was too absorbed in her thoughts, she was oblivious to what was happening to her kids.

Aileen was holding her favorite toy, a round crystal bear and playing happily.

All of a sudden, a passerby touched Aileen's hand, causing the bear to fall to the floor. The airport was crowded, so when the poor bear fell, it got kicked around by the people.

"My bear!" Aileen exclaimed.

"Aileen, wait!" Adrian shouted.

Aileen went after her bear, and Adrian chased her.

Soon, the bear rolled to a man's feet.

"Finally caught you!"

Aileen picked up the bear with a smile and looked up.

The man in front of her was tall and well-built. He was wearing a pure black suit. His facial features were pleasing to look at, and he had deep eyes. His intimidating presence made passersby keep their distance from him, but it captivated Aileen.

The man lowered his head and looked into the little girl's eyes. Their eyes looked so similar.

Aileen's eyes lit up, and she wrapped her arms around the man's thigh.

"Daddy!" she exclaimed.

Chapter 2 Climb Out Of Hell

Time froze all of a sudden.

Maurice Moran looked down at the child clinging to his leg.

The little girl was adorable. Her face was pink and her eyes formed two perfect crescent moons. Maurice could see his reflection in her cute eyes.

Caught in a daze, he found himself unable to take his eyes off her.

He had never seen such a cute child before. In fact, he found her so adorable that he wanted to whisk her away right then and there.

When he came to his senses, he asked the little girl gently, "Where's your mother?"

On the other side of the airport, Eliana was in a panic, looking for her missing children.

All of a sudden, she heard a familiar man's voice coming from behind her.

"Eliana!"

Eliana stopped in her tracks.

Upon turning around, she saw a man holding a large bouquet of bright roses, staring right at her.

She then took off her sunglasses and saw the man's face clearly.

It was none other than Asher.

Her heart seemed to stop in her chest and the blood in her body froze. She could have recognized that voice anywhere, even in hell.

Eliana turned around and slowly took off her sunglasses. She got a good look at the man's handsome face.

"Eliana, oh, my God! It's really you..."

Asher wondered if he was dreaming. He couldn't help but reach out his hand, wanting to touch the beautiful face he thought about day and night.

"What the hell are you doing?"

A shrill scream interrupted their exchange.

It wasn't until then that Asher withdrew his hand, as if he had just been violently woken up from a pleasant dream.

Eliana looked in the direction of the scream. A playful smile tugged at the corners of her lips.

This was perfect! Asher and Erica!

Her enemies had gathered together, which saved her the effort.

"Who the fuck do you think you are, bitch? How dare you seduce my husband? You-"

Erica abruptly fell silent. Her eyes went as wide as saucers as she pointed at Eliana in horror, completely unable to speak.

'Is this the ghost of Eliana? Hasn't she thrown Eliana into the raging sea herself?'

"Eliana, is that you? Are you a ghost or are you human?"

Eliana raised her eyebrows. The corners of her bright red lips curved up slightly. She did look like a hauntingly beautiful ghost.

"Death didn't take me in. Instead, he let me climb out of hell to find you."

Her words sent a shiver down Erica's spine, and goose bumps formed all over her body.

The scene from five years ago was still vivid in her mind. She had plucked Eliana's fingers off the rope one by one until she let go and plummeted to the sea.

Did Eliana really come to take revenge?

The thought made Erica tremble.

Asher didn't seem to notice that Erica was acting strange. He just stared at Eliana obsessively, wanting nothing but to hold her hand.

"Eliana, I'm so glad you're alive. This time, we'll never be separated again, okay?"

Still smiling, Eliana took a step closer to Asher, which made his heart race.

However, the next moment, he was slapped on the face-hard.

Rubbing her reddened palm, Eliana said flatly, "Don't talk nonsense. Tell me, were you involved in the bankruptcy of the Pierce Group?"

Asher was stunned by the slap, and panic was written all over his face when he heard Eliana's question. Before he could think straight, he blurted out, "How did you know?"

Eliana sneered coldly and remarked, "Ask your wife."

Asher looked at Erica and narrowed his eyes at her suspiciously.

"Eliana, don't try to ruin my good name!" Erica wrung her hands anxiously.

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is an emergency notice. There is a boy named Adrian Pierce and a girl named Aileen Pierce here at the airport service hall. Will the children's parents please come and fetch them as soon as possible? Again, this is an emergency notice..."

Adrian, Aileen!

Hearing the broadcast, Eliana ditched those scumbags of a couple and ran to the service hall as fast as she could.

Asher seemed to want to follow her, but Erica stopped him. He watched Eliana run off, lost in thought for a long time.

Seeing the longing on her husband's face, Erica gritted her teeth with hatred.

As soon as Eliana arrived at the service hall, she saw Aileen and Adrian sitting on two chairs.

"Oh, my babies! I was so scared. I thought I was gonna lose you both."

She hurriedly went to hug them. "Where did you two run off to?"

"I was looking for our daddy!" Aileen said with excitement in her tone.

"Daddy? Who?" Eliana was stunned.

"This is all Aileen's fault. She saw a good-looking guy earlier and called him 'daddy'," Adrian grumbled.

Upon hearing that, Eliana became worried about her daughter's impulsive behavior.

"Aileen, don't ever do that again. It's dangerous. Do you understand?"

Aileen nodded obediently.

Eliana sighed and bowed to the staff beside her.

"Sorry to have troubled you. Who sent the kids here? I'd like to thank him for his kindness."

The staff smiled at her and replied, "Your children are so lucky to have met a kindhearted prominent man. The CEO of the Moran Group was the one who brought them here."

Eliana's heart skipped a beat when she heard that. She grabbed her kids and ran out, causing the twins to get scared.

But by the time she ran out, the man was already gone. All she saw was a Maybach driving past them.

There was a man sitting inside the car. When he passed them by, he rolled up the car window.

The Maybach soon disappeared, and Eliana didn't even get to see his face clearly.

Chapter 3 A Good Man

As the Maybach's engine roared, Maurice sped past Eliana and the twins.

Right before he closed the window, he caught a glimpse of the group of three.

Maurice frowned and felt somewhat dissatisfied with the woman he had never met.

'What a careless woman! How on earth did she manage to lose such cute children?'

But when Aileen's cute face crossed his mind, Maurice's heart softened.

In the blink of an eye, the Maybach disappeared behind the corner, leaving the dazed Eliana behind.

"Mommy, what's the matter with you? Are you still mad at me?" Aileen whispered, reaching for her mother's hand.

Adrian rolled his eyes. "It's all your fault. Why would you call a stranger 'daddy'?"

"Mommy, I promise I'll never do it again," Aileen solemnly vowed.

It wasn't until then that Eliana came to her senses. She smiled at her daughter gently. "I'm not angry with you."

"Then why weren't you answering me?" Aileen asked, pouting in confusion.

At this, Eliana fell silent once more.

She just thought it was a coincidence.

Over the past five years, she had never forgotten that someone had deliberately plotted to make the Pierce Group go bankrupt. After her relentless investigation, she finally found some clues.

She had found that Asher was also involved, but he was just a pawn. There was someone else behind all of it.

Before, she used to think that her father had jumped off a building because he couldn't bear the blow, and that her mother had also killed herself because she couldn't stand his death. However, now Eliana wondered if that wasn't all there was to it.

From the looks of things, it seemed that the Moran Group was behind all this.

"Mommy, you're not answering me again!" Aileen pouted and shook Eliana's hand vigorously.

Finally, she came back to her senses again. She lightly touched the twins' heads.

"Let's go and meet the person who came to pick us up."

With one child's hand in each of her own, Eliana waited at the entrance of the airport.

After a while, a Lincoln screeched to a halt in front of them.

"Miss Pierce, you're finally here!" An amiable middle-aged woman got out of the car. "You can call me Kimora. Mr. Bowman has made arrangements for everything. Let's get in the car first."

Aileen and Adrian jumped up and down excitedly. "Great! Jonathan sent someone here to pick us up!"

Eliana and the twins got in the car and were taken to the house that Jonathan had arranged for her to live in.

After putting away her things, Eliana pulled out her cellphone hesitantly. Finally, she made a call.

"Thank you, Jonathan," Eliana said politely.

"Eliana, no need to be so formal." The man's voice was low and pleasant to the ears. "I know you returned home to investigate the matter of the Pierce Group. I'd like to help you. Call me if you need me."

"Thanks again."

Other than these two words, Eliana didn't know what else she could say to Jonathan.

It was Jonathan who had saved her life when she fell into the sea.

After she was rescued, they found out that she was pregnant.

The doctor said that she was in poor condition and that abortion might put her life at risk. So, thanks to Jonathan's help again, she managed to give birth to Aileen and Adrian.

She owed Jonathan her life, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't force herself to love him. Since she could sense that he had feelings for her, it was difficult for her to face him.

It would be heartless of her if she refused him, but she also couldn't persuade herself to accept him. In a word, she was caught between a rock and a hard place.

After getting off the phone with Jonathan, Eliana shook her head to get rid of these messy thoughts.

Now was not the right time to get into a relationship. Her number one priority was to investigate the truth about what had happened to the Pierce Group!

She looked at her cellphone once more and tapped on the job offer from the Moran Group.

"Dear Miss Pierce, welcome to the Moran Group!"

She clenched her fists tightly and came up with a plan.

The sudden bankruptcy of the Pierce Group and the deaths of her parents... She had to investigate everything herself!

......

Next day, Eliana went to the Moran Group.

The Moran Group had a prime location and its tall Twin Towers were magnificent.

The receptionist led Eliana into the office and reminded her in a low voice, "This is Gabrielle Aston, the director of the Design Department."

Eliana nodded and walked inside.

A woman sat on the sofa in the middle of the room. She looked Eliana up and down.

The woman's gaze made her uncomfortable. Eliana kept her cool and smiled politely. "Hello, I'm Eliana Pierce."

"Welcome to the Moran Group." Gabrielle smiled. She gave Eliana a meaningful look and said, "I have a client meeting tonight. You can go with me."

"Tonight?" Eliana was surprised, but she immediately hid it. "Okay."

Gabrielle nodded with satisfaction and walked toward the door, swaying her hips. "Follow me."

Eliana was ready to go through the formalities. As they stepped out of the elevator, she saw the employees' faces become serious, as though they were faced with a formidable enemy.

A tall figure walked out of an office room, surrounded by senior executives. He wore a haut suit and had a dignified posture. He was clearly not an ordinary employee.

Eliana blinked and stared at the man. He looked familiar.

The man stopped in the corridor and turned his head.

"Eliana," Gabrielle called her from behind.

Eliana was dragged aside before she could react.

Gabrielle's face darkened and her eyes turned cold. "You have to know your place. Mr. Moran is ruthless and distant. If you display any inappropriate feelings towards him, you will be fired immediately."

The man was Maurice, the CEO of the Moran Group.

Eliana thought for a moment and lowered her head obediently. "I understand."

Gabrielle snorted and walked into the office, but Eliana didn't move. She raised her head and looked down the corridor.
