Married to my boss

Awakened by her alarm she realized it was it was another day to get ready for work. She took her bath, brushed her teeth, picked out something to wear then went to the kitchen to prepare something for breakfast.

She was already getting late she had to rush down to get a taxi. She got to work trying to settle down. The thought of her rent being raised and her looking for a new apartment disturbed her.

''Did your mom die''? Tristan her colleague asked.

''What"?

''You look like a wreck girl"

''Thank you very much".

''What happened"?

''My rent happened"

''Money issues"? Tristan asked.

''My new landlord just raised my rent out of nowhere"

''That doesn't sound right"

''Trust me nothing about this guy is right"

''Did anything else happen?"asked tristan.

While she was trying to answer, Mandy another one of her colleague called her name out loud reminding her to take the documents to her boss's office on time or he's going to freak out otherwise.

''Oh you're right" she said will trying to arrange the documents.

''Guess you would finally get to meet the big boss today" said Tristan.

''I'd sh*t my pants " Mandy said.

''How bad can it be?" she asked.

Mandy and Tristan laughed so hard.

''Our boss is Caden Scott. That guy has probably won every award there is

" Tristan said.

''He is the reason this company is successful and prestigious as it is" Mandy said.

''He is a business genius"

''As well as extremely pleasant to look at".

''You are lucky he was on a business trip for that long".

''That guy might be a genius but he is an absolute menace".

''He expects his expects all his employees to work just as maniacally as he does".

''Why don't one of you bring him the documents?, I'm still to busy looking for apartments".

''Have fun girl, just avoid eye contacts and you'll be fine''.

Worriedly she took the documents and went to his office. She knocked but he was not responding so she went in and found out that nobody was there.

She decided to drop the documents on his table, while doing that she heard a voice.

''Hey there"

She was shocked.

''Oh sorry did I scare you?"

''I didn't mean to".

''I... I... I.. It's fine I didn't know anybody was in here"

''I just wanted to give you the documents sir...".

''Documents?".

''Yes, the ones you needed for today's meeting Mr. Scott".

''Thank you for that".

She was so confused that her boss didn't seem as bad as they made him out to be. He actually seemed nice.

''Thank you Mr.Scott".

''You're welcome....?, You're cute. How about you and I.... "

''James"

A deep raspy voice ecohed right behind her. She flinched.

''Bad timing Caden" James said.

''This is my office". The voice behind her said.

''And who are you?"

The voice behind was directed to her. The voice that she realized belonged to the real Mr.Scott.

"Can you talk"?

''Uh... yes I.." Alina was speechless.

''Oh.... my... God" her body went rigid.

Just like her brain. The man standing in front of her,the man that turned out to be her boss looked straight up like a god. Her eyes met his chest and she had to crook her neck in other to look at his face.

And eyes so beautiful yet so cold looked down at her. His stare -icy, dismissive and bothered at the same time.

''Is her brain working"? He asked.

She snapped out of whatever trance she was in. ''Don't worry it works just fine" Alina replied.

''I was just inspecting your tie, it looks neat".

James laughed.

''You have good taste sir".

His eyes scanned her up and down his eyebrows raised. It almost seemed like

he wanted to dislike what he was seeing.

But couldn't help but like her outfit choice. She swallowed. He walked to his desk then took his phone and began to operate it.

''Why aren't you happy to see me Caden?" James asked.

''We haven't seen each other in so long"

''I don't have time for you right now" Caden said.

''Rude... is it your mom again?".

''She's not leaving me alone".

''She really wants you to get married huh.... "

Caden rolled his eyes.

''Caden! Why didn't you return any of my calls".

A woman dressed in a green and black gown walked in.

''Because I'm working".

She rolled her eyes.

''I wanna introduce you to someone" the lady said.

'' Come in dear".

''This is Miranda Jefferson, Richards daughter".

''I thought maybe you wanna take her out to lunch".

''Nice to meet you caden, I heard a lot about you" Miranda said.

The girl said in a high pitched voice that obviously did not belong to her. Her face lit up the second she saw caden. Her eyes slowly wandered down his body.

She bit her lip.

''I need to work"Caden said.

Caden didn't even look at her.

''All you do is work" Mrs. Scott, Caden's mother said.

''You need to set time aside to focus on family,caden!"

''And who is running the company while I do that?"

''You have enough employees!".

''They can't do what I do".

''ENOUGH!! I want you to go out with this beautiful lady and get to know her, No discussion!! ".

They stared at each other for a while.

''Mrs. Scott don't you think it is inappropriate to expect something like that from your son?" James asked.

''When he already has a fiancée".

''What!? Who?" Mrs. Scott asked.

''What are you say-" Caden asked.

''Don't you want to get rid of her?" James whispered interrupting him.

''There's a solution for that".

''Right.... Mum, let me introduce you to my fiancée". Caden played along with James.

Caden Scott said and stared directly at Alina.

''Huh!? "

''This is..."

''Alina'' James interrupted.

''Is that true?".

''Are you my son's fiancée!!?"

'She looks just as intimidating as her son..." thought Alina.

''It's true, caden proposed to me".

The second she mentioned his name she noticed his body flinched. He didn't expect her,his employee who is NOT his fiancée to play along with it.

And call him by his first name.

''You started this" she thought glaring at James.

''C'mon Mrs. Scott let's give the soon-to-be couple some privacy".

''Was nice meeting you caden" Miranda said.

''I hope to see you some time".

She shot a suggestive look in his direction.

''Didn't she just find out I'm his fiancée?" Alina whispered to herself.

Miranda was waiting for caden to give her a response but all she got was awkward silence.

So she turned around her heels while still managing to shoot Alina a death stare.

''Your name's Alina?" Caden asked.

''Y-yes, Sir...!"

''Don't misunderstand any of this, Alina. I'm not interested in you".

''W-".

''But you need to do this for me understand?".

''Do what?"

''Marry you??!! "

Caden burst out laughing.

''I won't marry you" he said.

All I want from you is to act as my fiancée whenever my mother is around".

''Are you nuts?"

''Excuse me?"

''Sh*t he is still my boss, idiot" Alina thought".

''Look..."

''She's not going to leave me alone unless she knows I'm married with kids".

''KIDS?!"

''You don't have to worry about that for now".

''For now?!"

''Why don't you just... meet someone and get married for real...?"

''Are you dumb?...Do I look like I have time for that".

She gave him a death stare.

''See all you have to do is to play the role as my fiancée to get her off my case".

''Why me?"

''You just happened to be in my office, Alina".

''But-"

''I need to get back to work...you know where the door is".

She became so pissed that she left his office angrily.

He didn't even ask me.. he just told me what to do and then threw me out" Alina whispered to herself.

''What an a**hole!".

''Dang I couldn't forget that this a**hole was still my boss".

''Was I even allowed to refuse that job?"

''A job where I had to pretend to be his fiancée...."

"How the hell did that happen?".

While she was still wondering about what just happened her phone rang. It was a call from her best friend Riley.

''Ali.. why didn't you call me? "

''What do you mean?.. we just talked two days ago".

And you didn't miss me in those two days?" Riley asked.

''Riley..."

''How is it going?.. Anything exciting happening at work?"

''W-w-what?...W-why are you asking me that?!!".

''Because all you'd talk about is this new job...I thought you wanna talk about it".

''I... it's pretty boring absolutely nothing".

''Why did you move away then?!!" Riley asked.

''You could have found a job here!!"

''Like what?.... Become a farmer?"

''Why not!?"

''I want this job"

''Still...I miss you, it's not the same here without you".

''I miss you too, Rilo".

''Promise to text me as much as you can".

''Yeah Yeah". She ended the call.

Her phone chimmed.

''Already!?... sounds Riley...".

It turned out it wasn't Riley who had just sent her a text.

It was Caden telling her that his lawyer will visit her with the documents she needs to sign.

''Lawyer!?.... Documents!!??.."

''What is happening!!?"she said out loud.

When she got home she found the landlord standing right near her apartment telling her to sign the new contract about a raise in her rent, or she leaves the apartment. And that he is going to call his lawyer.

''Who's calling a lawyer"? an unfamiliar voice asked.

''I wasn't talking to you''

''Well but I'm talking to you...Sir".

''Is that your boyfriend, is that why you don't wanna agree to my offer?". Mr. Sanders asked.

''Mr Sanders I would recommend you step away and let Ms.Clarke enter her apartment".

''I'm her-"

''Landlord I know".

''That doesn't mean you can just change her rent out of nowhere"

''I-''

''Nor make inappropriate offers, Mr.Sanders".

''You may leave now".

Trying to wrap her head around what just happened and who this guy is debating on whether or not to thank him or ask who he is.

''Thank you... for that."

''You are welcome Ms. Clarke".

''And how do you know... my name?".

''I'm Logan resse, Mr. Scott's Lawyer".

''L-Lawyer...?".

''Yes I believe Mr. Scott notified you that I'd pay you a visit, right?".

''He did..."

''Shall we go inside and talk?"

Already settled down Logan brought out a contract for Alina to sign.

''Mr. Scott intends to hire you as an actress, playing as his fiancée"

''While the contract is active-"

''You are not allowed to go into any dates, see other men or women-"

''You need to be available at all times".

''And you need to act appropriate in public to not cause any damage to his image".

''Bu-".

''This is the amount you'll be paid for this job".

He dropped a cheque on the table for her.

''Oh.. my.. GOD!" she thought aloud.

''Are you serious?"

''Not enough?"

''No!I... mean... it's... insane..."

''Great, Mr Scott expects you to sign all documents."

''As soon as that happens you are officially hired. I need to leave now"

''Here is my number".
