Chapter 1 Mate

~ The blue moon pack ~

The chauffeur opened the door of the car for Ariel who was sitting comfortably at the back. She stepped down and walked to the mansion with her head held high. It has been five good years since she had left the blue moon pack to further her education and learn different cultures. Some omegas in the corridor offered her a bow which she nodded to.

Ariel reached the living room and was received by a modest welcome from her family.

Her parents, Alpha Damon and Luna Irene were situated in the living room waiting for their daughter. She was the only child of her parents and she was going to be the next female alpha hopefully alongside her future mate

Alpha Damon gave Ariel a tight hug which she had barely expected. He held her shoulders observing her face. An approving smile crept on his face.

It wasn't common for her to receive a hug plus an additional smile from her father. He was a strict man with absolute exacting rules. She gave him a little smile.

"Welcome Ariel. I have things to do but I will leave you to your mother, ok."

"Ok Alpha" Ariel said and gave him a little bow as the Alpha strode out of their presence.

"Ariel, go in and have your shower. You must be hungry too, your food will be served when you're done. Also there will be a party to welcome you in the evening. We know you are tired from your trip but these are all formalities...."

"Mother it's okay, it's fine" Ariel was tired of the ceaseless babble from her mother. She was well aware of the never ending schedules. One of the many things she hadn't missed about the pack.

"Uhm I would be going to shower, can you please tell the maid to send the food upstairs??"

"Okay I will. Don't forget about the party. I will call you when the time clocks eight sharp, please be ready."

Ariel responded with a tight smile and went to her room.

Everything was how she left it. The room was dominated by blinding colors of blue which was her favorite color. A queen-size bed was placed with a side cabinet. They were additional furniture that matched with the blue color of the room, two doors led to an extra large walk-in closet with a bathroom. The room was befitting for someone like her "An Alpha's daughter".

She had many thoughts in her mind. One was how her freedom was going to be minimized in the blue moon pack. Being the daughter of one of the richest Alpha in America she was subjected to a lot of luxuries and she had many people to suck up to her because of her status but this lifestyle was quite overbearing. She was used to her freedom but here she needs to behave ladylike as the daughter of the Alpha.

She sighed, if she had the opportunity she would have preferred to just stay over there but she knew that was close to impossible.

After taking her shower, as requested, her food was waiting for her on the table close to her sofa. An egg salad lettuce wrap with a steaming cup of tea.

She munched on the wrap and replayed her current situation in her head non-stop.

Ariel's welcome party started at nine pm.

She had dressed in a way that was fashionable but simple. It was necessary for her to stand out. The Luna had sent for her through the mind link which she had totally forgotten about. She took a deep breath and strode towards the corridor, she was already fifteen minutes late.

Melodious sounds could be heard coming from the huge hall. It was clear evidence of Ariel's welcome party.

She had faint memories of the people around, for it was far too long she had seen them.

Just as she imagined the hall screamed of magnificence and elegance. Ladies in beautiful gowns adorned with shiny jewels. Somehow she looked more simple compared to the guests.

The people around noticed her presence and Ariel could feel the gazes fixated on her, that oddly felt a bit uncomfortable.

An acknowledging announcement was made to make her presence known as she strode close to where

her both parents were seated.

As the next Alpha, different people came up to her to introduce themselves. She had a fake tight smile plastered on her face as she tried to be formal. She wished she had someone who could stick up for her and shoo all this people away.

The mood in the party wasn't bad. It was something enjoyable for normal guests if they weren't the center of attention like Ariel.

She was tired of the incessant formalities, they all contributed massively to bore her. It was up to an hour and all she did was shook hands with unknown people and her parents introducing the more important ones to her. She wondered how her parents coped with such.

Ariel placed her hands on her chin, she was tired and was obviously jet-lagged, she wished she could just excuse herself and go catch some sleep.

Ariel was wallowing in her sorrows, when she inhaled an intoxicating scent lingering in the air. The scent stirred her wolf, she could feel its anxiousness. The scent was a bit faint and she had a strange urge to trace it. After inhaling a deep breath channeling all her senses on the scent. After guessing the direction of the sweet smell, she stood up ready to follow it. She was over ecstatic by the need to follow the intriguing scent.

"Where are you going?" Her father asked when he saw Ariel had stood up

"I will be back, I- I uhm need to use the restroom". She stuttered a white harmless lie.

She walked out of the hall stepping outside. The scent became stronger with every step she took. As there was a party going on, the outside of the hall was almost empty, with few people loitering outside, mostly the omegas or guards.

She made a few turns here and there and then she finally saw it, the source of the overwhelming scent. It was a man, who seems to be walking in her direction

Ariel mint green eyes locked with mesmerizing blue eyes. Her body momentarily came to a halt, her eyes focused on every inch of the man. It felt like nothing else mattered anymore other than the man.

She was walking with her whole attention focused on him, that she didn't notice she was too close and about to bump on him. Their bodies collided with each other and she felt a tingling spark all over her body at their connection. It was a foreign feeling to her and it made her wolf stir in joy.

"Mate," Ariel had her wolf say, it voiced laced with utmost excitement.

Chapter 2 Mere warrior

Ariel marveled at how handsome he was under the moonlight. He had a magnificent physique

They had no need to speak as their gazes on each other with the evident broad smile on their faces said it all.

Zeres observed his mate with admiration. He was happy at the same time he wanted to badly curse the moon goddess for having to pair him with the Alpha's daughter, his enemy. It wasn't now he was almost.. almost close to fulfilling his goals. At the thought of letting her go, his wolf whimpered. He wanted to ruffle his hair in frustration.

Ariel felt an unexplainable urge to kiss his delicate full lips. She controlled the urge, even though he was her mate she wouldn't want to look cheap in front of him.

"You are the Alpha's daughter, sorry to bump into you." Zeres apologized with a lowered head, it was better to act indifferent to the brewing mate pull. This was the right time to cut all ties even before their relationship intensified.

Ariel was a bit dumbfounded at the sudden change in character by her mate. It irked her to no extent. She was sure he felt that pull and tingling spark just a moment ago. Why was he acting so indifferent??. She wondered if the moon goddess paired her with a bipolar Werewolf.

"You can call me Ariel, I don't mind. After all you must be..." She paused and ran her eyes over him to determine his caliber. By the broad shoulders he had, he could pass for a very powerful Werewolf, she could feel an almost intense aura oozing from him.

"You must be very powerful," she concluded with a smile. Zeres let out a chuckle.

"Yes I'm a bit powerful....

"I knew you were, anyways the party started a long time ago, why are you here??". Ariel cut Zeres shut at least she was happy her mate was someone she could introduce to her father.

"Because the mere warriors aren't allowed in the party"

"What does that have to do with you being in the party??"she questioned. She was confused as to why he was bothered about the warriors not being allowed at the party.

"Because I am a warrior too, milady"

Warrior??. He was a common warrior. Is the moon goddess playing jokes with her??. She was the Alpha's daughter and the future female Alpha of this pack. She couldn't believe she was mated to a common warrior. Her father would never agree to this

Ariel inhaled, her chest heavy and she took a step backwards, it will be better to stop this madness right now.

"I, Ariel the daughter of Alpha of the blue moon pack, reject you, with the moon light as my witness" . Ariel said with intense difficulty.

Her heart ached and her wolf protested. An unhidden anguish appeared on Zeres face. He didn't expect rejection to be this painful.

"Do something boy" his wolf said a complete sentence with a growl. Zeres wanted to be shocked but the pain in his heart was too intense. It was unheard for a wolf to make a statement. They only spoke when it's to alert the presence of a mate.

Ariel forced herself to move, she didn't even wait to know if her mate whom she didn't even get his name accepted her rejection.

The party was almost over and she didn't even want to go back there because she looked miserable right now. She wouldn't want the guests to see her in this state.

She headed back to her room. Her wolf retracted at the back of her mind. She could feel it sulking and that only added to her misery.

Zeres was aware of the inability for them to be together, but he couldn't believe that rejection was far worse. He hissed in pain and ruffled his neat hair, he had wanted to deny her but.. but he couldn't believe she did it first.

He had expected for her to be the one to succumb to him and fight for her soulmate but she rejected him because he was a "warrior". He could feel his anger intensifying as he thought of it.

He also wanted to have nothing to do with his enemies daughter but he was having two thoughts about it but she... She rebuffed him at the mention of him being a warrior.

He wondered what he had expected from Alpha Daniel Fenlon's descendant. The blue moon pack was founded by power thirsty people and they all wanted people who could increase their opulence.

He was disgusted by the moon goddess' choice of a mate for him.

Zeres stood in the dark at the position Ariel left him reeling in his anger. His wolf was fighting for the urge to take over. It wanted to be left free and move its paws on the ground to calm his anger. He howled, his clothes tore into a streak of pieces and his eyes turned into blood shot red, a stark contrast to his normal blue eye color as he shifted into his white wolf form.

Ariel laid on the bed, her eyes puffy as a result of tears she had shed. Ariel didn't rebuff her mate on a caprice. She was smart and knew perfectly well the consequences of accepting him. It could result In his death and she wouldn't want to be the cause of her mates' loss of life.

Alpha Damon was someone who saw Ariel as a means of increasing their position as the number one in the power ladder. He was obsessed with affluence, it was something she saw evidently in her father. She knew how irrational it was to scrap the mate pull but it was better now than never.

She hoped the mysterious warrior who is her mate could just forget he had ever met her.

She sighed for the umpteenth time since the day began. So many things happened just in one day of her coming back. The day was such a roller coaster of events and lots of emotions haywire everywhere for her. She hoped that by the time she woke up the next morning she would have forgotten about the sweet vanilla scented creature with a gorgeous face and body she had met today and her life would return back to normal.

Chapter 3 Zeres

Ariel sat in the dining room after finishing her breakfast. Her father had ordered her to remain behind because he wanted to speak to her, numerous thoughts flash through her mind which she shook off as it felt near to impossible.

'Maybe he found out about her rejecting her mate or ...'

Her mind was running different thoughts and different assumptions, her father never asks to see someone like this, unless it was something close to business.

"Ariel, have you found your mate??" Her father asked when they were the only ones left behind. Ariel could feel her hands turn sweaty. Why was her father questioning her if she had found her mate all of a sudden.

"N- No Alpha, I haven't" she stuttered, her father gave her a doubting look before nodding his head.

"Good Good".

She wondered if that was the question that needed to be spoken in private.

She had an inkling idea of why her father was asking. She knew all this was bound to happen but she never knew it would occur this fast.

Her mind drifted to her mate whom she rejected. She shook her head inwardly hoping that whatever her father's reason for asking her about finding her mate would be a good thing and maybe, just maybe it could get her thoughts from her mate. Her wolf felt so weak that she could barely feel it.

"You will be meeting with someone tomorrow, he is very important, so be on your utmost best behavior, okay??"

She nodded, her mind was in a total mess and she didn't have the strength to even speak much. Everything felt draining to her.

Her father stood up ready to leave, She gave him a slight bow as he majestically stride out of her presence.

***

Zeres woke up feeling a bit sore on his neck. His wolf was a bit weak and though he had the power of an Alpha it didn't stop the pain of rejection.

The blue moon pack had many loopholes and it was built to this power level with the help of pure deceit. He knew all this and it pained him that he couldn't do anything to expose them yet.

For years, Zeres had been through so much on the training ground to get to this position he is, and now that he was only a few steps to his goal. Ariel arrived flicking his world upside down.

His mind drifted to his childhood which he spent with thousands of children like him. They were all strangers who were put together in one common place, studying and training to become warriors of the blue moon pack.

For children the training was a bit more taxing even for someone like Zeres who had the strength of an Alpha, and it took a lot of power and might to conquer all the tests.

The desire for revenge fueled him to work harder and longer than everyone else, and his Alpha genes helped him to come close to the top.

As his wolf started stirring, he learned to subdue his aura and not disclose that he is an Alpha. He showed just enough for everyone to know that he was strong, but not too strong because he didn't want Alpha Damon to see him as a threat.

It was late in the afternoon when a knock on the door got Ariel's attention.

"Come in" Ariel said and the door creaked open. A blonde lady majestically walked in, she looked to be familiar but she just couldn't place her head on where they had met.

"Hello"the blonde unknown lady said with a smile which seemed a little too creepy for Ariel. She patiently waited for the girl to speak as she didn't want to be the one to speak first.

"Incase you don't remember me, I'm Hailey, the game's daughter. We met yesterday at the party" the girl introduced herself. Ariel met a lot of people at the party that she couldn't even pinpoint meeting the girl named Hailey. From the look of things Hailey looked to be of her age and she wouldn't mind a new company to keep her from being bored.

"The Luna wanted me to ask if you need anything"

"No I don't, but you can come in, if you are less busy". Ariel replied and offered her a polite smile which was the best her messy mind could come up with.

"Sure". Hailey said cheerfully and slumped on the bed beside Ariel. Ariel was a great judge of character and from the look of things, Hailey was someone who was free spirited and they could be tight friends in the future. Hopefully she wouldn't be a bore in her life. At this point, she needed only someone who could lighten up her mood and take her mind from the thought of her mate.

Ariel and her new found acquaintances sat on the bed discussing random topics. Though her company did lighten up Ariel's mood, the thought of her mate was still lingering at the back of her mind.

"Do you know who you're going to be meeting tomorrow?". Hailey asked a question which peeked at Ariel's interests.

"N-No"

"You are going to be meeting with Alpha Xander" Hailey said , her eyes shining sparkly dreamily.

"Who's that??, I have never heard of him."

"What!!!!. How come you haven't heard of him. He's like the most handsome Werewolf that had ever walk this Earth"

"Quit being dramatic, how can an old man make your eyes sparkle that way". She rolled her eyes and wondered why Hailey was being so dramatic about some old Alpha.

"Old??See sweetheart he's like that....

Ariel gave a look to Hailey, she didn't know why she suddenly just paused. She flicked her hands in front of the girl who just happened to space out.

"Back to earth Hailey"

"Sorry, it was the mind link. They were an attack of rogues and they're some casualties of warriors that needed to be attended to". She let out a nervous laugh

"I need to go, will meet you up tomorrow right??"

Hailey had studied medicine and she worked part time in the packs hospital to gain experience. As the gamma's daughter she only worked when they were in need of extra helping hands.

"Can I come with you.. please". She requested. She didn't know why but she was damn worried when she heard the warriors were injured. Her mind had drifted to her mate whom she had rebuffed, though she had rejected him, there were still some remnants of the mate pull. She needed to ensure that he was fine. She knew all this thought was foolish for someone whom she left dejected after just meeting but the heart does what it wants.

"You don't have to plead, after all this is your pack "

"Thanks, can we go now".

They both arrived at the hospital in less than twenty minutes. The hospital was located close to the edge of the pack's border.

Ariel's eyes rummage through all the corners of the hospital in search of the one person that brought her here.

"Doctor Hailey". Someone called from behind them, a familiar eloquent voice which had stuck to Ariel's brain. Both the ladies turned towards the direction of the voice

"Commander Zeres" . Hailey greeted with a polite smile, Ariel breathed a sigh of relief to see him fine, and did they just refer to her mate as Commander Zeres.

Ariel couldn't snap out of her daze that was muddled by the excitement of her wolf. Ariel didn't feel her wolf in some time, yet now she was coming back.

"Commander Zeres, this is the Alpha's daughter, Ariel. I am sure you would have known about her arrival." Hailey introduced the man who Ariel couldn't stop gaping at.

"Zeres is undefeated among commanders, he is one of the Alpha most trusted person"

Ariel nodded absent mindedly, she had thought that he was just some mere warrior, never did it cross her mind that he was a commander, an undefeated one at that. She couldn't just take her eyes off him, he was the real definition of a Greek god with an amazing scent which she wouldn't mind taking a bite from.

Zeres barely spared her a glance as he focused all his attention on Hailey who kept talking non-stop on things she barely heard.

Finding out that people might mistake her actions of not greeting him as being rude, she outstretched her hand, plastering a smile on her face.

"I am Ariel. It's a pleasure meeting you,commander"

Zeres stared at Ariel's outstretched hand for a while before returning the gesture.

You can call me Zeres, after all you are the future Alpha, milady.", he said, and his eyes flashed with something unfathomable when their hands connected. His lips lifted into a half-smile that didn't reach his eyes. "Trust me, the pleasure is mine."

The handshake lasted only for a second, but Ariel clearly felt the sparks. How was that possible? Didn't she reject him?

She had numerous questions which she couldn't spew in front of Hailey and the other soldiers watching. Will Zeres even agree to answer any of her questions.

Zeres, the name alone brought a bright smile on her face. His name was befitting for someone as beautiful as him.
