Chapter 1 ESCAPE

ESCAPE

WILLOW'S POV

My heart is racing as I pack my bags, throwing clothes and supplies into my backpack with shaky hands. I can hear the sounds of my pack howling in the distance, and I know that I have to move quickly if I want to escape unnoticed.

My father, the alpha of Prime Pack, has committed too many atrocities for me to stay here any longer. He has killed innocent humans, tortured other shifters, and ruled with an iron fist. I can't take it anymore, it is either I escape or become caught in my father's destructiveness.

I take one last look around my room, trying to memorize every detail before I leave. I know that I'll never be able to come back here again.

I take a deep breath and sling my backpack over my shoulder. It's now or never. I open my window and climb out onto the roof, trying to be as quiet as possible.

But just as I'm about to jump down, I hear footsteps behind me. I turn around to see my best friend, Jake, standing there, his expression torn between concern and determination.

"I'm coming with you," he says firmly, holding out his own backpack.

I hesitate for a moment, knowing that he could get in serious trouble for leaving the pack without permission. But I also know that I can't do this alone.

"Okay," I say finally, taking his backpack and slinging it over my other shoulder.

Together, we make our way across the rooftops, jumping from building to building with the ease of years of practice. We can hear the pack howling in the distance, getting closer and closer.

We run faster, our hearts pounding in our chests as we race toward the edge of town. We can't stop now. We have to keep going.

Finally, we reach the forest, and we plunge into the thick underbrush, trying to put as much distance between the pack and us as possible. We keep running, our legs burning with exertion. My heart is pounding as I run through the forest, my backpack bouncing against my back. I can hear the sounds of my pack howling in the distance, but I know that I have to keep going. I can't let them catch me.

I glance over my shoulder and see Jack struggling to keep up. He's a good friend, but he's not as fast as I am. I slow down a bit, waiting for him to catch up.

"Come on, we have to keep going!" I shout, my voice is hoarse from the exertion.

But just as we round the bend in the trail, we come face to face with a group of my father's warriors. They're all armed with spears and daggers, and they're blocking our way.

I try to dodge past them, but one of them grabs me by the arm, pulling me to a stop. I struggle to break free, but I'm outnumbered and outmatched.

"Where do you think you're going?" one of them sneers, his eyes flashing with anger.

"I...I have to go," I stammer, trying to come up with a convincing excuse.

But they're not buying it. They know that I'm running away from my pack, and they're not about to let me go without a fight.

Suddenly, I hear a commotion behind me, and I turn to see Jack sprinting away, his backpack bouncing wildly as he disappears into the trees.

"Get him!" one of my warriors yells, and several of them take off after him.

I'm left alone, surrounded by my angry warriors. I know that I'm in trouble, but I refuse to go down without a fight.

I struggle against them, but there are too many of them. They overpower me, pinning me to the ground with their spears and daggers.

I close my eyes, bracing myself for the worst. But then, I hear a voice.

"Stop!" it says, firm and commanding.

I look up to see my father, the alpha of Prime Pack, striding towards us. He's flanked by several of his most trusted lieutenants, and they all look serious and stern.

"What is going on here?" my father demands, his eyes scanning the group.

One of the warriors steps forward, explaining the situation. My father listens carefully, his expression unreadable.

Finally, he turns to me.

"Willow, you know the rules of our pack. Running away is not allowed," he says, his voice cold and hard.

I try to protest, but he cuts me off.

"But...I am willing to give you another chance. Come back to the pack, and we will discuss your punishment later."

I hesitate for a moment, torn between my desire for freedom and my loyalty to my pack. But then I remember all of the atrocities that my father has committed, and I know that I can't go back.

"I'm sorry, Father," I say, my voice steady. "I can't go back. Not after everything that has happened."

My father's expression darkens, and I know that I've made a huge mistake.

"Take her away," he orders, and his warriors drag me to my feet, their eyes cold and unforgiving.

I struggle against them, but it's no use. I'm caught, and there's no way out.

As the warriors drag me to my feet, I can feel their eyes on me, their expressions cold and unforgiving. I know that I've made a grave mistake by trying to run away, but I can't go back now, not after everything that has happened.

My father glares at me, his eyes dark and stormy. "You have disappointed me, Willow," he says, his voice low and menacing.

I don't respond, knowing that anything I say will only make things worse. Instead, I keep my head down and try to prepare myself for whatever punishment awaits me.

My father turns to his lieutenants, his expression grim. "Take her to the dungeon," he says. "We'll deal with her later."

The lieutenants nod, and the warriors drag me away, their grips tight and unrelenting. I struggle against them, but they're too strong.

As we make our way to the dungeon, I can feel my heart sinking. I know that I'm in for a long and painful punishment, and I'm not sure how much more I can take.

When we reach the dungeon, the warriors throw me into a dark, damp cell, slamming the door shut behind me. I'm alone now, with nothing but my thoughts to keep me company.

I sink to the ground, my knees shaking with fear and exhaustion. How did everything go so wrong? All I wanted was to escape from my pack and my father's tyranny, but now I'm trapped here, alone and afraid.

Hours pass, and I lose track of time. I'm hungry, thirsty, and exhausted, but I can't sleep. Every time I close my eyes, I see the faces of the warriors, their eyes cold and unforgiving.

Finally, the door creaks open, and one of my father's lieutenants enters the cell. He's holding a whip, and I know what's about to happen.

He advances towards me, the whip coiled in his hand. "Your father has ordered me to punish you," he says, his voice cold and emotionless.

I try to plead with him, but he's not listening. He lashes out with the whip, and I feel the searing pain as it strikes my back.

"You are such a weakling, running away from your pack. You are not your father's daughter." he mocks me

I agree with him.

Again and again, he strikes me, until I can't take it anymore. I'm sobbing now, my body wracked with pain and fear.

Finally, he stops, and I'm left alone again, my back raw and bleeding. I curl up on the ground, tears streaming down my face. How did everything go so wrong? All I wanted was to be free, but now I'm trapped in a nightmare from which there seems to be no escape.

Chapter 2 ANOTHER CHANCE

WILLOW'S POV

For days I was left alone in the dungeon, I had only my thoughts and fears for company. My only worry was for my friend Jake, I had not heard from him since we first tried to escape. I should not have allowed him to come along with me. Knowing my father well he hates people going against him and escaping amounted to treason in his book. I shudder thinking of what might have befallen my friend

The endless beatings, the starvation, the isolation. It was all becoming too much to bear, and I was not strong enough for the torture I foresee. I silently prayed for help because my willpower was almost failing me.

But then, something strange happens. I hear a noise outside my cell - a soft thumping, like someone knocking on the wall.

At first, I think it was just my imagination, but then I hear it again. I crawl towards the wall, pressing my ear against the cold stone.

And then, I hear a voice. "Willow," it whispers, urgent and desperate. "Can you hear me?"

I don't recognize the voice, but it's enough to give me hope. "Yes," I whisper back. "Who are you?"

"It doesn't matter," the voice says. "Just listen carefully. I've managed to disable the locks on your cell. You have a chance to escape, but you need to move quickly."

My heart races with excitement and fear. Could this really be happening? Could I really be getting a chance to escape?

I scramble to my feet, my body sore and weak from days of abuse. But I push through the pain, determined to escape from this hellhole.

As I step out of the cell, I see a figure in the shadows, their face hidden by a hood. "This way," they whisper, gesturing towards a darkened corridor.

I follow them, my heart pounding with excitement and fear. I don't know who this person is or why they're helping me, but I don't care. All I want is to be free.

We make our way through the dungeon, slipping past guards and avoiding detection.

I can hear the faint sounds of footsteps and voices echoing through the halls, but we manage to stay hidden.

As we reach the main entrance to the dungeon, the hooded figure stops and turns to me. "This is as far as I can take you," they say, their voice muffled by the hood.

"Do you have any information about Jake? I asked worry filling my voice

The figure studied me for a moment, then nodded slowly. "As it happens, Jake is alive. But he's being punished for his attempt to escape. You won't be able to see him."

"Can you help him?"

They are silent for a few seconds "We took a great risk helping you because we believe your escape can help the pack. Your friend Jake would survive but you must leave now for our sake and yours."

I hesitated briefly, fear of the unknown almost crippling me.

"You're on your own from here." the hooded figure says to me and they made to leave

I nod, understanding that I can't risk leading anyone back to the person who helped me escape. "Thank you," I whisper, before slipping past them and out into the daylight.

For a moment, I'm blinded by the bright sun, my eyes struggling to adjust after days of darkness. But as my vision clears, I can see the forest stretching out before me - a vast expanse of green, filled with the promise of freedom.

Without hesitation, I start running, my feet pounding against the earth. I don't know where I'm going or what I'm going to do, but I don't care. All that matters is that I'm free.

As I run, I can feel the wind in my hair and the sun on my skin. I'm alive, and I'm free, and nothing can stop me now.

But even as I run, I know that my past will never truly be behind me. My father and my pack will never stop looking for me, and I'll always have to keep one step ahead of them.

But for now, I'm free, and that's all that matters.

But soon, the exhaustion sets in, and I begin to feel the burn in my legs and the stitch in my side. I try to push through it, but my body is weak and tired from days of captivity.

Finally, I collapse on the forest floor, gasping for breath. I feel like I'm going to die, my heart racing, my vision blurring.

But then, I hear a voice, muffled and distant. "Are you okay?"

I look up, and I see a man hovering over me, concern etched on his face. He looks vaguely familiar, but I can't place him.

"I'm fine," I gasp, struggling to sit up. "I just need a minute to catch my breath."

The man nods, his expression softening. "Do you need any help?"

I shake my head, my mind reeling. Who is this man? How did he find me? Is he a friend or an enemy?

But even as I try to process my thoughts, I can feel my body starting to shut down. I'm so tired, and I don't know if I can keep going.

The man kneels down beside me, his eyes fixed on mine. "Don't worry," he says, his voice soft and reassuring. "I'll take care of you."

And then, he picks me up in his arms, cradling me gently like a baby. I feel safe and warm, wrapped in his embrace.

As he carries me through the forest, I feel myself drifting off, my mind clouded with exhaustion. But even as I slip away, I know that I'm safe, that I'm free, and that I have a chance to start a new life.

Chapter 3 THE PROPOSAL

THE PROPOSAL

JADEN'S POV

I stand in front of my father, the Lycan King, my fists clenched at my sides. I can't believe what he's asking me to do. He wants me to marry the daughter of the Vampire King, to form an alliance between our two races.

"But father," I say, my voice shaking with anger. "I don't love her. I don't even know her. How can you ask me to marry someone I don't even care about?"

My father's expression hardens, his eyes narrowing. "It's not about love, Jaden," he says, his voice cold and authoritative. "It's about power. The alliance with the vampires is crucial to our survival. We need them as our allies, and they need us as theirs. This marriage is the only way to secure that alliance."

I shake my head, unable to believe what I'm hearing. "But what about my happiness?" I say, my voice rising in frustration. "What about what I want?"

My father's expression softens, and he steps closer to me, placing a hand on my shoulder. "I know this isn't what you want, Jaden," he says, his voice gentle. "But sometimes, we have to make sacrifices for the greater good. You're the future of our race, and your duty is to protect our people, even if it means sacrificing your own happiness."

I pull away from his touch, my heart heavy. I can't believe he's asking me to do this. To marry someone I don't even care about, just for the sake of political gain.

But as I look into my father's eyes, I know that there's no arguing with him. He's made up his mind, and there's nothing I can say to change it.

Reluctantly, I nod my head. "Fine," I say, my voice low. "I'll think about it. But don't expect me to be ecstatic about it."

My father nods, his expression grave. "I understand," he says, before turning and walking away.

As I watch him go, I know that my life is about to change forever. But whether it will be for the better or the worse, I can't say. All I know is that I'm about to enter into a world of politics and power, where love and happiness are nothing more than a distant dream.

***********

I step out of the grand mansion that has been my home for as long as I can remember, my frustration and anger boiling within me. The decision my father had made to force me into a loveless marriage with the daughter of the Vampire King still echoes in my mind.

As I make my way toward the cave, the only place where I can find solace and clear my head, my mind is filled with conflicting thoughts. Should I go ahead with the marriage and sacrifice my happiness for the good of our race, or should I stand up for what I truly want?

My legs pound the dirt trail, my breath coming in sharp gasps, as I run towards the cave. The cool air and the scent of pine trees surround me as I break through the clearing and enter the cave. It's dark, but I know my way around. I have been coming here since I was a child.

I sit down on a large rock, taking deep breaths, trying to calm my racing thoughts. The sound of water trickling down the rocks soothes my troubled mind, and I feel the tension easing from my body.

But even as I sit there, trying to clear my head, my thoughts keep going back to the looming marriage. I know I cannot let my father force me into something I don't want, but I also cannot let our race suffer for my selfish desires.

The sound of footsteps outside the cave interrupts my thoughts, and I freeze, not sure who it might be. But then, I hear a familiar voice.

"Jaden?"

It's my best friend, Kiera, and I'm relieved to see her. She steps into the cave, her face etched with concern.

"I've been looking for you," she says, her eyes scanning my face. "What's wrong?"

I let out a deep sigh, the weight of the decision crushing me. "My father," I say, my voice low. "He wants me to marry the daughter of the Vampire King."

Kiera's eyes widen in surprise, and she steps closer to me. "That's a big decision," she says, her voice soft. "What are you going to do?"

I stare out at the cave, the sound of water calming my racing thoughts. "I don't know," I say, my voice barely above a whisper. "I just wish I didn't have to choose between my happiness and the good of our race."

Kiera places a comforting hand on my shoulder, and I feel the weight of her presence ease my mind. "Whatever you decide," she says, her voice gentle. "Know that I'm here for you."

I nod, feeling the weight of her words comforting me. For the first time in a long time, I feel like I'm not alone. And with Kiera by my side, I know that whatever decision I make, I will have the strength to face it.

As Kiera departs from the cave, I remain seated on the rock, lost in thought. I close my eyes and try to breathe deeply, hoping to find some clarity in my situation.

But my peace is short-lived as I hear the sound of running footsteps outside the cave. I stand up, alert, and strain my ears to listen more closely.

Suddenly, there's a loud thud, and I can hear someone crashing onto the forest floor. Fear grips me as I hurry outside the cave to investigate.

As I step outside, I see a figure lying on the ground, unmoving. I run over, my heart pounding in my chest, and kneel beside the figure. As I turn the figure over, I see that it's a young woman with long, tangled hair and torn clothes.

I feel a surge of protectiveness for the girl, and I quickly check her pulse to make sure she's alive. I let out a sigh of relief as I feel her faint heartbeat, and I lift her up in my arms carrying her back to the cave.

Once inside the cave, I lay the girl down on the floor and try to wake her up. I have a strong urge to stroke her hair and whisper soothing words, but I restrain myself.

As I wait for her to wake up, I can't help but wonder who she is and what brought her here. I look at her again, taking in her features, and I notice something strange about her. Her eyes, which were closed before, are now open, and they're a vibrant shade of blue that seems to glow in the dim light.

My curiosity is piqued, and I wonder if the girl might be a supernatural being like me. I decide to wait for her to regain consciousness and see if I can get some answers from her.

Minutes pass by, and the girl stirs, moaning softly. I lean over her, and as her eyes focus on me, I notice a strange intensity in them.

"Who are you?" she asks, her voice raspy and weak.

"I'm Jaden," I say, trying to keep my voice calm. "What's your name?"

She struggles to sit up, and I help her to prop herself against the rock wall. "My name is Willow," she says, her voice barely above a whisper.
