"Get up bitch" Sandra snarled yanking my hair arduously making me whin in pain.
Damn it! Who would ever perceived that getting into a fight with Sandra would put me in such a mess.
"Let go of me nitwit" I cussed, grunting in anguish.
"Guess you still haven't learned your lesson" Sandra growled "perhaps I need to pull harder" she seethed, yanking hard like her life depended on it.
I probably should had give it a second thought before barging in to save someone else knowing fully well I was no match with Sandra. My bad.
"Alright am sorry" I pleaded in gritting teeth, groaning in agony as sandra tugged my hair almost plucking it off my scalps.
"That's more like it" Sandra slurred pushing me to the wall.
"If you try playing hero next time" she used her hand to divide her neck "I will eradicate you" she threatened before catwalking away.
The school bell rang signifying time for lecture making the crowded students walk towards their classses.
"What a drag" I muttered out loud scratching the back of my head as I stood up from the floor.
"Thanks" lia the girl I tried to protect from Sandra said blashly.
"You are welcome" I let out a faux smile
"Your hair...."
"I know it's messy, thanks for reminding me anyway" I mumbled ambling toward the restroom.
My name is Clara Marian Klutz, an eighteen years old clumsy inelegant knockle head who frequently got bullied by the popular guys in school. Yeah, that is adequate way to characterize me.
I stared at my reflection for a while before switching on the faucet to rinse my face. It's been one heck of a morning.
"What the f**k are you doing here?" A thick harsh voice asked behind me and I twirled to see a tall muscular guy glaring hard at me. Don't tell me am in the male restroom.
"Hi spencer" I waved.
He rolled his eyes at me. "My name is Melvin!" He hushed, scowling arduously at me. "And what are you doing in the male washroom?"
"It was an accident" I groaned, wearing a cap. "Am living anyway" I waved with an eye roll.
"Clumsy fool" He mumbled walking into the toilet.
I get that alot, what do you expect in being a nobody in the whole school. I shove my hands inside the pocket of my hoodie as I walked into my classroom, and as expected, I was ignored like a wall flower whose existence was totally disregarded by everyone.
In my school everything is about money and dressing, if you don't wear the latest brand of clothes, expensive whist watch or drive an experience car, you just won't fit in. Everybody will always see you as trash.
"Clara" A familiar voice called and I turn to see Bethany, my bestie.
"Hi bethany" I mumbled with a sign, sitting beside her.
A pout formed in her perfect shaped lips as she cuddled around me. "Don't tell me you are still mad I read your diary" Her ocean blue eyes gazed hard at me, replenished with curiosity as she arranged her goggles, waiting for my reply. I ignored her and lied on my desk, my cheek on the cold wooden desk as I stared through the window.
"Am not mad, just sick and tired of being me" I uttered ruefully, after a jiffies of awkward silence.
"About time" she snickered lowly trying to stifle back a laugh.
"What do you mean by that!" I chimed in, glaring hard.
"Look" she gestured to my outfit. "You look like a clown" she tried to suppress her giggling, but ended up bursting into loud laughter.
"Haha, very funny" I managed to muster enough sarcasm.
"You look really bad on this oversized hoodie of yours, I must confess" she chuckled.
"If that's the case, then I need to look bad" I stated sternly. "You know I don't have a choice!" I mumbled. I wanted to sound rigid but my voice failed me.
"Sorry, but it's the truth," she shrugged. "Not like i blame you for having hypothyroidism," she added beneath her breath.
"Hmm.." I muttered.
She stared at me like she was trying to figure out something. "You know what, come to my place on Saturday"
"You mean tomorrow"
"Wait! tomorrow is Saturday?" She asked astounded.
"Yes!" I snapped and she sniggered.
"Am just being silly, I know tomorrow is Saturday" she waved her hands. "And I pla..."
"Plan to take you out" I mimicked flapping my hands and making a humorous gesture.
"Come on I don't sound like that" she rolled her eyes.
"You sure do to me" I smirked, sucking the lower part of my lips. Our conversation was interrupted by the loud bang coming from the wide table place in front of the class kept for lectures. Who else would make such racket, if not Mrs Wilberton our geometry teacher. That's her odd way of getting our attention.
Weird right?
~
"Chicken soup, is that not just your favorite!" Bethany said as we walk down the hallway. We just finished lectures and it was time for lunch break.
"Am a lover of all Bethany " I stated.
"You can say that again" she chuckled and I smiled, trailing behind her as we strode towards the cafeteria.
"But Clara, I just can't believe you haven't had a kiss before" She blurted.
" shss.." I hushed staring around hoping nobody heard.
"That's our little secret" I whispered.
"But..."
" Just shut up!" I groan, Bethany is just a pin, I still condemn the day she read my diary.
"Don't shss me! We have to do something about that!" She exclaimed loudly.
"Don't you understand simple English" I seethed. "Shut up!"
Luckily the hallway was empty so no need to be inconvenience about creating a scene.
"Sorry..." She mumbled.
We strolled into the cafeteria without uttering another word, which was quite uncomfortable. Bethany had always been a talkative, her staying quiet was just the contrary of her. I started feeling remorse as we ate quietly.
"Bethany" I called, and she tilted her head to stare at me.
"Sorry" I apologized, she let out a sign before letting a smile crept through her lip.
"Just promise me you will come to my place tomorrow" she said.
"Why not" I shrugged, scoffing few strings of noodles. She raised a brow, staring keenly at me.
"Yes"I emphasised and she giggled, her laughter had always been contentious so I joined in no time. It reminds me of my mum. She traveled for business trip few weeks ago, while Dad on the other hand has been away for more than a month, leaving just me and my baby brother at home. Well, mum hired a baby sitter to take care of my brother, since our charlady resigned few weeks ago.
"The noodles are Just too soft don't you think?" She asked using her fork to swirl the noodles in the soap.
"It is?" I asked with a muffled sound as I ate the noodles.
"You are just unbelievea..." Bethany was interrupted by the loud chattering that replenished the entire cafeteria and then a wild gasp followed. They is just one person that could create such scene.
Ethan James Smith.
My prince charming.
I watch as he sat down on a seat miles away from me, but that did not keep me from dribbling. Distance is not an obstacle when it comes to love.
"Clara!" Bethany said snapping her hands in front of me." Get hold of yourself!".
"Is he not just cute" I said grinning sheepishly.
"Yeah.. Everybody knows that" she mumbled with an eye roll.
"Way more than your boyfriend you know"
"At least I have one" she rasped.
"Who cares" I grumbled.
Ethan has this grey black curly hair and pink perfectly shaped lips that always swept me off my feet. And his physique, oh my...
"Alright that's enough" Bethany said hauling me back to the class.
"But my noodles" I protested
"I owe you a plate of noodles then" she muttered.
Yeah great.
~
Bethany gave me a ride home even though our route home differs, she always insisted on taking me home never wanting me to take the bus.
"Thanks Bethany" I said, coming down from the car.
"Just don't forget about tomorrow, it's going to be fun you know" she beamed.
"Yea, yeah" I growled, giving her a wave. She winked before taking off.
I opened the door to see dad watching TV with my baby brother Tony.
"My little angel is back" He said dropping down the tv remote.
"Dad!" I screamed, running to give him a hug. How much I had missed him. I hugged him tightly.
"You still smell good" He complimented making me giggle. " I got something for you" He whispered. "Follow me" He added walking quietly into his room and I tailed behind him.
"Where do you two think you are going?" I heard the dulcet voice of my mother. I froze.
"Mum" I called as I swiveled to face her, she wore a bold smile.
" Yes am talking to you" she said folding her hands across her bossom. She walked toward me and gave me a tight hug. " I missed you too" she said like she could read my psyche. I wrapped my arms around her as I broke down in tears.
Dinner was blissful, filled with laughter and chattering.
I missed it.
The aroma of mum cooks, the dulcet whiff of dads fragrance, and the frequent giggle of my baby brother. I enjoyed every bit of it and wished it would last forever.
"Good night pumpkin" My mum said kissing me on my forehead. I usually whine and complain anytime she insist on walking me to bed but right now, I crave for it.
She switched off the light and closed the door behind her.
"Good night mum" I mumbled.

A loud groan escaped my mouth at the loud sound of my alarm.
"Argh" I groan inaudible.
I stretched my hand towards the night stand and pressed the stop button. I closed my eyes trying to drift back to a peaceful slumber when i was disturbed yet again. I glared at the night stand to see my ringing phone, who else would call in such an early hour if not Bethany. I wanted to ignore but knowing how persistent she could be, I picked it up instead.
"Don't tell me I woke you up" she giggled.
"What do you want?" I groaned.
"Just wanted to remained you of our plan for today"
"You mean your plans?" I asked with an eye roll.
"Whatever" She hanged up.
I sat at the edge of my bed yawning heavily, I stared at the time.
"Few minutes to seven" I mumbled, i pulled back the curtain allowing the sun to reflect into the room making it bright and gleaming before stepping sluggishly into my bathroom. I stared at my greenish hazel eyes which constantly got complicated as I brushed my teeth. But still, I hardly find anything unique about it. I dried up my mouth with a napkin and walked out of the room to assist mum in the kitchen.
"Hi mum" I greeted giving her a peck on the cheek.
"How was your night?" She asked.
"Fine, what are we having for breakfast?"
"Scrambled egg and tea"
"Tasty" I hummed taking a bite of the egg.
"Stop that!" She slapped my hands." And go set the table" she instructed counterfeiting a frown.
"I will do just that" I kissed her again, and she giggled.
Dad came down stairs with his hair plastered down by a night against the pillow. He sleeps on his left side mostly, he had creases on the left side of his face, and the hair on that side of his head was the most out of other. He blessed the food and started to eat his meal impatiently.
"Are you not going to wait for your kids?" mum teased.
"I'm late for work" He mumbled through a mouthful of egg. " That reminds me" He took a slug of his tea. "I bought a present for you Clara, you will love it". He said finally, shoveling another bite of egg into his mouth.
"Really?" I asked sitting beside him. He nodded as he took another bite.
"Hope it's not that hideous sweatpants" Mum scoffed, joining us in the table after placing chocolate chips pancake and syrup for Tony. He had always been picky.
"Don't you like sweatpants?" Dad asked.
"As long as it's not pink" I shrugged.
"Ha ha.. See I won" Dad said with a grin making nutty expressions, and mum couldn't help it but chuckle.
Time flew fast and before I could blink an eye it was already noon. I wore the greyish sweatpant dad bought for me and a green Mickey Mouse sweater I got from a bontique few weeks ago. It gave me the warmth I had hoped for, with a cap on my head and a snickers in my feet. I took my pills and rode my shake board down the road and swirled into Bethany's neighborhood. It was as quiet as a graveyard.
Creepy.
I pressed the door bell and waited patiently for an answer. Most times Mrs Cranston, Bethany's mum was the one that gets the door when ever I came, while sometimes it was her elder brother Jason. But surprisingly Bethany answered the door.
"You made it" she beamed, dragging me in like I had a choice.
"Hey take it easy" I whined as she pulled me inside her room.
"What now?" I asked.
"You change into something else" she answered with a smirk.
"Stop being sarcastic" I said with an eye roll.
"Do you expect me to take you with me to an amusement park dressed like this" she gestured. "I already picked up something for you" she said going through her wardrobe.
Wait... We are going to an amusement park?
I sat down on a chair beside her bed as she search through her closet for the dress she picked for me. Not in a million years would I ever believe Bethany planned on taking me to an amusement park.
She is just unpredictable.
"Found it" she beamed, placing a red silky grown on the bed. " what do you think?"
I stared at it for a while, before mouthing. " Hell No" and with that returned my gaze back to my phone.
"Don't you want to do something for fun?" She asked.
"Like what?" I asked while scrolling through my phone, only looking up at her when she did not reply me. She just stared at me smiling.
"Do you trust me?" She asked.
Now the truth is, not exactly. I trust her with regular things like life dilemma, things that makes me nauseous, things i don't tell anyone else. I mean I have known her for ages and I consider her my best friend. I presume some people would call her "Fun" simply because she takes risk, not that there is anything wrong with that. It's just that, I'm not a risk taker.
I'm basic.
I stay out of trouble; in another word, I'm boring. So I suppose it would be nice to do something fun.
"Okay, fine. Where are we going?" I asked.
She pulled off my cap, stickerd her hands in my already messy brown hair and messes it up even more.
"So you mean you don't trust me?" She asked with a scowl.
I looked away, I didn't say that i trust her again, because I only trust her with regulart stuff, not just stuff that i could get in trouble for.
I stood up from the comfort of my chair and shoved my phone into my pocket waiting for her to give me instructions of what to do and where to go. She grinned with satisfaction.
"Put this on," she said stretching the red dress towards me. I sighed as I took the red short gown from her. "It's beautiful but I can't wear it Bethany, you know i have..." She handed me a jacket before I could finish and raised a brow.
"It's still won't be warm enough,"
"Give it a try Clara, you can apply my lotion if you want!"
"Bethany..."
"Truth me," She did the puppy eyes.
I rolled my eyes. "You know that doesn't work for me."
"It's worth a shot," she pointed at me with an eye close, grinning sheepishly. I shook my head and walked into her dressing room to get changed. She never seize to amaze me.
"Oh my gosh! You look gorgeous!" She beamed.
"I think it's kind of tight especially the upper region."
"Am so jealous.." She groaned, her hands cupping her boobs. "So this is what you had hidden in that oversized hoodie, heartbreaking."
"I don't feel comfortable."
"You don't have to."
"What do you mean?" I asked looking puzzled.
"Being a woman is more challenging than you can ever imagine, being beautiful, elegant and well groomed is the top priority, being comfortable comes last"
"Look who is talking." She tug her tongue at me, l rolled my eyes.
"Come on miss Klutz you don't want to be late." She grinned.
~
The drive to the amusement park was exhausting and Bethany ranted on how fun it would be. To be honest, I wasn't listening because heaven knows she could go on forever. I only replied " hmm" and " really" not to get her suspicious.
I pulled my phone from the the jacket I wore and logged into my social media account to stalk on Ethan. Yeah yeah, sign me up for a freak.
"What are you doing?" Bethany asked, trying to steal a peek, but I hid my phone behind me.
"Just focus on the road" I blurted, she rolled her eyes. I snickered, pulled out the phone from my behind and to my horror I had accidentally liked a post from a year ago.
"F**k!" I cussed.
The smell of carnival food drifted through the air as I came down from the car. I stood watching the crazy ride where most scream and laughter came from, the people seemed so small inside the giant ride that flung them this way and that.
It reminded me of my first ride experience which was a ferri wheel at a local fair. Looking at that hovering atrociousness whirling the life out it's sardine boxed in occupant, I was dumbstruck. It was enormous, smoky, noisy and not a little intimidating. Ever since that preliminary expression became fossilized in my imagination the ride reminded me of creatures, amazing dinosaurs carrying off their screaming passengers like sarcrificial virgins. Even the droning noise of their engines brings to mind the tremendous roar of a fire breathing dragon with smoke spewing from it's nostrils.
"Do you want a ride?" Bethany asked, looking genuinely curious. Probably because of how keenly I stared at the ride.
"Just tell me why we are here" I lamented.
"Just chill" she said and rolled her eyes at me. "We are here to have fun remember" Her hands forged their way round my neck.
"So Clara..." She began. I knew this tone of voice, it's dangerous. "What do you say about getting your first kiss" she whispered, I turned to stare at her.
"What do you mean?" I asked perplexed by her statement.
"I have a plans for you" she grinned sheepishly and tried walking away but I pulled her back roughly.
"Clara!" She whined trying to free her hands.
"What plans do you have?" I asked curtly, Staring gravely at her.
"Just let go of me Clara" She cried.
"What plans is it?" I asked again as she drew out her hands from my grasps.
"You are pretty strong for a girl you know" she signed rubbing the already aching hands. "Phew!"
"Bethany!" I rasped.
"Keep it down Clara, I only planned on making you participate in a kissing booth that's all!" She glowled.
"Oh really?"
"Hmm...kind of" she answered cautiously.
"Bethany" I called
"Alright, I signed you up" She confessed.
