Chapter 1 Prologue - eleven years ago

Sophie (9 years old)

I was ready, while waiting for my uncle Charles talking to his lawyer, watching my cousin playing outside the house, Louis ran screaming and laughing with his friends that I did not know, it was a long time that I did not see him, all because my father had fought with uncle Charles and even though that he was Mom's brother we never saw each other again.

And now I was there being delivered to Uncle Charles, because he would now be my guardian until I turned twenty-one and all this because my parents had died in a boat accident.

Yeah, I was only a kid, but It was hard to believe that they had left forever, a week ago they had gone on vacation to Europe to celebrate their wedding anniversary and I stayed with my nanny. I cried at night when Jenny came to me and said that my parents have become stars in the skies, I knew something horrible have happend, because was the same tha my parents told me when my grandma was gone.

They thought I still didn't understand what was happening there, why they took me to my uncle's house, but I had listened to the conversations, a nine-year-old hears a lot.

"Sophie dear, you have to eat something." My nanny arrived insisting by the Above time for me to eat, but I hated fish and all I had for lunch was seafood.

"Why did my parents have to die, Jenny? I just wanna be with my dad and mommy, I don't wanna be here" I felt a pain inside my chest that didn't seem to go through anything, and every time I saw something and wanted to tell my parents, I wanted to cry even more.

"Oh my dear, I am so sorry for what happened to your parents. But it was an accident and accidents happen, to anyone." She tried to comfort me, but she couldn't.

I heard her telling my uncle that it would take me a while to understand what it's like to be an orphan, so she should stay with me for a while. I just knew I could never see my parents again, thats was all I needed to know, nothing more will be the same in my life.

"But it didn't happen to anyone, it happened to me."

"You're still a very lucky girl, your Uncle Charles will take care of you now, until you can take care of your father's companies." I wanted to scream, say I didn't want my uncle, I wanted my parents, but instead, I nodded in agreement with her.

I didn't have many memories of Uncle Charles, but now we would have to learn to live together since I would be stuck there.

"Honey, why don't you go play with your cousin?" I raised my head looking at her again. "Maybe you'll learn to like it here."

I doubted a lot, but I needed to be a good girl as she had repeated several times, so I got up and went up to the lawn.

They were shooting a football, which fell very close to where I was.

"Throw the ball brat!" one of the boys who was with my cousin screamed smiling.

"Can I play with you?" I asked shy when I caught the ball, was trying as Jenny said, it all starts with a first step.

"No! Because you're a girl and girls are boring and weak!" was my cousin who screamed as his friend ran to where I was.

"Go play with the dolls, you idiot!" he pulled the ball out of my hands and I wanted to hit him.

The others started laughing and in the same instant my blood boiled with anger for being laughing at me, for being all together and for their perfect lives.

I ran into Jenny's arms, crying and hating everyone in the place I hid in the one place that was still familiar to me. I cried desperately wanting to die with my parents in the accident, so we could all be together forever.

But that was just the beginning of my personal hell, the beginning of my torment.

Patrick (25 years old)

I was happy, after two years with Emily, she finally said yes to me and agreed with Marrie me. This was the best day of my life, I was going to marry the girl I love and no one could deny my excitement.

"Are you sure you want to do this? I can still help you run, man, really, I got a car in the back just waiting for your order and we get you out of here." I was just finishing up my bow tie when Chris came up behind me in the mirror.

I pushed my best friend away laughing at his insistence on making me give up of the marriage. I was eager to spend the rest of my life with her, my heart felt like a horse galloping desperate just to imagine her coming in dressed as a bride.

"Emily is the best girl I could meet, beautiful, hot, comes from a good family like mine. What more could I want?"

"I don't know, man. Maybe wait another ten years? You're only twenty-five, you have a whole life ahead of you!"

"A life that I want to share with the most perfect woman I've ever met." he rolled his eyes away and I couldn't help but laugh at the idiotic expression on his face. "One day you'll understand Cris, I assure you."

He made the sign of the cross moving away in search of the rings, which were on the chest of drawers.

"I assure you that will not happen. But I will no longer insist that you run away from this madness, because it is too sweet for my taste and will end up saying more romantic nonsense if I keep talking."

I turned to the window staring at people in the garden, everything there had been my future wife's choice, she did not ask my opinion on anything, but I believe that all women are like this, after all it is their day.

I never imagined I could be so happy, not until that day, until the moment I would put the ring on her finger and declare to the world that she is mine alone!

"Come on, it's time." My dad broke into my room taking me out of trance. "Are you still sure about that? I'm sure she'd expect you a year or so from now."

"Even you, Dad?" I asked checking my appearance one last time in the mirror. "I'm more than sure she's the woman I love and I don't want to miss another day without having her as my wife."

I just had no idea I was making the biggest mistake of my life that day.

Chapter 2 I - Sophie

"You're marrying Mr Carter and there's no more arguing, Sophie!" that was Charles' final word.

I should have given up trying to convince him otherwise, but I could not give up so easily, it was my life and they had already destroyed it all these eleven years.

"But I can't marry a man I don't even know! I don't even know who the Carter's are."

"It just shows how ridiculous you are." Magie, my uncle's wife spoke with sheer disregard, throwing her blonde hair back. "They are simply the richest family in the country, their jewelry sells around the world."

"Why would a man like that want to marry me? He can have any woman in the world, you have to have another way to close this deal!" I insisted, I wouldn't let him sell me like that.

Charles walked around the table facing me. I had learned to fear the man over the years, learned to lower my head and swallow the things he spoke, because it meant less beatings and punishments. But in this case it was different.

"Listen here idiot, we raised you these eleven years after those thieving parents of yours escaped and died in the process, we gave you everything, so now it's time for you to reciprocate!" I swallowed hard, wanting to scream that I didn't believe his words about my parents, but I kept quiet. " You're gonna marry Patrick Carter, give him all the heirs he wants, and you're gonna do it smiling!"

Just now when it was only a year before I got my independence this could not happen, just when I would finally be free of that hell, those heartless people. Now I'd be thrown into the arms of a man I didn't even know.

"Yes sir." I answered unwillingly, not wanting to have any more problems.

"Cheer up little cousin." Louis said laughing from the couch as he turned over a glass of whiskey. "I heard he's a deformed, reclusive living in a house in the mountains, I'm sure it'll be like in the silly books you read."

I wanted to punch and swear, or scratch that bastard's face like I did years ago, but just remember the marks on my back that an icy shiver went up my spine, reminding me that keeping my mouth shut there was a matter of survival.

"The wedding is tomorrow, the notary will get here and you will sign the papers, after that me and his father will solve the rest of the details."

"Won't he come? Aren't we getting married in church?" I asked perplexed that even this was taking away from me.

My dream of entering the church with a veil and wearing my mother's dress was really going down the drain and I couldn't even do anything.

"Don't be silly girl! This isn't a wedding full of bullshit, this is a business transaction."

My eyes were filled with tears when I understood that I was an exchange commodity, they took a woman to give heirs to her son and my uncle took a lot of money to the company.

"I hate you, you are petty and unhappy people who love to destroy my life!" I gathered all my anger and threw up the idea of being a good girl, if he was selling me I had no reason to continue with it.

Charles raised his hand ready to hit me, but Magie stopped him.

"The wedding is tomorrow, do you really want to mark her face and risk them giving up the deal?"

"You are right love, well remembered." he looked with burning desire in his eyes, before dismissing me with a wave of his hand. "Go to your room and don't leave until it's time to sign the papers, I don't want to see your face anymore!"

I stepped out of there leaving tears running down my face and locked myself in my room.

I cried for a long time until I fell asleep, I was familiar with spending the days locked inside my room and sleeping hungry, they felt pleasure in giving me that kind of punishment.

A knock on the door woke me up and I took the small knife that left under my pillow, it was always there since the day my cousin attacked me.

"Who is that?"

"It's me girl, Rosa, open up." I sighed relieved when I heard the familiar voice of one of my favorite people in that world. "Quick, close quickly so no one sees me."

The short, chubby woman came in carrying a tray with what should be my dinner.

"You shouldn't have done this Rosa, I don't want you getting in trouble for me." I reminded her, but I sat down to eat without blinking. "What will become of me if they kick you out?"

"I don't think it makes any difference now, does it? Hugo told me everything, he heard the bosses talking." I quickly swallowed the food that was still hot just to answer.

"It's gonna be my end Rosa, I'm trying not to think about it."

She patted my hand and smiled solidarily. Then she stood up and opened the closet, starting to take off the few clothes I had.

"Why don't you try another way, my little one?" I frown in confusion. "You're finally leaving this damn house, you can have your life, do whatever you want..."

"You don't know how things are going, I don't even know what this man is like." but good thing shouldn't be, since he's paying to marry me and won't even show up here to sign the papers.

"You have to try to be happy for the first time in your life, that's all." Rosa closed the suitcase and put it next to the bed, then sat down again and held my hand. "I may not know this man, but I know you, I know you're sweet and capable of touching hearts, I'm sure you won't give up and let him treat you as he pleases. I want you to promise me that you will win that man's heart!"

My eyes filled tears with her words, even knowing that everything could get worse she was cheering me up. She was my only maternal figure since I was ten and my uncles sent Jenny away.

"Rosa, I love you." I clung to her feeling it might be the last time.

I woke up the other day determined to do what she told me, I would conquer my husband, even if this marriage was starting the wrong way I would make it work.

The dress that Magie had chosen was horrible and did not value me, not even in a white tone that woman was able to buy, even so I dressed it not to cause a problem .

They only let me down when the notary arrived, so I was sure that my future husband's parents were also there. I entered the dining room, my uncle, the notary and a tall white-haired man waiting for me at the end of the table.

"You're beautiful!" a woman exclaimed emerging in front of me. "Oh I'm sorry dear, I'm Audrey Carter, your mother-in-law."

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Carter." I muttered awkwardly, not expecting such a lively and warm person as the deal with my uncle certainly involved a large amount of money.

"Oh call me Audrey, soon we'll be family."

I opened a bigger smile trying to be polite and understand the whole situation.

"See what I told you, she's a calm, healthy, young girl." Magie spoke up approaching, I wanted to slap her and show that there was nothing calm as she spoke, but I wouldn't spoil my chance to get rid of her. " Sophie will give you many heirs."

"I'm sure we'll get along just fine." Audrey wrapped my shoulder around her arm and took me away from that disgusting one. " This is my husband, James Carter."

The tall white-haired man, with more wrinkles than I could count, opened a wide smile, brown eyes stared at me and he bowed hugging my body surprising me even more.

"Look, they didn't tell me this girl was so beautiful. I am very happy to meet you and even more so with this union, I am sure that you and my son will be very happy together."

I didn't even want to think about what their real son was like, because they were looking too bent on being nice to me.

"I'm looking forward to meeting him. Why didn't Patrick come?"

"Don't mind my niece's curiosity, she'll have time to talk it all over with her husband when they meet!"

Of course, my uncle would step in and try to move the ceremony forward just to sign this agreement. I signed the paper, noting that Patrick's part had already been signed, apparently he did not leave the house anyway.

After that they talked and we had lunch together, but before I could go back to my room my uncle ordered me to get my things, because the car that Patrick sent to pick me up had arrived.

I went without complaining, like a sheep going to the slaughterhouse. It was a three-hour drive until I reached the town and one more to the top of the mountain where his mansion was.

I stopped in front of the house feeling the cold wind creep me all over, the house was beautiful, surrounded by flowers and trees, but there was something sad there and I could see.

I looked up and saw someone in the window, but before I could see better the person moved away.

Chapter 3 II - Patrick

I needed an heir. Actually my parents needed one, the family company had to be kept in our hands and that's why I let them move on and get me a wife.

My parents tried to cheer me up with the idea, my mother in particular, kept talking about the beauty of the girl, how polite and sweet she is. But she could not be a good person, since she was selling herself to be a walking incubator.

What kind of woman would marry a man she doesn't know and sign a contract saying she'll have all the kids I want? I know the answer, a gold digger!

Since my car accident my life was not the same, my face was destroyed, or at least part of it was. Not even the most expensive surgeon was able to fix what my ex-wife caused, now I was a deformed man, or as I've heard people say: A Beast.

When the car entered the property I was looking at the photo my new wife had taken with my parents at lunch early. Her dress did not match the idea I formed about her, did not value her at all. Maybe that's why my parents made a mistake with her, her pretty face and a smooth conversation and they were falling into the illusion.

I stood up and went to the window hoping to see her more closely and when she stopped in front of the house, watching the huge building I could see her face fascinated with everything, she was just after my money.

"Sophie." I tested her name on my lips and it seemed to draw her gaze straight at me.

His face rose up focusing on the window where I was and I had a quick glimpse of the curious brown eyes, before hiding in the shadows.

I sat down in front of the computer and started fiddling with the camera system, spying on where she was and her every reaction knowing the rest of the house.

I saw Holly, the housekeeper, show her everything while the two talked as if they already knew each other and Sophie continued with the good girl theater, keeping up appearances, making Holly fall for her lie as well as my parents.

I got lost in my thoughts and it took me a while to realize they were in front of my room. I growled and stood up putting the mask on my face and going to the door.

"Boss!" I heard the voice of the woman who practically watched me grow, along with the beats. "Sophie Carter is already here."

"Oh no, please, just call me Sophie." The sweet voice reached me, but my blood boiled when I realized she didn't want to be called by my last name.

Sure, my money was fine, but my name wasn't.

"Good afternoon, Miss Carter!" I opened the door quickly and spoke angrily, giving emphasis on my last name.

Her surprised eyes focused on my face, probably wondering what I was hiding behind the mask.

"Good afternoon, huh... I think we can skip the formality, since we're husband and wife now." she spoke with a sweet smile on her pink lips, but that quickly disappeared when she saw that I would not answer her. "It's good to finally see you, your parents told me a lot about you."

I stared at the hand she held out to me, seriously thinking of refusing, but Holly raised her eyebrows showing her indignation at my behavior and I relented.

I slipped my hand over hers, the soft silky skin shivered with my touch, compared to me Sophie seemed to be freezing. I stared at our hands realizing how small she was, small in every way.

"Dinner is served at seven o'clock, don't be late!" I growled taking my hand away from her. " And wear something warmer, or you'll freeze."

I closed the door not being polite or cordial, I needed to take my eyes off her. Get rid of the mask and faced the object in my hand, even if only half of my face were destroyed, I wore a mask that covered it entirely, but only put when it was necessary, my employees were already accustomed to my face and did not face me, but now with Sophie at home I would have to spend long periods with it.

The night I took a shower and put on an expensive suit, as well as Italian shoes. I didn't used to wear it at home and as I rarely went out, all those things were untouched in my closet, but today something made me want to use it.

"Holly, where is that girl?" I asked impatiently when I got to the dining room on time and she wasn't there.

"For God's sake Patrick! Speak right of the girl, she's your wife and she's a sweet girl." I rolled my eyes with that speech, knowing it was already expected. " I don't like how you treated her earlier, I know you have your fears, but open your heart and give Sophie a chance."

I snorted at her words, Holly couldn't have been more wrong.

"She agreed to marry me to give me heirs and just that, do not start creating romantic ideas." I sat at the head of the table and Holly widened her eyes. "There's nothing romantic about this wedding!"

When the woman in front of me shook her head at me, I understood that Sophie was right behind me.

"Good evening Holly, good evening Mr. Carter." she said strained walking to the chair next to me. "Sorry I'm late."

"We were about to start without you." I replied even though she seemed uncomfortable, it was not my job to make her feel good.

"Today I'm not going to dinner with you." Holly muttered serving the table and drawing my attention, she always dined with me. "I'll let you two get to know each other better. Have a good night."

I took a deep breath following the quick steps of the lady, just like my parents, she hoped that I would be happy in marriage.

She bit her lips, uncertain and I could not curb the desire to take her mouth and feel her taste when I slipped my tongue on those lips that looked so soft.

"So... and then what do you like to do Mister Carter?"

I started eating ignoring the question and soon she joined me, eating without saying anything, I took advantage that she was head down and watched every little thing in her body.

Sophie was in a tight woolen dress, and I could see her nipples harden over the fabric when John opened the garden door and let the icy wind in.

"Good evening. I just came to bring you the report you asked for." He put an envelope next to me, we usually sat down drinking and talking, but today I just wanted him out of there before he saw her marked nipples.

"Good night John, thank you." as I expected he left without even answering me. "I thought I told you to wear something hot, we're on a mountain, here the wind is cold even in summer." I practically growled the words and Sophie seemed surprised that I was talking to her.

"I don't have many cold clothes, it was the dress or a sweater."

"I should have worn the sweater!"

I saw her swallow with difficulty with my words, but it was the only answer she would get from me, if she was expecting to earn more money for purchases was very mistaken, she had ripped a beautiful amount from me with this marriage agreement.

"Are you always this quiet?"

"I hate to chat..."

"This is just news to me, I never had a boyfriend or anything, but I think since we're married we should at least try to get to know each other better!"

Finally she was showing her claws, making it clear that it wasn't the immaculate, silly candy everyone was thinking about.

"Didn't you read the contract? You married me to give me children, not to get to know me better and try to be my friend." Sophie raised her face and chipped her teeth looking like she was about to hit me. "If you want to please me, you can learn what I like in bed."

Without me waiting she threw all the wine from her glass in my face, luckily the mask and my suit were the only ones hit.

"I'm not a prostitute! And if I wanted a surrogate you would have hired one." she clapped her hand on the table and stood up. "But you wanted a wife, a marriage, so I think we'd better learn to live together."

My blood boiled with anger for everything, but also for the excitement she made run through my veins. I could not control the desire to shut that mouth, my will was to hold it against a wall and only let go when all she did was moan.

Without thinking of anything I pressed the button on my watch that turned off all the lights, tore my mask and pulled it by the waist until her body was against mine and took that smart mouth on mine.

Sophie let out a sigh out of control and I slid my tongue over her lips demanding passage, as she parted them my tongue invaded the inside of her mouth. The kiss became even hotter when she intertwined with me, her hands held my biceps as I devoured her.

I did not restrain myself and tightened her waist pulling her closer and felt my cock throbbing with desire. A low groan came out of her mouth and I just thought I'd throw her on that table and bury myself inside her.
