Chapter 1 ALYSA

Part 1

ALYSA

"Sis Maud! Come on! I'm ready, here," said Alysa Angelika.

Maudy smiled at the cheerful tone of her sister's voice. 'I'm grateful! Looks like his health is getting better,' he thought.

The woman whose full name is Maudy Angelia hopes that her sister will recover soon after yesterday's high fever. He was very worried because his sister was indeed one of the people who got sick easily since childhood. To be sure, his sister should not be too tired.

Now, after getting paid and celebrating the monthly bonus he gets, today Maudy wants to buy Alysa the clothes she likes as a birthday present. Then, of course, they would go for a walk together.

"Bring this!" Maudy gave a light blue water bottle into the hands of her sister who was very far from her age. Just imagine, his sister was born when he was in high school. Unfortunately, their mother's life was not saved at that time.

Alysa received the water bottle and immediately got out of the rented house. The young girl stood at the door waiting for Maudy. Every now and then he checked the clothes he was wearing again. Rarely did he have time with his brother who was always busy making a living for his sick self. Luckily, I've never been to the hospital.

Three months ago was the last time Alysa left the house with a beautiful dress because her sister suddenly asked her to go to the cinema because Maudy ended up becoming a permanent employee of a well-known company. Really, Maudy had to go through a long process to get it. Maybe now, Maudy can breathe a sigh of relief regarding the daily needs of the two of them. It could be said that Maudy's salary was more than enough if it was only for the two of them as long as her life was kept simple like this.

It's not easy and it took so long to get all of this. It took five months as an intern.

For years before, since their father died, Maudy, who is still in the third grade of college, was forced to take a leave of absence from college and was only able to work odd jobs. Sometimes, in a day, he works in three different places and gets very little rest time. After two years of leave, he finally continued his studies while working. After graduation, he worked in various places and none of them lasted long for various reasons. One of them is the workplace is too far away or the salary is not enough for both of them. That's how Maudy initially targeted the company where he works now. Finally, he started his career in the company after a long struggle.

Because of Alysa's weak body, the two of them are always changing places of residence or rent. Maudy wanted to make sure that they lived as close to her sister's school as possible and also not too far from the company as much as possible.

The situation also makes Alysa almost never go anywhere. Alysa was forced to admit that her sister had made the best decision because she used to faint from just a little fatigue.

Riding the yellow public transport, they stopped at the biggest supermarket in the city.

"The edge, yes," Maudy exclaimed while touching Alysa's arm gently with the intention that her sister immediately prepare to go down. Turns out, even without that warning, Alysa had guessed. He even had five thousand in his hand.

"I pay," he whispered to Maudy.

Maudy smiled gently. With a meaningful look, he nodded his head to his sister.

Actually, Alysa is a smart child, but Maudy and her family's careful treatment from the past that has limited her sister's activities makes it seem like she doesn't know the outside world. Maudy realizes that, but Alysa's weak physique makes them still have to treat Alysa in a special way even if they are secretly looking for excuses that Alysa can accept. However, the girl seems to have no desire to know the outside world except with Maudy, her sister.

While still in college, their father died in an accident. Maudy also became a parent as well as everything for Alysa.

Maudy stares at the world behind the public transport window. He took a deep breath. Maudy wants to introduce Alysa to the real world. However, later on, his sister may have to be able to live independently and form a family of her own.

After the trip, he also wanted to take his sister to a psychologist so that her sister could live a normal life. Maybe, it's time to think about the right place to train his sister's fitness. Isn't this new job a pretty high salary? He would use it for his sister and set aside some for their future savings.

Maudy and Alysa were already standing with their heads and shoulders bowed with the intention of getting down immediately. Apparently, the car did not pull over immediately. There were several traffic policemen giving instructions for the mini bus to stop some distance ahead. After waiting for a while, they finally came down as well. Alysa gripped Maudy's hand tightly. He could feel that his sister's hands were shaking and sweating coldly. In the end, Alysa didn't dare look at the driver and handed over their fare. Maudy immediately handed over the replacement without asking Alysa anything. He immediately carried his sister towards the entrance of the supermarket.

"I'm okay, Sis," said Alysa, pushing her sister's hand gently. With a heavy heart, Maudy let go of his hand.

"Come on, go, Sis," said Alysa smiling. "I'm behind Big Brother!"

"Okay," said Maudy. She felt compelled to trust and allow her sister to be a more independent person. However, just as he turned around, his sister had already collapsed unconscious.

Hearing the sound of something falling, Maudy immediately turned around with a bad feeling. How surprised he was to see his sister lying just like that.

"Alysa? W...why are you? Get up, Deck!" Maudy lifted Alysa's body as fast as possible with a feeling of confusion. "Alysa! Alysa!" Maudy is getting more and more frantic because her sister is also not awake.

He looked at the people who were starting to crowd in frantically.

"Help! Help us! Who can take us to the nearest hospital. Help us!" Maudy cried while asking for help. His hand did not stop rubbing Alysa's face in the hope that her sister would wake up soon.

For a moment, people just looked at each other and whispered. Maudy's cries broke out of frenzy.

"Call a taxi or a rickshaw or whatever!" This time, Maudy asked the two people who were closest to them for help directly. The lovers were looking at them while showing expressions of pity.

"Oh, fine!" The woman immediately asked for the backpack that the man was carrying and the man in blue immediately ran through the crowd.

The most appropriate course of action is to appoint people directly. However, before the man who was asked for help returned, another man wearing a full black suit immediately lifted Alysa's body. Maudy did not have time to pay attention to his face because the man immediately stood up and walked quickly.

"Follow me. My car is near here," the man said.

"Thanks," Maudy said, running after him.

Along the way, Maudy held her sister's hand anxiously. Several times he had to wipe the tears that fell suddenly even though he was holding it.

Not long after, they arrived at the nearest hospital. Maudy still continued to hold her sister's cold hand as she continued to pray.

***

"What? Heart? And need surgery?" Maudy exclaimed in disbelief.

Maudy seemed to be dreaming in broad daylight when she heard the doctor's words. He held the doctor's examination paper with trembling hands.

"Alysaku! How could you ..." Maudy sobbed with tears that kept falling. The old looking doctor handed him a tissue box. "Thank You!" said Maudy between sobs.

His heart was broken already. So far, they only live together and rely on each other. For Maudy, only Alysa is her strength. He's the only family he has.

"The fifty million is only for temporary surgery so that your sister can get through this critical period soon. In the future, the damaged heart can no longer be preserved. We must register Alysa as soon as possible for a prospective heart transplant patient. If there is a suitable donor "Heart transplant surgery can be carried out. However, it costs a lot of money for that," explained the doctor.

"If there is still a possibility that my sister is healthy, I want to take that route, Doc. How much?" Maudy's voice choked when she said the question. Fifty million alone has made Maudy think hard about where to get the money, let alone a heart transplant? Maybe hundreds?

"You should at least provide nineteen to twenty...."

"Twenty? Only twenty million doctors?" Maudy's eyes widened in disbelief. However, it was a big mistake for him to interrupt the doctor's words.

"Sorry, Miss Maudy. I meant twenty billion rupiah," said the doctor in a sorry tone. The specialist's compassionate look at him was more like an expression of apologies because he wasn't the one who decided it or it could also mean that he couldn't do anything about it.

"Ha ha!" Maudy laughed out loud. "Of course, Doc. It can't be million. Fine. Thanks for the information, Doc. I will try to fund fifty million as soon as possible," said Maudy. He came out of the doctor's office with a limp body.

In the waiting room, the girl sat with her head down on the back of the chair in front of her.

He wanted to cry as much as he could now, but he also needed to get funds for his sister's surgery immediately. He didn't have time to cry. But, from where? At his new job, he had only worked for a month. Who would lend him fifty million let alone twenty billion?

Ah, Maudy's head almost exploded. Tomorrow, he has to go back to work. When will he have time to find the money?

Maudy quickly took the phone and started looking at the contacts one by one. He started contacting people who might be able to lend him money. Actually, Maudy wasn't sure they had that much money to lend her because most of her friends were people like her. However, who knows?

The total money he has is around seven million rupiah if he sells things that are less necessary. It was because he had already paid for Alysa's room on the first day. He had to earn another forty-three million tonight. Can?

Chapter 2 OLD ENEMY

Chapter 2

OLD ENEMY

"You haven't changed, have you?" The voice broke Maudy's concentration who was sitting in the hospital garden. He was trying to reach people who had not been contacted since last night. Unfortunately, the funds collected were only five million rupiah even though the operation was planned to be carried out tomorrow.

"Who?" Maudy answered reluctantly. After a quick glance, he immediately turned his gaze back to the phone screen. There were other things that were far more important to him.

"Is it that busy that I'm ignored? How's your sister?" asked the man again. The man in work clothes came over and sat in front of Maudy.

Inevitably, the girl finally gave a little attention to the man who had openly harassed her.

"Oh, driver, uh, I mean you were the one who helped us yesterday, weren't you?" Maudy stood and bowed her head just enough to say thank you. "Thank you very much, yes. Thanks to you, my sister was saved," said the long-haired woman sincerely.

"Oh. I didn't think so! You're still the same, aren't you. It's hard to tell people apart," the man grumbled as he folded his arms across his chest. "Tsk, tsk, tsk."

'Very arrogant! Even online taxi drivers are arrogant! What right did he have to judge like that with just one meeting?' Maudy was very upset.

"Sorry, I didn't forget. However, my mind couldn't focus. Ah..." Maudy's face suddenly changed. "Could it be because of that?" Maudy asked then hastily reached into her bag.

"Because of what?" the man asked even more surprised.

"I just remembered. My deepest apologies. I'll pay for it now." He took his wallet out of his bag.

The man smiled. "Wow...you immediately apologized too, huh. Is that sincere?"

"T...of course! How much do I have to pay?" Maud took out two fifty thousand notes.

"Are you kidding?" The man's brow furrowed. "You think you can pay for the mess you've made with just two fifty thousand bills? This girl... tsk, tsk!"

"What the hell? You're...the weirdest taxi driver I've ever met. What do you mean? Because you helped carry my sister so I have to pay millions?"

Maudy asked annoyed.

The man seemed reluctant to respond to Maudy.

"The fare to the hospital is only twenty-five thousand rupiah. I've already given you four times as much. Is it still not enough? Then, what's that? You always chuckle in front of strangers every chance you get. for meeting someone like you. I thought you were a savior god. I thought you were a sincere good person. Here... I'll add one more sheet. Ah, no. That's enough. I'm not a person with excess money. Don't ever look for me again. I beg you because I am busy with other matters."

Maudy stood up and left the man screaming in anger.

"Pfft...Buahahaha...!" After a moment of silence, the man whose full name is Marcel Beret, the owner of the Ferrore group, laughed out loud while holding him. his stomach. Unexpectedly, the man was even amused by Maudy's behavior.

Several people who passed in front of the garden looked at them with various expressions. Maudy stopped and turned to cover the man's mouth.

"Don't you have any sense of decency? This is a hospital. Most people here are in need of calm because their family is sick and being treated." Maudy was so angry that she stopped using the word "you". According to him, the person in front of him had gone too far.

"Wait! Wait! You misunderstood, Maudy Angelia!" the man hissed slightly. "Did you just think I was a taxi driver and accused me of being someone who would extort money from the poor people I helped?"

Maudy was taken aback by Marcel's stressed words. That is true! Maybe this man is not a taxi driver judging from his clothes and the things attached to his body from the toe up. Everything looks expensive and classy and also looks ... not like it costs two fifty thousand bills.

"How did you know my full name?" Maud asked nervously.

The man glared at him. That haughty face and cynical smile looked at him fiercely. Then he took the glasses that were on the table and put them on.

"Marcel? Mar...Marcel Beret?" Maudy exclaimed in disbelief. He immediately recognized that handsome face with glasses.

"Ah, hi Maudy Angelia ..." Marcel greeted while moving his hands slowly, more like fanning dust. "Hey...don't just stare. Sit here. You'll pass out later and this...I'll give you back your money," Marcel said as he slid the two fifty thousand notes back into Maudy's hand, who was still shocked.

"It's been a long time, huh. This is the first time we've met after that incident," Marcel said with a smile on his handsome face but he looked sly and arrogant. "You're still the same as before. It's hard to recognize people, accuse and scold people carelessly. Likes to judge people."

"Don't make accusations!" said Maudy angrily.

"I'm not making accusations. It's all proven."

"There is no proof of this incident, Maudy. There is only a viral video that immediately damaged my good name. Today you immediately accused me. Fortunately, today no one has filmed and made a movie. Otherwise there would have been a new viral news headline "'CEO of the Ferrore Group Looking for Extra Pocket Money by Becoming an Online Taxi Driver and Just Begged One of the Passengers. Hohoho... all of our investors might run away," said Marcel sarcastically.

Maudy looked at Marcel with an unreadable expression. In her mind, this man might be here to add a new problem to her. However, their relationship in the past was not good, in fact it was very damaged.

"Sorry, I have to go. I have other more important things to take care of today. I know you want to take revenge on me, right? Can you take revenge after my sister is healed? I won't run away," said Maudy with a fake smile.

"Ah, don't get me wrong. I didn't come today for revenge. I came because I wanted to accompany the greatest woman I have left for a health check. Of course, ensuring the health of our loved ones is better than retaliating against an insignificant person. nothing, right?"

Jleb!

It felt like a knife was stuck in Maudy's heart. They were similar to those Maudy had said sixteen years ago.

"Without your money, you are nothing!" The sentence resonated in Maudy's head so many times that it hurt her head.

Maudy felt sad and angry at the same time. However, why did Marcel have to say 'remaining woman'? What does it mean?

"I'm going first! I'll look for you again," Marcel said with a wink.

Maudy felt angry and embarrassed at the same time. How could his helper be his mortal enemy? And, to his shame, Maudy was indeed guilty of their bad relationship. However, why did he have to appear at a time like this?

'Ah no. I'm not guilty. He also contributed to her death, Mama!" Maudy thought even though her self-blame was stronger than anything.

Maudy rushed into the hospital. He had to determine what time tomorrow the deadline for the initial payment of his sister's surgery money. At least he had to pay around twenty million in the beginning. Then, after this there will be many more operations before the transplant can finally be done someday. Ukh, Maudy's head was throbbing in pain. His heart also ache remembering Alysa had to go through it all.

Maudy's phone vibrated. It was a call from Kayla, her team leader who was still a girl. With anxious anticipation, he picked up the phone.

"Good evening, ma'am!" said Maudy to Kayla on the other side.

"Maudy. All I can borrow is ten million. Can I?" asked Kayla from the other side.

"Oh, thank you very much, ma'am. That helped me a lot." Maudy cried because of emotion. Seven million from his savings plus five million from his friend and then another ten million from Kayla means twenty-two million. At least, that's enough until tomorrow.

"Just send me your account number, okay!" Kayla said.

"Thank you, ma'am! Fine. I'll send it right away. Thank you again." Maudy's voice stuttered.

"It's okay. Just relax. Sorry that's all I can help you with. Oh, yeah. No need to go back to the office. Just concentrate on your sister's treatment until tomorrow after the surgery. I've asked the director for permission," he said again.

"Fine. Fine, ma'am. Thank you."

"Hopefully your sister's surgery goes well and she recovers soon, okay! You also have to take care of your health so you can take good care of your sister," said Kayla with great concern.

"Thank you mom." Maud thanked him again and again.

"That's it. I told you, outside the office think of me as your brother just like I said before."

"Okay, sis."

Maudy felt so relieved because at this time there was a savior who suddenly appeared for the situation she was in. With a lighter step, he immediately rushed to take care of registration and payment for his sister, Alysa's surgery. After that, Maudy saw a surgeon who would handle the operation.

"Alysa! You have to be strong too, so you can keep your spirits up!" Actually, the sentence was more aimed at himself.

Maudy walked while praying for her sister.

Chapter 3 EXTREME APPLICATION

Chapter 3

EXTREME APPLICATION

Maudy was very relieved. Her sister's surgery went well. His sister was out of the operating room, though not yet awake. The doctor said, everything is fine and will always be monitored twenty four hours.

Maudy rushed to the hospital every chance she got. Although he is still confused about finding a loan to pay off his sister's surgery costs.

Maudy's heart ached. How could his clueless sister have to suffer from such a disease. He who is poor also has to think about the operating costs whose figures are fantastic as if they are not real money. It's still a minor operation. The doctor said that as long as the heart transplant had not been done, it was possible that operations would be carried out whenever his sister's condition worsened.

"But don't worry! Usually, if it goes well, this operation will keep your sister healthy for a long time."

"What's old like, Doc?" Maudy asked.

"More than six months. However, he must remain in intensive care in the hospital!"

'Hah! What the hell is that? Is six months a long time? I couldn't breathe at all. I haven't been able to fulfill the fifty million,' Maudy thought frantically.

His hands were busy scribbling a small book in front of him. He has written many things from earlier, ranging from other loan plans, the possibility of doing many jobs at once or those that don't interfere with his main work schedule, jobs that quickly make money, to selling organs? Ah, Maudy immediately crossed out the choice strongly. 'I also need to be healthy so I can earn money and take care of Alysa,' he thought.

"Forgive me God!" he whispered in a small prayer. How could he ever think stupidly want to sell his internal organs? Even if that was the case, how would he be able to take care of his sister if she was in such an unwell?

"I thought you were here!"

Maudy, who was daydreaming, immediately closed the book containing the scribbles on her hand when she saw who had come. However, Marcel had already seen the writing. Maudy realized that and looked away with a red face.

"What else are you here for?" asked Maudy curtly. The person who was asked even smiled with joy because he felt he was holding an important card from his enemy.

"I came to propose to you. Aren't you flattered?" asked Marcel casually.

"What? La-mar?" Unknowingly, Maud spelled out a word that confused his mind.

"Yes. Apply. Have you never heard of the word propose?" asked Marcel. "Or...yes, my goodness, or maybe you've never been proposed to or haven't even been in a relationship?"

The girl looked at Marcel full of anger. "Do you think the word propose is used by people to play games?" he hissed with a sneer.

She looked at Marcel with hate and anger, but in her heart she admitted it one hundred percent. Since then, he was only busy working and thinking about his sister. Have you ever thought about dating? He never even thought about getting married someday.

"I'm sure I didn't. I didn't say that as a joke. Well, I also wanted to ask you. Do you think the numbers on your paper are play money numbers?" said Marcel with no less cynical face.

Maud was silent for a moment. He seemed to have guessed something from Marcel's words but he wasn't sure. "Explain what you mean. Just tell me what you really want! My brain can't handle riddles right now."

"Wow!" Marcel chuckled and clapped his hands three times. "You're smart too, aren't you. It's not wrong that you went to a top university."

"Are you spying on me?" accused Maudy of being on the verge of exploding with emotion.

"Calm down! Don't be angry, honey. You'll get wrinkled quickly. My aim is good, really." Marcel leaned closer to Maudy and whispered, "I just wanted to help, my dear!"

"Shut up, you. Who loves you?" Maudy pushed Marcel's body in annoyance. He quickly grabbed his bag and left the place.

"Maud. Wait! Wait! Listen to me first," said Marcel as he continued to follow Maudy.

The woman kept walking without heeding Marcel's words. 'In fact, now he dares to say my nickname,' thought Maudy irritably.

"Looks like they're a grumpy couple," said a grandmother dressed in patient clothes.

"So remember our youth," said a grandfather who was with the grandmother.

Maudy held back her embarrassment as she quickened her pace. Marcel followed in silence. They didn't speak a word until they entered the payment room. Actually, Maudy wanted to confirm the last date for the payment of her sister's surgery costs. However, because the man was following him, Maudy pretended to pass by. Suddenly Marcel grabbed Maudy's hand and pulled her closer. Maudy felt that she couldn't contain her anger any longer towards this impudent man. He was ready to beat the man up, but didn't because Marcel seemed to be pulling him closer to a married couple.

"Marcel. Where have you been? He... who?" asked the middle-aged woman wearing branded clothes. That woman is Kirana, Marcel Beret's mother.

"This is my girlfriend, Ma. She's my future wife."

"Future wife?" Kirana looked at Maud with a suspicious look. "Really? Isn't it because you don't want me to match you up?"

"Mom... no, Auntie!" Maudy moved her hand to move Marcel away from her.

"Wow, so you're really his girlfriend? You even defended Marcel," Kirana said with a happy face.

"Not a girlfriend I mean," continued Maudy.

"You are right, Marcel. Is this because we want to match you?" asked Yutama, Marcel's stepfather who is of mixed Indonesian-Japanese descent.

He seems to be surrounded by good and rich people, Maudy thought.

"Hey. That's okay. I'll pay for all of your sister's medical expenses," Marcel whispered in Maudy's ear. The girl widened her eyes at Marcel's offer.

"It seems that he is so insecure, Ma, Pa. Even though I told you that Mama and Papa would not do anything bad to their future son-in-law just because he was poor. Even though we were very compatible and agreed to get married. That's why I always refused to be matched , said Marcel confidently.

"Really? Is it true, son? What's your name?" Kirana asked while looking at Maud with hopeful eyes. "Come on, don't be shy."

"I'm Maudy, Auntie. That...that is if Aunt and Uncle don't mind." Maudy answered while pinching Marcel's arm secretly. The boy bit his lip in pain. I didn't expect a woman's pinch to hurt so much.

"That's good then. Ah, you guys love each other too, huh. Hmmm... how about we have a wedding at the end of this month?"

"What?" Maudy couldn't believe what she heard. "Isn't that too soon Auntie? Actually... we haven't talked about that yet." Maudy gave a pitiful facial expression.

"Then, just talk about it now. Early next month, we have to go abroad," said Kirana to which Yutama replied with a smile. "Besides, Marcel must have told him about his grandfather being sick. His request is for Marcel to get married and add a new member to our family."

"But..." Maudy looked at Marcel, shaking her head. Marcel put his arm around the confused Maudy's shoulder.

"We go first, son. Come to the house. We will take care of your wedding preparations together. Until the wedding day arrives, you just sleep at home, Cel. Just leave your house empty until the wedding day," Kirana said. The man took his wife away.

Geez. Children and parents are crazy, huh? thought Maudy.

Bruk.

Maudy kicked Marcel's calf.

"Ouch!" Marcel jumped in pain.

"Explain! What does all this mean? Are you and your family weirdos?" Maudy asked annoyed.

"You can say I'm weird, but don't be mom and dad, Maudy. There's a reason for this. But you don't need to know because you're not officially my wife yet. My grandfather is seriously ill."

"Then?"

"Like my parents said earlier, they want me to get married soon."

Maudy held back her irritability. "Okay. Explain what you mean by paying all my sister's medical expenses!" Maudy crossed her arms waiting for an explanation from Marcel.

"I'll pay for all of your sister's medical expenses. You see...I don't think how many times there's a riddle in that sentence. Obviously I made a simple sentence that's easy to understand," challenged Marcel. "I thought you were smart."

"Okay. Okay. I just want to make sure. I haven't agreed to marry you. I need to be clear about everything. All that cost...that...including the twenty billion I need to pay for my sister's heart transplant if there is a donor later. ?"

"Yep," Marcel said with a smile.

Maudy felt her head expand from astonishment. "Including the remaining payment for my sister's surgery?"

"Hmm....yes."

"That's...thirty million more, you know..." Maudy said.

Marcel nodded in agreement.

"Including all the other surgeries to be performed and the cost of the hospital stay?"

"Yeah, Maud."

Maudy looked at Marcel with a suspicious look. "So what do you want? I don't like you and never imagined living my whole life with you."

Marcel laughed haughtily. The way he laughed was more like an insulting snort.

"Don't worry. I don't like you either. I really don't even like you."

Maudy felt insulted by Marcel's words even though she didn't really want him to like her at first. Why? Of course because Maudy wanted to hate him freely.

"Two years. Let's get married for two years and then divorce. I will pay for your sister's medical treatment as well as you while living in the same house with me."

Two years, huh? Twenty billion and other expenses like it, well worth it for my sister's recovery, Maudy thought.

"Of course, the first condition from me is never to love me! Never like me as a member of the opposite sex. Second, to be affectionate when in front of others like a harmonious husband and wife. If no one is watching, please act like a stranger. However, remember! During those two years I've paid you a lot, so treat me like a housekeeper."

What request is that? Maudy gritted her teeth hard. Did he just give up?

"And the most important thing is that during those two years, you have to give me a child," Marcel said.
