Tokyo, the capital city of Japan, never sleeps. Life here seems never to stop moving. Everything is fast-paced, as if stopping for a moment can stop the rotation of the wheel of life-a harsh city for anyone who wants to survive here. The glitter of the night world is a common thing that can be found in the middle of the town. The night is even more dense. Neither cold nor hot weather can stop how this city works. Even in the middle of Autumn, people need to be more relaxed in their work.
Except for a young girl in one of the small rented apartments, staring at the fallen momiji leaves littering the ground below. Ah, tomorrow will be a hard day for the street cleaners. They have to go the extra mile to get rid of dry foliage along the way.
"I missed you, Dad."
The girl talks with the phone in her ear. Her voice was holding the longing rising. Why not? Being away from home often leads to homesickness. Unfortunately, there was no immediate response from the person on the other end of the phone. Michelle Kaila– the young girl – pursed her lips.
She then heard a long sigh from a man. It's half a century old, from how heavy the tone of voice is. Hoarse and heavy. At that time, Michelle knew she would have to stay a little longer in this country.
"You have to stop Michelle."
Michelle smiled lightly. Know that there is no other way to escape. "Okay, Dad, I should hang up. Send all my love to Mom and Sister. Assalamu'alaikum." Then, she turned off the call with a feeling of tightness in my chest.
Michelle hugged her knees on her little bed, trying to ward off the cold night air pouring from the window gap. Mid-Autumn in Japan is much more complex than the rainy season in Indonesia. Michelle had thought her heart might have frozen if she had been here longer.
"What did you expect, Michelle?" She smiled lazily; monologue is nothing but an evocation of uncomfortable solitude.
If there had been no past involvement, she might have yet to make it this far. Climbing stairs after stairs, jumping from one stone to another, everything she does to get out of the discomfort zone. Usually, people get out of their comfort zone, unlike those precisely looking for such comfort. Comfortable is a tricky word even though it has crossed the island and the country. Though there is no harm in itself, it's just that the feeling of loneliness often feels like blocking the solar plexus. Her reflection in the mirror told me that she wasn't feeling well. It can be seen from her face that she is lethargic due to lack of rest. Even so, Michelle returned her reflection with a sweet smile. Sometimes, things go differently than expected. Who should she complain to?
BRAAAK!
The door suddenly opened loudly. Michelle was forced to turn her head to the doorway, apprehensive, only to find a girl figure standing there gasping for breath.
"Michelle! Eugene is doing a live broadcast! We have to watch it!"
Ana screamed like a madman. Instead of being upset, Michelle smiled broadly. Ana's frenzied action managed to evoke the joy that disappeared on Michelle's face.
"Where's my phone?" Michelle shouted excitedly while looking all over the room. Her memory seemed to stop after ending the phone call with her father. Forget the existence of that phone.
Ana patted herself on the forehead. Feeling discouraged by Michelle's negligence. "Oh My God..." Ana took something from Michelle's back. That turned out to be Michelle's phone. When in a panic, Michelle tends to forget things easily.
Michelle smiled awkwardly. "Come on, let's watch it." Then she pulled Ana's arm. She invited an older girl to watch a Korean Idol live on Instagram.
Ana has known for a long time. Long enough to know the young girl's favourite Korean idols. The tall, skinny, handsome man with dimples adorning his cheeks sings while dancing with choreography, making the head dizzy. They were too similar, Ana said, but after being forced to watch One Show after another by Michelle, Ana finally began to memorize the members of the boy group Wizzard-One one by one. Especially the most handsome and most beloved Michelle. Eugene Ahn.
"Annyeong Wizzy..."
A man in a black T-shirt speaks in front of the screen. Her black hair looked a little wet, whether it had just finished a shower or a workout. Both assumptions still do not dissolve the good looks of the man.
Hearing the husky-voiced greeting, Michelle suddenly squeezed Ana's arm. Feeling resentful of the Idol made Ana a sacrifice. Michelle often squeezes anything beside her when nervous: pillows, dolls, and, this time, Ana's arms. The woman sighed resignedly before giving Michelle a sweet punch on the head.
"You can admire him, Michelle, but remember, both of you can't be together," she said, walking away. Michelle was completely helpless! Said Ana in her mind.
Ana is a long-time K-pop fan. It can be seen from how she prefers Wizzard-one's senior boy group, Savior.
Maybe that's what makes Ana not so excited in response to Idol-just admiring without any sense of wanting to have, unlike Michelle, who is five years younger than her. Michelle's heart is still beating.
Suddenly, Ana held out her cell phone, grabbing Michelle's attention from the Instagram broadcast. "Do you want to come tomorrow?" She asked in a flat tone.
How surprised Michelle saw the news on Ana's phone. Her eyes were twice their average size. "Is it true that Wizzard-one unit R will be holding a fan sign?" Michelle is half-screeching. "Where did you get that ticket? I tried to get a war ticket but didn't get it."
Wizzard-one has six members. They also formed several group units, one of them WO-U'R (Wizzard One-Unite R) consisting of Christopher Park and Eugene Ahn. Meeting just one member is so happy for a hardline fan like Michelle. Unfortunately, she couldn't get a single ticket during the war ticket. As with auctions, only a few lucky people can buy the ticket, depending on how fast or 'lucky' the person is. And the lucky one may be Ana.
Ana grinned. "So, do you want to come? I won't make you a double offer," She whispered, shaking her phone in front of Michelle, deliberately teasing the girl who was still unstable.
"Wow! Thanks, Ana! You're my savior!"
"Of course I am."
Michelle accepted the offer without a second thought. Michelle lunged at Ana and hugged her tightly, giving her tiny kisses on her cheeks. Ana immediately pushed Michelle and stayed away from her.
"Stop it, Michelle!" shouted Ana, crossing her arms before her chest. "You scared me!" Ana shuddered in horror. She quickly tidied up the short-sleeved T-shirt with Snowie's picture.
Michelle chuckled a little without guilt, but then her attention was distracted by The Voice of Eugene Ahn, who was saying goodbye and about to end his live broadcast.
"Oh my dear..." Michelle whispered. "Why did you end your broadcast so quickly?"
Annoyed that Eugene Ahn often does short live broadcasts, Michelle quickly opened Eugene's Instagram account, wanting to send him a protest message.
|'Dear Eugene...
Why are you only broadcasting today? Not even a minute. Today, I am despondent because I miss my parents. I haven't been able to see them in a long time. But thank you. Seeing you do a short live broadcast made me forget my longing. I smiled back, and it was all thanks to you. I hope you take care of your health. See you tomorrow....' |
Michelle smiled very broadly, to the point of making Ana beside her shudder in horror. But, of course, Michelle did not bother Ana's gaze. She looked at the Momiji leaves still left in the trees with a happy feeling. Getting ready for bed while looking at the yellowish leaves warmed Michelle's feelings.
"Come make a beautiful story with me, Eugene Ahn..." Michelle whispered to no one. Maybe it's the cold autumn air out there or the dry leaves that are moulting. Slowly, her eyes began to strain. Drowsiness has come. Just before closing, Michelle had seen a speck of light shining bright enough out there. It's like praying for Michelle.

Today looks so bright. Although cold air makes most people stay home with the heating on. At the same time, enjoy a cup of warm tea and a Mochi cake. But others are just looking forward to this sunny day to come out.
They don't care if it will be crowded with people from all over. All they think about are the two handsome boys in the WO-U'R. Including two girls who were walking hand in hand with cheerful faces. Or maybe just one, while the other put on a look of astonishment.
"Michelle, are you sure you'll bring a chocolate as big as this bear?" Ana asked, shaking her head slowly; she occasionally looked at her cell phone. Check the fan sign schedule.
The heart-shaped chocolate box is indeed huge. Michelle even seemed to have trouble carrying herself. But it's okay; it's for Eugene Ahn's love. Even if she could, Michelle would probably bring a mountain of chocolates to prove her feelings for the Korean boy. Only that limited energy makes her willing to bring this chocolate.
The most important thing is that the meaning of Michelle's struggle has been poured out in the form of chocolate. The girl was willing to get up very early –it was still early in the morning– to buy all kinds of chocolate shapes she would later arrange. Her hands also make this heart-shaped chocolate box. You can see the asymmetry on each side.
"Don't worry! This box of chocolate is proof of my love for Eugene Ahn!"
Michelle insisted on defending herself when Ana commented on her box of chocolates.
Although secretly, Michelle is still unsure if she will be allowed to bring an object of this size into the Fansign area. It's so hard to keep up with these two top performers.
'It's going to be okay, Michelle! There's nothing to worry about!' inner Michelle encouraged herself.
No matter how hard it is to make chocolate, to the point that it requires Michelle to stay up all night, all this she does for Eugene Ahn alone is an opportunity of a lifetime. She should use it as much as possible. Spending a few yen and energy is relatively easy, especially when dealing with Eugene.
"I am very sure of this."
"Does it have to be this big?" Ana gave me an uncertain look because Michelle seemed to have trouble carrying a box of chocolates that was even half the size of her body.
"Of course, you should! This way, Eugene will know how much I love him through this chocolate," Michelle explained in a sing-a-song tone, which immediately made Ana chuckle, annoyed.
In general, the two girls always have different opinions. Ana is often apathetic about Michelle's hyperactive attitude. But behind it all, Ana can be said to understand Michelle inside and out, like when she tugged at the hem of Michelle's sweatshirt. On which is printed a portrait of Eugene Ahn and a white puddle-type dog named Bubu.
"You must be fantasizing about being in Bubu's position, right?" Ana chirped as soon as she saw the girl beside her smiling-smiling herself, even though nothing was funny. "How dare you bet? Bubu will not want to swap positions with you as reincarnation exists."Ana's sarcastic remarks immediately pulled Michelle out of her reverie.
"You're just jealous of me!" Michelle is upset. Meanwhile, Ana seemed to ignore Michelle's grumbles along the way.
The journey takes about half an hour. It shouldn't matter if you don't carry large items. 'Chocolate shucks' is what Ana calls it. To avoid being upset, they must keep the chocolate box as good as possible while standing on the Bus. Jostling with other passengers. Several times, I was reprimanded for carrying objects that generally exceeded capacity. Not to mention that with the change of Bus, they have to get off from one stop to another until they reach their destination.
AEON Lake Town is one of the largest shopping centres in Saitama Prefecture. The place was indeed significant, but thanks to the news of the arrival of two top Korean idols, AEON Lake Town instantly narrowed. Visitors who come many times over. They fight each other, trying to get in first.
"Ugh! I can't breathe!"
"Don't give up, Michelle! Come on!"
Lucky Ana has more potent energy than ordinary women. Deftly pulling Michelle's hand to a safer place, it entered a deserted lane, where several black-clad staff were neatly lined up.
"Huft!" Michelle can finally breathe a sigh of relief. "Just a moment of jostling, and I was almost like jelly," Michelle said, showing her hand that seemed to shake. It was a little bit, but still, Michelle didn't want to experience anything like that again.
"Ana, did you hear that? My heart is beating so fast. What if Eugene doesn't like my gift?" Michelle whispered, voicing a whipping nervousness. After all her bones softened like jelly, Michelle just hoped it wasn't heartburn suddenly. If that happens, then–
"Be quiet and calm, and everything will be fine."
Michelle is very grateful to be near Ana. Although women are often more barred than football supporters, Ana ensures the situation remains safe. Keep Michelle away from home.
Approaching the entrance, Ana waved her hand at the male figure in black. The ID card hanging around the neck signifies the man as one of the staff. " Asahi-san, " called Ana. Her voice sounded much softer than when talking to Michelle. "Can I bring this thing?" Ana asked in fluent Japanese.
Asahi smiled sweetly. It's too sweet that Michelle suspects strange gestures from both. She then elbowed Ana's arm, whispering in Indonesian to the unknown man in front of them. "Is that your crush?" To which Ana only replied with a wink.
Ana was chatting with Asahi, ignoring Michelle's questions about all the living things around them. Unfortunately, both speak fluent Japanese, which Michelle doesn't understand. The mission to eavesdrop on their conversation failed miserably. Michelle regrets not being so diligent in memorizing Japanese vocabulary despite having lived here for a year.
"Come in, ladies, take a set!" asks Asahi after talking to Ana.
This time, Michelle should be grateful that Asahi uses English. At least for now, she doesn't look like a fool.
The two of them followed behind Asahi as staff and Ana's acquaintances. They can freely enter without jostling with other spectators. But this ease even made Michelle break out in a cold sweat. She involuntarily squeezed the sweatshirt several times, trying to calm the rapid heartbeat. If it does not subside, she might even faint here.
'No! That can't happen! No, before I can say hello to Eugene!'
Michelle shook her head several times, dismissing negative thoughts. Both hands are clenched tightly and raised as high as possible. Thinking if it would raise her spirits again.
A few steps into AEON Mall, Michelle was amazed to see many staff and guards forming a particular line to keep safe from the booming visitors. The first floor was chosen as the Fansign area because it is strategically located and broader than the others. Avoid jostling action that can trigger riots. However, that way only minimizes it and does not stop the density of visitors. Half the visitors may be ordinary people who accidentally came in when the fan sign show was held. AEON Mall still performs its function as a public shopping place. Therefore, guardrails were formed using portable iron at the height of an adult's chest with a red ribbon that looked sturdy. At least enough to keep the crowd of masa who did not bring tickets to enter the Fansign area. The limited tickets did not discourage the fans. For them, it doesn't matter if they can't shake hands with the idol as long as they can still see him, even from a distance that cannot be reached.
The Fansign stage is in the middle of the room, looking majestic, with a large screen in the middle of the stage. The strains of the song WO-U'R; ETERNAL, filled the AEON Mall. It even sounded up to the top floor. The fans - most women – sing in unison along with the song. Enliven the already festive atmosphere.
Meanwhile, Michelle managed to get into the Fansign area after a relatively long queue. Michelle looked back at the crowd of fans who could only stand outside the guardrail. Michelle and Ana are lucky to meet Eugene and Christopher face-to-face. Eugene Ahn...
"Michelle, please calm down! Breathe in and out, like I told you!" Ana squeezed Michelle's shoulder, removing the strain on Michelle. The young girl replied with a short smile.
Right, she shouldn't be so nervous like this. Michelle did as Ana ordered, which has helped her ease her anxiety disorder over the years. Over time, Ana has taken over the duties of Michelle's Guardian at large. Watching and guarding ever since the young girl entered the same office as her. The first experience never went well. Ana even panicked when she found Michelle having an anxiety attack.
"Take a breath... Hold on... Count to five and then take it out...! Oh, my gosh, Michelle, you almost gave me a heart attack!"
For now, Michelle can smile as she recalls memories of the past. But swearing by the pile of Wizzard-One albums in her room, Michelle almost fainted when the tragic incident happened to her. She did what Ana said. Take a deep breath until your chest puffs up, then exhale entirely after holding for five seconds.
The cheers of the visitors became increasingly shrill, making Michelle reflexively look forward. When two tall men climbed the stage stairs and began to sit on the benches that had been provided, all eyes were on them. Michelle is willing to bet that even people who are not fans will immediately fall for both men.
Oh, My God! They're handsome!
Michelle cried in her heart. Her heart was pounding faster than ever. If this is the case, she could have fainted. Michelle took another breath and patted her left chest.
She could only see the two men from behind the scenes all this time. I can't believe their faces are even better than the videos. Smooth white skin is typical for Koreans. Well-groomed hair in a neutral shade. Maybe it's because they're not filming and use neat hairstyles. Thin but elegant makeup. Adds to the appeal of Christopher Park and Eugene Ahn
"Prince Ahn..." Michelle murmured in a half-whisper, to which Ana agreed next to her.
"Yes, Prince Ahn..." Ana assented.
Michelle's gaze could not be separated from Eugene, no matter how attractive Christopher was –not that she didn't like Christopher, but Eugene's charm was really that amazing. Amya's eyes lit up brightly. It was the first time she had seen the idol before her eyes. Eugene looks mature, much different from eight years ago when he was just a skinny teenager who was really into a sweet drink called Bubble Tea. Yeah, Michelle even got in on the sweet, no matter how sore her throat was.
Most importantly, she felt closer to Eugene. Thanks to the drink. Then and now, Eugene Ahn, who sat before her, transformed into a charismatic adult man.
