I detested every moment of Working under my mother and having to Meet people who had nothing in their head but how to party and lavish money.
Another exhausting day of work, I was working home, dragging my worn out body since my car broke down on the way here, it was raining heavily so I had to wait in the car till ir stopped.
Unfortunately no cabs or buses to take home and I had already turned down the men who wanted to give me a ride.
I approached the silver gate of our mansion, pushed the heavy door with the last strength I had in my body, and I walked past the wide expanse of concrete and grass.
Once at the door, I pushed it open and walked in as silent as I could, avoiding anything that would make anyone question me, especially mother who was very good at asking me point less questions.
Unfortunately for me, since i had offended the universe by not taking my hangover pills this morning, I came across mom and dad who sat in the living room, conversing with each other.
"Vera, let her be, stop the blind dates and everything, she still has ten more years of youth, Leave her to enjoy it. Besides you are not the one doing to loving but her," Dad stated, trying to conBarry mom as always why she should stop pushing men my way.
"Oh please Martin, she will grow to love her husband, I already found the perfect.."
"Mother, I hate to interrupt you, but you're beginning to annoy me. What don't you understand by. I. Will. Not marry any man you bring to me," I cut her off, now making my presence known in the room.
I was sick and tired of my own mother making my decisions for me, I am not a kid and many would understand how it feels to be pushed into a loveless marriage.
"I bet your parents didn't do the same to you, Did they push dad to you for Marriage?" I watched her eyes gleam, guilt clouding her decision, but as stubborn as she was.
She rose from her seat and stepped close to me, a dark aura forming around her. "Don't test me Isabella , you will not disrespect me again," she warned and marched up the stairs, her heels clicking as she did so.
I sighed, my shoulders dropping sadly, I glanced at dad and he gestured to me to come sit. I did ad he said, placing myself across from him. I dropped my bag on the teal coloured couch.
"Isabella my dear, please forgive you mother, ehe is yet to know what the consequences of her actions would be," He said, his voice soft and filled with love.
To be honest, he was the only living person in this world that actually understood me better than I did myself. He wasn't the one who birthed me, but he was a better mother and father, than mother was but I can't really complain can I?
If I had a choice I would tell the universe to make him a single dad and then I'd have to pick a wife myself for him, because I am tired. I desperately need help.
"Dinner is in the kitchen, Freshen up and eat, I'll be going to bed now," He announced, Patting my head gently before going up the stairs to join Hot Doritos.
I rose from where I sat, picked up my bag and left the living room through a door beside the kitchen, I took the stairs up to my bedroom located at the roof. It was like it was barely part of the mansion.
I had dad put my room a floor away from their so i could have my peace and quiet. I used the space there as a working area.
I've always loved Taking photos and painting, so I planted various flowers, created a small brid house for birds and a little home for my cat and Dog. I had thousands of pictures of them.
It was like my own small nature photoshoot center. The ten potted plants, with lavender, roses, daisies, white lilies and mets not firget poisen ivy.
Yes, it is dangerous but why not take the risks, besides i have a high tolerant level against poisons.
I dropped my bag on my king sized violet bed, licked my shoes carelessly under the bed and began stripping as I made my way to the bathroom. I set the water, I wanted a warm so that's what I did, threw in a baby scented bath bomb inti the bathtub and placed my small bath table on it.
I had to call a few clients and my friend so i could work, eat and take a bath.
I placed my laptop, my notepad and candle because i was definitely going to turn iff the light.
I rushed out of the room to go get a glass of iced tea, cookies and rice that the cook prepared for dinner. I returned and placed everything on the bath table.
I dipped myself into the warm liquid, the soothing liquid welcoming my body into its embrace, I sipped a little of the tea and put a call across to my long term client.
Incharge of my nails and hair, while I helped her manage her business, helped her with her insurances and other branches.
"Good evening,Madison" I greeted softly, leaning back into the tub, the water was already covering my body except my head that stuck out like a sore thumb.
"Miss Shaw, It's nice seeing you again, How is everything?"
"Well I've been good, How is your new branch going?"
"Great, I'll have to go now, We could meet tomorrow over Dinner" She said, putting on a hair net, and in her hands was a spatula. I chuckled softly and smiled
"Sure no problem, Goodnight" She gave a small smile and disconnected, I tilted my head against the bathtub, heaving a heavy sigh.
After having a long bath, Preparing a work schedule and drying up. I changed into a black night dress, tied my hair to a bun and retired to bed.
I had to make up different scenerios in my head, one of them had a faceless billionaire that I hadn't imagined but I knew I wanted to. The problem was I couldn't see his face and that was heartbreaking.
He seemed nice but had a cold aura, he was probably introverted and that would be a bonus for me. Anyways I would do anything to find a man who would love for who I am, not what I am.
As I lay in bed, I couldn't help but think about my life. I felt like I was living in a prison, trapped by my mother's expectations and pressure from the company, I wanted freedom, for the ability to make my own choices and live my own life and not let anyone do everything for me.
I thought about my father, and how he had always been there for me. He was the one person who truly understood me, who knew what I wanted and needed. But even he couldn't protect me from my mother's behavior.
I sighed and closed my eyes, trying to shut out the thoughts that came to me. But they only seemed to get worse, like a television refusing to turn off. . Just as I was starting to drift off to sleep, I heard a knock at the door. I groaned and rolled over, not wanting to get up. But the knocking came more, growing louder..
I finally threw off the covers and got out of bed, stomping over to the door. I flung it open, ready to give whoever was on the other side a piece of my mind.
But to my surprise, it was dad. He looked at me with a concerned expression, and I could tell he had been working and drinking. I raised an eyebrow, wondering what he was doing here at this time of night.
"Isabella , I need to talk to you," he said, his voice low and barely enough to be a whisper but I could hear him fine "I know your mother has been treating you bad lately, but I want you to know that I'm here for you. I'll always be here for you, no matter what."
I felt a lump form in my throat as I looked at him. He was the only person who truly cared about me, the only one who understood me. I felt a surge of love and gratitude towards him, and I knew that I would do anything to protect him.
"Thanks, Dad," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "That means a lot to me."
He smiled and put a hand on my shoulder. "I know it's not easy, Isabella . But I promise you, it will get better. You just have to hold on, okay?"
I nodded, feeling a sense of hope wash over me. Maybe, just maybe, things would get better. Maybe I would find a way out of this prison and into a life of my own making.
He turned and walked back downstairs, leaving me alone once again. But this time, I didn't feel so alone. I felt like I had a lifeline, a way out of the darkness that had been suffocating me.
I got back into bed and closed my eyes, feeling a sense of peace wash over me. I knew that tomorrow would be a new day, a chance to start again. And I was ready, ready to take on whatever came my way.
___
I woke up the next morning feeling refreshed and like a new human. Dad's words of encouragement made me see the light in tiday. So I was ready to do just that.
I climbed out of bed, rushed to the bathroom humming random tunes in my head, and I had a quick bath. Threw on a black noodle hand dress that stopped on my mid thigh, wore a pink crochet top and black stilettos to match, grabbed my pink almost nude coloured handbag after I had made my hair into Wave.
Wore my grandma's Pearl necklace and earrings given to me for my Eighteenth birthday, before she died.
Once I was done, I dashed out of my room and down the stairs, hoping not to see mom but there she was once again, by the door, holding a cup of coffee and her phone in her hand.
"Good morning, mother," I greeted, disdain laced in my voice. I wanted to walk past her but I had a feeling she would pull me back and hit me.
"Isabella Shaw, why are you so stubborn?"
Okay, I didn't know where that was coming from, but I suddenly felt enraged, why would she just see me this early and decide to ruin my day.
Is it a crime to be her daughter?
"What do you mean?" I asked between gritted teeth, clenching my fists around my handbag.
"I mean why can't you just be like girls your age, they get married to wealthy CEOs and they end up falling heads over heels for them afterwards, most even before the marriage. Why do you want to bring shame into our family?"
"Excuse me? Shame? Look Mom I don't care if I bring shame or not, I will not get married to a man I've never met or feel nothing for, so please stop pushing men to me, because I will reject them every time"
"Isabella ! The next time I bring a man to you and you dare reject him, you cease to work for my company" she threatened with a strict tone and I only laughed.
"Oh please, I'd rather reject being your daughter than Marrying who you set up for me. Mark my words mom, the next time you set up a man with me ,I will humiliate and reject him"
I got into my car after having it returned this morning before I woke up. I sped out of the mansion compound and into the busy streets caring less about the dangers I was in.
I was going to pick up a box of pastries from my favorite sweet treat dealer, visit my nail tech to book a session and then go to the company.
I had to meet a few clients today, the last one over dinner after I was done with Madison.
My family's company had always been the one thing they Adored, well after me. It started off as a small stall where dad helped shop owners maintain their insurance, help them book rebuild and renovations plans. If anyone had problems with land, they always came to him.
Then he decided to make it bigger, added a few more sections, one of which I handle, event planning and others, I was particularly great with Wedding parties. The cake preparations and everything.
"I wish that's all I had to do and not think about getting married," I thought out loud, driving into the parking lot under the company.
I stepped out and handed my bags and keys to my bodyguard,
"Good morning Isabella ," Ryker greeted and began walking off as usual without waiting for me to say anything.
Ryker Leron, the only man I'd happily have dinner with and not feel awkward or indepted to him. He has been with me since birth and became my bodyguard when II clocked thirteen while he was eighteen and since then he's always been by my side.
He was a distang, Introverted kind of guy, he hated people and was also scared of talking to people, except myself and dad. He only said few words to people.
But getting to know him, he was a fun person, always seeing the bad side of everything and had a perfect dark humor. These few days, he's been a little off, since his girlfriend cheated and he broke up with her. I tried to find him a new girl but no one could replace the last.
And I couldn't even offer myself, we were like siblings and he loves me too much to date me.
"Ryker!" I yelled now realizing I was thinking for too long.
I rushed over to his side and blocked his path, causing him to glare hard at me.
"Don't look at me like that"
"Like what? You're standing in front of a six foot ten man who will move you like a ping pong ball, isn't that worrisome?"
Okay, This is the Ryker I know.
"You can't move me, I am your boss"
"Oh really"
"Yes, I dare you to move me" I was playing with fire now, and I was loving it. Times with him like this are always the best, and this is what I need right now.
"Alright" Ryker lifted me up by my waist, and threw me over his shoulders, he used his hands to hold my dress down. To avoid any mistakes, then he removed a scarf from his pocket and covered my thighs finally before walking out of the parking lot.
"Put me down" I squirmed, playful hitting him and kicking my feets.
"Apologies Isabella but no, if I drop you, then everyone will see everything, so be a good girl amd wait till we get to your office" He uttered lowly and then kept a stoic face wgile walking into the company.
I just stayed still and waved at the workers when we passed, giving them a 'It's not what you think' look. And thank the universe for good people, they understood because I kept no secret of my relationship with Ryker.
____
"You're going to be the death of me someday" Ryker said as he dropped me on my desk, he dropped my bag in my lap and his scarf on my head, covering my face in the process.
"At least I got to make you smile again" I said to him, a shy smile appearing on his face, he sat down on a couch across my office, took off his vest and layed on the chair, his long legs extending out and touching the wall.
"Yeah whatever, Hurry up with your work, I need food and you're paying for my personal table,"
"You're joking right?"
He turned to look at me with a sinister smirk and I already knew what was going on in his mind. "If I don't get what I want I uploading our baby pictures to the world, including the one you shaved your hair"
"You can't do that"
" I have access to everything my dear, I'm a big guy and I'm having a large dinner today, also, I'll scare off any man that tries to get your number"
"Fine" I said and got of the table, I got behind my table, turned off my computer and waited for it to completely booting. While Ryker put on his earpods and closed his eyes, listening to whatever he was in peace.
One thing I envied about him was he only had one thing to do. Protect me. Asides that, he only had to help send pastries I baked to those who ordered, pick up kids from the company's daycare. Everyone practically Adored him.
He only spends his time, driving around aimlessly, watching movies, horror to be precise and eating at anytime.
Complete traits of an introvert and I could never have that.
I sighed and faced my work, hoping time would go past and I could meet Madison and we could hang out and talk over dinner because I need it more than anything.
____
"Werewolves don't exist" I told Ryker as we walked out of the company. He had to bring up something that had to do with mythological creatures and the one he had to believe was Werewolves...not demons or Angels but wild freaking dogs.
"They do, Maybe during your vacation, I'll take you for camping and we'll look for some"
"Aren't they dangerous?"
"Offcourse they are, an maybe just maybe, one will pique interest in you and then mark you as his mate, that's a great news for me and for you."
"How?" I asked getting into the car, while Ryker got in the driver seat, still talking.
"Well, If a Werewolf sees you as his mate and marks you, that means you both have been fated together by the awesome moon goddess and God, as for me, I get to have everything I want because I am your brother and your werewolf husband would want to make me happy so you will be happy" He explained and started the engine, with a joyful smile on his face.
"You look like you know it's going to happen" I scoffed, raising a bottle water to my lips to quench my thirst since I forgot all thanks to him.
"My gut tells me, you will be the first human girl I know to be mated to a Werewolf, based on my dreams, he will pose to be a human and somehow you'll be the destined one to thaw his frozen heart"
He can't be serious, It's impossible.
One thing I've learnt while with Ryker was that his dreams and gut feelings are always eighty five percent accurate, the last time I did not believe I was shocked to the bone and now this.
"Ryker please, that is an expensive joke?"
"Let's make a bet then, If what I say comes to pass, then you owe me a platinum card and a new car, if it doesn't happen then you have my position and I will do all your work and attend your blind dates"
"Alright, it's a deal" I said and shook hands with him to seal the deal, facing the road to think of what he had said.
Werewolves would never exist, and even if they did,I would never be mated to one, not in the life I the next. 'Horrifying beings, never'
We arrived at a restaurant that I booked personally for myself and Madison, we loved having our meals alone where no one would walk up to ask requesting phone numbers or our names.
Ryker and I alighted the car, he walked behind me, scanning the environment carefully. Once we got in, he asked the security men to keep the door locked at all times, till we were ready to leave.
I saw Madison at the end of the room, doing something with her phone, beautiful as usual in her white suit and brown shoulder length hair.
"Madison..." I called softly, walking up to where she sat, a smile appeared on her face, she dropped her phone and embraced me, hugging me like we hadn't seen the day before. "I can't breath."
I uttered tapping her back, he withdrew and glanced behind me, a deep frown forming on her face.
"Do you have to bring your bodyguard boyfriend with you? He's creeping me out"
"He is not my boyfriend, more of a brother but yes, i have to," I turned around gesturing to Ryker to come, he strode over, glaring hard at Madison.
Yes, they were Mortal enemies, reasons, he ruined her prom dress and cake on her eighteenth birthday.
"Order some food for yourself, and yes you are off duty for tonight," I said and he smiled.
"Thank you," he mouthed and walked over to the other table, close to the windows. He called a waiter over made his order while Madison and I settled in.
"So how is husband hunting going?"
"Please I'm the one being hunted instead, I have turned down ten men this month and it's not even the end of the month" I told her, leaning on one of my hands while I stylishly looked at the menu deciding what to eat.
"Then pick one already, there are thousands of wealthy good looking men out there"
"Madison I don't want that, good-looking yes, but if that man cannot match or stand up to Ryker then I refuse to marry him. Besides I don't like anyone of them"
She stared at me in disbelief and then smiled "Why don't you marry Ryker then?"
"He's like a brother to me, we're too close to even think about dating" I answered, marking down what I decided to order. Oven baked chicken and rice, then with red wine and a small bowl of ice cream.
"Isabella ," she dragged my name, leaning closer, "You either marry him or reject men till you're thirty"
"Like I said I won't marry Ryker, I'd rather die single than marry anyone that isn't matured enough"
"Well suits you.Waiter!"
She yelled calling a waiter to come attend to our orders.
_____
"Ryker, can we go now?" I dragged, leaning against the table, my hair sprawled outward some stands threatening to go into his food.
Sometimes Ryker can be a Stick in the butt sometimes, He just had to order food when Madison and I finished. He had the audacity to order a three course meal, Fish soup, Rice and fried chicken, chocolate cake for dessert and then wine.
And he just had to be on the second course, feeding me little bits of food when he decided to tease me.
"Open wide," He said, holding a spoon of rice to my mouth, I raised my head up to look at him, glaring hard before eating off the spoon. He gave a short chuckle and sipped his wine, not taking his eyes off me.
"Let's go, It's getting late and mom will flip when she finds out I was actually out with my bodyguard," I said, sitting up now, stretching out my arms with a low yawn escaping my lips.
"Let her think whatever, You haven't been out late before and you hardly treat yourself, So take this as a blood moon moment," He stated pouring wine into a glass for me, he pushed the glass over to me, calling the waiter over to order more food.
I stared at him in disbelief knowing I would regret eating whatever the waiter would bring, especially when the food is so tasty and irresistible.
"Ryker," I whispered, trying to make him change his mind, but he didn't respond; he only spoke to the waiter and then faced me with a harmless smile.
"I hate you so much" I mouthed, earning a soft chuckle from him. I dropped my head on the table preparing my stomach for the second meal we would be having tonight.
I then raised my head to ask Ryker something about his ex-girlfriend when a man in a slick polished suit walked up to us with a supposed charming smile, probably what other girls would think.
"What do you want?" Ryker's voice resounded in the restaurant, now turning stern and deep laced with irritation. He already activated guard mode faster than how Icut calls.
"Good evening, Miss Shaw"
Okay, Disrespectful. No one ignores Ryker. No one at all.
"Didn't you see him?" I gestured at Ryker who sat glaring daggers at the man. To be honest I could feel the ground vibrating with how angry Ryker was. He absolutely hates being ignored.
"Of Course I did and he is irrelevant, I came here for you. I am Luke Adams, Your mother's very good friend and client"
Okay, Offense number one,
He disrespected Ryker.
Offense number two,
He called him irrelevant
And number three,
He is arrogant.
"Thank you for gracing us with your presence, German man, As you can see Miss Shawand I were having a quiet dinner," Ryker spoke up, giving a very menacing deadly smile, he was already balling his fists.
Luke's eyes showed disappointment and disbelief, he turned to me with his jaw almost dropped then he asked. "You are on a date with you bodyguard."
How I wished that was true, that Ryker and I were strangers who just met and liked each other. But him being like a brother was twice of what he would be if he was my lover, so no.
I like our relationship this way, but searching for an answer for this Luke , whatever man, I opened my mouth to give a perfect explanation but Ryker spoke up before me.
"What if she is on date with me? How does that concern you in anyway. Besides she would rather stay here with a Stone faced Guard than leave and speak to a German shepherd"
"Ryker," I whispered, Trying to scold Him for insulting Luke even though he deserved it. "Please leave, If you're here for business then I'm not available at this moment, Tomorrow morning will be a perfect time.
"Why would you choose him over someone that can make your company better?"
"I see you're trying to upset me sir, but with all due respect please leave unless you want him to kick you out, then be my guest," I said, making sure to pick my words carefully so I wouldn't anger someone and end up getting yelled at by my parents.
He looked at me in disbelief and reluctantly left, after pushing his contact card into my hands. I sighed and put it in my bag before turning to Ryker who was already fuming.
"Why can't one of them be reasonable at least? Every man who comes to see you be it clients or Interested men, they always have to be so stupid," Ryker spat making the waiter who served our meal flinch.
I gave her an apologetic smile and she nodded mirroring while smile, avoiding Ryker's intense gaze on her. I heaved a sigh and lwaned into my seat.
"You're not going to eat?" He asked as he picked up his cutleries.
I sat back up and stared plainly at the well organized meal before me, roasted fish and a small portion of white rice and fish sauce. Simple. At the same time filling.
I sighed and picked up my cutleries preparing to dig into my second meal of the night.
___
Morning once again.
I managed to bypass Mother when I arrived last night with Ryker's help. He actually distracted her, with an excuse that I feel asleep In the car and he carried my fake sleeping body to my room.
He stayed over because I asked him to and I wanted someone to talk to while I was working. He is a very interesting introvert one could mistake him for a loud mouth if they actually see us talking from afar.
We talked about a few things, our dreams and hopes. We talked about how much we would want to stay together forever, name our kids after each other and go on honeymoones in the same hotels. Discussing every single crazy night with our partners over Barbecue and Swimming.
We talked about our preferences, I've always liked tall guys like Him but Dark long haired that I could braid and push my fingers through when cuddling. He had long hair as well, but was blonde with a hint of reddish red at the ends, giving that hot Mafia Lord.
I've always liked quiet but bold guys, that had tattoos and Fashion sense-So basically I like guys like Ryker but dark haired and Tattooed.
While Ryker likes Thick or chubby short girls that are simple and wear shorts and hoodies, messy eaters but neat, food lovers, lazy, determined and Adorable girls–that I am not, Thick, yes, short, obviously, messy eater, no, food lover, yes, lazy, absolutely not.
We also discussed about his ex and I got to know why he broke up with her. She cheated on him with her cousin who turned out to be her Mother friend's son who was currently running for Mayor in Pennsylvania and she saw him as an opportunity to gain fame while Ryker would just be a wealthy and a shut in, something she wouldn't like.
He felt so hurt but relieved and ended the relationship and he is done with relationships for now. If only I could find someone like him, the female version of himself then he would be happy.
Anyways, I woke up late today, at exactly Eleven on a bean bag beside Ryker who also slept on a bean bag in a similar pyjama. I sat up, rubbing my eyes carefully with a low yawn. I glanced at Ryker and saw how exhausted he looked and taking him to work with me while like this would not be nice.
I quietly cleaned up, sneaked into the kitchen to get food and snackes, set up movies for him and left a note alongside a text telling him not to ca or leave my room till I returned.
I wore a Black sundress and jean jacket, tied my hair to a bun and a six inch heel that made me twice maybe trice my normal height. I quietly left my room, locking it from the outside so no one could get in.
Greeted father since he was the only one in the living room, I grabbed a cup of coffee and toast before taking my car to the company, hoping Luke was not there waiting.
However, since the universe decided to toy with me today probably because I haven't Chosen a man so I could produce a new human for them, I saw Luke looking all dolled up right in front of the company.
I tinted my windows before he could see me, killed the engines and leaned against the wheel, thinking of how I would move without him seeing me. He was wearing a White Round collar shirt and black pants that fitted the shirt perfectly, he look casual with his brown hair neatly combed and trimmed.
I picked up my phone, trying to waste time by scrolling through my messages untill I got a text from Ryker.
'Why are you still in your car and why did you leave me here?' I read slowly a smile creping up my face but then I frowned when I reread and realized he knew what I was doing.
I sent a reply asking him why and he replied with, 'I have my eyes on you Isabella , There is a drone, security cameras and micro ships on every staff in that company, You don't expect me to leave you and take a vacation, right?'
This guy is unbelievable, He has his eyes on me, I then took my gaze back to the company's entrance and saw that Luke was no longer there. I quickly grabbed my purse, stepped out of the car and rushed over to the door. I pushed it, walked hastily through the halls to where the Elevator was giving short nods to those that greeted me.
I waited patiently in the elevator till I got to my floor, Hurried out and into my office where I locked the door and collapsed on rhe sofa. I was panting heavily, already regretting the remaining days Luke would visit or wait around for me.
After a few moments of resting and sauntered to my desk, turned on my computer and began work, I received calls from high paying clients, Event plan ers willing to partners and then after about twenty calls a specific almost familiar voice came so awfully casual.
"Good day miss Shaw, Are you available at the moment I would like to discuss something with you tonight,"
"Offcourse sir, but may I know who this is?" I asked sounding so respectfully knowing fully well what would happen if I dared sound rude.
"I only want to talk to you and maybe book a meeting to invest in one of your shares"
"Oh alright, Where will I see you?"
"Flintlocks Cafe, Few blocks away from your company and build an appetite, I hear their Tarts are lovely at this time of the year"
Before I could reply, he cut the call abruptly, making me feel afflicted. I liked tart, I really do but what if it was a prank or maybe one of the men who wanted to marry me. But he didn't sound like them, he seemed responsible only had a slight bit of arrogance in it.
Anyways, after thinking of the possible outcomes that would result in me regretting the meet up, I soon found myself driving to the cafe hours later.
The streets were almost empty to be honest, Few luxurious cars driving past me like bees. Night taking its place in the sky, Taking it's shift while the sun goes to rest or probably take a shift in a different place.
I pulled up in the driveway of an Oddly shaped building, let's say mushroom with a green roof and glasses for walls, how stupid. I wonder what would happen if it started raining bullets. What were the architects and Construction workers thinking when they designs and built this.
"It's just one night Isabella , Meet the man, discuss and sign whatever then leave" I told myself, taking in another deep breath. I alighted the car after parking and walked with my head raised into the building.
As usual, a finely established restaurant always has few customers, sometimes none because they book dates for events, dates and meetings. I spotted a man sitting alone at a corner d
So I assumed it was who I was supposed to be meeting.
I walked up to him already apologizing before I even got there fully only to be met with a warm smile from Luke.
"Mister Adams," I greeted through gritted teeths, fisting my bag in my hand tightly. I waited till he got up and raided my hand to his lips to kiss my knuckles.
"Good to see you again Miss Shaw."
How did I not know, I should have recorded his voice in my brain as a mental note never to meet up with anyone with his voice. Yet, here I am,
"Luke Adams, Right?" I asked, my tone raised and showing how awkward I felt. He juyhad to show up today and ruin it, the day I planned to go house shopping, now look at me.
Standing all dolled up hoping to meet someone that would be of benefit to my life but instead met with a German or Russian guy who looks like he who eat me if I gave him the go ahead.
"Yes, trust you have some room for Korean delicacies or you already ate something with your bodyguard," I glared hard at him giving him a simple reaction that made him shut up and help me get into my seat.
The table had what I recognized to be red spicy noodles, fish dumplings, boba tea and Tang Hulu. Well that's one thing this man did that made me even want to stay.
The food.
I heaved a sigh and began eating, slowly but fast enough for me to enjoy, while I carefully watched him. He began eating as well after raking his eyes all over my body, something I found nauseating.
However, half way through my food and me focused on only my food. I hadn't noticed when Luke stopped eating, pushed his food aside and took my free hand into his.
I stared blankly at him, wondering what he was trying to do since I lost my senses to the pleasures of flavours in my mouth.
"Isabella Shaw, I've really liked you for a while now, from your movements to how you eat and handle your company. It wasn't until I met you personally that I had realized how much I wanted–"
"No."
