"Selena"

Her best friend tugged her arm relentlessly while sleeping, "SELENA"Immediately she heard her name she jolted from her sleep.

"Really Olivia,what is your issue leave me I want to sleep"

"Guess what, I went to the grocery store and across the street I saw a jewelry store and guess what I just saw Jake buying a ring for you,he is gonna propose and soon I will be an aunt"Oliver giggled.

Selena screamed in excitement,turned in anticipation, her joy knew no bounds.

"Just calm down okay,I suggest you act like you know nothing and wait to be astonished "

Finally after ten years of waiting desperately,of loving him desperately,it was happening no more doubts,no more watching him grow distant,he chose her,her.

Her best friend looked at her irritably, "that is no proud thing to say, are you hearing yourself? After ten years and you think you are making sense"

Selena pouted, "oh common,I know I know you hater that fact but the fact that I would soon get married makes me so excited finally I can show that by conniving step sister that I got engaged before she could ever"

"Fine, I will give that idiot the benefit of doubt"

"Don't call my soon to be husband and idiot,we are in love here please"

"Shut up,till he put that ring on your finger,he is still an idiot"

Selena giggled excitedly,she rose up from bed to have her bathe,Jake has been the best she could ever have,he loved her so much.

While in the bathroom,she heard her best friend shout, "Selena, dress up we have to go out and celebrate"

"Where should we go?"

"The bar obviously"

"Olivia, I am definitely not doing that with you"Selene glared at her.

"Please just for the last time, follow me I beg of you"

"Fine but at least let me get the ring"Selena let out a sigh of frustration.

A notification came in her phone,she picked it up and checked it, "meet me at the restaurant five pm"

"Oh my gosh, Olivia he just texted me to meet him, it's 4:00 pm now I am so excited,how do I look?"

"You look stunning,now chop chop go"

"Okay"she smiled and waited for the time to clock 4:30 pm,she packed up her jewelries and wore a simple stud earring, dropping her hair down.

She was ready.

"And is Jake not meant to come and pick you?"

"Hmm I thought of it but he might be busy ,I don't want to bother him"

"No man is too busy for you Selena"

"Please stop it Olivia,you already have some irks with him, can't you support me this once?"

"Fine"

Going outside and turning on the engine of her car,she smiled widely, ensuring her white floral dress and brunette hair was perfect,her lipgloss check too.

She drove off to the restaurant where they always had dinner,most times she was always the one planning dinner dates but for the first time he planned a date with her making her excited.

She parked her small Camry car and stepped out of it with her golden high heels,she looked at him from the transparent glass of the restaurant and waved excitedly rushing in to meet him and settling down on the chair.

"Jake how are you?"Selena could not stop smiling at the thought of him marrying her, he didn't respond to her question and held her hand, "I have an important information to tell you"

"Okay what is it?"

"Will you marry me"

Oh boy it was a dream come true.

That was what she wanted to hear but he said otherwise.

"I need some money for some business meetings please lend me 2000 USD"

He exhaled heavily, "babe you know how much this means to me. I have been struggling to get this deal through without it...I don't know, it feels like everythingI am working for is falling apart,but you believe in me don't you,you will support me?"

Selena looked at him confused,where was the ring? "What do you want to use it for Jake,you know I don't have enough with me,I only have 500 USD right now,no money to pay the rent"

"But you can accept that job offer and be able to give me the money right?"

"Fine I will accept the job offer" his eyes gleamed with happiness as he rose to hug her and kiss her, "thank you so much Selena"

She even paid for their bills for the rest of the night,she retired home with tears watering her eyes.

"You said what?"

"I will accept the job offer,I need to help me Olivia he is my boyfriend"

"I knew it I knew you were dumb but insane? Hell no,listen to me Selena you will not accept the job offer nor give him any money,you already supported him with 10000 usd in the past, that's enough"

"Please stop it Olivia you are just hating on me and being jealous for no reason,it's my relationship not yours"

Her best friend widened her eyes in shock and laughed, "jealous for a guy that doesn't even give you the bare minimum I am sure he bought that ring for another girl"

"STOP IT! Olivia I can tolerate anything but not the fact that you accuse him of cheating"

"Really? Selena? Really? So you have lost your sanity for a guy that I am now sure doesn't even love you"

"If you have nothing else to say, I will leave the house for you"

"Selena be reasonable with me here,ever since we became roommates I have always had your best interest"

"You are just jealous and I am going to prove it to you that Jake loves me"

Chapter two

She picked up her laptop and stormed off to her room, locking the doors.She clicked on the job offer that had been sent to her last week,she had no reason why she applied in the first place.

She immediately sent an email to them, requesting if the job offer was still open, hoping to accept the position of a script writer.

Her dream had always been to be a lead actress but however fate had other plans,she hardly got any parts in any drama.

Waiting anxiously for their email,she saw another notification.

She clicked open on the email and her eyes widened in shock.

3000 USD per script,her eyes widened in shock. She had never seen so much money,she only got income by doing scrappy commercials that never earned her more than 500 USD.

But at what cost, hopefully she prayed to get a script inorder be able to give her boyfriend the money.

She sent an email to them accepting the offer,saying she would resume work by next Monday.

She didn't know if she just made the right decision or not but either way it was worth it since she was doing it for love.

"Selena open the door please, it's not reasonable to accept the job offer. Look I will give you the money to give Jake but don't throw yourself out there"she heard her best friend relentlessly bang her room door.

Selena was still angry at her but instead pushed her aside and went to open her room door for her.

"I already accepted the job offer,I am to resume by next week"

Olivia looked at her angrily and folded her arms, "what did we say about making decisions alone?"

"Olivia see, the pay is 3000 USD per script,if I could work so hard I could earn us both a decent lifestyle,I mean your photography and my scrappy commercials won't sustain us for life"

"And does that mean you throw your body for a man,who does that? If he truly loves you, do you think he would allow you to risk your life like that?"

"And where is the ring?"

"He might be saving it to propose when he can afford a decent lifestyle for us both"

Her best friend looked at her in awe, "really? Selena but you have been the one feeding him?"

Selena didn't reply to her,she stepped out of her room, shoving her aside, taking her car keys from the coach she turned her direction to outside the door.

"See the time Selena, where do you think you are going?"

"To ask Jake about the ring"

"Then take me with you!"

They both got inside her car and Selena drove off,she started the car engine but it refused to work,she remembered Olivia gave it to her as a birthday gift despite them being so poor,and her so called boyfriend forgot to wish her,she always came up with excuses for him despite her always finding something to give him on his birthday but it was fine as long as he loved her.

She parked in front of his house,he had entrusted her with the keys of his house and she unlocked it.

"Jake?"

Her and her best friend heard no response,maybe he was not at home,sighing frustrated she turned her back to leave but heard some loud sounds like panting and moans.

Chapter three

Selena stopped looking at the screen as she drove home,she didn't say a word to Olivia,she just stepped out of the car.

"Selena you are scaring me" her best friend chased after her but she didn't reply.

She tied her brunette hair into a ponytail and put on some eyeliner,her beautiful amber eyes shone. One could see the undeniable sadness in her eyes, applying little lipgloss to her lips and a bit of makeup to add it up.

"Where are you going Selena?"

"Dress up, are we going to the bar?"

"But why? Aren't you meant to be sad?"

Her jaw tightened,she inhaled through her pointed nose, "I am fine"

Her best friend knew very well that she was not fine.

"Don't let us go to the bar this late,why don't you lay in bed and sleep"

She didn't respond to her, instead took out a blue dress emphasizing her curves,and feminine features. Her dress was tight and always revealing her cleavage. She never dressed this indecently but tonight she was p*ss*d beyond reason. She wanted to cry strongly but held her emotions tightly.

She picked up not one alcohol but two bottles gulping them like there was no tomorrow.
