Married to a Monster

Never in my life could I ever have imagined that I'd be forced to an arranged marriage! Since I was a little girl I always imagined getting married to a man I love with my whole heart, a man who would fight for justice but reality hit me hard because now I have to get married to a man I don't even know!

Am getting married to a wicked and ruthless man rumored to be a monster. When my parents told me about it I laughed my ass out thinking they were joking. I mean a man not even from Dystrya but the second prince of the greatest kingdom of this continent 'Alvania'.

I should be happy that I am getting married into the royal family but a man as cold hearted 'as I've heard' only heavens knows how scary he is. Just thinking about it sends chills down my spine.

"Elaine" mom called when she was done brushing my hair

"Mom, please can we think things true a bit, I can't get married to that man" Elaine complained with tears welling up her eyes

"My dear, you can't go against your father and, it's your wedding day. You will soon start your new life. So please try to smile" her mom consoled. She let out a deep suffocated sighabd looked at the maid who suddenly entered the room

"Greetings to the queen and eldest princess of dystrya! his majesty, has requested your presence at the wedding" the maid reported with her head bowed to show respect

"We will be there" the queen said and led her daughter out of the room

Once they got to the huge decorated hall,Elaine decided to stroll about a bit to welcome the guests and mentally bid the environment she grew up in goodbye before the wedding precision starts.

While walking about she decided to get juice to quench her thirst, but when she reached out to the juice with a maid, she grabbed the glass and hurriedly consumed the liquid not realizing that there was a gentleman who had reached out for it before she could, but didn't get it because she hurriedly took it away

"That was Satisfying" she said and sighed

"Excuse me, your highness but I was about to reach out to that glass before you took it" he said calmly and got her attention

She was about to respond but got tongue tied after seeing the beauty infront of her, His silky long raven hair, his long lashes, golden coloured eyes that no girl could ever get tired of staring into and his muscular face. He just looked too perfect that Elaine thought she might be imagining things. He looked like a fallen angel of perfection. A face worth drooling over. And at her wedding!

"Hello!" Elaine got pulled out of her trail of thoughts when he snapped his fingers in her face, realeasing her from his hypnotizing spell and she cursed herself inwardly for oogling at a man when she was about to get married.

"Oh, um am sorry, please get him another drink" she apologized and ordered the maid but didn't see the stranger refuse Because she left in a hurry, it took all her resolve not to turn and look at the beauty behind her, to see him even if for the last time ever. The gentleman stayed still, watching Elaine walk away in a hurry

"Who is she?" He asked a man beside him with a cold and emotionless gaze

"She's the eldest princess of Dystrya" the man said and bowed in respect while something flickered in the gentleman's eyes

"Interesting" he said calmly with a smirk

Elaine rushed into the restroom to calm her raging heartbeats

"What the hell!" she cursed and calmed her mind

These few days her brain had been in shambles

She was getting married to the second prince of Alvania but not for love but others gains.

All her life her dad has been trying to make her graceful like the others. He wanted her to act like a princess but Elaine wasn't that type of girl

She liked sword training and archery but those were meant for prince's only

When the proposal came, her dad choosed Elaine because she was one of his daughters he didn't care much about, because she refused to act princess like

She had begged her parents and even promised to act princess like if they would call off the wedding but her pleas went into deaf ears

Now there's no turning back, only moving forward to face her future. She wondered how wicked, cold and cruel her future husband would be. Would he beat her up if she wasn't graceful. That thought made her angry. She wouldn't let anyone bully her, never! Instead she planned on fighting back if he tried to mistreat her

Knock!!

"My lady, it's time" she heard a maid call making her sigh and leave the restroom

She arrived at the huge double doors and heard a guard annonce her presence

She stared at the huge doors as it opened up showing her the new life she is being forced to walk into

'The stubborn princess is finally acting meek and is about to get married' she thought as tears welled up in her eyes

She sniffed and took the first step into the grand hall and her new life where she has no way of going back. If only she could turn around and run away, but if she does, her family will be disgraced.

She kept her gaze fixed on the floor 5meters away from her. She reached the altar and her dad had his hand held out for her and she humbly accepted it

When she faced her future husband, she dared not look at his face. She needed more courage. But he's smell. He smells so familiar

"Princess Elaine" the priest started pushing her out of her curiosity land

"Do you take prince Alexander of Alvania as your lawfully wedded husband"

"Princess Elaine, do you take prince Alexander as your lawfully wedded husband" he repeated and Elaine's mom gave her a slight nudge which no one could see

"I.....do" she whispered and the tear she tried her best to hold up fell from her eye lids

"Prince Alexander, do you take princess Elaine as your lawfully wedded wife" he said

"I do" prince Alexander said making Elaine's brows form into a tight knot

"Prince Alexander, do you take princess Elaine as your lawfully wedded wife" he said

"I do" prince Alexander said making Elaine's brows form into a tight knot

"This voice, why do I know this voice" she whispered and decided to take a sneak

peak at him. But she couldn't. She still needed more courage

"I now pronounce you husband and wife" the priest said with finalty and everyone clapped for the new couple

They all decided to sit and her dad congratulated both of them earning a scoff from Elaine

'am sure your satisfied now after using me' Elaine thought

"Seems you have negative feelings towards your parents" a voice whispered to her making the hair on her skin rise

She finally raised her head to see the face of the man she's married to, the man that actually managed to give her goosebumps with his voice

During the years no man had ever been able to catch her eye that she actually thought of giving up on the word 'love' but her mom assured her that her soul mate was just a bit far away for now and when he comes he would give her goosebumps with his voice alone

Now this man sitted next to her just made the hair in her body rise that she shivered a bit. She trailed his body slowly with her eyes

But when she looked at his face, her heartbeat sped up tremendously. She could never forget those enchanting golden eyes, raven long hair.

It was the gentleman she bumped into a while ago. Noticing that Elaine bowed her head i'mmediately to avoid looking into his eyes

"Remember me" he said to her and her heart raged that she almost found it hard to breathe

"Here" he handed her a glass of water and she hesitantly accepted it

"How....huh" she was flabbergasted

"Oh.... you didn't give me a chance to introduce myself....I am the second prince of Alvania" he said and flashed a killer smile that made her heart skip a beat

'with the way my heart keeps speeding up beats and skipping beats, I might end up with a heart disease' she thought and looked away

"So what do you plan on presenting later on" he asked calmly but with a serious expression

"Uh...mmm" she turned to look at him then remembered she was meant to represent something after. It had always been a tradition that the bride had to present something related to music but Elaine knows nothing about music, she doesn't know how to play the flute or trumpet or anything related to music

"You didn't plan for anything" he asked with a piercing gaze that she feared he could actually see her soul

"Um..it's a surprise your highness" she said finally remembering something she could

It was finally time and Elaine was no where to be found. Her dad was loosing patience while her mom tried to calm him down

Out of the blue, Elaine emerged wearing a black long-sleeved top and pants. Her hair was tied into a pony tail and she looked damn attractive ."She held a bow and an arrow then aimed at her father. The crowd that were oogling at her husband finally returned their gaze to her and fear gripped their hearts. The guards tried to rush to her and stop her but her father stopped them and smirked

The prince watched her stance and her hold on the bow.

"Interesting" he said to himself with a smirk

Her eyes glimmered over something and she released the arrow

Time seemed to slow down and the crowds watch the arrow lung right at her father, and just when it was supposed to hit his head the woman closed their children's eyes while they turn away, the men stood up, the guards unsheathed their sword ready to attack and the prince rested back on his seat with a smirk plastered on his handsome face

The arrow slashed into something, but not her father, it cut a rope and a portrait of the kingdom of Dystrya fell behind the throne

People looked at it in awe then cheered for the princess. The women and children stood up and clapped for the princess

"My daughter, I knew you would do something different as always but this time, you know your meant to present something relating to music" her dad said seriously

"Like you said, I always do things differently, the tradition is to show the groom's family the bride's talent not her musical talent. Am good at archery and painting, so I did this to show the groom that I can be nice, gentle and beautiful but I can also fight back when anyone tries to bully me" she said calmly and stared at the prince with a warning gaze, but he replied with a killer smirk

"Elaine" her dad called with a scolding gaze while the prince walked closer to Elaine

"It seems my wife is as smart and beautiful, I like it, beauty with brains. And I think you are right princess" he said proudly making Elaine's heart rejoice

"Your highness, am surprised about something. When she aimed the arrow at you, why did you stop the guards" he asked with a smirk

"Because I know my daughter, she can never hurt a loved one. She could even sacrifice her heart desires for her father so why would she kill him" her dad replied calmly

"Good" the prince said pleased

"I think its time I take my wife home" he said with a serious gaze and her dad nodded

Elaine went to her room to change into a dress more fitting to a princess and also to take a little bottle and hide it in her dress

When she got to the carriage, the prince had his hand stretched forward for her.

'why is he acting so nice, how can a person as nice as this be called a monster' she thought confused before hesitantly placing her hand on his and she felt her heart speed up at his warmt

"Come on" he said calmly and smiled while she nodded

She got into the carriage and looked back at the Dystrya castle until she couldn't see it again

She sighed before her gaze became serious, she knows the real reason she got married to this mysterious man and she needs to fulfill the mission giving to her by her father

Meanwhile, the prince kept watching her every expression and seemed to calculate something

"Your highness" he heard Elaine call in a soft sweet voice earning a smirk from him

"Yes Elaine" she heard him call her name, and she had never heard her name being called in such a mannar that it felt holy

"W-well, can I ask you a question" she asked and he simply nodded

"When we met before, did you know who I was" she asked

"No, I asked Xavier when you left" he said simply

"Your highness-"

"Call me Alex" he said softly and she nodded

"A-alex" she stuttered

"I don't mean to be intrudging but do you have other wives or concubines" she asked

"No" he said simply, and her heart rejoiced.

You seem relieved, I didn't know such a brave and wise princess could be possessive" he said and her face turned instantly red

'why do I feel this way towards the prince, I barely even know him, is he seducing me' she thought and finally put on her serious gaze looking straight ahead to avoid his eyes

"When you asked if I knew who you were..." He drawled shifting her attention to him

"I told you xavier informed me who you were but you didn't even ask who he is" he asked questioningly but Elaine could still see mischeive in his eyes

"W-well I didn't want to be too intrusive" she stuttered

"You know, Xavier also told me his encounter with a girl, in battle years ago..." He drawled

"Um, your highness, are we there yet, how much longer till we get there am starting to feel dizzy" she said holding her head but the prince knew she was faking it

"Okay,not much longer...... it seems..." He drawled and got close to her that she could feel his breath on her face

"My wife just can't wait to be in my arms, on our bed" he said shamelessly making Elaine draw back

"Ummmm...yes your highness...I definitely want that" she said looking afar

They got to the palace and of course Alexander helped her down.

She expected to see the royal family waiting for them but there was no one.

Alexander led her into the dining hall where his family had all been sitted. The chattering voices she heard died down upon their arrival

"Greetings father" Alex greeted with sarcasm obviously etched on his voice"Princess Elaine, is good to finally meet you. I have heard so many great things about you" the king said nicely

"Elaine stared at the huge dinning room. It had a very long table and chairs on each side. The king sat at the far end single chair while the queen and the crown prince sat on each side. A woman who seems to be the crown Prince's wife sat next to him. The twin princesses sat next to each other beside the queen. And Elaine noticed three empty chairs

'there's two of us, so who's missing' she thought confused

"Ah that seat is reserved for the crown Prince's son prince Zac" the king said noticing the confusion in her eyes she simply nodded and smiled

'wow such a nice family' she thought

"Come" she heard Alex say then he led her to her seat

Elaine sat in between the eldest twin princesses and Alex

"Elaine, enjoy your meal, you must be famished after traveling so far" the king said and she heard Alex chuckle

'why does he have this much hostility towards his own family' she thought and laughed internally remembering her situation

They all ate in silence, the only noise that could be heard were the sounds of utensils hitting the plates

The king left to deal with a few matters

Cling cling

The crown prince stood up and his glass lightly with a spoon

"A toast to my brother, for his first time sitting in the dinning with his family" he said and they all cheered and drank wine except the crown Prince's wife, Alex and Elaine

The crown prince poured wine into his empty glass and raised it again

"Another toast to his wife, she must be really brave, I mean she walked into hell with

open arms" he teased

"What do you mean" Elaine asked confused

"Well am sure you've heard that he is a monster" the crown prince said with a smirk

"That, is just a rumour" she replied with a challenging tone, mock sweetness coloring her voice

"So you don't believe it" he asked with a piercing gaze

"Why, should i? She asked with an arched brow and openly challenging smile

"Seems this princess really is brave enough to talk back at the crown prince" one of the twin princesses said, probably the eldest, making Elaine relax back on her chair and wonder why she got angry at his brother trying to ruin him in her eyes

"Well, I'll tell you the truth if he won't tell you" the other princess said and Elaine looked at her with curiosity and confusion

"Brother here is a monster, even his mom died after giving birth to him because she didn't want him" she said with a smirk

Elaine finally lost it, how could they say such cruel things about him, that is too cruel

Alexander's body tensed in anger and he tightened his knuckles until they turned white, he felt like killing his brother at that moment but before he could react, he felt something warm on his hand

He looked under the table and saw a hand caging his warmly. He looked at the owner of the hand in confusion
