The vast living room may be accessed by a large doorway that resembles an archway, which is located in the entrance hall. David waited there, his back pressed against the chilly wall behind him. He stood there and waited.
All of the rooms that around him were silent.
Chloe was being cared after by Bryce and Remy, who were sleeping in a spare bedroom located on the second floor.
Seven exhausted boys were seen sitting and standing in the living room, which was located downstairs. There was no one who had slept. No one was making any talk. The air was beginning to smell tired.
Jarren stood opposite David in the room. Not only for Chloe, but for everyone else there as well, he appeared to be anxious. Jarren's attention was fixed on the younger child, while David's gaze could be seen hovering somewhere above the oldest child.
The youngster was examined by him. "You didn't sleep since I left, did you?"
"Is it obvious?"
In an attempt to find the appropriate words, he paused for a bit before saying, "You look pretty..." "dead."
David let out a chuckle, perhaps more amused by the fact that he talked in such a playful manner when no one else had the courage to speak at all. Leaning his head on the wall behind him, he lowered his head.
"You really know how to build people up, huh?"
Despite the fact that Jarren shrugged as if it were no great thing, his gesture, posture, and facial expression were all oozing with sarcasm. The moment he saw Hudson, his gaze immediately shifted to his.
Jarren drew attention to the fact that there was blood on his shirt.
David made a humming sound, gave it a cursory examination, and then went away. "It's not his."
The intention was for it to sound reassuring, but it didn't even come close. David let out a long, deep sigh; the air that filled his lungs felt heavy, uncomfortable, uncomfortable, and empty.
Jarren continued, "I figured," and then he allowed his words to drift out into the quiet chamber, where they quickly faded down because of the silence.
There was, however, a barely audible sound of footsteps that could be heard emanating from within that state of serenity, silence, and wordless strain. Everyone looked to the entryway, as Bryce and Remy quickly entered the living room after passing David and Jarren. This caused everyone to stare at the entrance.
While he was looking at the boys for a moment, Bryce ran his fingers through his hair and momentarily considered them. He was aware of the concern and experienced the weight of it.
"You guys look like someone died," Bryce remarked with a gloomy expression on his face. After that, he let out a sigh, his expression becoming more relaxed. "She will be fine."
A little moment of silence, followed by a deep breath taken, here and there. Although the fear did not completely go, it was less noticeable in comparison to the relief that they experienced.
There is no question that she ought to take a little break. "Obviously," she said. She is suffering from a concussion and has lost a significant amount of blood. Some little bumps and bruises here and there," Bryce said. "If she takes it slow, she'll be better soon though."
The atmosphere in the room was filled with unyielding nodding and a few hums of acknowledgment. Then, for some reason, it continued to be silent.
Although they were relieved, the lads were nonetheless upset about what had occurred. Even though it wasn't their fault, it seemed as though it was their fault.
Bryce was able to comprehend the atmosphere in the room with only a single glance. It was clear to him what the lads were trying to convey with their expressions. With a serious expression on his face, he pressed his tongue against the inside of his cheek and then let out an exaggerated sigh.
"I have to admit though," Bryce stated with a little of amusement. As for the rest of you idiots, she is a good fit for the group. The idiots"
"Whom are you calling an idiot?" Quickly, AA's scratchy voice delivered a response. Following that, there was a sound of footfall that were quite quiet and made their way down the stairs rather slowly.
While Chloe gripped to the railing, her eyes narrowed slightly in response to the relatively harsh light that was present inside the chamber. Her head was in constant pain, and she observed that her legs were weak and shaky.
In addition, the skin is still very pale. Bryce let out a huff as soon as he spotted her. "What about me telling you to stay in bed?"
"You were practically talking behind my back; how could I not come?"
The physician wore a frown. When asked, "That is your defense?" defense? Chloe gave a slight nod. "You can go right back to bed then."
After taking one more step, she came to a stop next to David, who was standing with his eyes wide open in shock at her abrupt arrival. Without making physical contact with her, he extended his hand and let it to hover behind her back.
On the off chance.
"I don't want to be all alone upstairs."
Even though he rolled his eyes, Bryce refrained from engaging in a debate with her. He took another glance at her before simply shrugging his shoulders.
"How are you?" As Hudson coaxed her to come closer, he moved closer and closer until he was almost standing in front of her. Not only did Jonas stand up, but he also moved closer to her. All of the others observed in silence. While all was going on, Jarren and Bryce looked at each other.
"Alright," was her next response. "Sorry for causing trouble, by the way."
With a swift motion, Hudson shook his head. "It wasn't your fault."
This caused her to laugh in an embarrassing manner. "Well, a little maybe?" Nevertheless, it was just confusing to the boys. "You see, I don't react well when people are rude to me for no reason."
David gave a slight nod. "We know."
Next, Chloe threw him a quick glance before moving on with her conversation. "So I might have provoked her a little in my irritation."
Mateo wore a frown. "What do you mean by 'a little'?"
The person who responded to that, however, was not Chloe but rather Bryce. He then imitated the situation by clearing his throat, placing his hand on his heart, and then saying, "Choke me harder," in a voice that was artificially high-pitched and sounded fairly furious. "Is it the only thing you have? Come on, make an impression on me.
During this time, Chloe found herself listening to Bryce's imaginative interpretation of her while her head was lowered and her eyes were fixed on the ground below her. She closed her eyes tightly and squinted her eyes in an effort to hide the faint shame that was creeping up her cheeks.
David did not have the courage to take his gaze off of the girl, in contrast to Hudson, who was intent on Bryce. The rapid movement caused her to take a very small step backwards, and her back came into contact with David's arm, which was still floating there.
Despite the fact that it appeared to be off, she moved her weight slightly from leg to leg. She gently massaged her temple by pressing the ball of her hand against it and massaging it in a relaxing manner. She took short breaths whenever she breathed. It was difficult for him to make out her eyes, although they appeared to be unfocused.
Unable to concentrate. A rollback was performed till they went up.
David immediately said, "Chloe," and then went forward in his hurry. Instantaneously, he wrapped his arm around her waist, and with the hand that was in his possession, he firmly grasped her arm. While she was being held up by him, her weight pressed against him. He kept her up until she could do it herself.
The others remained motionless as they watched, their eyes widening in surprise.
"Chloe," Hudson informed her. As soon as she did not glance up after a brief moment, he appeared to be a little bit scared. Despite this, she hummed in order to demonstrate that she was present.
She merely required a moment's rest.
"I'm fine," she whispered in a low voice.
David's hand was still firmly pressed on her waist as she reached for it. She reached down to her waist. The young man relaxed his hold on her, thinking that she was trying to get him to let go. However, she instead wrapped her fingers around his hand and gripped onto it.
It's all nice," she continued.
After then, Bryce was the first person to stop being concerned about the situation. He glared at her in a condescending manner.
"See, I told you that you should've stayed in bed."
"Got it, doc," Chloe said in a hurried manner, her voice remaining low. She made a slight turn to face David, who continued to keep his gaze fixed on her. "Thanks." He gave her a warm and warm smile.
When there was a loud rumble that spread across the room, the gravity of the situation was immediately brought to a halt. As everyone turned their attention away from the girl, he hurried over to Jace, who appeared to be in a state of embarrassment.
He smiled in an odd form. He started to say, "We didn't have breakfast," but he stopped himself when he noticed that others were looking at him in an odd way. He brought his hands all the way down to his hips. "It is not necessary for you to consume food; you would not comprehend this. Only the three of us are aware of this.
With a gentle pout, Jace gazed at Chloe, which caused her to giggle out loud. A meaningful nod was given by her.
"Food sounds good," she concurred by saying. "I didn't eat since Friday anyway."
"You," Bryce said, about to nag, but Chloe interrupted him and stopped him.
Her interruption was, "I was occupied," she said.
Chloe ended up exerting a greater amount of force on David's hand, despite the fact that Mateo, Jace, and Easton were already making their way towards the kitchen. The fact that she pulled it from her waist did not prevent her from holding on to it. Instead, she began going towards the kitchen while drawing the grim reaper, who appeared to be in a state of confusion, along with her.
He gave her a friendly smile. It could be described as kind, friendly, and reassuring. Chloe was not quite persuaded by it, but having said that, it was still helpful.
As a result, she set her fork down and allowed her gaze to circulate among the others who were seated at the breakfast table. Despite the fact that not even half of them were eating the food, everyone appeared satisfied and joyful, and they were engaged in a conversation that was completely humorous.
It had a pleasant sensation.
In spite of the fact that Chloe had anticipated that Bryce and Remy would be more distant toward everyone, it appeared as though they were all like a much larger family.
Moreover, Chloe was sitting in the middle of them, which was a complete coincidence.
"I still owe you an explanation," she replied, gazing at Easton, who had been the one who talked to her about it in the first place. The older one did not avoid her sight. His eyes had a look of interest.
Chloe had a fleeting sight of Bryce and Remy, two males whom she had previously only a passing familiarity with. They were on the verge of being considered strangers, yet for some reason, they didn't truly feel that way. Perhaps it was due to the fact that they felt so at ease in the company of the other people. Perhaps it was because of the things that they had done for her.
The three of them, Easton, Jace, and Mateo, were at her back. She hesitated for a while before pulling her lips between her teeth and pulling them back.
After that, she announced, "I'll make this quick," and everybody nodded in agreement. "I'm half grim reaper."
A surprised expression appeared on Jace's face as he put down his spoon. He inhaled deeply as he prepared to utter a word. Chloe concealed her hands under the table as she became increasingly anxious about the reasons he was thinking about it.
Was there something that was not good?
On the other hand, he instantly broke into a smile. "That is so cool," he said to himself. "So that's how you kept up with Chris then?"
A blank expression appeared on the girl's face as she looked at him. The response and question that he asked came as a surprise to me. Is that really what he was interested in finding out?
After a moment of hesitation, Chloe gave a mute nod, and Jace turned his attention to Easton and gave him a nod of endorsement. After that, Mateo let out a sigh.
He exhaled. "Man," he said. "And I wanted to figure it out before David."
Jonas wore a frown. Is it true that I am? Before you did, I had already worked it out.
Mateo gave a dismissive sweep of his hand while nodding his head. "Next to Hudson, you are closest to her," he made the observation. "I'm actually disappointed it took you this long."
"Excuse me?" Infuriated, Jonas let out a gasp.
"Well." Matieo gave a shrug. "Just saying."
In spite of the fact that her companions were arguing with one other, Chloe quickly switched her attention to David, who was quietly observing her. It appeared like Bryce and Remy were a little more astonished than the other people, so he turned his attention to them.
David started off by saying, "I'm sure you noticed," bearing a serious expression on his face. The kind smile that he had been wearing previously was very different from this one. Not only was it more stringent, but it was also not any less friendly. However, Chloe is not the fearsome and vindictive individual that everyone was talking about. My expectation is that you will not treat her in such a manner.
While Bryce sat there with his arms folded in front of his chest, Remy sat there bewildered looking at him.
David, Chloe, and then back to the boy were the subjects of his gaze as he grimaced.
"You are really trying to tell me that this idiot is the mastermind everyone keeps talking about?" he remarked in an unexpected manner.
The young lady let out a gasp. "Hey!"
In order to prevent her from doing so, Bryce just shook his head and raised a single finger. He cautioned her, "Don't try to argue with me on that one," while pointing with his finger at her neck. "it red Giovanni over there-it was due to the fact that you responded spontaneously. Much like an idiot."
Chloe wore a frown. She posed the question, "What is the problem with being impulsive for?" "That means I react quickly."
"Quick but brainless," Bryce retorted on the other hand.
"Are you really arguing with a kid?" Jarren entered the scene. He smiled, pleased by the doctor's response and the fact that they were comfortable enough to debate in such a manner. "Just let it slide this time."
That is exactly what he did. Bryce flexed his shoulders, lifted his eyebrows, and shrugged his shoulders. It allowed the room to calm down, and it also provided Remy with the opportunity to engage in excessive thought.
He then turned around to face the girl and apologized. "I'm sorry," he said. As a result of what I stated throughout the meeting at that instance. His voice trailed off as he said, "I didn't know; it wasn't nice."
David made a humming sound. "Yeah, kinda rude."
"Oh, please be quiet," Chloe said in response. mostly due to the fact that she was aware of how badly Remy was feeling, because she believed that bringing it up once more would be pointless, and partly because she did not feel like talking about it. She simply looked at David with a warning expression on her face. "He said he didn't mean to."
Although David rolled his eyes and pouted slightly, he continued to glance at the girl who had switched her attention back to Remy. His anticipation was piqued as he waited to hear what she had to say. In all honesty, he anticipated that she would lie. She ended up having a breakdown on the rooftop of the university, which was something he did not anticipate her to confess on the spot that she was feeling that terrible.
In the end, David was proven to be correct. Because Chloe simply smiled in a charming manner, a grin that he enjoyed but which, sadly, was not intended toward him.
"In all honesty, it's not a big deal," Chloe reassured. "I understand; you were unaware of it. It doesn't really bother me." After that, she turned her gaze to David in order to observe his response.
There was a slight smile and a slight nod. That she was grateful for, she said.
"By the way," Hudson made a sudden entrance into the room. "Are we going to simply decide to let Yasmine go? It is impossible to say what she might have done if we hadn't arrived in time on time.
Chloe added, "About that," as she leaned a little closer to David and brought her elbows to rest on the table. David got immediately intrigued in what she was about to say and began to follow her every move. "Friday night, Yasmine and I had a little... heart-to-heart."
David wore a frown. "There's not much heart inside that girl."
Chloe raised her eyebrows in a manner that was almost judgmental. "Well, it's enough to make her talk about you for a solid hour." Being perplexed, David moved closer to her and leaned in closer. She appeared to be aggravated.
During this time, Jace was frantically swallowing the food that he had been chewing on in a sluggish manner just a moment previously. He shook his head as he looked at David, who appeared to be looking quite unsurprised.
