Mortician's Revenge

Author: : Eydie Pfefferle
Genre: Romance
I'm a mortuary cosmetologist, with both looks and money. My sister-in-law is a fan of my brother and always wants me to be her sister-in-law. As her brother approaches forty, someone introduced me for marriage. She brought people to the funeral home to cause a scene, claiming I was a mistress. In the end, I personally cremated her.

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

"Sabrina, even though you're a college graduate, you work at a funeral home. Only my brother would be desperate enough to want someone like you!"

I sneered at my sister-in-law, Roselyn. "If your brother is so wonderful, why don't you set him up with your best friend?"

"Well, my brother just got out of prison. No one else would want him!"

"So, you think I'm running a charity here?"

I stood up, refusing again. "I advise you to give up. There's no way I'm marrying your brother!"

"If your brother can't find a wife and your family line ends, that's the Gibson family's problem. Don't drag me into it!"

Roselyn picked up a glass of water and threw it at me. "Fine, I tried to talk nicely, but if you won't listen, don't blame me for being rude!"

I rolled my eyes at Roselyn and left for work.

Roselyn's life has always revolved around her brother. Her parents favored him over her and manipulated her from a young age. Ever since Roselyn's marriage, her brother has been obsessed with the idea of me marrying into their family. Roselyn schemed every day, using every trick in the book to get me to marry her brother. With her brother pushing forty, her parents were getting desperate, putting immense pressure on Roselyn, who then pressured me.

I didn't take her words to heart, but I never expected Roselyn to cause a scene at my workplace that afternoon.

"Aunt Sadie, this is the homewrecker I told you about. This shameless woman uses her looks to seduce my husband whenever I'm not around!"

"My husband's heart has been stolen by her. Look at this hussy! Today she's seducing my husband, and tomorrow she'll be after yours!"

I had just finished preparing a body, feeling nauseous. The deceased had died in a car accident, and their face was almost completely disfigured, a gruesome image that lingered in my mind, making me dizzy.

"Roselyn, what do you want now?" I asked coldly.

Roselyn held her stomach with one hand and wiped her tears with the other.

"Everyone, look at this shameless woman! She seduced my husband and is still so arrogant, without a shred of conscience. Why do our men despise us? It's because of mistresses like her!"

"Look at her, flaunting her jewelry. Just the gold bracelet on her hand costs at least ten thousand!"

I looked at Roselyn, who was causing a scene, and restrained my anger. "Roselyn, this is my workplace. If you have something to say, say it at home. If you keep causing trouble, I'll have to call the police!"

"You tramp, seducing someone else's husband and still acting so high and mighty!"

"Roselyn, don't worry. Today, Aunt Sadie will make sure this tramp learns not to mess with the Gibson family!"

I watched as Roselyn's lips curled into a cold smile. She mouthed silently, "Sabrina, you should have agreed to marry my brother."

"I tried to talk to you nicely, but you wouldn't listen. You forced me to use this tactic!"

Chapter 2

Chapter 2

I didn't even have time to react before they surrounded me.

Someone yanked my hair, another hit me on the back. One even tried to slap my face, but I managed to fight back.

Roselyn stood behind the others, causing trouble. "Aunt Sadie, go easy on her. My husband loves this tramp's face!"

"And those eyes, always luring people in!"

"She works with dead bodies every day, yet my husband says they're beautiful. He even prepares hot water for her to wash up after work!"

I hadn't eaten breakfast, and I had been standing all afternoon. I was exhausted.

I grabbed someone's arm and shoved her aside. I roared, "I'm her sister-in-law! Her husband is my brother!"

Someone paused and looked at Roselyn suspiciously. "Roselyn, is she really not your sister-in-law?"

Feigning innocence, Roselyn said, "Aunt Sadie, she dares to claim she's my sister-in-law in front of you. Imagine how she bullies me when you're not around!"

"I finally found a good man to marry, and all I want is a peaceful life. But this wicked woman wants me to divorce my husband!"

"She said that if I divorced, everything in my house would be hers, and I'd never be able to drive my car to visit you again!"

I had indeed said those words, but it was when Roselyn was causing trouble at home, and I was warning her.

They started hitting me. These women might look thin, but they were all strong farm workers, each with a stronger grip than the last.

My scalp hurt like hell, as if it were being torn off. I mustered all my strength and kicked the person pulling my hair to the ground.

I struggled to get my phone out and found a photo of my brother and me.

"Look closely. This is a photo of me and my brother. We are real siblings!"

The girl in front widened her eyes. "Roselyn, could you be lying to us? She does look a lot like your husband!"

"The Saunders family does have a girl, and I heard she's a college student!"

"Now that you mention it, I remember seeing this girl at the Saunders' house during Roselyn's wedding!"

Roselyn snorted and acted like she didn't care. "Aunt Sadie, you've met Liam's parents. This woman is too beautiful to be from the Saunders family!"

"Even if she is Liam's real sister, she shouldn't be trying to get close to her own brother!"

"Roselyn, what do you want? My colleagues aren't back yet, so if you have something to say, say it now. If you push me too far, you'll regret it!"

Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Roselyn stepped forward and slapped me across the face, grabbing my phone out of my hand.

"You shameless woman, trying to pretend to be my sister-in-law. Look at yourself! Do you really think someone like you could ever be part of my family?"

"Aunt Sadie, take a good look. What kind of siblings take photos like this?"

Roselyn opened my photo album and deliberately selected pictures of me and my brother looking close.

There was one where we were shopping, and he was holding my bag for me. Another was from a hiking trip where he helped me up a steep slope. The rest were just family photos where I happened to lean my head towards him-a habit I'd had since childhood.

"You've all been deceived by Roselyn. She's just trying to..."

Roselyn slapped me again, cutting me off.

"Aunt Sadie, gag her with a cloth. Let's see if she can keep talking!"

The women pinned me down, and a woman in her fifties took out a cloth. She forced my jaw open.

"This girl's mouth is still defiant. Let's see if I can shut it up today!"

The woman slapped my face back and forth until I tasted blood. My head spun, and I was forced to open my mouth. The moment the cloth was stuffed in, I felt a wave of nausea and gagged, vomiting violently.

Roselyn, with her pregnant belly, couldn't dodge in time and got covered in my vomit from head to toe.

"Sabrina, you did that on purpose!" Roselyn screeched, pointing at me angrily. "Aunt Sadie, teach her a lesson! Hit her hard!"

"Whoever helps the most today will get the necklace around her neck and the gold bracelet on her wrist!"

As soon as Roselyn finished speaking, someone grabbed my neck and yanked hard, ripping off my necklace. Several others gritted their teeth, trying to pull off my bracelet.

This bracelet was a reward I bought for myself in my first year of work. Now, I've gained over ten pounds since then, and it wouldn't come off easily.

But these people didn't care and used brute force to pull at it. I felt like my bones were about to break.

I cried and begged, "You're breaking my bones! Please stop!"

"This bracelet won't come off!"

I screamed at the top of my lungs, "Roselyn is lying to you! This bracelet isn't real gold. I bought it at a cheap jewelry store just for fun!"
