Chapter 1 THE TRAP

MORRIGAN'S POV

"So hungry."I grumbled rubbing my stomach. It had been a while since I'd eaten something. Being a rogue had its ups and downs, and today I was experiencing one of those downsides.

I lost my parents when I was young and ever since then I'd just been on my own moving from one place to another. There were good and bad moments. When you are a rogue you need to be careful of both packs and other rogue wolves. Packs want to either imprison you or kill you, some want you to join their packs and rogues want to steal from you or kill you and when you are female they take advantage of you.

After a while of being a lone wolf I'd just decided to avoid going near pack territories and avoid other rogue wolves as much as possible, but it was not always possible.

I always stuck to the dense forests, most packs cleared their territories and they always marked them so I could smell it from miles away.

'Snap', a sharp sound had me looking around. I smelt it before I saw it, a rabbit. My stomach growled even louder and my mouth began to salivate. I hadn't eaten in days.

If I changed into my wolf form, the rabbit would get away so I dove towards it without any hesitation. I missed it by an inch, it hopped away and I chased after it.

I ran after it not caring or checking where I was going, my main focus was catching it and eating it.The hunger was driving me insane.

If only those pack wolves hadn't tried to capture me, I wouldn't have lost a week's worth of food.

The hunger made me slower than normal and the rabbit was clearly going to get away, so in a desperate attempt I tried to use my power which didn't go well as it only drained me. I watched the rabbit hop behind a line of trees.

"Fucking hell!" I cussed and chased after it. This had to be the worst week in a very long time, I got ambushed by a pack for a reason unknown to me, I lost all my food, I fell down a cliff, I couldn't even use my powers cause I was exhausted and hungry, and now I can't even catch a fucking rabbit.

"Stupid rabbit! Come back here, let me eat you!

Just as I made it to the line of trees the ground below me gave in and I found myself falling down. As soon as I hit the ground a sharp pain went through my entire body and I let out a loud and agonizing scream.

I did not understand what was going on. A weak whimper came from beside me. I struggled to turn my head in that direction, a naked man was laying there. On a net? We were caught in a large net covered in wolfsbane.

"Caught another one." I heard a voice say above us. I was struggling to stay awake. The pain was unbearable, something I had never felt before.

"Hurl them up and put them in the dungeon until Alpha Zephyr and Beta Ronan get back." Someone said,

"Fucking rogues...always... our...pack... ready... fucking... suf....."the voice slowly faded away as I lost consciousness.

"Wake up." Someone whispered. "Wake up child." This time louder than before.

I slowly opened my eyes, every single bone in my body hurt. It felt like I had been trampled by a herd of moose.

After a long struggle I managed to sit up. I slowly looked around, it was a dark place with only a single small window to let in air and a candle illuminating the place. The ground was hard and cold and there were bars.

I wasn't alone in the cell, there were 3 other people with me. They were all rogue wolves and male. They looked worse than me, bruised with messy hair, and they had obviously been beaten and they weren't healing quickly.

"Where are we?" My voice came out hoarse and dry.

Nobody looked in my direction let alone reply to me. I sighed and adjusted myself.

This was definitely a pack's territory. I was so focused on catching that stupid rabbit that I failed to notice that I was invading some pack's territory.

I could probably get away, right? I mean I'd done it a couple of times, I could either use my geokinesis or soul howl to get out of here.

"Same powers that drained your last when you tried to catch a fucking rabbit." I thought. I let out a frustrated groan.

I sat there with the other three guys, awaiting whatever it was that was going to be done to us. The sun that seeped through the window slowly faded and the candle burned out leaving us in the darkness only a small and dull light came from the moon.

No one came and I couldn't smell anyone either. This was the first time I had come into contact with wolfsbane. I had seen it from afar, now I understood why others feared it so much.

Werewolves using wolfsbane on other wolves, evil and fucking vile. I could hear the others' light snores but I could not sleep. How could I be in a situation like this? I was hungry and tired.

My stomach growled multiple times, it felt like there were little ants biting me in my stomach. My head pounded so much I thought it was going to explode.

My whole body felt like it was being pricked by needles. Was I going to die here just like this, of hunger and pain?

My eyelids fluttered as I tried hard not to fall asleep. I did not trust the men in here with me or the men outside these bars wherever they were, I did not trust anyone except myself.

One of the last things my father told me was to only trust myself and to survive no matter what. So I needed to survive no matter what.

Chapter 2 MATE

MORRIGAN'S POV

"Bang!" A loud sound jolted me up. My head was pounding. Everything hurts like hell. I tried opening my eyes but they wouldn't open. The wolfsbane was delaying my healing process.

"Get them out!" Someone yelled, causing my head to hurt even more.

"Get up!" I felt a sharp kick in my side. I groaned in pain.

"Drag her out, the alpha is waiting." Someone else said.

"Drag me out?" I thought, as soon as I managed to get out of here I am going to make these motherfuckers pay for the pain I am going through.

Someone dragged me out like I was a log. My sense of smell started coming back. I could smell different scents and food.

At the smell of food my eyes shot open, I immediately closed them again because of the bright light. It was way brighter than in the dungeon.

"Is she the last one?" A deep voice said. It sent shivers down my spine. This was definitely an alpha, and a strong one at that.

"Yes Alpha." The same person from the dungeon answered. I was forced to kneel.

"What is your name?" His deep voice rumbled. I could feel goosebumps forming on my skin.

I slowly opened my eyes and blinked a couple of times. I turned my head left and right looking at my surroundings. We were outside in a big field, there were wooden houses facing away from where I was. I finally looked in front of me, there were two men seated and one standing besides them. From looking at them I could tell who the Alpha was from his dark and strong aura.

He had hair as dark as a moonless and starless night, his eyes were darker than anything I'd ever seen before, so empty. He had a thin and long nose, a sharp jaw, high cheekbones and bushy eyebrows.

The one seated beside him seemed powerful too, so maybe the Beta and the one beside them was among those who brought us here yesterday.

"The Alpha asked you a question?" The one who dragged me here shouted, kicking me in the side.

These idiots were really starting to piss me off, first they trapped me,used wolfsbane on me, locked me up and now they even dare to hit me.

I slowly raised my hand and a few rocks began levitating. I directed them to the guy who hit me and then hit him one after another, he fell down and let out a series of pained groans.

"A sharp pain shot up my hand and I was forced to stop. I struggled to catch my breath.

"What was that? Is she a witch?" The man standing next to the alpha exclaimed. I slowly lifted my head and glared at him. "Witches are fucking extinct, idiot." I thought.

"What are you?" The Beta asked, eying me cautiously.

"Let me go." I said weakly. I just wanted to get away from here, find some food and sleep.

"Answer the question. Are you really a witch? But how is that possible? I can smell your wolf and there are no witches left." The Beta asked, he slowly got up from his seat.

"That's none of your business." I spat out. My identity was none of their concern, all they needed to do was let me go.

"Join my pack." The Alpha voiced startling me. "Zephyr!" The beta exclaimed in surprise. Hell even I was surprised, what was this douchebag saying. Did he really think I would agree to join their pack after all they did to me.

"No." I said leaving no room for argument or negotiation. A smirk appeared on his face. "You either join my pack or die. It's up to you."

"Alpha how can we let a low life rogue join our pack!" The man besides the Alpha protested. One look from him and he bowed his head in submission.

"No." I repeated. I wasn't going to die, as soon as I regained my energy I was going to whoop their asses and run.

He walked towards me, my heart started beating faster than usual. His aura was very intimidating and as much as I didn't want to admit it I was afraid. He stopped right in front of me and squatted down to my level.

His scent hit my nostrils, mint. My head was spinning, he smelt so good. Why did he smell this good? I'd smelt mint before and it didn't make my mouth water like this.

"So you would rather die than join my pack." He smirked, before placing his fingers under my chin and forcing me to look into his eyes.

The moment his fingers touched me, it felt like I was floating. My skin was covered in goosebumps and I was burning up. My breath got caught up in my throat, his eyes were drawing me in and I felt like I was drowning in them. The pain, anger and hunger I was feeling disappeared and all I could feel, see and smell were him.

What was this feeling? And why did it feel so good, why did I keep wanting to look at this handsome stranger.

A strong shove had me spilled out on my back and the spell was broken just like that.

"It can't be you.." he growled, "you cannot be my mate." He yelled.

Mate? My eyes widened at the realization, he was my mate. This could not be happening to me, it was not happening. This was all a terrible dream I was having or maybe they were hallucinations because I was hungry, right? Right!?

I closed and opened my eyes hoping to wake up from this nightmare. I pinched myself and winced in pain.

Oh goddess, this was real. I really had found my mate. The one i prayed and hoped to never, ever meet in this life or even in my wildest dreams.

Chapter 3 DENIAL

ZEPHYR'S POV

"Is it done?" I asked my Beta, Ronan. He nodded his head. I sighed and ran a hand through my hair.

A mate was the last thing on my mind. I admit there were moments, when I had been younger, that I had secretly yearned for someone to call my own, but that was years ago. I had just come to terms that the moon goddess had forgotten to create a mate for me.

But then the moment I touched her it felt like the world had come to a stop and it was only her and I left in the entire world. I yearned for her. I could never have imagined that a rogue would be my mate.

"She put up a fight and she kept screaming for us to let her go." Ronan said, bringing me out of my thoughts.

"Keep her in there until I make up my mind and be careful we do not know what else she can do. " I waved my hand and Ronan walked out, but not before shooting me a worried look.

As soon as the door closed, I faced up before closing my eyes. What a mess.

Could I really accept her as my mate? I didn't even know her name, she refused to tell me her name. She looked like she did not want me as her mate, the moment I asked my men to lock her up in one of the rooms in my house she began screaming and kicking.

Would Celeste accept this? After all, a rogue killed her mate and ever since then we had to put up traps in case rogue wolves came into our territory.

Why did she come into our pack territory, was she trying to steal from us? Or maybe she wanted to harm my pack members.

And what was up with the power she showed, was that her only power or did she have more? Was she a witch, but witches were extinct. Maybe a hybrid?

I let out a frustrated groan. I had so many unanswered questions. If I went to the room she was in would she answer my questions, probably not.

Being an alpha was not easy. My parents died when I was eighteen, and I had to step up as the Alpha of the pack. My father had always taught me to be strict but fair and to never abuse my role and power as an alpha.

My parents loved each other a lot and I had always admired the love they had for each other but they left me too soon. In my teenage years I had always hoped that I would have a relationship like theirs with the girl I had been crazily in love with, Celeste Everleigh. But that was until she found her mate a few months after my parent's death.

I had to be strong, as the alpha I had to let her go to her mate. Ever since then I vowed to sorely focus on my alpha duties. The person who had been with me through all these times was my friend since childhood, Ronan Draven, and he later became my Beta.

He was an excellent friend and Beta, even though I didn't tell him all these things I really appreciated him being around and always putting in his best effort for our friendship and pack.

From the look he gave me earlier I could tell that he wasn't happy with my decision to keep the girl in my house, but rogue or not she was my mate.

A knock on the door, got me out of my thoughts. I ran a hand over my face and sat up straight. I placed my hands on the desk in front of me.

"Come in." Ronan walked in with a determined look on his face.

He calmly sat down in the chair across from me. "Zephyr, we cannot keep her here."

"Don't." I said.

" I know okay, I know she's your mate but this girl is dangerous. Did you see how she knocked down Rick with flying stones, with freaking flying stones!" He exclaimed, waving his hands dramatically in the air.

"She has a power , so what?" I questioned.

"Yes, a power that she is not supposed to have. We are werewolves, we are not supposed to be able to do what she did and who knows if it's just one power. What if she has more powers that we know nothing about. She is a danger to you and to this pack."

"I will decide on what to do with her but for now she stays."

"Zephyr, have you thought about how Celeste is going to feel about you letting a rogue wolf stay in our pack? And about her being your ma..."

"Stop!" I used my alpha voice on him. He bowed his head in submission.

"She is my mate, nobody will tell me what to do with her. Only I hold the power to decide whether I will keep her or kill her." I said with a stern voice.

"I apologize for overstepping my boundaries." He bowed his head again.

I exhaled loudly, I didn't mean to be so harsh but if I wasn't I would never hear the end of it.

"Now go and ask Kierra to feed her. Unless I say so, do not let anyone else into that room except for kierra." I commanded.

His eyes widened slightly before agreeing. Kierra Ashthorne, was his mate. They had been together for two years.

"She's the only one I can trust with this." I said.

"I will get to it then." He replied before getting up to leave.

He stopped at the door and turned to look at me.

"Be careful with her. I'm saying this as a friend who is genuinely worried." He opened the door and walked out.

This was gonna be one hell of a ride.
