Kindreds are mostly known to be ruthless, possessive and brutal in the galaxy.
They are creatures of the universe, the heavens and the most underrated species known to exist.
Driven by instinct and the need to mate.
Their demise will come when their mates are human and refuse to pursue a future with a Kindred alien.
---
Zion Mahji treats the galaxy like his own personal playground.
He sees.
He touches.
He smells.
He conquers.
And he holds the fate of his planet and people in his hands.
Earth soon becomes his stomping ground as the female earthlings are biologically compatible with the Kindred to mate, and carry their offspring.
He promised himself that if by chance he did find his mate, his heart and his soul, he wouldn't become excessively obsessed with her.
He would allow her to take her time to come to him when the right time aroused.
That is until he found himself standing across the street from his potential mate's house in the middle of the night with his hands clenched into tight balls and his twin hearts beating erratically in his chest.
"We shouldn't be here Zion. This is violating the treaty we made with the humans." Jaja explained to his brother as his eyes glowed a brilliant shade of sapphire blue.
"Mine." A low grumble of possessiveness came from Zion.
Zion was tall, seven-foot two at least, with widespread shoulders that had him turning sideways as he entered doorways. But he moved swiftly with an animalistic grace that misrepresented his beastly physique.
"I don't know how much longer I can keep away from her." Zion snarled, "Her scent is intoxicating." He sniffed the air like he was breathing in the scent of freshly picked flowers.
"Not now," Jaja warned him. "Patience my brother."
Jaja was tall like Zion, his physique was strong if not stronger and his spiky silver hair accentuated his sapphire blue eyes.
"I can't take it any longer, I ache for her brother and it's killing me slowly." Zion openly declared as his hearts thumped against his chest creating a beautiful and cruel melody that was solely for his human mate.
"But you haven't seen her, brother. How do you know you will physically be attracted to her and how do you find a frigid human, so alluring, attractive and desirable?" Jaja could not apprehend the infatuation his brother had for a woman he had not met.
"Her scent is like bathing in a pool of zubuya." [honey].
"Are you sure she is the one?" Jaja asked as he took another look towards the house and the light turned on, illuminating one section of the yard in the darkened night.
He could hear her humming from where he stood and he knew his brother could hear her too. The sound of her voice and the beating of her heart created a beautiful symphony and Jaja knew right then and there, his brother was lost to this human female.
"I know she's the one," Zion growled and there wasn't a shred of doubt in his low, rumbling voice that spoke volumes.
Zion inhaled the air, taking in a large breath, his eyes were half-lidded with desire and he bared his fangs that grew from his teeth canines.
"She's the one," Zion muttered, his eyes glowed brilliantly as he spoke of his potential mate. "She's ripe for the taking and I want her now." His voice rumbled through the air and Jaja felt his knees buckle beneath him.
Zion was his superior, his king, Alpha and commander. When Zion used his commanding voice, Jaja's ability to have control over his body becomes close to non-existent.
Jaja fought his body for control. "Don't you think you should wait, brother? You will scare her and lose her at the same time." Jaja's voice was strained with pain as he continued with his inner battle for dominance.
"Waited long enough." Zion muttered murderously, "She is mine, whether she accepts me or not." He ploughed a curled up hand into the tree he was standing next to and it went flying across the street.
"Not now brother, I beg you. The council won't be pleased if they hear that you lost control of your desire, it makes you look weak, pathetic and unworthy to rule our planet." Jaja bowed his head as he openly spoke to his brother.
He was the only person who got away with such a crime of speaking his mind so candidly.
"Screw the council, none of them are mated. How can they possibly know the agony I've been going through these past couple of months without having her?!"
"If you are not in control of your desires you will hurt her, possibly kill her." Jaja's voice was hushed.
"Kill her?!" Zion spun around, he picked his brother up by the neck and held him mid-air as his feet dangled. "I don't want to kill her, I want to take her, bond her to me and -"
Unconsciously, Zion released his brother as he turned back towards the house and started to walk towards it. "Mine... She is mine and I want her now..."
"Brother, wait.!" Jaja coughed, "Wait until she has been served the papers tomorrow. One night, one more night and she will finally be yours." He rose to his feet from his kneeling position. "Don't violate the treaty, brother, please, I beg of you." His voice was raspy and rough.
Zion did not answer his brother, instead, he let out a thunderous growl that could be heard miles away. His body went rigid as the light in the house went out and the muscles in his arms went tense.
"This way brother," Jaja said as he tugged his brother to follow him. "You can't stay here or you'll do something you'll possibly regret and lose her forever."
Zion resisted the urge to push his brother away as he had cast one final glance back towards the house.
A possessive fire licked his caramel tinged skin, setting fire to his entire body. "Mine, bonetta, and tomorrow I will claim you for myself." He rambled as he let his brother drag him away.
Mine......
MIYA's POV...
For the final time, I stand staring over the horizon; the globe is dying, it is overpopulated, man-made diseases are spreading through the air, world conflicts, greedy governments, and changing laws all combine to create a lethal cocktail capable of bringing the world to an end.
The ozone layer has almost completely depleted, leaving nothing behind; our crops are suffering, animals are dying of starvation, and our water is drying up, carving out vast deserts across the globe.
It is also an unbearable experience to step foot outside of the shadows as the sun's harsh rays are hot enough to set someone alight and the horrible smell of burning flesh, lingers in the air.
For the first time in our history, homosapians have been classified as a dying breed, and we are more vulnerable than ever, leaving us open to being attacked by another species.
And to save our species, we, the women... have been given the opportunity to stand alongside the Kindred men and assist them in saving their lineage.
It was once said that the Kindred men arrived on plant earth many centuries ago and struck a deal with the government; they identified that our time had come and, in order to assist the human race in living out their final years in happiness, they offered us their soil, building materials, and generously compensated the government with limitless credits.
To summarise, our government sold us shamelessly, which our forefathers permitted. There was no war waged between the planets; instead, we are going to be used as cattle to infuse and breed our species into one.
When a white van with dark tinted windows pulled into my driveway this morning, I knew my time had come.
As I watched the men exit the van, they had a large brown envelope in their grasp.
A contract to be married off to a Kindred.
An alien.
I had escaped out the back door, desperate for my life and unable to endure the prospect of being brought to the spacecraft hidden behind the massive government walls.
There is no way in hell that I am going to fuck a blue man with three eyes and four arms. Some kinky women might like the idea but for a virgin like myself, that is too bizarre.
I was born in an era where tag, hide and go seek and going to school were things of the past.
Being born in a hospital is for the wealthy, and because we didn't come from fortune, my mother died as she gave birth to me.
My father died when I was twelve years old, a man had broken into our run down-home, wielding a knife, he demanded the last of our food rations, and he demanded me.
My father fought this man until his last dying breath, and as this wicked man kicked my dead father's body, I plunged the metal rod that lay beside my bed straight into his beating heart.
I was alone in a dying world, with no sense of survival skills. That was until I met Sofia. My saving grace and a miracle friend. She took me into her home, the home we still share now as Sofia's family is wealthy.
---
Night has come, the small moon that once shone with a brilliant yellow light that illuminated the sky is now a blood-red moon. It has a murderous effect on those who suffer from chemical imbalances in their brains.
The sound of footsteps behind me, makes my blood turn cold, my heart slows down and my body is consumed by the sensation of dread.
Humanity is dying beside the earth.
All that matters is survival, and regardless of what you are compelled to do in order to survive only those with the will to live, survive.
Kill or be killed.
I wasn't a killer which makes me easy prey.
I continue to walk down the long narrow street that is dimly lit with street lights. A large fence that was put up by the government had a small gap large enough for my body to squeeze through.
I know what lies behind those fences built to keep us, civilians, out. A Kindred Alien spacecraft. I gulp, saying a silent prayer to the gods to let me sneak into the confinement area without being detected.
I just need to stay hidden until my night stalker goes away. I crouch down, in a dark corner of the building that is in blindsight of the cameras and sensor lights.
"Civilian female at HQ," a muffled voice speaks loud enough for me to hear. "She could be armed, alert the Kindred and let them deal with her. They could be dealing with a possible attack."
Fear engulfs me.
They see me as a possible threat and will most likely aim to kill me if they find me. On quivering limbs, I rise and make a beeline towards the gap in the fence.
"Hello, pretty lady!" A man snarls with short brown hair and stormy grey eyes as he approaches me.
With my heart thumping against my ribcages, drowning everything out that surrounds me, I quickly start to retreat from his proximity.
The man lurches forward, he takes ahold of my upper arms and he headbutts me. Excruciating pain spreads across my head, my vision becomes cloudy and I unwillingly watch as he falls to his knees.
A big gaping hole pierces his chest, and the stench of burning flesh and material wafts through the air as a cloud of smoke flutters from his wound.
I switch my focus to his face, I feel the blood drain from mine. His eyes that are full of panic, shock and fear are heavy on mine. His mouth is agape as blood stains the concrete ground like a flowing river.
I stagger backwards as his body falls to the ground with a sickening cracking sound filling the air. I watch with wide, stunned eyes as his body twitches once, twice and it ends.
I start hyperventilating, tears fall down my cheeks as I raise my hand to cover my mouth to try and silence my cries of terror.
I look around, through my blurry vision I see four large figures walking straight towards me. They come to a standstill a few feet in front of me, all dressed in black, they stare at me in silence through their ski masks and it is the silence that makes them intimidating.
One of them grumbles in their mother tongue, feeling disoriented, "Huh?" I stammer breathlessly. "Wh-what are you saying?" I swallow thickly.
The man grunts as he looks at his friend standing on his left. The more he speaks, the more I realise their language is out of this world.
"Silence!" The man to his left bellows in strained English. "We have been practising for months and it is obvious you have not, yet again." The man's emerald coloured eyes slowly start to change in colour. "As I stated earlier, repeat what your translator says so the humans can communicate with us until they are fitted with their personal translator."
The men are suddenly pushed to the side as another man barges through them. " Mine..." He rumbles in an accented voice that is full of dominance.
When our gazes collide, his sapphire eyes slowly start to change in colour. Amber rings glow lustrously through the midnight atmosphere.
Fire licks my skin, burning every inch of my flesh as my heart beats erratically in my chest and I feel a strong pull towards this man the longer I gaze into his beautiful eyes.
I should have known better.
With every woman being sold like cattle to these aliens, I should have never slipped through the hole in the gate.
Now I fear my life will never be the same again.....
ZION's POV...
Mine.
Bonetta, Bonetta, Bonetta!!!! [Fated one.]
That's all that chants in my head the longer I stare at her and when her honey brown eyes collide with my gaze, I feel like the air has been knocked out of me.
She is beautiful.
So fucking gorgeous my fangs hurt as they want nothing more than to sink into the delicate skin on her neck.
'Mate....' My inner warrior roars. So pure, so beautiful and she is ours for the taking...
My twin hearts thump in my chest.
'Bind her to us, bathe her in our scent so every warrior on our ship will know who she belongs to.' The veins on my temples throb as I try to control my thoughts and gather my composure.
The more I stare at my tiny human mate, the desire to fall to my knees and serve her grows intense.
But I am a king.
I can not allow my warriors to witness the overwhelming weakness she bestows upon me.
I reach out to touch her and she stumbles back, her honey-brown eyes don't leave mine and the need to wrap her up in my arms and run to my cabin in the ship with her grows agonisingly stronger.
Every fibre in my large, powerful body wants to crush her to me and demand that she accept me.
A Kindred.
An Alien.
I am at war with my emotions.
"Not like this, brother. You are scaring her." Jaja steps beside me and reminds me to stand down. "This is not our home, she is not one of us and doesn't understand." He mutters in our mother tongue.
"She ran away, she doesn't want to mate with me and I will not accept her rejection." My body grows stiff with panic.
I am a fierce warrior.
A desirable Kindred to many and this fragile human, my mate, refuses to come to me.
The Gods have finally found a way to punish my 100-year-old ass.
All the laws that were laid out bare on the table many centuries ago through the treaty should now be void.
She broke the sacred union.
Not me.
Two of my soldier warriors step forward, causing her to take three steps back and the scent of fear wafts through the air.
I snap my head to the side, baring my growing fangs as I hiss at them. I know they weren't going to touch her unless they had a death wish to battle me in the grand arena once we return home.
There are only three, reasons why a Kindred enters the grand arena in combat form.
One, you have challenged another Kindred for their mate to take as your own.
Two, you have been sentenced to death and you must battle the Queen's finest warriors she chooses.
Three, you wish for an honourable death by taking your own life in front of a bloodthirsty audience.
"Please, I don't want to cause you any trouble." Her voice quivers as she wraps her arms around her trembling waist. "I..I just want to go home." Her eyes disappear behind a wall of tears.
"It es nawt save for yhu to leef," I explain to her in the human language.
Her brows pinch together, "Did you just say 'It is not safe for me to leave?'" She asks sceptically.
"Yes."
She giggles causing my hearts to cease pumping.
"That was fresh." She shakes her head, "And I doubt it is safe for me to be here too, especially when.." She quickly closes her mouth and turns to walk away.
"We the kindred, serve to protect the female species. Unlike the human men on this planet." Jaja kneels before her, openly declaring his submission to my intended.
She stops in her tracks, slowly turning around to face us once again.
The other men follow, and her eyes bounce from each kindred with confusion evident on her face and as her eyes land on mine, she raises her brows as if to expect me to follow suit.
I smile under my mask, my body going rigid with wild desire invading every aching inch of my body.
"And what about you?" She says breathlessly, lowering her arms from her delectable body.
"I bow to no one," I say in a cocky tone that causes her brows to knit together.
"I thought you Kindred serve to protect us, women?"
I chuckle.
She is a fiery little thing.
I should tell her that I don't bow to my intended before the mating process. But I decide against it and have a feeling that she won't take my words lightly.
After all, she did run away from me this morning.
And the thought of chasing her, driving her delirious with need, irritation and desire sound more intriguing than trying to force her to love me.
"My name is Zion Mahji. I am a king, a warrior and I bow down to no one. Including the female species whom we serve to protect with our lives." I snarl, taking three steps forward and to my surprise, she doesn't retreat.
Instead, her honey-brown eyes harden as they gaze into my brilliant blue ones.
'Asshole' I hear her mutter under her breath and I am unfamiliar with the term as my translator has trouble trying to describe her choice of words.
"Unless you are willing to mate with me then I will gladly kneel in your presence as you will initially become my queen." I flick her a cheeky wink.
She giggles, "Me, mate with an Alien?" She sneers with outrageous animosity. "Gods no! You may not have four arms, but I can not see myself fucking a blue Alien and carrying your child." She shudders in front of me.
A deep low, vicious growl escapes my lips at her comment.
"There are plenty of females who will beg to differ with you. Many of my Kindred warriors have already been mated." I say in a cruel tone.
"Good for them." She crosses her arms in a defensive posture. "But I don't plan to ever let a Kindred fuck me."
'Not just any Kindred!' I growl internally with fierce jealousy.
I rip my mask off my face, violently running my hands through my midnight black hair with frustration. I raise my gaze, our eyes collide and she gasps with surprise.
"Yo..you're not blue or.. Or. Shit!!" She cries out as her eyes suddenly roll back into her head and faints before me.
I lurch forward, catching her and I pick her up in my arms. A sense of calmness washes over me as my eyes scan her beautiful face.
"I don't know how many times I need to remind you before you start to believe me brother." Jaja, mumbles as he approaches my side. "But you need to stop taking your mask off and making these.. weak females faint before you." He clicks his tongue and shakes his head with disapproval.
"The Gods surely want us to suffer don't they?" He exhales loudly. "There is no future for us with these humans." He abruptly turns around and storms back towards the building we are currently occupying.
A thunderous beat plays beneath his combat boots with every stride he takes that is full of anger and dissatisfaction, reflecting his emotions.
