IT was a beautiful sunny day in Summerville city. The sun was shining brightly above the sky, very clear and blue.

Summerville is the capital city of York State and also the business capital in the country. Skyscrapers are standing everywhere, the streets were bustling with vehicles and people for their daily work.

Those huge and tall buildings everywhere owned by the elites proved that Summerville is the top economic city in the continent and among of it towering the rest was the magnificent Galaxy Empire Group managed by the most outstanding and invincible young businessman in the world, Alexander Harris.

Due to his wide range dominance of power, irrefutable capabilities and cunningness he have been listed as the most powerful businessman and capitalist in York State and many of his fellow businessmen kneeled before him in great fear. Nobody have the guts to offend him as offending Mr. Harris is like digging their own graves. Whoever comes in his way, to his eyes they were just like dust. He can sweep them away anytime he want. He was well known all over the country as the cruel and ruthless CEO, devoid with the slightest of humanity whether business related or personal matters.

Standing tall and dignified behind the floor to ceiling window, Alex was looking down the rest of the city in a deep thought while listening quietly to his assistant's report from time to time. The building he owned consists of fifty sixths floors, it was the highest and largest building that stood mightily in the whole city.

No one new what he was thinking at the moment.

" Sir, Mr. Trevor has finally signed the papers about the land you were pursuing from southern district of Summerville "

Earl reported which caught his attention right away.

There was a glint passed through his deep obsidian eyes and his sexy thin lips slightly curved.

The land that he've been pursuing from the southern area was owned by a lavish businessman named Mr. Trevor.

He fancied the area as it was very convenient for the big development he have on his mind.

He was planning to built a huge hotel and casino on that place but Mr. Trevor firmly refused his proposal which was at a very good price and benefits.

Speaking of doing business he's a very straightforward person. He doesn't have much patience and always liked to take the shortest method as always.

To avoid further delays on the project he just played a little tricks on him. Mr Trevor have a lot of dirty works and philandering secretly for awhile.

Due to his status in the upper class society he didn't want to smeared his good name in public. For fear of being exposed the old man has forcibly signed the papers in order to maintain his pure character.

" Good. Start the construction as soon as possible "

He gave the order.

After Earl finished his report and got the boss's order, he was contemplating in his mind if he shoul relay the elderly's message to him.

Alex asked him furrowing his brows." Is there anything else? "

" Ms. Croft has arrived yesterday. The old lady arranged a meeting for the both of you this afternoon "

Everybody knew that the Croft family has long had a very good relationship with the Harris's. And everybody is aware that Ms. Croft admired Alex for a long time.

Hailee Croft was the only daughter of a powerful businessman from Cameron city, the neighboring country of York State. She was a well mannered young lady from a notable family, pretty and very capable. And for the old lady, she couldn't find any more suitable woman for Alex than her.

"Do i still need to tell you what to do? " Alex coldly reminded his assistant.

" Not at all Sir " Earl responded right away.

" If there's nothing else you can leave " he coldly commanded.

" Yes Mr. Harris " Earl bowed slightly before leaving.

He understood his grandma's concerns about him. She dotted on him very much and was already urging him to get married and have children. She was very eager and hopeful to see his great grandchildren soon.

Maybe she only pitied him as he was lacking the warmth of familial love. His parents had been separated for almost 20 years. The reason was his father's infidelity that lead to his mother's severe depression and became mentally unstable. His mother couldn't stand his father's betrayal and humiliation. His mother found that he was keeping a mistress outside and even had a child.

He was just eight or nine years old when that incident happened but the memory had been deeply buried in his heart. He hated his father very much since then for being such an incompetent husband and a father.

That hate grew even more deeper when he brought his mistress back home after his mother was sent away.

His resentment towards his own father shaped him to become the person he is now, ruthless and full of indifference.

This was the hard knot that have been greatly tied to his heart for a very long time. His grandma have been very worried about him that he might not be able to start his own family and will be left single all his life.

She already tried to set him up on too many blind dates with excellent women but he was never interested to anyone of them.

He doesn't have mysophobia but whenever those women gets close to him he felt like he was surrounded with highly contagious diseases.

The fact that they only approached him for wealth and fame as his leech-like step mother made him so disgustedly sick deep within his bones!

He didn't mind living in celibacy for a lifetime besides, all his concerns was only about business and making huge profits and power.

However, his Grandma was still persistent on her plans and have come up to her last resort, threatened him that if he will not find a good woman and get married in three months she will give her 15 percent of shares to his father.

Though he wasn't shaken about it he still gave it a thorough thinking and carefully analyzed the pros and cons.

He deeply cared and respected his Grandmother as she was the one who raised him and clearly he knew well she was only doing it for his sake so maybe he will give it a thought and might fulfill her wish if that what makes her happy.

Besides love and marriage are two different things for him. Everybody can get married without love and with his eminent status it's not hard for him to get a dutiful wife.

His grandmother's proposal was a win-win situation after all. It's like hitting two birds with one stone!

In Summer Spring's apartments...

Everett was preparing her things and was all ready to go on her shift to the current resto bar where she was working as a part-time waitress. She was a working student since high school until now that she's graduating in college. In order not to burden her mother with her living expenses she used to work day and night just to earn extra money for her studies.

She grew up from a mediocre family. She have a little brother who was still in senior high school. Their mother was the only one who raised the two of them. Their dad was obviously out of the picture and they didn't know anything about him at all as their mom never mentioned him to them ever since they had their consciousness.

They didn't pursue the matter as well and force her to tell the story behind. She truly understood that it might reopen the deep wound on his mother's heart so better not talk about it that was all in the past. Now is the most important. Their mother is very good at making simple jewelries and other handicrafts for souvenirs. They have rented a little shop in the southern district, not far away from their humble apartment. Although the three of them were living a simple life yet they're happy and very much contented.

When they have free time she and her brother Perry helped in the shop. They also inherited their mother's skills but she didn't took craftsmanship seriously. It was just her little hobby when she's bored at home. She studied finance instead as she was very good in business and marketing actually. She had a dream one day when she will have enough money she planned to pursue on jewelry business given that the three of them do have the skills it will be just be very easy.

" Sister are you going to work now? "

Her brother asked when she got out from her bedroom and headed to their small living room. Her brother was watching the news on tv.

" Yeah i will took one of my colleague's shift today because she was on leave. It's an extra income " she answered.

She was on a night shift but these next four days she will be taking her colleague's day shift because the woman got sick suddenly.

It's very convenient for her too because she wanted to earn more money including the tips from wealthy customers.

The pub she was currently working was the most prominent pub in the city. She got the job there because of her bff Kelly.

" What are you watching this early huh? You're wasting your time on useless things. It would be best if you help mom in the shop " she scolded her little brother early.

" It's not a useless thing to watch a news! Besides mom called just now and said she will close the shop and come home early "

" Did she tell you why? "

She find it a little strange because usually their mother comes home a little late everytime as their shop opens early in the morning and will be closed at seven pm.

" She didn't say anything. I seen on the news awhile ago that Galaxy Empire Group will be developing the southern district. You think this was the reason? "

Perry asked for her opinion. She pondered for a moment.

Knowing the Galaxy Empire group was the most powerful company in Summerville city this was more like the reason. The president of Galaxy Empire Group was well-known to be the most ruthless businessman in the whole continent. She have long heard the name Alexander Harris but he didn't appeared on tv or any magazines ever since his name became popular, not even in social media have his photo. They have no idea what does that ruthless guy looked like. Everyone were very scared just by mentioning his name.

She was wondering about it why do people were so afraid of him when he was also just a human--though he have lots of money he's not God at all, so what's the use of being scared of him? Hmp! He was nothing but a big jerk for being heartless to the poor. She hope he get his karma so soon!

Not long after, their mother finally came home with a gloomy face.

" Mom " she called out and walked to their mother to get the box that she's carrying.

" Why are you carrying heavy things! You should have called us so we can help you " she ranted on her mother.

The box was full of tools which their mother used on making jewelries and other handicrafts.

She's not in a good health these days and her migraine kept on attacking. Carrying heavy things will only worsen her health.

" I've already packed up all the things in the shop. We'll gonna get it tomorrow " Ellie said while putting on her slippers.

" But why are you closing the shop? "

She asked creasing her forehead. Her mother took a deep sigh before she started talking.

" All the shop who rented from that area, we received a short notice today that the new owner of the land will be starting the construction in a week. It was said that they will be building a big hotel and casino over there "

Their mother told them proceeding to the couch. She followed her and also took a seat.

It was obvious from her delicate face that she was aggrieved by the situation. It's hard to find a rental place nowadays.

The rental was sky high. Southern district was very suitable for their little business as many tourists often comes there because it was a bit near on the beach.

It's just a pity that there are people who were like hungry beasts that will never get satisfied with their huge preys and even the smallest businesses wasn't exempted.

" The Galaxy Empire right " she stated dully.

Her mother gently nodded with exasperation and said " The new management informed us that Galaxy Empire Group have already bought the place from the former owner. However they have given us enough compensation for the inconvenience "

" Compensate their ass! That's really how those wolves capitalists does everytime! They always looked down on the poor and thought we were just like ants that will easily crushed by them. They will get their retribution one day" she ranted while clenching her teeth.

" It's alright dear. With the amount of their compensation we can surely find another place to rent " her mother appeased her.

" The world was really unfair " she snorted in dissatisfaction while shaking her head.

Their mother fell on silence for a moment, then gently massage her forehead after.

" Are you okay mom? "

Both she and Perry asked worriedly.

" I'm alright. Just having a little headache. You'd better go now or you will be late on your shift " their mom responded with a warm smile on her face.

She didn't felt good about their Mom's condition during these days. Her headache was occuring several times these past two weeks.

" When i get my salary i will get you to the hospital for a full body check up "

Se said holding both of her hands that was slightly roughed due to her daily household chores and making the handicrafts.

Their mother was a beautiful woman even though she was already on her late forties it seems like she didn't aged at all. She was a mixed race of Western and Asian blood that's why her beauty was extraordinary.

Her face still looked delicate as it used to be when she was a little younger and her fair skin was still smooth like those of a young girl. She inherited her mother's good genes after all. She was actually like her mother's carbon copy. They were often praised in the neighborhood for having great facial features and good genes.

Perry who have been growing into a mature man, his facial features were also becoming more defined especially his sharp brows. He also got half of his facial features from their mom but half of it maybe he inherited from their father. Her brother was also a very handsome young man.

" I will be fine. You save your money for yourself " Ellie told her and pinched her hand like an assurance.

" Okay. But you must tell us if you're really not feeling well. Your health is more important " she reminded in a worried tone.

" I know, you don't have to worry about me. I'm totally fine " Ellie assured the two of them.

After ensuring that their mother was alright she gone off to work.

Alex on the other side was having a real headache after his grandmother's nonstop scolding on the phone about him and Hailee's lunch date early in the afternoon that she had painstakingly set up for him. The elderly got more furious when he blandly told her that he's not interested to her and to any women and that she was just wasting her strength and efforts.

He was grateful to her for raising him that's why he's being filial to his grandmother. But when it comes to his personal affairs he wouldn't mind to go harsh on rebuking her.

To relieve his throbbing headache he called his two good friends, Luke and Travis to have a good drink together. The two readily agreed and already waited him on the pub they used to hang out. That pub was a high end resto bar in Summerville City and a leisure place for him whenever he's bored or stressed out. No one knew that he also owned it as he have been very lowkey since he was starting his career, he didn't allow the media to published his photos. Even in financial magazines his photos was always capturing only his noble back. Only those top businessmen who happened to have a business transactions with him have luckily met him personally. No taking photos of the CEO, this is the very strict rule in his company. If someone dares to disobey it they will surely meet their worst ending.

" Hey hey finally you arrived! We're already very hungry " Luke ranted at him when he entered their private box.

He just ignored his nuisance and made his way to the opposite couch facing the two of them.

" We're buddies for decades but you're always treating us shabbily. You should at least brought some beautiful women to entertain us " Luke ranted at him again with a big mouth clicking his tongue and shaking his head.

Travis was just quietly eating snacks on the other side observing their lascivious friend's nonsense talking. This friend of them has the very annoying mouth ever. The three of them were really good friends for more than two decades. They were very familiar with each other's characters. Between Travis and Luke, the former was more rational and upright while the latter definitely the useless one.

" Can't you shut your big mouth? Are you short of women? " Travis reprimanded Luke's nuisance. The latter just rolled his eyes leaning his back on the couch feebly.

Alex took out his phone from his pocket and scanned his contacts and left a message to the manager before he stood up.

" Where are you going? " Luke asked him right away.

" Your expensive food and wine is coming over so shut your annoying mouth if you don't want me to throw you out " he warned him and got out from the room.

" Hey am i not your friend? You should be thanking us in the first place " Luke protested and give him a snort.

He gave him a cold glare that's enough to keep his mouth shut. Then he got out of the room.

" Why is he so grumpy today? " Luke muttered in the room and cast a glance to Travis.

" Don't look at me or I'll beat you up! " Travis also rebuked him harshly.

'What's happening with his friends today? They seemed like they're having a period' Luke thought to himself.

Alex was on his way to the restroom when his phone pinged on his pant's pocket. He took it and opened the incoming message. It was from his grandma again telling him to come to the old house for dinner. He only replied 'okay' to keep her from nagging him. He already knew his grandma's tactics. That said dinner wouldn't just a simple meal. He was about to put away his phone when somebody suddenly bumped on his chest followed by a loud clang on the floor.

" Aw " the woman uttered in a painful tone while holding her nose. " Are you blind?! Why are you standing on my way? " The little woman scolded him angrily.

His face turned dark right away. The nerve of this girl to shout at him!

" My phone " the woman collected her broken phone on the floor. She was checking it for a second if it was still usable but to her dismay it's already dead.

When she raised her head again to face him she was fuming with so much anger. Her little fair face became slightly red.

He quietly observed her with his eagle-like eyes.

She was just wearing a simple white t-shirt, jeans and doesn't seemed like a customer in the pub.

However her elegance still exuded in her simple get up along with very exquisite facial features. She have bright almond -shaped eyes and fairer skin tone. Her black and glossy hair were just hanged down over her shoulders. She looked plain but strikingly beautiful.

He pondered for a while and thought that this girl infront of him looked a bit familiar. He just couldn't remember where he had seen it.

" Do you know how many sleepless nights i have endured on working for this phone? " The woman said with gritted teeth. Her eyes were glaring fiercely at him in too much anger.

" I can replace your phone with ten pieces of it " he blandly replied without a hint of sympathy.

Eve flared up right away seeing the man's unapologetic look and behavior.

" What a horrible man! " The woman angrily cursed him and walked away.

He was stunned for a moment by her attitude towards him. Nobody ever dared to talk and curse him that way, not even those powerful people he annihilated ruthlesly! The last one who had offended him was already buried and rotten under the ground, let alone a woman? Who does she think she is?!

But then to his surprise he wasn't much offended by her rude words at all. Infact, he rather find her interesting. He was a bit amazed of her toughness and being sharp-tongued. She looked innocent and docile but she talks and act with boldness.

When Eve arrived at the locker room she put her phone on her backpack and collected herself again.

" Hey Evie you're almost late! Hurry now and change your clothes. Manager Dunne wants us to serve the food and wine at the room 619 " Kelly urged her to change.

" Oh okay " she responded and quickly changed her clothes.

After she finished changing her clothes they hurry their selves to deliver the said order to the private box.
